This video is so cool!My dad played in the disneyland band in 77. He passed away 3 years ago from cancer.I believe I see him in your footage at 24-41 seconds!! He's the tall trumpet player that leans back slightly when he plays.Do you have any more footage of the band playing? I would gladly pay for a copy or shipping or even your time.I can't tell you how awesome it was to see what I think may have been my dad. I thought I'd never see anything of his again that I didn't already know about. :)
there's a certain charm in seeing old 8mm film of disneyland . these days people record disneyland in HD and it's crystal clear with stereo sound. to see a gem of a time capsule like this is a real treat. you covered a great deal of the park in 18 minutes. the shots of old fantasyland are classic. thanks for sharing.
Exactly... back in the day, people were chill about being filmed... I want to make a random vlog like this so people in 2080 can watch, but people can be so uptight.
Great video I knew the tea cups went faster back then. So much has changed. When I was a kid in 77 we could spend the whole day on Tom Sawer’s Island. I miss how D land used to be so much has changed over the years but it’s still the happiest place on earth!!🌎
What most British people watched on "Disney Time" in the 70s/80s on a chilly Boxing Day evening wishing how much they could go, and then Euro Disney opened across the channel, along with cheap flights to WDW in Florida. Great film and quality! PS: My parents and grandparents went to Disneyland Resort in 1989 (a year before I was born).
Thanks for posting this. I still live 12 miles from Disneyland as i had in 1977, me 16 at that time. Funny, I’m desperately, knowing it nearly impossible to see my dad, mom, my sisters and myself in this film. Growing up my dad took us to Disneyland every couple months. We lived, breathed Disneyland up until around this year. I became to “cool” to go to Disneyland after 1977 haha. But, my current girlfriend works there haha. We are going April 29, a day before it opens to the general public. We are going for a Cast Member’s “soft opening” preview. Her and I been to Disneyland exactly 100 times in two years before a year ago and COVID. Tonight she showed me the special Cast Members’ tickets. I’m loving this video(with sound!). Seems most vintage Disneyland home movies I’ve seen on UA-cam are silent. This is pure gold. My girlfriend and I prefer this era over an overly commercialized Disney (Interesting in this film how thin most people -are as opposed to....?) I can’t wait to show my girlfriend Siobain this tomorrow before she goes to work at Disneyland, Thanks Again.
OMG!! I feel like I'm a 4 yr old kid again. My first time at Disneyland was in March of 1977 I was 4 yrs old. It was the year Winnie the Pooh movie came out. I remember it rained the whole day. I had to wear a horrible heavy coat and rain hat. Monstro the whale in storybook land scared the crap out of me. It seemed to look more fierce back then. I looked at pictures then and now and sure enough they changed the teeth and eyes. Great memories though.
This was brilliant! I need to remind myself the next time I am having a stressful day at work to take a break and watch this video. Its reminds me of my childhood trips to Disneyland and the relaxed feel it use to have. These days when I visit the park its always so busy and feels rushed.
Fantastic home movie! Just wanted to say you did a great job back then, holding the camera steady and all the candid people shots just like a professional would. Also brought back a lot of memories of the past....it's funny how an old video of Disneyland can do that :)
9:45 rising stage. So unique. Our Iowa Adventureland has one as well, which I assume was inspired by Disneyland since it’s Main Street area with a train station also seems quite inspired.
Oh my goodness Mackenzie- I have seen a lot of Disneyland vids, but yours in the best one ever. I can't stop watching it- makes me wish I would have been there too:) I especially love the quick shots of the music group- that was so totally cool- a little Boz Scaggs and Lou Rawls- your own little version of Soul Train! lol Brings back wonderful & special memories:) thank you for that!! Have a fabulous day.
You and your fam just look so totally cool & fun- wish we knew each other back then- we would've had a total blast hangin' out together for sure- especially @ Disneyland:) '77 was a great year for me- hope it was for you. All my best to you:)
Thanks a lot Mackenzie! LOL 😊 Now every time I hear the song Lowdown- I'm going to think of you, your fam and this incredibly cool vid! lol but hey- that's ok- cause I always smile when I think of you and this vid. 😊 It sounds like you have an accent my friend- where were you living at this time?
This is great! I took a trip to Disneyland in 1977. I was 5 years old. I can use this movie and contrast it with some of my earliest memories. Who was the woman in the video?
Hi, I think that it may have been 30 Dollars for the two of us, you can also find footage of Disneyland in the 50's on my channel and Blackpool pleasure beech amusement park from the 70's
Fang, his wife Tina, and his two sisters Marry & Jeannie formed a band at Disneyland called The Friendship Train. Link below:- www.philfangvolk.com/friendshiptrain.html
There was the Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland, which was a slow train ride through different environments such as living desert, bear country, and more, however it had already closed by this point as it closed January 2, 1977 to start building Big Thunder.
Home video cameras were not really available in 1978 and the ones that were the quality was poor and the cameras were very expensive, 16m/m and 35m/m film was very expensive, what would you have used then?
Thank you so much for not putting an obnoxious soundtrack over the raw audio. It's like time traveling. Beautiful.
Thanks for posting this. I was there one day that year. I remember the music.
Watching these old home movies makes me happy, so much has changed at Disneyland 😊
I'm so glad that you are enjoying my home movies.

We lived in Anaheim from 1976-1992... I was 7 in 1976. My first time of 150 times at Disneyland up to 2015.
Wow, that's a lot of visits!
@@mackenzierough Indeed, I'm 54 yrs old today... haven't been back since 2015. Too crowded comparatively

The sound and quality of the film is amazing! Capture the whole feel of the park very well.
Thank you very much.
This is one of the best videos of Disneyland I've ever seen. So incredible to see and hear real sound video of Disneyland in the 70's.
Wow, thank you, I'm glad that you enjoyed my home movie.
I really enjoyed this...nothing beats the original vintage disneyland.
I'm glad that you enjoyed this film.
Loved this! I was 13 then, used to go to the park a few times a year, brought back great memories.
Glad you enjoyed my home movie.
The best of times. It's so interesting how the narration tones were so much more formal, and "educational".
This is great. I love the random shots of park guests just enjoying the day!

This is majestic, like Jamie Marchi’s writing.

So Rare to Hear the Carrousel Background Music that You Can Still Hear at Tokyo Disneyland.

How utterly fabulous this was!! I feel like I've had a trip there, back to when things weren't so chaotic. Thank you!!

Wow, this footage great!
Thank you, glad that you enjoyed my home movie
This is awesome!!!!!
This is great. No obese people, no one walking around in their underwear like today. No cellphones. Our world has gone downhill culturally.

I think miss bianca thinks the baby is adorable from his face
and for gods sakes...No Smoking!
It was accepted in those days!
The monorail narration sounded so robotic.
Wow, i've never seen an 8mm movie with sound. Must have been an expensive camera. Interesting to see and hear Disneyland from back in the '70s.
Hi, I'm glad that you enjoyed my home movie, I can't remember how much I paid for my super 8m/m sound camera, maybe around £350?
This a child hood classic. I remember all that when i was little. How did you find this?
I got lost following Tiger, I s tu I'll remember like if it was yesterday
What are they playing? Who are those people? 9:58
