The Dora Milaje scene makes me so mad. A lot of people aren’t going to like what I have to say, but the Wakandans have been written as some of the most self-centered people in the whole universe. In this scene the Dora Milaje are some of the most tone deaf group of warriors despite being portrayed as incredibly intelligent. Walker was doing nothing except for trying to de-escalate the situation and here come the Wakandans thinking they own the frikkin world and do whatever they want, even if it means assaulting representatives of other countries. It’s even more hilarious, because they’re a country that likes to keep to themselves hidden from the world, and keep their natural resources to themselves, and here we see them going around, assaulting an American Icon, much less a frikkin US Soldier, during a de-escalating situation. In most situations, that’s an act of war. Everyone overlooks their behavior because when they’re in the story, it’s usually a race virtue signaling moment, except for the fact the Wakandans didn’t help stop any of the Slave Trade or advocate for Civil Rights over the course of history, despite the fact they’ve been hyper-advanced for an incredibly long time. I’m not even going to get into the reverse racism they jokingly engage in, in their own movies, because this is about FATWS, but I can’t feel any support for them because of this scene and others like it. The only time I actually felt bad for them, was in Civil War, when their King was killed, but after learning about more of their story, I’ve just been disappointed with the writing they’ve been given, because they could actually be an incredibly good force for the world, especially post Blip.

Imagine Sam is put into one of those moments where the villain wants him to choose who to save, except it’s just the shield vs John. Same doesn’t even hesitate, he takes the shield, leaves John to die, and lets the villain escape. That’s how Sam feels in this show.

I remember something like that in an aquaman episode of justice league.
The difference was that aqua man was justified in leaving his brother for dead since the trident was built by posiden to hold off elder gods, while his brother tried killing his baby son in a plan for bloody coup.
And yet it wouldn’t surprise me that if they made Sam do the choice in show. every action and choice being the same up to that point, they’d have Sam pick the shield and think it’s the moral choice.

Until steve proved he was a good man ; soldier . Walker is mediocre as captian america he is brash and arrogant , slightly egotistical once given the sheild .

I think that Wakanda and Wakanda Forever showed us all that, by and large, the government of Wakanda don't care in the slightest what the rest of the world think about them.
I think that this series , similarly, shows us that the writers of this series have only a loose association with logic .

bro, i so want to hug Walker, he and Lamar (but specially Battlestar) are treated as punching bags. Seriously, Bucky and Sam just come across as the most judgmental bitches ever. Meanwhile John here tries every time to be patient, only to be beat up or talked down like he was a misbehaving child. Justice for John Walker, he is the hero we all want to be: Patient, reasonable, loyal, will put down a threat when there is no other choice, but will save civilians if he can. God, i'd kill to have bros like Lamar and Walker on my life. Thanks for these vids.

I hate this lazy writing where they make the protaganists annoying, petty, bitch and ooc just to manufacture forced "conflict" and "tension" between the main characters. I know I said it before, but this kind of writing seems to be getting way too common in long form TV series now.
Sometimes I think the writers are good for nothing except writing cheap soap operaas and sitcoms because that seems to be all their skills are suited it. They cannot handle and kind of political content, fantasy, or complex characters.
The thing is you can tell they were running out of ideas because of the number of scenes where characters are literally just sitting around talking and saying things which make no sense or bickering like teenagers.

Okay but imagine a fanfiction/AU where Lemar isn't acutally actually killed. Like he is knocked unconcious, or maybe is revived by medics shortly after Walker kills that Flag Smasher Twit, but is overall okay. I can't really imagine if it would have been better or worse but I would have loved to see competent writers play with the guilt Walker could have maybe felt (thinking he killed someone 'for no reason') but Lemar inevitably reminding him that the guy was a terrorist and literally tried to kill him, even without Lemar's fakeout death. Food for thought. What would have been better is them general writing a decent show where I did hate Sam and Bucky (used to be my absolute fav male character) for the sake of some weird race-baity, backwards ass, terrorist-apologist trite.

I thought I was done with the MCU. I still am, but at least I want to thank Mr Russell for putting heart into a character the creators obviously didn't care for.
Regarding Sam's future video, I realized FatWS makes a great deal more sense if you assume that Sam knows he's the main character of a show. John behaves like a man who thinks he's dealing with real life, except when the creators hijack him.
A few thoughts that come to mind.
23:40 This scene with its shifting room and teleporting bad guy comes across like it was originally intended to be a hallucination of John's, a spiritual ordeal he's facing, only for this to be abandoned at the editing stage. Like he's in Silent Hill 2 or Yoda's Dark Side cave. Am I giving this show too much credit?
59:00 Normally, when a story wants to examine "just following orders" they have the order-follower trying to justify themselves to a third party. In this scene, unusually, the order follower is justifying himself to the ones who gave him the orders, saying "why did you tell me to do it, then?" The answer, frustratingly, is that no one warns John he was set up to fail. No one sat him down and said, "Captain, from now on your job is to help manage the US's (is there a US at this point? See below) optics. You know how you're decisive man of action? Well, now you're like the White House Press Secretary, except you punch people. Make sure you rewire your brain to think like a marketing consultant, not a special forces soldier."
(Who are these Senators? Senators of what? The USA? GRC? Is there a distinction between the two? If there isn't, I suspect lots of people would reject the GRC's presence in their territory. But then, the borders between countries (possibly also states) apparently haven't been reinstated. How does that work? 'The floor recognizes Senator John Doe of what-would-have-been Colorado?' 'The Representative of Maine-That-Was, former Nova Scotia and Neo-Quebec has twenty minutes for remarks?')
1:03:15 I wish they gave John a humanizing moment and Lamar's family some closure, maybe sharing an anecdote with them about how Lamar always talked about them during down time, carrying his thoughts of them wherever he went in the world.
I love watching people tear this show down because of the karma. Walker, Barnes, Carter and a posthumous Rogers are set up by the show to be punching bags while Sam, Karli and the literal spear-carriers get handed wins and sympathy at discount prices. It's only fair the show take its licks in turn.

I'm glad someone pointed out the idea that the disappearing/reappearing Flag Smasher was supposed to be, maybe, all in John's head. That's how I interpreted bc I tried to rewatch the scene multiple times at multiple speeds and couldn't make sense of it. It only made sense in the conext of it being in his head, related to his war trauma, etc. It still felt like a very last minute addition (as well as being poorly cobbled together) in order to lazily set up that Walker was kookoo (he's really not, he's just been through it) but...here we are.

I am so appalled at how the writers have ruined these characters and created such a mind-boggling plot that is causing such brain-rot in all characters involved. And above it all, they set out to portray Walker as "the bad guy" when everyone else has just been making the worst decisions imaginable that even Walker's murder of Jake feels completely justifiable (BECAUSE IT IS, THE MAN IS A FUCKING TERRORIST FFS, WHY ARE THEY MAKING A GUY WHO FIGHTS TERRORISTS "THE BAD GUY"???)

It happens often in movies and shows; One instance I can recall is Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. When Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are tracking Merry and Pippin into Fangorn Forest.

Which it would make sense for him to be in. The film-makers don't want him in that despite the fact he was in all the other 3 presumably because they don't want to risk "the first black Captain America" (which lets be honest was the thing the series could not stop crowing about...) being overshadowed by a white dude.

What Bucky said from 47:50 wasn't logical - but IMHO it doesn't make him a jerk. It just goes to show the writers haven't paid attention to the continuity or background of these characters. Or just chose to ignore it.
The stupid narratove wants us to think John killed that Jake in revenge because he couldn't get the person who was actually responsible for the death of Lamar, so what Bucky said about "going down that path" is presumably intended as an admonition against taking vengeance.( I say "presumably" because I am just trying to make some sense out of the nonsensical)
It makes no sense, because Bucky never *actually* killed anyone in revenge, so he's never been "down that path" at all. He killed enemy combatants in war, people who his handlers told him to as an assassin and people who were trying to kill him. It seems to me then that his line is just one of those silly ones that's meant to sound profound, but ends up sounding empty and silly. I just see him as a victim of bad writing by this point, and that applies to Sam and John as well...

The Sam breakdown will also be my last chance to cover anything else I missed from the previous parts of the series

You say John should have arrested jake from state farm, but how exactly is he meant to do that?
First of all, that implies he will not immediately return to being a threat in the second it would probably take for him to push walker back and get back to his feet. Misconception here is that jake wanted to stop fighting at all, when really he more than likely would have, or at least would have tried to escape again. He is not surrendering, he is putting his hands forward in a defensive posture while saying something he believes will make walker hesitate. His intention is buying time to recover, not ending the conflict.
Even were it the case that John simply arrests him, how exactly can he do that? He doesnt have cuffs or any other restraint tool that statefarm couldnt break out of easily.
Im sorry man, you're just wrong, Walker is absolutely in the right to kill jake here, it is flat out the best choice in the situation. This guy is a danger to everyone there and John is not only right to, he has an *obligation* to end that threat.

Hi. I appreciate the comment, but that is what I was saying with how while it might look better in front of the public plaza to arrest him, it's impractical because of the factors you also correctly mentioned that he's a super soldier and the Flag Smashers are scattered, and they could attack him at any moment. 33:46 is also where I was mentioning how Jake doesn't deserve the sympathy he's giving in that moment as well and also the point that just cuz Jake was lifting his hands like a surrender, that means nothing when he's a super soldier where we've seen other super soldier fights can get out of the same scenario with no issue. Basically, I agree with everything you said. Maybe my editing was a bit out of order, which is my bad. But thanks again!
Edit: i do say "the best option would have been to arrest Jake" so I understand the confusion. It may be "best" in terms of a good action that also looks good to the public plaza people. But not the "best" in terms of practicality reasons, which i do explain why that was not an ideal idea, but yeah I should've conveyed this better

@reddevilosareviews yea I understand. Thanks for considering my comment. Thanks for the clarification, I had a feeling we didn't totally disagree, just felt maybe you valued the arrest choice a little to highly.
I do have a thought that maybe you could point out in a later video. While I think the actor overall did a great job, and it probably wasn't his choice. I hate the way he emotes facially in these scenes. If you look at his expressions there's a clear attempt to make him seem utterly unhinged. Again I want to give benefit to the actor and assume he wasn't choosing to express that way, but I think whoever made those decisions is just another level of manipulation of the audience.
Think about all the mcu media you've seen and who makes a face like that while fighting, I think it's only really Walker.

Dude your explanation and deep dive on this show was amazing, it made me hate the show EVEN MORE. And I also understand where John Walker is coming from. He’s no Steve Rodger’s and shouldn’t be leader of the Avengers but he definitely deserves it over racist Sam and baby Bucky. They really did him wrong in this show for no reason. Personally I didn’t even like the idea of anyone holding the shield because Steve Rodger’s is Captain America but out of the options given I’d give it to Walker

For me Walker was the best character and Sam and Bucky were made to look like real tools in this series. As for is Walker stronger then Steve, well in the comics he is and the serum makes you stronger. So were Steve was weak and become strong, Walker was already strong and made stronger. I think they did show a good amount of Lemar and his friendship with Walker, though they could have gone deeper and actually made Lemar a hero like in the comics. I wish they showed more or really anything about Walker's girlfriend. I really do like Red Devilosa' comment/breakdown about the serum and the Walker and Lemar scene. Though I don't agree with ever cretic of each scene and what is wrong with them. Like the "mirror" scene, that was actually one of those plastic windows for a door to see through. Cap does kill, but its always in the heat of battle. So was Walker, but to the people just standing by and have no clue to what is happening and filming it its a different story. But the truth is, and I agree, that Walker killed a super-soldier terrorist who took part in the killing of a bunch of innocent people in that building. And also just tried to kill Walker. So yes it was in the middle of combat, and Walker just witnessed his best friend die, but I get from the people filming don't know this. That's why the government fired him, I mean if it wasn't filmed and shared I don't think they would have fired him. But I get way Walker and Lemar went in there alone, Walker repeatedly through out the show tried to get Sam and Bucky to work with them. But they not only refused, they talked crap to him (mainly Bucky) and even got in his way of arresting the Flagsmasher and even Zemo. He showed them a lot of leeway cause they were heroes, not just cause they worded with Steve. I mean he could have instead arrested them for interfering, and breaking a criminal out of prison. Like they wanted to talk to the Flagsmasher and got in Walkers way to do it. Even after they started murdering innocent people they still tried to talk to them instead of helping Walker arrest them. Despite all this and how they treated him, Walker still showed them leeway. The scene were they try to take the shield even further made them look like the worst characters on the show. Walker just lost Lemar, and was losing it and ran off to that building to cool down. He needed help, and when they showed up he thought they cared and were there for him and lemar. He was erratic, but not on the level they were treating him. But still, they just wanted the shield, and the look on his face when he realized that they didn't care and just wanted the shield was heartbreaking to me. The manipulation from Sam and Bucky was next level of douche. And I think if Bucky had gotten his hands on Walker's gun, he wouldn't of killed him, but would have for sure shot Walker. And the fact there was no follow up or repercussions for what they did and what they did to Walker, yet he was punished 🤦‍♂ I was hoping Sam would have smartened up about the Flagsmasher's, I mean yes talk about the bull that pushed them, but don't glaze over what they did. I was also hoping after everything, Walker would have told Sam and Bucky to go to hell and walked off. But I do like Walker's journey to become the USAgent. He was an ok Cap and did his best, but like the comics he was meant to be his own man/hero. I agree the Thunderbolts line up is odd, though I love Red Guardian, and think Walker could possibly buttheads with Bucky. But still, I for one am excited to see him continue as the USAgent.
