80s were magical, heck even rolling into the early 90s. Remember the huge ruckus they made over Honey I Shrunk The Kids? Even opening a giant cookie and playground at MGM? It was all over the Disney Channel. I still remember Roger Rabbit being the huge news back in the late 80s. I still remember when Toon Town was revealed at Disneyland in the 90s. Who remember's the ice cream treats Mickey's Parade? (go see the commercial). Wish those days would return.
I went there in '88. I'm from New Zealand. Never been overseas since. I remember a band came out of the ground on a stage. Think the lady singer had blonde hair. What an amazing time. I should write all my memories down. I was 8.
I remember Disneyland from '76 to the present. It has lost so much, how sad kids from today say "What?" when you mention the in Adventures thru Inner-space. Or point at the People-mover track and ask "What the hell is that?" The Battle grey submarine ride that kept the cold war buzzing in the back of our heads. Man, those were the Days!
Thank you so much for posting this! My sis and I used to rent this from the video store over and over and over and over... I'm sure she'll love it too!
@@danielcope7323 back then park admission and attractions were separate costs. Akin to what you'd find at a county fair. Inflation, supply and demand, and corporate greed are all factors into why Disney is so expensive these days.

Big Thunder Mountain opened in September of 1979. Probably filmed in 1981-82. I see some Members Only jackets & tight designer jeans. No sideburns, not many Bell-bottoms. Pre neon Miami Vice clothes (1984).
I was born 84 and I did not become a major DL fan until early 200s I only been when I was 12yrs. but from early 20s until my age now 33 I am a big DL fan.
You need to take out bank loans and triple mortgage your home just for 1 person let alone 4.......you definately will have to donate plazma to afford their overpriced souvenirs. I went in as a kid in 1985 and guess what the price of admission for 4 people was only 40 bucks, with soviniers not to expensive. I got a decent haul of goods mouse ears, a haunted mansion book and record set and other goodies. Try buying 1 item less than 25 bucks.
Philip Defibaugh same at Disneyland Paris!! The prices raised x4!! since 8 years. Unfortunately the rides, and the park evolves poorly, 0 new attractions since 1997!!! They spent all the money to Disney studios! Many rides can’t work all the day : Big Thunder Mountain or Finding Nemo or constantly out of order all days.... For us, we prefer going to another european parks cheaper and with high quality compare to Disney Resort in France : it’s pity!! All the magical is disappeared now it’s only money money money with no quality 😡
yeah, it's right at that 70's-80's point,.. one fun fact about the timing is that fantasyland is curiously' absent! (new fantasyland? maybe),.. and about the tile, I grew up watching this over & over in the 80's,.. my grandma would make me mickey shaped pancakes just like in the video, ..
Just how I remember it as a child. I even got to pull the sword from the stone in Fantasyland in '83 or '84. I lived in San Jose and this was always or favorite vacation spot. Somehow seems way more innocent, if that is even possible for Disneyland.
Well said. I have been to Disneyland so many times. And living two hours away from Disneyland myself, everyone I know that goes to Disneyland say they are driving to LA. It's a general answer. It must be a local thing. ;)
I hate to admit this, but the bear at the 9:12 mark is Ernest (aka The Dude), not Zeb; Zeb is a fiddle player, yes, but he's one of the Five Bear Rugs (the quintet of bears shown in the center stage).
Great video. Brings back heaps of memories of me going there as a kid in the 80s. After 30+ years I now remember those elephants!!! I think this must be really early 80s though, as it doesnt have Tomorrowland (I think it was called?)
@@marialemos1495 I learned my lesson 3 years ago kids don't even know the shows that most the rides are based on now adays they know star wars land and maybe the toy story area but thats about it and the rides, while they are great, are no longer state of the art i really wish we had gone to universal cheaper too
FACT: Anaheim to Los Angeles is only 26 miles. Being from California, I would definitely say that most people will say that Disneyland is in LA. Or at least can say it is in the LA area. Done. Thank you for the video. ;)
80s were the best. People didn't have giant racial chips on their shoulders. We all had fun and didn't take ourselves seriously. It will be up to your generation to save the country from millennials, who are dead set on ruining it. Stay strong.
I agree 100% I'm 30 and I visited recently and I thought maybe because I wasntva child anymore but looking back at old pics and videos I realized that magic wasn't there how it used to be. So much has changed. I pics as a kid with the 7 dwarfs. U couldn't pay to get that nowadays. Characters used to walk around all day now you wait in line. Sad but at least we have the memories
I have gone to Disneyland since the early 80s and I understand your nostalgia but disagree with you. I love the memories of the last 30+ years but it is better for me now than it has ever been! I love to look back and catch a glimpse of the memories and moments that are no longer there which is sad but as a whole I am glad I can tap into the magic that has apparently dissolved for some. Disneyland has changed here and there but I suspect most of the lost "something" is personal expectation. Roll with it, buy into the new experiences and have fun along with the vast majority of the attractions that are classic and still there to this day!
Let's hope Disney starts going back to some of its old ways with a new management and starts undoing a lot of the changes in recent times i.e., restoring pirates (no more jack) and, selling off lucasfilm and marvel and removing them from the parks, and kicking Frozen out.
Little Girl: Oh! Look at the old fashioned dolls! Wouldn't you love one?" Man: Not especially. Lol! Nowadays at Disneyland you see dudes wearing Mini Mouse ears. The decline.
I know but to me there is no Van Nuys Airport in LA only LA international Airport and to me Disneyland is in the San Fernando Valley at 16461 Sherman Way, Los Angeles, CA 91406.
I would like to say something that goes along with the ongoing argument about the location of the park. I lived in California for most of my life. Disneyland is located in ANAHEIM, CA. ORANGE FUCKING COUNTY. Can we please knock it off and let it WTF!
Man, that funky intro!

well its 12 year later but did she love it
Back when you could take the whole family to Disneyland without taking out a second mortgage on the house
How much did it cost then?
I know right?

Disneyland admission prices have not exceeded CPI by much over the years. This isn’t a Disney problem - it’s a Federal Reserve problem.
Big Thunder Mountain opened in September of 1979.
Probably filmed in 1981-82. I see some Members Only jackets & tight designer jeans.

Copyright 1982...interesting. That would be right before Fantasyland's reconstruction. By the time this thing aired, it was probably closed already.
Look more closely. It’s copyright 1932. There’s no L in the roman numeral.
That saxaphone, just so 80's. Remember it well!
Brings back good memories ty
The haunted mansion filmed footage was later recycled into the Haunted Mansion segment of the NBC 1985 Disneyland 30th anniversary special.
Man, Disneyland was so ahead of its game in the 80s. :)

oh snap! I remember seeing this on the disney channel!
That balloon following the kid at the Haunted Mansion effect was pretty impressive for the 80s!
They obviously just tied the balloon to the kids waist and had a 2nd fake string dangling down from the balloon. Could've done that in 1900 honestly
This was when Disneyland didn't try to socially engineer us. I am never going back to Disneyland ever again! Disney could kiss my arse!
ooo bring those cheeks here big boy i will kiss em
In Orange County Florida too I might add. Funny how that worked out!
Just how I remember it as a child. I even got to pull the sword from the stone in Fantasyland in '83 or '84. I lived in San Jose and this was always or favorite vacation spot. Somehow seems way more innocent, if that is even possible for Disneyland.

@fatboytjc There were actually 3 Mad Hatter shops; one in Fantasyland, one on Main Street, and then the "Mod" Hatter in Tomorrowland.
its so funny now bc all the stuff inside the stores are Disney related stuff now
I hate to admit this, but the bear at the 9:12 mark is Ernest (aka The Dude), not Zeb; Zeb is a fiddle player, yes, but he's one of the Five Bear Rugs (the quintet of bears shown in the center stage).
I first went to Disneyland in Jun 1982. This video is great
they shoulf do an up to day dvd now for this time period
The Disneyland experience was more meaningful in the 80s when we didn't have our cell phones to distract us
Yeah but those cell phones would help time go faster in those long lines tho I didn't mind playing games with my friends in line but..
This video is cool and old school!
Great video. Brings back heaps of memories of me going there as a kid in the 80s. After 30+ years I now remember those elephants!!! I think this must be really early 80s though, as it doesnt have Tomorrowland (I think it was called?)
Tomorrowland is still there and so is the boat ride with those elephants. I was there two days ago
I miss old Main Street. :(
I think this was from 1982 but they got the roman numeral wrong. At 00:25 It says MCMXXXII which is 1932.
Great memories... Its a shame what an overcrowded overpriced mess Disneyland has become over the past 20 years.
No matter how expensive it is, people will continue to go

It's in Orange County... I should know because I've lived in Orange County all my life.
@mycoolhomevideos I have this copied on Betamax, and copied it to DVD a few years ago. In fact, I was just watching this last night :)
I wish I was around in the 80s. But I was born in the early 2000s
i was born in 2000

same
best music and movies as well.
I grew up in the eighties. It was better simpler times
Amazing! No more one-of-a-kind shop :(
This was 1982, I just posted this full clip uncut
man I wish they brought back bear county and this lil kid voice is so cute
999 ghost but it is always room for thousands lol
@Timsierramist Yes, I do but I like to say it's in Los Angeles because I've been to the San Diego Zoo which is in San Diego.
They forgot the L in the copyright date at the beginning. I really doubt this special was made in 1932.
Right??? I thought my roman numeral comprehension had desolved.
Haha, nice catch.
Came here to say the same! MCMLXXXII
People, Disneyland is located in Anaheim outside of LA. But you can still call it in LA because Anaheim was part of Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.
So Cool. Thanks dan4682!!!
back in the day there used to be corset shop
Um this couldn't have been filmed any later than 1980 because everything just screams 1970s lol.
1980s were just as corny if not cornier than the 70s
n64wilbert Haha I know but this has a very 70s feel to it.
Exactly what I was thinking. This is the end of 70's, beginning of 80's. Not beyond 1982 maybe.
Spoken like someone who wasn't there.
Believe me, It was miles better than the 1990s.
This was VHS due to all the audio/visual merch being all on 8mm film. I say this was most likely done in 84-85.
I still love Disneyland, but after the mid 1990's it just seemed to lose that "something", you know? Signed, a 43 year old Disneyland fan.

Michael Cook Yeah. It rocked in the 80s
today if you let a balloon go let it will cost money bc I know now they are not plain and they are high they even got some with lights in them
Forgot where I first saw this.
the 80s babies love this
I am being tightrope walker for mickey Halloween party it will be my 1st yr going to the party.
With the shirt styles, I'm thinking '81 or '82
Haha! I feel the same way.
this is what i mean when I say I want to live in the 80's
yeah aids and the cold war such fun entertainment was better and housing was affordable i will give ya that
How about taking a trip through disneyland?
you mean it?
(long pause) no
Hahahah
yah mr.corona virus is not done with the messing up Disney land yet

Not just L.A. county. That and Orange County are in the Los Angeles Basin. Go to wikipedia and type in Los Angeles Basin and it will show you.

Hard to believe this was actually filmed on professional equipment.
So we’re not going to discuss why this was copyright in 1932?
was the little mermaid as big as frozen when it came out?
I think so. I mean, I wasn't born in the 70s or 80s, but I think it was
Roger Rabbit was as big as frozen when it came out, too!
so sick of frozen they need to let it go lol
Yes it was. I remember when it came out
Where is tomorrow land?
This looks like the 70s, it must be the early 80s
Why are the numerals for 1932
the company
@fatboytjc It still is...
Why do the 80's production values now seem like the 60's?!?!
Wow a tobacco shop...you'll never see that today.... Smoking is a crime (not literally) today.. I wonder what that is now?
But that's Van Nuys Airport?
the copyright on this is 1932??
1982, you missed a letter.
Whoops, wait. They did mess it up.
