One of the best videos that I have ever seen on this topic.
I am a vfx-supervisor on my own and most of the time when people that are not working in the film industry ask me how vfx are done I struggle explaining ... and after confusing them for a few minutes - I simply send them this video ;)
Nicely done. Also, the planning stages and storyboards are essential before diving into these 8 steps!
Thanks! Yes very true!
Dude you are the reason why i started VFX this happened in summer since i asked you in the jet animation thank you so much and appreciate every content keep crashing in blender
Wow I'm honored. Thanks for coming back to the channel to let us know!
Fantastic Breakdown!!!
Thanks for watching Kanellos!!
special thanks for your encouraging words
Thanks Andrew! I was hoping people would watch long enough to get to that part. :)
Wow!!!! So informative and inspiring!!!
Wow thank you so much! Glad it was inspiring for you as a photographer as well!
I also want to make cgi movies but don't know hoe to start. This channel is amazing to learn.
I think the first step is learning like you said. Then offering your skillset as a a service to smaller companies and indie filmmakers. Just a thought.
@@LightArchitect thanks
Thank you for the important information
Him Mr.3D. My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the encouragement!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching our channel!
THANK YOU for this
Thanks for watching Eng Gans!
I love your work ... i subscribe you to learn something in vfx .. Love from india 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thanks Advance World. Glad the videos are helpful!
Insanely cool how they do some of these via blender. :D
Thanks! Blender is incredibly powerful. Just overlooked because its free sometimes.
nice my bro
Thanks! Appreciate the support on the channel!
Thank you..😊
Thanks for watching Red Fox!
Awesome!

Thanks for watching our channel!
Love this one! Great ending note!
Thanks for watching!
Great explanation and nicely edited. I think you forgot to add the links of the credits (as mentioned at the end of the video)
Thanks Xanzuls CG. I had to make a new playlist for them here: ua-cam.com/play/PL4Pjqr7tZBKzxZyjeOXoX7guCs2yFrid5.html
Excellent overview.
I couldn't make out the three types of Tracking. I got points, planar?, and 3D masking. I'm familiar with the first and third but the middle one? Do you have a video on it?
When are you starting the course?
jc
Hi DeeCGI. Thanks so much for the input. Glad it was helpful. I don't have a video on planar tracking but perhaps I will make one soon. Essentially you use planar to track flat surfaces like street signs, billboards, Tv screens, etc when there is some parallax in the camera move but not enough to need a 3d track.
Perhaps we will make a course this year. Right now we're sharing as much as possible for free on this channel. So the bigger our channel gets the more likely we will do more specific content like that in the future.
Hope this helps!
Brad
Not a free tool, but check out @borisfx mocha planar tracking videos. They have some nice breakdowns on the method.
This video is so good I can’t believe that you can do amazing vfx in blender also do you know the main roles of vfx becouse I want to be a vfx artist but not sure what they actually do?
Well done, informative and concise.
Thank you very much!
super bro
Thanks!
Let's say I'm shooting SLOG3/SGamut3.Cine on my Sony ZV-E1 & FX3.. how would you start with VFX (mostly for explosions, dust, compositing etc etc ?
Before all the color grading? If yes what would be the exact steps?? Because LOG profiles are very flat I'm kinda confused ^^
Sir on which format files vfx will be worked , like our clip files will be in raw format you guys convert into other formats or work on raw files itself plz clear this doubt
Thanks for making this. Do Hollywood studios use exclusive software or do they use consumer level products?
You are welcome! It depends on the studio. Some of the really big studios use their own proprietary software but a lot uses standard 3d software like Maya, Blender, Houdini etc. It really depends. Most of the big compositing studios are using Nuke but now some studios using Fusion as well. Thanks for watching!
After watching the entire video I now realize...
VFX is not easy.
Ha. Well it's not easy. But everything is easier once you break it down. Baby steps.
thanks for info bro, i have a question. I work as freelance colorist for small and mid budget project. Generally those are not have CGI scenes. When it does how can i color it ? How can i request files from client to color ? What is the path ? ( i mean shot > CGI > compositing > color etc. or should i color each shot seperatedly then give them as alpha ?)
Hi Koray,
It depends on the studio but usually as the colorist you are only going to color the finished edit and rendered outputs. So they could put a rendered VFX sequence in the timeline like any other live action shot that you would color. If they want to see what the shot looks like with a basic lut added then they can add that lut within the compositing process to see what it will look like....but they will usually export to you something without the lut so you can do your job most effectively. Usually the colorist I work with want a flat or log image or even a raw file. So the VFX export would probably be something close to that. Hope this helps.
Scar looks soooooo gooood🥶🫠😵
I’m actually scared when I see his face!
I agree! It's crazy how real he looks right! Really well done!
Mate, one tip - your overlapping music is too loud because you have a very soft voice. When i put the volume up to hear you - the music becomes very distracting. I would recommend 10-20% lower volume for music.
Thank you for the input. Will dial back the music in the future.
1st step of VFX is CONCEPT ART
2nd Step is ASSET CREATION/ACQUISITION
...
Tracking is the first step of compositing.
Hmmmm. I can agree with before any of this is Concept Art is usually created. Not sure I agree with tracking being the first step in compositing. However this video is more of a breakdown of the steps in logical order to understand the process. Definately not set in stone and a lot of shots don't need certain techniques(Such as simulation and dynamics). Thanks for watching and the input. Provides a different perspective.
I've picked up on becoming the lighting artist which eventually is the rendering step, right?
Hi V. Being a lighting Artist sounds great! Knowledge of the rendering process is definitely important when it comes to being a lighting artist. I think the exact process would depend on the studio you are working with. Also depends on if you are becoming a lighting artist for realtime rendering or something more accurate with bounce lighting. You can learn a lot about shaping light and how to create a cinematic look from studying live action cinematography as well. A lot of vfx has to do with matching the CG lighting to the live action shot.
Hope this helps.
can you do a tutorial on how to use/intergrate custom characters with Horde
Hey Rodney, Likely in the future yes.
do you have any classes to learn
Not yet. We may make a few soon!
Is VFX part of the environmental 3d modelling? Will it replace 3d animation for the future? Any risk from the AI?
3D Modeling environments is part of the VFX process yes. 3D animation is part of Visual Effects as well. As far as AI goes personally I think AI is going to be utilized in all of these fields. However unless/until the singularity occurs I believe that AI is just going to be another level of abstraction we can use to create things.
what program is it
This video shows vfx created with a variety of 3d programs and vfx compositing softwares. However our youtube channel, LightArchitect, focuses mostly on vfx and live action filmmaking with Blender 3d and Adobe After Effects. Thanks for watching us!
I understand nearly the whole pipeline i used 3d equatizer pftrack syntheyes mocha nuke fusion blender.. u can head a channel names houdini G is mine
Awesome! It's great to know the whole pipeline!
How to tracking human body ?
I love this.. do you have any social media handle
Our social media handle is @lightarchitectlabs
Bro, in this video BGM is little bit loud..
Thank you for the input. :)
You need to drop the music in your audio track and also compress your voice more. Its very hard to understand,
Geez looks hard to do
Takes some time to learn. But breaking it down helps.
And then all these hard works would be meaningless if the story of the film isn't good enough 😂😂
True! Visuals are there to tell the story!
Seems really difficult for me scared
You can do it!
Bro please we need advance tutorial on Maya for explosion sci fi scene space fluids and all the stuff on Maya we need bro for industrial level please help us
Love your content 💕
Hi Maaz,
Thanks for the input. That's a great Idea. Unfortunately I don't know myself how to do explosions with Maya. But perhaps that could be something we bring in a guest for on the channel. It's not out of the question.
@@LightArchitect thank you so much for your positive reply brother I am waiting for it ❤️
You are missing many steps
- texture and shading are not the same steps
- layout scene assembly
- crowd
- environnement cgi
- matte painting
- prep paint essential for cosmetcs
- groom for character, cloth and environnement
- cfx character effect, like cloth, shapre correction, interraction
Interesting input. You can break down the steps in this video in to many more individual steps. However for the purposes of understanding the VFX process as a whole we have found this breakdown useful. Thanks for watching our video and for your input!
Turn up the music, I CANT HEAR YOU!
Lmao.
I was too scared to dive in so I skipped the rest of the video....
:D:D:D Hilarious.
Great stuff as always...by the way I just recently purchased Khaos..(order id# 994005) but I'm confused as to which zip file i should install..there are 9 of them, and no instructions for installing which file for what. Please clarify ... I'm using Blender 3.3 ..please reply asap I have an urgent deadline with a client I need to meet by Monday
Hi Rodney,
Thank you for the support! For Blender 3.3 simply use the install file "khaos3_4_singlepy_wdestoolsparticles_v11.zip"
Also make sure that you have a collection in your blender scene with the name "Collection" so there are no scripting errors. Should be there by default. Good luck on your project.
@@LightArchitect Thank you for your prompt reply..appreciate it ..as always U da man 😄
