Amazing memory man and thank you for sharing this. My dad got me into gaming by gifting me Nintendo for Xmas and n64 for my bday. I’m lucky to still have him around, but the memories still hold fresh. Happy gaming. 🍻
Having this, BG3, Starfield, and CP2077's expansion all come out within a short window is tough since all are big time sinks. As much as I want AC6, I'm not even halfway through BG3 so ill have to get it at a later date

One recommendation I will offer for everyone: Increase your camera speed. The default of 5 feels fine, but will feel sluggish once you're up against the first boss. The downside to it though is that you'll notice the large deadzone that can't be changed.
I tried it, and while the mouse speed is nice, everything else too foreign for me. I just stuck to the controller and set the camera speed to max since that’s what I was used to.

I was gonna jump into this one later in the year, but after watching a bunch of reviews yesterday, I decided to buy it. I can't wait to play it tonight.
I hope you'll like it. A lil' heads up though, the first boss may push you away. But give it a chance, maybe 7+ missions while tinkering your mech. Before you put the game down.
I'm so happy with the small tweaks they made to be easier for casual players as a veteran AC player for multi-player. AC can be much harder then souls games in some past title missions. (ACFA last orca mission on hard 1v5) but that's why I love it. After you fail something 50-100x it just makes you adapt, and learn.

FromSoft has never been about cutting edge graphics, they are all about excellent art design and immersive worlds and they succeed on both consistently.
@@Nethezbetyou don’t know that for sure, they could push further in graphics when in development, but that could hinder gameplay due to time constraints having to focus on the other. I’d rather they focus on gameplay and the graphics be manageable then the latter
@@erroneouse1929 I mean, of course I don't know for sure. I am a random person making comments on the internet. I had forgotten I even made this one =P No one knows anything, we just comment with opinions and move on.
Nobody was saying that you were saying the game was bad due to comparatively weaker graphical fidelity; what everybody was disagreeing with was the belief of its level importance in visual presentation, especially the implication that fidelity is more important than art direction and atmosphere. On top that, using Elden Ring as an example was very confusing, considering that MANY see it as one of the most visually stunning games of all time. Not to mention the various drawbacks that come with higher fidelity, such as its impact on performance, storage, PC requirements, increased development time to make sure it all happens AND make sure it functions with everything else, and so on. Demon's Souls Remake is a much smaller game than ER, and yet, demanded an equal amount of storage space (a bit less now with the patches, but on release, ER was just around 50G).
In bringing up ER, I became especially more puzzled when he also mentioned that AC6 needed better fidelity because it is a mech game as opposed to a high fantasy game. As someone who has played both types, I thought it was odd that genre also determined its importance. That, and AC6 is flashy already; fidelity won't change that.
Excellent review as always. Thank you for the well detailed look. I never played Armored Core before, but am interested in this one. This video helped me get a handle on what to expect from the experience, Cheers!
This is my very first Armored Core game. Within the first hour I've been hooked. The fast paced game play reminds me of Robotech Battlecry for the PS2. I don't know how long it'll take but I want to 100% on Xbox
From Software has become the most prolific triple A developer in recent times. No other developer has release game after game the way they have over the last 5 or 6 years. A big part of that is probably their engine, and it is possible that cutting edge visuals and tech are going impede that. I am not trying to defend them, completely. Yeah, I would like to see the visual upgrade, but I also don't want to see it get in their way of producing content. They are one of the most consistent developers in the industry right now. I will take the first gameplay and consistency over better visuals any day. If they will just give me native widescreen support...
I've not played one since the 2nd game in the series back on ps2 I believe it was, but this looks worth a go. And the fact its not open world is not surprising I imagine if its based around war missions you would expect to have a set map layout but this normally means it adds a higher level of strategy to get missions finished. But no coop for story seems like a big downside as I don't like pvp much in many games and doubt it will be any different for this game
I think why the graphics can be done better is because they made it so older consoles like Xbox One (I have one and use it cuz I’m poor lol) and ps4 can play bad run it without many problems. It is probably good for sales too,
This seems like a good game but by no means looks like a genre defining one, nor a Game of the Year competitor. I'm not sure I'm interested and I'll probably pass on this FromSoftware's game.
Since the genre have almost no competition this goes to the top 1 of the rare mech games release , glad from software did not abandon this franchise, definitely getting this!!
do you know what the last Mech game was? ( i mean shooter like this so not like BattleTech) because the last game even somewhat similar to this i played was Heavy Gear 25 years ago and i know there have been games sinds but i dont even know there names.
@@Ramotttholl you are right, the games are so rare that is hard to even lab their names, the last one's i played are The previous armored cores "4" and "5" around 10 years ago and then "Daemon X maquina" on steam that released 2020, a bit more cartunish but a good game...
I feel like the actual playthrough of the core game is severely disjointed. Like most of the missions are just boring and braindead, then you come up against a handful of bosses throughout that are more difficult than any FROM boss until you just say to hell with it and look up the brute force builds. A lot of people love the Strider mission and i just dont really get it. It wasn't remotely captivating from a gameplay perspective, and the spectacle doesnt last long enough to be awe inspiring. Which i guess is my main issue with the combat as someone who never played these games before. It doesnt feel like it pays to learn boss movement. Its all about finding the combination that stacks the most damage to stagger so they can't do any of their bullshit. I feel like the core gameplay loop looks good but the more I play the more im just not finding it kinda repetitive and unfun.
Video Describtion "Reviewed on: PC (Steam)" YAY this is what i was looking for. (especially sinds some devs/publishers dont seem to care to PC version optimized.) Kinda surprised it wasnt mentioned at the start and he went right into it. but describtion helped out well.
I don’t mind the low visual fidelity😂 I was debating buying the most recent console, but now I can simply buy this game and be content until the Elden Ring dlc drops. Thanks from soft for saving me hundreds of dollars.
While the visuals of the environments arent going to win any awards, i think its commendable that everyone seems to think the game has rock solid performance and stable frame rate. For this type of game i think that is more important and i understand the sacrifice
The environments and level design look absolutely amazing to me, I think its unique and gritty and I'll take this stylistic look over ue5 realism graphics any day
Ya it looks absolutely fine. It has to run absolutely smooth. I don't understand this criticism. Wait till u see a next gen only game from fromsoftware. It's going to look amazing
Fr. I do think graphics are important to a degree, but the deciding factor for me is if the game is FUN. I'm not inspecting the environments to see how many pixels this random wall texture has.
Disagree on the graphics comments, while yes, DMC5 is visually great, the level design is atrocious, it sacrificed intricate level designs for horrible samey looking hallways.
Just a few more hours... can't wait to get absolutely LOST in my first Amrored Core game! P.S: Will you be doing any build videos for this game, Fextra? I'm planning on just unlocking and trying out everything, but there sure seems to be a lot.
I’m not sure I’ll have time, I’m still working on bg3 content and have starfield coming up as well. I did write some of the combos I used for beating the game here armoredcore6.wiki.fextralife.com/Builds
After NG4 with Elden Ring & NG6 with Sekiro, I'm absolutely going to be getting AC even if the games are fundamentally different. "From" has absolutley won my trust.
Graphics/textures being below current standards needs to be mentioned. Its not a diss at the game, and def doesnt ruin a game, but its not wrong to mention it on a review.
No not really, the game has like 30 different types of finishes and rust you can apply to your AC, are those not textures? is it some how bad and below standards that they included that??
I originally thought Id sit out on this one, but after all these good reviews I have changed my mind. Im buying it! Also, Its From Soft. It simply HAS to be good, `cause that's the way they roll.
Will definitely be picking this up.. finally got a PS5 after all this time with Demon souls (my first time) and Returnal so ill probably play AC6 on there..
Excellent review as usual Fextra. I’ve played most FS games (a lot) but never AC. Can’t really feel this game is for me though… wish there was a demo to try out the mechanics. Anyway just sharing some thoughts
I wonder how pc performance on release is like. First ac game players get to play on a proper gaming rig. Update: Got everything maxed out(except dof and motion blur) Holding @ 4k 55-60fps on a 3080.
A cool, spoilerfree and balanced review, but come on man, serviceable graphics ? You can't possibly be that jaded and delusional ? Just say you're not a fan of the choice the art direction made, that you're not convinced with their choice of a depressing brutalist ex-living planet, but that game graphics are a lot more than serviceable... It's performant, legible, and stylized, why would you want anything else ? It reeks of both passion, great knowledge of the worlds they cite, and profound technical ability, and ffs, it was my first AC game or even dip into the "mech" aesthetic ever, so i'm far from a biaised superfan. UE5 or any other "shinier" engine wouldnt have changed anything, just like a million shitty shovelwares that look factually amazing prove every single day, "fidelity" doesnt mean anything in this industry, it's a dull concept that's only ever cited when there's litterally nothing else to note in a creation in the videoludic meduim, and i'm really surprised to hear that, worded and presented so pityfully coming from such a serious channel. Get real, this is getting embarrassing to watch.
How does the game control on Mouse and Keyboard versus controller? As a Mechwarrior Online veteran, I'm interested to see if there is any advantage to either input method
The thing is this game HAS to run absolutely buttery smooth from how fast paced action this game is. Its cross gen with fast movement across the map tons of effects. This is probably why the grfx arnt super amazing and that's fine. I don't get this criticism.
Haven't beaten the first chapter yet I'm stuck at the very end (you know, THIS PART ON THE ROOF) but I'm absolutely loving the game, missions are fun and actually quite challenging if you're not paying attention you can go down pretty fast (relative to your build ofc), there is a plethora of viable builds to discover, secret encounters, ennemy variety is a-ok but the best part for me is the atmosphere : some may call it bland but I see this world as the embodiment of corporate greed left basically unchecked 10/10, will buy AC again
Just watched the accolades trailer, the game seemed to service everyone pretty good. Lotta compliments on the graphics seemed like they really broke that market norm again
I agree, as a huge fan of From..they really should consider pushing their skillset in wielding the latest graphics technology to match their industry leading gameplay and design. When you've played Demons Souls remake, it really does emphasise how lacking From are, in this department.
I hard disagree. Their games are beautiful, and the adherence to some supposed higher standard has distracted studios from trying to make a good game. They focus on designing games visuals with style over a slavish devotion to trying to create lifelike visuals. I hope people stop doing that entirely with games and if people are interested in developing that, then I hope they devote themselves to tech demos instead of video games.
@@vincentbatten4686 I agree gameplay over graphics if I have to choose, everytime. My point is I dont want to choose 😅 If you've got a killer rig or new gen console its great to see games that shine, making full use of he hardware, in my opinion 👍
@@vincentbatten4686I dissagree games like Kingdom come are prefect for that type of design all depends on the game. There is new game with photo real graphics that looks insane games need to have a vaierty of looks games without realistic graphics would kill immersion for some games.
@@shakybeevessouls Sure, I think what I'm trying to say though is that From Soft games are beautiful so I don't think I'm having to choose. Visual art, or really any art for that matter, is purely subjective. If the From Soft games aren't visually appealing, I hope that the kind of visual presentation you prefer gets packaged with a game you like soon.
@@John-996 I agree that variety is important, certainly. I didn't play Kingdom Come, so I can't exactly speak to that, but for a grim dark fantasy I can see a realistic style working in theory, but I also look at wartales and it has a very muddy palate with a zoomed out perspective and I think it visually works well for that game as you are meant to be a disposable crew of humans who are far less important than the world you occupy. It doesn't have a high fidelity world, but that doesn't ruin the immersion at all. Again, it's certainly subjective.
The environments are plain otherwise they would end up being too distracting. They focused on the mechs and weapons because that’s the meat of the game
Those boss fights fuuuuuu I didn’t think I was gonna bother with this but the combat does look good… my god Am currently busy with Baldurs gate, curious with starfield and now this. Finally gaming is being saved
First chapter and I already had a jaw dropping moment that had me standing up from the spectacle of what was happening around me and the insane escape I was still in the middle of. Definitely some memorable moments so far. Baldur’s Gate is on my list but I don’t know I’d have that kind of time right now lol
Personally, I've never played this series before, but I'm quite interested in this game. I do think by what I've seen, it might look better in First Person. My guess is, it's just because I'm used to FPS games, especially like Titanfall.
I have been wondering wether to get this or not , I've never played any armoured core game but played and loved all the souls games especially elden ring , fck it I am pre ordering it right now , 3 hours to go u till release in the uk . Pre down load it and get on this game

@@CageyMoose thanks , this game is going to get some getting used to , that first boss was just a taster of what's 2 come , the movement is crazy . It's definitely got a big learning curve . I like it
Honestly I don't think I'll have time - there are so many games launching and I'm still working through BG3. I did put some builds that I played here: armoredcore6.wiki.fextralife.com/Builds
No coop is the only thing I'm disappointed about this game. I really hope future armored core implement coop campaign and maybe a change in itemization for more in depth builds maybe a loot system or something or maybe monster hunter type system where u farm for parts of a monster. I believe armored core needs to risk a change in order to be more mainstream.
I keep reading that the balancing in this game is "catastrophic." That too many of the weapons are simply unusable against anything more than enemies you can one-shot, that hard-locked sniper rifles feel like no-scoping in old CoD games, and rifles need you to be in what would be considered shotgun range in any other game, and so much more. This kind of thing really discourages me, and it's why I haven't bought the game. I hope I'll start seeing posts talking about how FromSoft fixed the balancing issues. Then I'll start considering buying AC6.

Holy shit this and Baldurs Gate in one month. Two S tier games. So rare to see this as its been years of my PC collecting dust aside from Elden Ring
This is gonna be my first armored core game and I'm excited to play it
Definitely going to get this game.
I just changed my headphones and got confused by the change in Cas' voice. Went to previous videos to listen if it's my headphones are the reason. Whew.
No there's a difference probably losing his voice
great review. between this and baldur's gate content, fextralife is my go to channel lately
Love the narrators total disinterest in the narration lol
Just his style on all videos, expected
Gameplay > High Fi Graphics
Yes yes yes. I'll buy good games before I buy awesome visuals.
100% not for me. But I did play Armored Core as a kid, and I'm glad to see it's staying alive 😊
FromSoft has never been about cutting edge graphics, they are all about excellent art design and immersive worlds and they succeed on both consistently.
But like he said, why not push that a bit farther? It certainly won't make the game worse.
@@Nethezbetsomething something small indie studio
@@Nethezbetyou don’t know that for sure, they could push further in graphics when in development, but that could hinder gameplay due to time constraints having to focus on the other. I’d rather they focus on gameplay and the graphics be manageable then the latter
@@erroneouse1929 I mean, of course I don't know for sure. I am a random person making comments on the internet. I had forgotten I even made this one =P
No one knows anything, we just comment with opinions and move on.
They dont need to be pushed further because they all worked hard and it looks great. The game is insanely good so far.
Fextlife thought everyone got rtx 4090 with 500tb storage
Really enjoy your spoiler-free reviews, thank you so much :)
Haven’t played armored cored since. Back on ps2
I feel like a lot of us are in the same boat. PS2 was peak AC, let's hope it shines again
Thanks for that I woke up today wondering when random UA-cam commenter played an armored Core game
Same! I'll be dipping back in tonight.
it should be illegal to have a voice as smooth as yours
Already pre-ordered and pre-downloaded. When i get home work tomorrow im going to str8 to play the game and i cannot wait!!!
I seriously feel like the pvp for this game is where it's at
Excellent review as always. Thank you for the well detailed look. I never played Armored Core before, but am interested in this one. This video helped me get a handle on what to expect from the experience, Cheers!
Art direction>Graphics
Something dude forgot to mention… game runs like a dime. No stutters, hitches, dream frames. Perfect
If you're on the fence: buy. This. Game. Trust me
This is my very first Armored Core game. Within the first hour I've been hooked. The fast paced game play reminds me of Robotech Battlecry for the PS2. I don't know how long it'll take but I want to 100% on Xbox
I’ve never been so excited for a games pvp since the beta of R6. 3v3 full on mech combat is what I’m here for!
This is my first AC game and being a sci-fi lover and analytical mind, I can’t wait!
Whenever I read "AC" I immediately think of Assetto Corsa
@@CS-pl8fc 🏎️💨
I've been waiting years. I wish this and front mission would release all of their games not exclusively in Japan
That would be cool.
Top 3 favorite game of mine. After mastering it, my only wish is I could relive it all for the first time again.
yeah i'm at ng++ midway chapter 3, it would take a couple of hours to finish it completely, but i don't wanna.....
Great breakdown as always, Fextralife! The game looks amazing, can't wait to get my hands on it. Thanks again.
I was kinda hoping for a co-op mode, hopefully in the future
No.
@@grph1t3z yes
Hell yea... somebody can be a missile boat while another can be close quarters and so on.
@@ILoveCostcoPizza lots of cool ideas, even roaming around together seems fun already!
I wouldn’t hold my breath but it would be very cool
This is a great review, super thorough and well done. Props.
It's so hard to picture Fex tilted by...well, anything. He's so chill. That really says something about the difficulty of the bosses in this game
I think why the graphics can be done better is because they made it so older consoles like Xbox One (I have one and use it cuz I’m poor lol) and ps4 can play bad run it without many problems. It is probably good for sales too,
Just a few more hours I can't wait
I was waiting for this, nothing will make me not play this game but I wanted to hear it from you guys, your reviews are so good
Finished this game twice, I’m literally in love with it
Uh oh, that’s not good
This seems like a good game but by no means looks like a genre defining one, nor a Game of the Year competitor. I'm not sure I'm interested and I'll probably pass on this FromSoftware's game.
Since the genre have almost no competition this goes to the top 1 of the rare mech games release , glad from software did not abandon this franchise, definitely getting this!!
do you know what the last Mech game was? ( i mean shooter like this so not like BattleTech)
because the last game even somewhat similar to this i played was Heavy Gear 25 years ago and i know there have been games sinds but i dont even know there names.
@@Ramotttholl one i know is from PS2 it's called S.L.A.I.
Thank you for your very informative video. Does this have a quick play/skirmish mode as well? Thank you.
I can't wait for this weekend!! Haven't played a good mech game since AC3. Pumped!!
Video Describtion "Reviewed on: PC (Steam)"
YAY this is what i was looking for. (especially sinds some devs/publishers dont seem to care to PC version optimized.)
Kinda surprised it wasnt mentioned at the start and he went right into it. but describtion helped out well.
It's going to look amazing
fextralife chose a very weird hill to die on, the game looks awesome
Fr. I do think graphics are important to a degree, but the deciding factor for me is if the game is FUN. I'm not inspecting the environments to see how many pixels this random wall texture has.
@@Trindividual Next next gen?.. They haven't even begun to use the ps5 yet
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre came out last week, hopefully a review by Fextra Life
The machines look awesome. But the levels look meh…
Am I the only one who noticed some lack of energy in your usual voice? Is everything ok? Are you sick? If so take care, we can wait the videos!
Great review. Finally someone doesn't go the sOuLsLiKe comparison route.
I will spend many many hours playing this game! Great!
I really wish they had co-op
Excellent review as usual Fextra. I’ve played most FS games (a lot) but never AC. Can’t really feel this game is for me though… wish there was a demo to try out the mechanics.
Anyway just sharing some thoughts
If it doesn’t call to you there’s no need to force it. You can watch longform streams and see how you like the game
I wonder how pc performance on release is like.
First ac game players get to play on a proper gaming rig.
Update: Got everything maxed out(except dof and motion blur)
Holding @ 4k 55-60fps on a 3080.
One of the very best games I’ve ever played , it’s my first armored core.
Top 20-25 all time for me
How does the game control on Mouse and Keyboard versus controller? As a Mechwarrior Online veteran, I'm interested to see if there is any advantage to either input method
The thing is this game HAS to run absolutely buttery smooth from how fast paced action this game is. Its cross gen with fast movement across the map tons of effects. This is probably why the grfx arnt super amazing and that's fine. I don't get this criticism.
I am neck deep into Baldur's Gate 3 at the moment. But as soon as I'm done with that I'm definitely picking AC6 up next.
Too many good games! TOO MANY!
This game is extremely underrated. The mech combat is fantastic and very different than souls games, it’s way more fast paced.
Haven't beaten the first chapter yet I'm stuck at the very end (you know, THIS PART ON THE ROOF) but I'm absolutely loving the game, missions are fun and actually quite challenging if you're not paying attention you can go down pretty fast (relative to your build ofc), there is a plethora of viable builds to discover, secret encounters, ennemy variety is a-ok but the best part for me is the atmosphere : some may call it bland but I see this world as the embodiment of corporate greed left basically unchecked
10/10, will buy AC again
Just watched the accolades trailer, the game seemed to service everyone pretty good. Lotta compliments on the graphics seemed like they really broke that market norm again
Thanks for the great reviews. Love the wikis, reviews, and guides! One of the best review services on youtube from what I’ve experienced
Woooo! Fromsoft! Ty all involved, I purchased it.
This is one of those games im never excited about playing, but once I do i'm locked in for a couple hours.
Already bought it, love the series. Hopeing to see your coverage of the game. Builds?
The environments are plain otherwise they would end up being too distracting. They focused on the mechs and weapons because that’s the meat of the game
Only noobs care about graphics
Those boss fights fuuuuuu I didn’t think I was gonna bother with this but the combat does look good… my god
Am currently busy with Baldurs gate, curious with starfield and now this.
A beautiful review. I have known of your channel for a long time. Glad you enjoyed the game. I will be streaming it on twitch tonight
Might just buy this just to let FromSoft know they should look back at their old series they have!
my body is ready
Personally, I've never played this series before, but I'm quite interested in this game. I do think by what I've seen, it might look better in First Person. My guess is, it's just because I'm used to FPS games, especially like Titanfall.
I have been wondering wether to get this or not , I've never played any armoured core game but played and loved all the souls games especially elden ring , fck it I am pre ordering it right now , 3 hours to go u till release in the uk . Pre down load it and get on this game

Just a question:
Are you going to do build videos for armored core VI ?
Honestly I don't think I'll have time - there are so many games launching and I'm still working through BG3. I did put some builds that I played here: armoredcore6.wiki.fextralife.com/Builds
@@Fextralife thanks !
Dude really suggested that AC needs a loot system 😂 hell no
Can't wait!
