7.8/10 is a very fair score. It’s universally agreed upon that the 1st game is better anyway. The sequel was good, but felt like a step back in some ways. I personally thought it was a 7/10 at best, while the 1st is a solid 8.5/10
Started with the flail cause I felt it was a more unique weapon that swords like in most metroidvania, but I feel I might have missed out on the combat cause I was just jumping and wacking things at maximum range. Only use the sword weapon for the rapier boss and the second form of the final boss. Barely used spells or special moves. But I do plan on doing other playthrough by maining the other weapons.
Just because you blur out the boss name doesn’t mean that you aren’t still spoiling the boss. A lot of what made the first game great was it’s awesome bosses. Now I watch your review and there’s like 5+ boss fights you show. I had to listen to the review instead of watch it
@jojozaka I trust these people review and it says no spoilers. So then they show spoilers…. Like I said I had to listen to it instead of actually watch it.
Absolutely cannot wait for a substantial enough sale. Metroidvania is one of my favorite genres. The dark setting and the way the story is told in the original has made me revisit the original lately and the story is sticking a bit more the second time around, which is awesome because the world they built is so damn good. Salt and Sanctuary is another really good one to play through it you like the dark setting, you gotta get passed the way the character looks though, kind of silly in my opinion, but the monsters are beautifully made, art, variation, and unique abilities, seriously worth a playthrough or two. In any case a good metroidvania will keep me busy for hours, I love the exploration and the problem solving when encountering a new monster. I try go into the games as blind as possible, only looking stuff up if I've been stuck for a couple hours without figuring out what to do next (which rarely happens).
I started out with the balanced sword, but the ball and chain is really powerful and a lot of fun. Not sure if it was because I was acclimated to the game by when I got it but it felt easier.
I would definitely suggest the flail. If you do a little hit to kill test on the blue ghost dummy In the weapon choosing room it takes 24 hits with the dual blades, 17 hits with the single sword and 5 hits with the flail 😆....and it was just fun as hell overall to use, especially with the fire proc on it and you can build that up pretty quick to be able to use it quite often! I love the new upgrade system!
Hello ,i am facing a game breaking bug at Ps5 and i cant progress the game, could you please help me? I have kill Lesmes/infant boss but at the character sheet it is not registered. It shows only 2/3 guardians down . Therefore i can't progress the game . Any ideas?
@@aeriagloris4211 Yes it was Orospina after all that was bugged, i did re-enter the arena and it let me fight her again and i did finish the game thankfully Thanks for asking!
I loved the first blasphemous and seeing the coming of a second had me so stoked. With the addition of weapon variety and even more mechanics I was surprised with the price of the pre-order being under 59.99 like other… games (I will not point fingers but you get what I mean). If this game flops the apocalypse might as well happen imo
I am genuinely disappointed that they didn't drop the PS4 version today. If it's basically the same as the first game as far as graphics, animated cut scenes not withstanding, from what I've seen and the PS5 basically has the same controller as a 4, how hard is it to translate that? How come they have no problem making a game forwards compatible soo fast, but us poor last gen gamers who couldn't find a damned new gen system when they had the chance and money to do so, because "there was a supply shortage"and nobody had them in stock, are still waiting in PENANCE to start OUR PILGRIMAGE?
@@producerdevelopment Yes now. Not when I had the money and means to purchase it responsibly, like when they first came out. Adulting is hard ya know. The lore seems incongruous to you because you don't know the background of Semana Santa in the south of Spain, it is totally natural for an Anglo-Saxon person not to know the Spanish Catholic culture and its iconography in which the lore of the game is inspired.
@@nunuonroad9969 People are daft... die hard fan bois most likely. Blasphemous was a mid-tier game. The sequel is more of the same, but slightly better, as I understand it. An 8, basically, is extremely generous if you ask me, but it shows that the game has at least progressed a bit, and that is reflected in a slightly better score. People need to chill out. I wouldn't even give Elden Ring a 10/10, even though people keep gushing over it and even though I've played it for like 200+ hours.
@@Diree 200+? Seems like you liked the game, first blasphemous is cool yeah, idk is 7.8 is extremely generous, the game doesn’t look bad, but I feel like 8 or 7.8 is a good score
@@N0SK96 Yes, I liked Elden Ring. That doesn't mean it's a 10/10 for me. Whether a score is justified or not is always down to personal preferences. There have been 6s or 7s I really enjoyed and 9s I found absolutely garbage. The point is that Blasphemous 2 isn't doing anything extraordinary, especially in light of the first game. It's the same with Remnant 2, to be honest. Both are basically refinements of their predecessor. Whether that's worth an 8 or 9 or whatever other arbitrary number you want to give it, doesn't matter. That's why videos and text exists, so people can find out more and decide for themselves, whether they're bothered by the same things the reviewer are. There's a channel called Worth a Buy who basically hates on most games, yet you can still get useful information from the videos. Another channel, ACG, does completely different reviews, and, shocking, reviewers not always agree with one another. I just don't get the sheer amount of hatred here, because someone expressed their opinions.
Our score is an average of all categories. The audiovisual (which includes performance) had points subtracted from a 10 because i didn't find the sound score compelling, I had controller issues including input lag on weapon switches, and the graphics are ok but are not at the top of the industry or at the top of this kind of game either - the artstyle is great and fun, but a difficult to read font and blurry small pixel graphics aren't a 10 either. Losing a bit from each subcategory averages that category down.
Not to mention it's basically the exact same art style as the 1st game. One group of people will love that it stays the same, the other probably wants to see SOME kind of improvement. Heck, this looks exactly like B1, even down to the environmental stuff. You could consider this a huge DLC. That does not have to be a negative, but why people are complaining when the game still got an 8 basically, is beyond me ... sorry, but B2 certainly isn't a 10/10 game 0o An 8 is better than average, which is a 7. And the only thing that makes Blasphemous even that great is the unique setting and the fun boss fights. The rest is VERY standard fare.
I think a lot of people really like the game and have a special attraction to its themes and it's hard for them to understand someone else may see it differently. It happens often with reviews, as everyone is different. I really enjoyed the game but I'm not going to inflate the score - it's fun and worth it but it's not going to blow your mind.
High Fidelity graphics aren't the only feature that adds value to the Design and Visual aspects for a game. How much do you rate Hollow Knight/Hyper Light Drifter/Eastward on Design and Visual? These games are three of the best looking games out there. We have such a pathetic example where high graphics fidelity has resulted into ill-fated performance issues in many games namely Lord of the Fallen. The same game has no art style, no color theme, no visual treat and the only thing they utilise is the high fidelity of the engine itself. Rating a game 7 in Design and Visual is immature and pathetic just because it has pixel art.
@@Diabeticninja90 I assure you I am not tripoing, compared to basically every other game in this genre the combat can be very slow feeling and at times movement was stiff and somewhat clunky. Wasn't a knock at the first title it's combat just didn't feel as polished to the same degree the art was. My question was simply asking if they improved it.
No offense but I think your review is very wrong and wrongly done. I think the reviewer didn't play the first game or didn't understand it because the music, design and visuals of the game play a huge role in creating the world, the characters and the quests which are based, partly, on events from the Spanish Inquisition. Judging the game only by the price at the end is a detriment to the developers. You can't judge a game only by dividing the price over an amount of hours that you think you'll play. By this logic, BG3 is a steal considering the 70-100 hours range. Poorly done review, you clearly missed the Spanish lore references.
You can disagree, but a review is the subjective opinion of the reviewer. I have played the first game, and I really enjoyed this game. However our scoring system applies to all games and covers all aspects to give every part of our audience an opportunity to take on. I did understand the references, but I don't think the narrative is good, and the overall delivery of the crescendo is not on par with story-driven games (which nobody should expect) but is a lesser score for people who are looking for a story. Gameplay is great! Minor issues of variety Pricepoint and replayability is actually a very important aspects for many gamers and this game is a really good deal. I use these categories on all games and we have a consistent scoring system for them. You can disagree with my opinions, of course, but this is my review and not yours.
This is easily 2023's greatest dissapointment. Not once I ever died to a Boss, progression is way too linear with no real sense of having to make any effort of learning the bosses' patterns or gitgud. Never I had to use parry to deal with difficult situations, because there were none, you simply plow through enemies with little effort. Puzzles can be solved by 3yo toddlers as they require no thought. Unlockables or 'secrets' are telegraphed to the player every single time. But if all that doesn't scream training wheels and design laziness, you add prayers which obliterate anything with very little effort. Dissapointing game indeed.
Damn they gave this game a good review, but not a perfect 10... and all these salty kids are complaining about anything possible 😂 keep it up fextralife you guys contribute way more to the community than these basement dwelling cry babies!
What a terrible review !!! One of the worst I have seen in this channel. Throwing an intern who seens to have no knowledge of what the first game was to review a game such as Blasphemous 2.
2023 and still using the average of multiple points to give a note...? And giving worth to a game for how much it costs by hour? This looks like a 2008 review. Media deserves better.
Agree. This boring formulaic approach to reviewing is dumb. Imagine reviewing a TV show based on how many episodes there are. It's a quantitative approach that makes no sense whatsoever. Art should be reviewed in terms of its uniqueness, and consideration should be given to what niche the art belongs to. For example, no one plays metroidvania games for narrative, and most metroidvania players are more interested in gameplay than graphics, with some even having a special appreciation for pixel art. It doesn't make sense to slap on a low score for pixel art just because of how it compares to big budget modern games. And let's not forget, Fextralife literally got to where it is today because of its Dark Souls reviews and guides, and Dark Souls is another game that didn't have great graphics, but had incredible art direction, very much like Blasphemous. You'd think they'd put more emphasis on the gameplay and art direction considering those are obviously the 2 main selling points for the game.
What's wrong with giving Worth to a game by how much it costs by hour? This is an astute and intelligent way to view fun time activities/media consumption. You sound like you just want something erroneous to complain about.
@@aeriagloris4211 Astute and intelligent? lmao. What? It's neither. It's never been a good way to measure the value of a game. Literally never. Many people will take 5 hours of quality over 100 hours of mediocrity. It's about the experience. You're paying to experience a piece of art, not min-maxing hours of entertainment. This is especially true of grown adults who have less free time and value their time more than teenagers.
its good to see that the studio is doing well and brought a sequel to blasphemous 1, but they really should have invested more on new fetures like costumization and maybe a multiplayer for it... 😶🌫
Shambles of a review. This is nothing to do with the score. There was zero mention of the theme, the darkness of the world vs the light religion is sold in, the horror that resides in this world. That is what seperates this game from others, hence why there is a sequel. I appreciate the non-spolier aspect regarding story and bosses etc, but i think the point has been missed here.
" basic and serviceable score, albeit a forgettable one." "do not expect to have the soundtrack of this game on your wishlist" Wow, highly subjective of you, what can I say.
The announcers annoying voice and seeming ignorance about general game understanding is abysmal. I couldn’t make it through to even hear the verdict. Please bring back the other reviewer(s) for this channel.

I had to listen to the review instead of watch it
so don't watch a video review then.
@0:23 the pentinent one? ......huh?
So far, I feel like this one toned down the difficulty level a little bit so far, still loving the game though
Which weapon do you suggest starting out with?
I started out with the balanced sword, but the ball and chain is really powerful and a lot of fun. Not sure if it was because I was acclimated to the game by when I got it but it felt easier.
@@Fextralife thanks for your input. I was leaning that way too, but the flail looks like it does a ton more damage.
It really does! xD I felt silly after I started using it and everything died in one or two hits lol
Graphics are 10/10 - excellent *for the style*. I can see how the audio might be lackluster tho.
YOU CAN SLIDE UNDERNEATH THE KNIGHT GUY ... GOD DAMNIT
We need a better mic, great review.
Whoever is doing the narration on this could use a better pop screen filter for their mic.
how is the first one almost 3,5gb on the switch.. and the blasphemous 2 is not even 2gb.. is the game smaller??
Hello ,i am facing a game breaking bug at Ps5 and i cant progress the game, could you please help me?
I have kill Lesmes/infant boss but at the character sheet it is not registered. It shows only 2/3 guardians down . Therefore i can't progress the game . Any ideas?
Any luck?

All of the main game and dlc music was great for blasphmous 1. :(
It didn't really stick with me in the way I'd wished, but everyone is different so maybe you'll love it.
Wait, the game’s out already ?!
In about couple of hours.
Ps5s are literally available everywhere rn
@@producerdevelopment Yes now. Not when I had the money and means to purchase it responsibly, like when they first came out. Adulting is hard ya know. Inflation is terrible and cost of living has gone up the past 3 years at an disproportionly accelerated rate. It wouldn't be a smart purchase for me at this juncture.
Me: Drop Hundreds of dollars on a PS5 for one game I want or eat, get gas and pay bills....hmmm.

The lore seems incongruous to you because you don't know the background of Semana Santa in the south of Spain, it is totally natural for an Anglo-Saxon person not to know the Spanish Catholic culture and its iconography in which the lore of the game is inspired.
The real Blasphemy here is the score of 7.8.
What do you think this game deserves?! If Elden Ring is a 10 this game getting a 7.8 is extremely generous.
Imagine thinking this is a 9 and Elden ring is 10. 7.8 is a GOOD score, what is wrong with y’all
@@nunuonroad9969 People are daft... die hard fan bois most likely.
Im 15 hours on and the game looks amazing!! and in october "THE LAST FAITH" is coming🔥🔥!!
It really seems like you guys just subtracted 3 points from visual design because the game is 2d
That does not have to be a negative, but why people are complaining when the game still got an 8 basically, is beyond me ... sorry, but B2 certainly isn't a 10/10 game 0o
An 8 is better than average, which is a 7.
@@Fextralife That's what reviews are for. They're opinions, but whatever, guess we're just toxic. *shrugs*

Value per dollar on par with Hollow Knight. Gorgeous visuals, combat feels great. No bugs. Finished on release. A fantastic souls-like metroidvania.
If there is a DLC in this game or NG+, I will score it to 10/10
It will get dlcs like the first game
Oh FFS forgot about this. Why a day before AC whyyyyyy 😢
What's ac?
A 7 for design & visual says they picked the wrong person to do this review
Hugeeeeeee L giving desighn and visuals a 7... what is her 10/10 visuals i wonder.
Does the combat feel less sluggish than the first game?
Sluggish ? Your tripoing
@@MrMustard2112 It has improved, you have 3 weapons, from slow to fast, also you can dodge, parry, double jump, dash.
Minor issues of variety
Pricepoint and replayability is actually a very important aspects for many gamers and this game is a really good deal.
I use these categories on all games and we have a consistent scoring system for them. You can disagree with my opinions, of course, but this is my review and not yours.
@@omensoffate What's the defence here? "Hey, I hate your opinion, you have to change it to my opinion". Is that what you're saying?

This game looks amazing!
Action-platformer and Metroidvania - are NOT the same thing at all.
Well, atleast Blasphemous 2 did come out before The Last Faith.
Anyone who played the game know you are lying. Level design in this game is impeccable. Didn't die to bosses? Tell me another one

I would not call this game an arpg.. but okay
@@justsomerandomguymanyou sound like a crazy person LMAO. She didn't "slap on a low score for Pixel art" what is wrong with you.
Who is this talking, what happened to the guy?
this looks no different from the first one
And?
its good to see that the studio is doing well and brought a sequel to blasphemous 1, but they really should have invested more on new fetures like costumization and maybe a multiplayer for it...
I'm baffled by the pricepoint evaluation. Not even when I was a kid I'd decide a game's worth based on dollar x hour.
It's a perfectly valid, sensible metric
...this is not an action RPG
"Action RPG"?!?! lol
