@@theetravisbI’m 19 almost 20 and I love old cars and trucks like this and videos like yours make me wanna fix one up to become a fun daily driver, love the videos and keep up the good work like you always do
Nice to see you actually rebuilding a motor rather than just just getting one that's already rebuilt. Like most do on you tube. Good Job, Travis! Learn all you can from your Dad, it is wonderful he is helping you.
I see how much wisdom and knowledge your Dad has. He has taught you a lot. Senior citizens should be respected honored. Just sit down and talk to them. They have experienced life and know a lot! The Lord bless you and your Dad!
Sorry but first time watching your Chanel that truck looks great and I think you should do a full restoration paint it make that engine looks and work new even I see looks like originally the truck was sky-blue after that enjoy it I love it and just imagine how will look 😀 ❤❤❤❤
Dad saves the day 😁. He is a national treasure… reminds me so much of my dad (may he rest in peace). Love your videos and seeing you guys work on stuff together. Thank you for saving so many old things, and for sharing the experience.
Huge props for getting the old 216 up and running enough to give her one more moment of glory in her original home and now being put to a great cause. Kudos! Loved every minute of it.
I was just tooling around the tubes and caught this video, liked it so I subscribed. Now I have a 1941 Chevy 3/4 ton staring at me, and so it begins. Great videos.
Friends! Greetings from Russia! Thanks for this release. I look with pleasure. This pickup truck had never been delivered to us, and I was interested to see the repair and how it worked. Thank you. I love old American cars.
Hey Travis, Scott from KY here. I’ve been watching UA-cam videos like this for many years. Seen a lot come and go. I think that you have got it! No BS and a bunch of dumb laughing at everything. Great editing and hard work. That’s my two cents. Good luck. Great video
Travis, I used to sell tools to all the shops and one of my Union 76 stations burned to the ground because of one of those old drop lights. They had it hanging from a cord reel and one day they were using it over an engine bay and it dropped and broke the bulb. The spark from the bulb lit off some flammable liquid, gas or oil. That's why most shops stopped using incandescent droplights and shifted to flourescent/LED lights. Be very careful with that light. There's a reason they are in antique shops.
What I like so much about your show is that you do things the way most of us do it. The hard way, we don’t have a lot of equipment or a lot of money to spend, but yet we get the project done. Keep up the good work. I really like your show.
My friend, for a truck that has been sitting for nearly sixty years it is VERY solid and straight. This era of Chevy trucks is hands down my favorite. My brother has a 1954 3100 that has been updated to a 350 and a 4 speed that he is currently doing a frame off resto on. I like how thorough you are when you are working on something. Keep up the great work!
What an epic adventure, thanks for bringing along. I think you covered the full Gamet of turning a rust bucket into a relic. You and your dad and all who took part in this monumentous project deserve the utmost credit.
One of your best videos, Travis! Keep it up. Fly and drives are cool, but this was less dramatic and more of what I want. Your dad is a gem, but I know that you know that.
Thanks for giving us a start to finish experience in a single episode. The whitewall tyres and the visor look really sharp! I'll be re-playing this one....
I love seeing that old Air Force blue in the door jams. Being an A/F brat, I was used to seeing these on bases where we lived. My dad got a '64 at auction. He rattle canned it some ugly green and I learned how to drive in that thing.
Funny how your amazed with your dad. I had my son when I was 20. He’s 27 now and is still amazed about what I did when I was 27. All I can say is I’m glad my son has lived longer with less big people problems.i promise he didn’t suffer. It’s a trade off
I love the Chevy! I had a 1950 GMC (similar to your Chevy). When I was in the Army, my older brother gave it to his father in law so I never saw it again. what a great relationship you have with your dad.
I swear this is such a underrated channel! I found it when I was watching an episode of the pole barn garage. Such a skilled dude!! Just keep up the great work fella!! You are doing some great work over there!!
I watched every minute with rapt attention...great job on this project! I like the long-form videos just as much as the shorter ones. You and your Dad do excellent work, and your resourcefulness is noteworthy!
Your dad sounds a bit like Sam Elliot. Looks like a great restoration, and you’re going to be extremely grateful to have this recorded in years to come. Thanks for sharing this!
Another great video! I bet it’s super fun to cruise around in that ol girl! Shout out to pops! He brings back so great memories of my pops! You and him have cars and pick up, mine had antique Harley’s.
Being 69 and everything I agree with dad not for a age thing or anything but if you have any oil leaks anywhere they are easily found and it shows pride in your work
This is what I needed today ! Really enjoyed watching you & Your Dad work together the way y'all re-use or fix something instead of throwing parts at it . This is actually my favorite build ! Well that old crane video & your Diesel videos are definitely runners up . Thanks for the KeWL Videos Travis ! Godspeed on your Travels & Adventures !
got to be honest driven that sound before. all they way to the top of hill a rolled her down the other side to tacoma. then it got a 283.steering was a bit loose. never went back on the highway. mostly yelm, roy and the bald hills. fun times. thanks for the memory.
I’m amazed that a 76 year old truck still has a standard size crankshaft! Have you ever had the pleasure of rebuilding one of the old style Babbitt bearing Chevys? I’ve never had the opportunity to but I definitely would love to at least watch someone in person do it.
Nice looking 1948 chevy love the body style we love the antique automobiles me and my wife does keep up the good work and keep bringing the old automobiles back to life they deserve it
@theetravisb it runs so nice and sweet it's the real deal it's great that someone like you and your dad take the time to bring them back I love it we use to own 2 1966 chevy impalas but I sold them I should have kept them I only got to drive one of them for 2 years they were both original glad the old truck is back on the road again have a wonderful day
I'm a couple of days behind on your video. Great job. You got lucky with your dad having that head. Your dad bought tools when the were good tools . They build as good of tools today. Hang on to them .
I thought I was having Deja Vu, then i realized what the description said. I seen this truck before. 😂😂 so you hooked me into watching again, you rascal. Nah its all good. Im a Dodge truck Guy but i still love old Detroit steel. 👍🏻👏from Toledo.
i think your first htought to leave the engine unpainted was the best. it was quite colorful and would have added plenty of contrast to the rusted body parts.
Maaaan! I really love it 😻 i'm from Morocco by the way unfortunately i never have the chance to own an old American car but still watching all your videos. Keep up the great job and send my greetings to your dad a living legend 👍🏻
That was a quick 3 hrs... Love those 3 windows... Truck turned out nice... Substitute your WD-40 and PB for a 50-50 mixture of Acetone and automatic transmission fluid... It makes WD Look like water.. Squirt a little on every bolt or nut or linkage that you figure you'll have to put a wrench on... It will make disassembly a lot easier with less stripped bolts and nuts... And it's dirt cheap to make and will last a long time... See you soon...
Travis, something I learned a long time ago, and I have no idea of it's veracity, when a radiator sits for a long time and completely dries out, the scale inside of it will chip off and clog the tubes. So, it's a smart thing to do to fill it up and give it a real good flush out. When you take a radiator off, if it has fluid in it, store it that way. Full up is the best way to keep it moist inside. Ask your Dad and see if he has heard that. I'd be curious. Also, you never did tell us how you made the fan blade fit. What did you end up doing?
Hi Travis, I saw another UA-cam car guy that also deals with unsticking rusty engines use Evapo Rust. He filled the cylinders on a stuck engine with the stuff, waited like a day and got it to rotate (he may have topped them of once or twice too, I don't remember...). He said it works every time...
Snap-On should sponsor you, talking about 40 + years of use from the same tools. I cheapen out on tools I use only occasionally but spend the money on everyday use tools.

Great video. My grandpa had a truck like that and I remember helping him do an in frame rebuild on the engine.
Great job you guys have some talent that’s for sure!
Thanks Kevin !
For pilot bushing I’ve used a balled up soaking wet paper towel. Stuff it in and the water pushes bushing out. Less messy than grease.

You did a great job of restoring that old Chevy. It was good to see that you kept it original and didn't "butcher" it by trying to modernize it.

A world of difference. Big kudos to you and your dad for putting the old gal back on the road where she belongs.
A little tip. Put rubber hoses on the connecting rod bolts to prevent them from scratching the crank shaft when you are installing them
I'm 84 and I'm with your Dad paint the motor

Concerning the details I agree. If it's supposed to have a dome light, it should be in and should be working. I'm the same way.
