Wait how is Steve more human than John? Humans are inherently flawed. Steve was too pure, no one could relate to him. Unless you are an egotist and you think you can do no wrong.
Yeah, me either. I wasn't a fucking Man baby like everyone else. and cried because it wasn't steve since he was only trying to do the right thing and i knew he wasn't going to be Cap by the end of it.
Same here, Walker has always been my favorite Marvel Character (besides Spider-Man of course), he has a badass Black, Red and White suit that I've always adored. Seeing him being adapted perfectly puts a smiles on my face. He was one of the best MCU Character.
Unpopular opinion: John Walker is far less villainous than Wanda Maximoff but people just can’t see it because she’s fan favorite. I don’t think anyone is ready for this conversation.
John killed a terrorist (although it was mostly out of spite and anger) was more or less justifiable, whereas Wanda held an entire town hostage (and somehow she's still considered a hero?)
The greatest irony of this show is summarized by a Steve Rogers quote. We’ve heard Steve say, “I don’t like bullies”, because so many people did mistreat him before becoming Captain America and even right at the beginning of his Captain America career. In this show we see Sam, Bucky, the Dora Milaje, and eventually the literal government bully and screw Walker over time and time again, right up until the end, when they need his help in the last fight, during which, he manages to actually help save innocent people, showing us that he is a good man, and is still capable of doing heroic things, meanwhile, I have to sit here and root for the literal bullies of the show and feel bad for literal terrorists. The writing and priorities of the writers was absolutely garbage, when I can feel more sympathy for a man descending into anger and brutality, instead of the so-called heroes of the actual show. The only plus side I can see to this, is Bucky and Sam realizing what it actually means to be Captain America, and more importantly, like Steve Rogers, and that if there’s a future fight scene with them and Walker, they realize that it was their own self-centered actions and unwarranted anger at John that helped turn him into the US Agent, and they actually apologize, but knowing Disney, and current Marvel writers, that will likely not happen, because they’re about as dense as a Lead Bucket filled with Mercury. As a big Captain America fan, on my second watch through of this show, I really saw how much they’re willing to tear down the legacy of one of the literal heroes of the entire property.
Wanda does evil things for selfish but relatable reasons - “YAS QUEEN!” John does objectively justified things but is angry and hard to relate to - “Trash.
The thing I hate about John's story is that he's essentially dragged through the mud because he killed a Flag Smasher. Something he was 100% justified in doing. It would've been different had the Flag Smasher actually surrendered before John killed him, but the reality is that he didn't and yet the series treats John as some sort of murderer, when in reality, he just killed a murderer who tried to murder him moments before killing him and likely prevented the deaths of innocent bystanders in the process. It's also why I, in the process, despise Sam and Bucky, because THEY caused this shit by being petty and not willing to work with John, or even give him baseline respect and then they have the gaul to gang up on him when they are the ones who are in the wrong. This really ruins the series for me. John could've been this tragic anti-hero that he does end up becoming, but we see him acting justifiably so it ruins that transition. And then we are supposed to act like Sam is this pure good man, when in reality he acted extremely petulant and petty, which runs contrary to the whole "good man" angle.
Yeah, John did what a soldier would. Should we also be mad at our own soldiers for killing other men who want to tear our country apart? No. John is a soldier he was defending himself and his country. He wasn't perfect like Steve, but he was still a good man despite what people thought about him. His story is very tragic because he is expected to be Steve because he is Capitan America. He isn't him he tried to be the best he could be. In truth, no one, not even Bucky or Sam, could be Steve. I don't think he was the right choice for Capitan America. The mantle was just dropped in his lap. He didn't have a chance at being Capitan America because of how he was raised, trained, and conditioned, but he is still a good man.
@Tobs Onasanya he could've. But let me ask you this, if you were serving in the U.S. military in Iraq, would you be trying to save the enemy. Would you "knock them out" even though these men want to kill you and your friends and destroy your country. Or would you kill them to protect yourself and everything you care about. It would be a different conversation if John was given a choice. If the man was surrendering and he killed him, that would make it murder. But the fact that man didn't surrender means John was totally justified in doing what he did. John is a soldier, soldiers kill to protect themselves and their country. It doesn't matter if he is dressed like the flag or not. He was threatened, and his country was threatened, so he handled it like a soldier.
@@Zman.gamer.6989 you do realise it was one person he was after. If this was war then it would be more understandable. Also he did it out of vengeance lol
Lemar was the angel on John's shoulder, without him he's lost. Contessa is the devil on John's shoulder and under her influence, he'll be forced to make bad decisions. I think in the inevitable Dark Avengers movie, Val will try to make him do something horrible, but he'll stare her down and let her know that "Mercy bears richer fruit than strict justice." and leave the team. He seems like he could be a great hero if he makes the right choices.
I fully agree with you about John Walker. At the end of the first episode, I too immediately started to hate him because he was given the shield behind Sam's back. However, at the start of episode 2, I slowly started to understand and even like him. This is due to the way he feels about taking the mantle given to him by the government. He's honored but remains humbled about it. Sam and Bucky simply don't treat him with any respect in return. That slowly started his fall from grace. Wyatt Russell was awesome in this show. The people who sent the actor death threats because of his character are not only assholes, but idiots too.
In defense of John Walker, many people compared him to Steve in every aspect. They said that Steve faces insults all the time when he started becoming Cap yet he didn’t go rogue like Walker...except that the only two people who were jerks to him are Tommy Lee Jones and a soldier who got punched in the face by Peggy. Peggy, Dr. Erskine, Howard Stark, Bucky and Howling Commandos all supported him. Meanwhile, Walker only had Lemar. Sam and Bucky hate him just because he’s not Steve. So when Lemar was gone, Walker was alone and serum just drove him crazier. Not to mention that government shits on Walker immediately after he killed 1 guy. Comparing Walker to Steve in every aspects doesn’t seem fair to him because their conditions are very different.
What in the seven spheres of hell??? It's like john walker hated by sam and bucky for being the new captain america!!! Why would people send death threats??? Let me guess twitter?? Never in my life i heard this kind of thing exists. Imagine that you're life in danger because you've acted in the international film series!!!. looks like we've failed as a society smh
I remember in the beginning of the series, I hated Walker, but then I managed to understand him and empathize with him, then as the series went on I started to hate Bucky and Sam, because they were just complete assholes to Walker, he saved their lives and got him out of jail, hell he even gave them good options to work as a team, but they were still assholes, then I hated Sam with all my heart, because of course Karli deserves to be heard and justified for her actions because she's just a kid, being that she killed innocent people, but John who just killed a criminal terrorist who was partly to blame for his friend's death, deserves to be beaten and humiliated. The worst thing is that they didn't even bother to say sorry or good job John when he went to help in the final chapter, hell if it wasn't for him, the politicians would have died in the truck (Sam only took advantage that John managed to stop the fall, because if it wasn't for John, the truck would have fallen, Sam is strong, but he doesn't have super strength or super resistance to hold a falling truck)
Sam: *sees walker for the first time and hates him and shit on him almost immediately even though he just bailed them out of jail* *sees John walkers friend get murdered right in front of him* Sam: My shield please *Sees karli and her friends kill Lamar, bomb shelters and set a car full of hostages on fire* Sam: you gotta stop calling them terrorists *sees an organization tasked with literally figuring out the lives of up to 4billion displaced people* Sam to the organization : you gotta do better Organization’s head: you don’t understand the logistics of the situation, literally half of the world just appeared unannounced and this task has never been done in history before Sam: just do better KYD films: Sam is a pure character Lmao no bro, he’s a stupid and stupidly written character in this series…also a crazy person for not seeing how karli is a terrorist, eager to fight walker but not karli, damn Disney morality and trying to justify horrible actions is surprising, like Wandavision with Maria Rambo saying “they’ll never know what you sacrificed for them”
John walkers personality and actions to me, felt real compared to other people He didn’t feel like he was comedic, too dark, or childish compared to other characters It felt like they brought a real human into the MCU, and I love that
John Walker was an amazing character and Wyatt Russell did so fucking good at portraying him. His arc was unique, almost from good to bad to good again. I can't wait to see what they do for his character
@@tobsonasanya4765 who is better at the moment? Most of the characters we have now suck. She hulk terrible, moon knight boring, female Hawkeye lame, Ms marvel god no!, And the old heroes like the guardians are headed out the door.
Sadly, I grew to like Walker more than Bucky and Sam. The writers totally shat on Bucky and Sam’s characters. They nerfed Bucky to all hell and Sam seemed to forget what terrorists were. Newsflash, Sam, the Flagsmashers were terrorists. They fit the definition to a T. Instead of lecturing people who were trying to get the world back on its feet, maybe you should have worked with Walker and Hoskins to kill and/or arrest the terrorists.
I have to kinda disagree with you one John, I have always seen him as a good character in the show, it's way different in the comics. However he lost it for a moment when his best friend, someone that fought side by side with, someone he saw as a brother and more was brutally killed by terrorist. ( Yes Sam they are terrorist, get over it.) The man has PTSD and seeing that, the one person that was keeping him grounded just taken away because of extremist, he just snaps. He was just not in his right mind. Now I agree part of that is the fact that he had been made into what he was by the US government, but I don't see the darkness, the pride and what not you see. What I see is a man that wanted to do good, to be as good as Steve, but because of his training, that moment, and being betrayed by a group of spineless politicians that made him. He became disillusioned like so many Americans today. However even with that he's not going to let that stop him from being a symbol and doing what's right, he just doesn't want to wear the lie that was made for him anymore. Then again that's what I see, but great video.
After watching films and TV I realize people are quick to hate people like John because he's at odds with the protagonists. But everything he did i felt he had good reason and was in the right. I never hated John a d actually disliked Sam and bucky for being assholes to him for not being Steve. I was like he's trying to do good and was given this role by the government anyone would take it
Thank you. You completely changed my perspectives and gave insights to these characters and the show on a whole new level that I'd never realized. This made me really emotional for some reason. Thank you.
I really like his character arc, I was more upset by how unfairly Bucky and Falcon were treating him than him turning "evil" which was like one act of selfish revenge. I wonder if his character has a movie or his own tv show in store.
Damn I love going back and seeing how marvel fan boys were still trying to excuse the bad writing in early phase 4 like bro really tried to say that falcon telling the senators to "Do BeTteR" was very inspiring
The people who unironically hate John Walker are the people who don't understand that the characters are fictional. Walker is supposed to have a character arc where he becomes bad but then redeems himself.
Yeah man we live in a Era where when a character kills a terrorist then he is bad but when a red haired b**ch(wanda) enslaves a town just because she wanted to live with her dead boyfriend is loved by fans. Tells a lot about the fandom
John Walker is probably one of my all time favorite characters in the MCU. I mean, he’s exactly what normal person would be if they got the serum and became Captain America. I hope to see more of him in Dark Avengers
I believed in and defended John since day one and when he saved that truck I was jumping out of my seat I know Lemar is proud of him you can also see that in his us agent suit it contains white symbolising his road to redemption also the nod of respect he gave Sam was amazing he basically said you earned it him Sam and Bucky are my new favourite trio and I’m hoping maybe lemar isn’t dead the thing you said about him being accepted from the start hurt me so much One amazing comparison I saw was this Steve Rogers the person we idolise and want to be John Walker the flawed human we are
I actually really loved walkers character. He redeemed himself in the last few episodes. He keeps going on and on besides the pain he doesn't stop he does the right thing. Walker is a man and that shows
THANK YOU! IDK WHY PPL HATE HIM. I MEAN THE GUY IS JUST TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING. AS FOR WHEN HE KILLED THE FLAG SMASHER, THAT WAS JUST 1 GUY COMPARED TO THE HUNDREDS IF NOT MORE THE AVENGERS HAVE KILLED! THE OPENING OF AGE OF ULTRON WAS JUST A BUNCH OF MURDERS LOL.
@@workingman9019 That was kind of the whole point of Civil War: these muther fuckers are dangerous and need to be regulated. John Walker only exemplifies this. I also love this character, by the way. And I agree with this video with the exception of his opinion on Karli. I see his point, but she was alright.
@@dreamquesttv I hated her! I felt like she had no redeeming qualities! Then they try to make her out to be a martyr. I feel like she's one of those antifa douches. Wants everything for free, but dosen't want to work for it.
@@workingman9019 being fair the avengers killed those trying to kill them walker killed a kid not wanting to keep fighting.Cap doesn’t kill innocents he kills those that try to kill him to protect others.John isn’t a bad character but he did a bad thing he killed a person for no good reason.
@@powerfullpummel6417 The guy fought walker to the end! Just before cap knocked him down, the terrorist threw a heavy concrete garbage can at him. If cap hadn't blocked it, it might have hit some innocent people. Also this man is a deadly weapon, we saw they can kill a person with one hit. I say it was a justified execution.
I'd really like to see John have a long conversation with elderly Steve Rogers about what it means to be a hero, with Steve bringing up the 'not a perfect soldier, but a good man' line Dr. Erskine said in TFA, sort of similar to Endeavor's conversation with All Might when he became the new No. 1 Hero.
For all the disney+ mcu shows, John Walker is probably my favorite character. Hell, maybe even in the whole MCU. I sympathized with him especially during Battlestar's death, I didn't really understand the hate he got both in the show and outside.
John Walker is also my favorite character in the show. He's the most interesting and has a lot of character development throughout the show. I have no idea why some people hate him. It makes no sense and the reason I didn't like the Steve Rogers Captain America is because he is supposed to be perfect with no flaws and that was just too boring to watch.
They tried to write him into a way that makes you want to hate him, but looking back he’s the best character in this show and his reasoning for his actions is understandable. Also Lemar was straight up murdered and I hate that people say it’s an accident.
Thank you for this video! This is how I felt watching this show. My friends called me crazy for loving John Walker's character, but this was a man who wanted to do what was right, but struggled with his flaws. He was what all of us who want to be like Captain America are.
Dont know, I liked him from the beginning. In ep1 he just appeared, couldnt form an opinion then. In ep2, they really showed that he just wants to do the job right. He didnt want to replace Steve, he just wanted to do what he was asked to do. How would that make him bad? People hated him for some really weird reasons. Sure, in the next few episodes, we see that he is about to crack, that he isnt used to work in a supersoldier related missions, that he is unefficient. When Wakandans beat his ass, Walker realizes that not only is he useless, but also that he isnt respected. Thats why he takes the serum. He is a really human character, he made some mistakes, but ultimately he just wants to do the right thing, even if sometimes the definition of that is a bit blurry.
There was never any good reason to hate Walker at ANY point, post OR pre- "redemption." I immediately understood that he always placed serving his country, and thus his fellow countrymen above all else. He displayed that with his service in the Army and what he went through in Afghanistan. He didn't seek out being the new Captain America, and you could tell he didn't initially want that, but his government chose him, and he saw it as his duty to fulfill rather than back away from. In truth, John Walker was a victim. His only crime was serving his country; he never should have been chosen to begin with. Because he had already been through more than anyone should have. But he wasn't the type to disobey when his country chose him. He was taken advantage of, and then punished for what became the natural conclusion. That, and Bucky and Sam were total jerks for no good reason. "You're not Steve so screw you pal." I mean wtf ?! They didn't give Walker a chance to screw up before they disliked him. They IMMEDIATELY disliked him, for such a stupid reason. And let us not forget the Flag Smashers were the DEFINITION of terrorists.
I was team Walker from the start not because he should’ve been Captain America but because he was completely empathetic and did not deserve the disrespect he was getting from EVERYONE other than his wife and Lamar
0:12 umm actually because i love john walker lmao he got a lot of shit from falcon and bucky for no reason other than pettiness from both the characters and the writers probably lol Dude was humble, knew he couldn't do everything alone and needed help, wanted to do what was right and was willing to throw himself under the bus for others. My biggest gripe with the series was the way he was treated being portraid as the right thing because he had the shield and captain america title. Dude was suffering a mental breakdown because his best friend just died, and instead of helping him out, both protagonists were trying to manipulate him using his emotion.
Technically he introduces himself as John Walker first and then Captain America, “John Walker, Captain America” - he uses it like a military title basically, it’s the same as if he’s saying “Captain John Walker”
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? HE CLEARLY SAYS "I JUST WANT TO DO THE JOB". WALKER HAS VERY LITTLE EGO. THE GOVERNMENT MADE HIM BECOME CAP, AND AFTER HE SEE'S SAM AS CAP HE NEVER CALLS HIMSELF CAP AGAIN. YEAH HE HAD A MINOR BREAKDOWN BECAUSE HIS BEST FRIEND WAS KILLED AND HE HAD SUPER SOLDIER SERUM. BUT HE BECOMES A GREAT HERO IN THE LAST EPISODE, WHEN HE CHOOSES TO SAVE LIVES RATHER THAN GET REVENGE! I THINK WALKER IS TRULY THE BEST CHARACTER MARVEL HAS TODAY. (OTHER THAN MAYBE DR. STRANGE, BOTH ARE GOOD)
@@vikrambansal1416 Not that speech scene. I’m talking about the scene after he threw a shield to a flag smasher arm and the hostage asked him who he is.
The similarities yet differences in the dynamic between John, Bucky, and Sam and Pete and Happy is something I just noticed. Quite similar scenarios but the roles are kind of switched. In far from home, Peter laments that he can’t live up to the Potential of Tony and “be the next Iron Man” but happy tells him that he can never be Tony. Tony was Tony, a one of a kind guy much like Steve. And that he instead should focus on being the best Peter Parker/Spider Man he can be. Mirroring that we have John in Peters shoes taking up the mantle of a great hero but where as Pete was trying to live up to Tonys accomplishments John admitted and accepted that he will never be Steve Rogers but he wants to be the best Captain America and John Walker he can be now that he carries the responsibility of the shield where Buck and Sam (mirroring Happy) essentially laments that John isn’t like Steve and believes he (and themselves for the matter) shouldn’t carry the shield or title because of it.
On my first watch I really didn’t like John walker at all but my second time watching I find that John was at least trying to be the captain America he can even with Bucky and Sam berating him
Thank you for this. John walker is probably my favorite MCU character. The end of his arc in the final episode did feel rushed, but this character has some of my favorite moments in any piece of media
Yeah I totally agree. Me being someone who thought the show was actually average overall and didn't really like the direction Sam went, I thought John Walker was a complete standout and masterpiece of a character. I could tell that the show wanted us to hate him upon his introduction, but I honestly didn't. I disliked the idea of what he was which was a governmental pawn Cap, but I think that Sam and Bucky treated him too harshly. The man hadn't done anything wrong. Ofc he was a bit arrogant and insecure, but the man didn't deserve hate just for not being Steve. Even after he did something wrong when he killed the Flagsmasher, he hadn't really 'done something wrong.' Ofc, killing someone who's begging for their life and not fighting back is morally wrong, but if we're being honest, his only true mistake that got him punished was doing it in public. Steve has killed before. Ofc mostly in The First Avenger because it was war, but basically idk if it was truly a disrespect of the shield like many believe it to be. The main reason that the government ousted him was because it would create a giant PR mess and make them look bad to keep him as Cap. John did what most of us would have done if our best friend or family had been killed by people within our reach and its an understandably ugly truth to accept, but that's what Walker was: the ugly truth of what many would be as Captain America.
@@KYDFilms Really curious to see what steps they are taking with Loki at the last episode. It's as you said... they are making an antagonist of the story and turning him/her into a likable protagonist.
For me personally I hope to see John walker again and his us agent suit looks cool. I loved John thr first moment he appeared on the screen and he looks both cool and scary with the blood on the shield 🛡 ❤
I think they were doing well with him, but his redemption felt unearned and rushed in the final episode. It feels like they just forced him into a happy upbeat spot because thats how you end stories, not because that made sense for the character. He just sort of "shakes off" the massive mental burden they did such a good job of giving weight previously, so easily and so quickly. He is jogging around and quipping with the boys in minutes. And the tone with his black suit scene, they play Val as more sinister on her initial appearance, but now suddenly its time to wrap up so its all giggles and smiles and hopes for the future. It just felt a little incongruent in a way that damaged the overall character they had built, in my opinion. I don't mean to only speak negatively, but I think the quality of his arc through the earlier episodes speaks for itself and is covered in this video, which I would mostly agree with.
He’s not redeemed though. They didn’t rush an unearned redemption because it’s not a redemption. He saves the truck because that’s always been the person he is, saving the truck was not redemption, it was him behaving in character because a man who earned THREE Medals of Honor is not someone who’s just gonna let people die. It wasn’t redemption, it was a reminder to people that the lens with which people have been viewing John through was incorrect and he’s always been capable of goodness and heroics. And once he let go of that anger and rage, he had no issues with Sam and Bucky because he never really had problems with them to begin with, so working together is basically normal because they were always on the same side. And Walker’s problems aren’t over anyways, it wasn’t wrapped up all neatly, him being back isn’t necessarily a good thing because he’s essentially gone from following one institution’s orders to following another. He’s still twitching his head, which is a visual indication that his troubles are still with him. His path is dangerously uncertain.
@@CaptainPikeachu That's basically a no true Scotsman argument. Even the actor in interviews and people discussing the show describe it that way. It was an attempt at redemption, just because it was so fast and easy and badly executed that it barely registered, it doesn't mean an attempt wasn't made. Look at him before episode 6. He is unhinged shouting at the government, losing his military career, fighting Sam and bucky, losing lemur, having that heavy interaction with Lamars parents. All that emotional baggage just evaporates and goes no where. They do not even hint further issues for the rest of the show. There will be if he shows up again, of course, because thats how drama works. But in terms of what they depict in this show he is nothing but happy suddenly after the truck scene. The guy who beat an unarmed accomplice to death in public now tells us "mercy bears better fruit". I'm sorry, that's missing a few points in the character arc. Sharon Carter is played off as 100x more sinister than walker and Val in their final scenes. He is laughing and happy, it's framed in a completely wholesome way. I could not disagree more with you. The show needed an extra episode or two to work some of its story lines out with more of a depicted ramp up and build to the climax.
@@R0B1NG5 And the writers also made it clear that at the end of the day, what's right is right and Walker knows that, and that not having him ultimately still trying to save people would be out of character. Wanting people to recognize that there's some good in him and that he's not a full blown villain so showing some of his redemptive qualities is not necessarily them rushing to just redeem the character. It only seems that way if people chooses to ignore the established good qualities the character also does have. Him shouting at the government isn't even unhinged, that's just a person being pissed off, given his super soldier strength, he easily could have crushed that podium if he was truly unhinged, but he was restraining back his strength and only simply walked away. That's not someone being unhinged, that's someone being understandably pissed off and upset but still having self control. Yes he did go through a lot of traumatic things, but that's why Episode 6 starts with him still in a bad place and aiming at getting after Karli. But at the end of the day, Walker is still a good soldier who cares about saving people, so he gives up revenge when there's something more important happening right in front of him, reminding him of what he and Lemar was fighting for, what he became Cap for, to SAVE LIVES. And he's not just suddenly happy after the truck scene. Walker's real issue was never with Sam and Bucky, in fact, he spent most of Episode 2 trying to get along and be friends with them, he wants to be working with them, so it's no shock there that from his end, most of the animosity is gone once he lets go of the shield to save people and there's a bigger issue. Him and Sam and Bucky were ultimately all on the same side all along. And we see Walker being contemplative during Sam's speech, in fact the camera focuses on him at numerous points, and we see him seriously being reflective about what he hears Sam say. The anger that led him to fight Sam and Bucky in the warehouse was his own trauma and his own guilt, and needing to project that at someone else to try to process everything, but once he chose to save the truck, he's coming back from that emotional spiral to realize what's really the more important thing. And at the end of the day, Karli being gone is still gonna be a relief for him emotionally. Yes he jokes here and there with Bucky, to middling effect, and he says that "mercy" line, but it doesn't mean he's happy. Being glad of a job well done in the moment doesn't mean happiness. And as for Walker and Val's scenes, it's clear that there's something shifty with Val but they're still trying to keep under wraps but she's no less sinister than Sharon, and Walker literally in that scene is still twitching his head, a tic that we see him do in previous episodes that indicate his emotional troubles, thus clearly signaling that those issues haven't gone away just because he is happy in the moment. And to be frank, why wouldn't he be happy when he still has a job after he lost everything else.
@@R0B1NG5the writers tried to make a shitty wanted to be hated character. But they rushed it so much they made a character that didn’t even do anything wrong at all. It doesn’t matter what they wanted to do, what matters is what they did, the only reason you feel like John is a bad guy is because marvels forcing you to suck Sam and Bucky off the entire movie since they are the main chars.
This video is kinda weird because it tries to display John Walker as a misunderstood character but he’s not. A lot of people seem to love John Walker for the reasons stated in this video. It’s not a hot take. It’s easily the most common take about John. He’s not captain America, he’s US AGENT and that’s befitting.
Can you blame the guy at all? Ever since he was a boy John Walker idolized Steve Rogers, he was John's hero. John wants to be hero but soon learns the tuff lessons and consequences to it. Hopefully as US Agent, John can still help save people but become his own person.
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKED ABOUT MY BOY!! I dont care what anyone says...he is just perfectly written, and Wyatt Russell's Performance was absolutely lovely-terrifying...he is in my opinion THE BEST CHARACTER in the MCU Right now along with Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight.
Walker is the best character in the show, followed by Zemo. He is also a kuch better Captain America than falcon or bucky ever could be combined. Captain America's suit never had much white, it has always been mostly blue, so Walker's is more appropriate. I like you bring up the "good man vs perfect soldier" debate. But those aren't mutually exclusive. He didn't ask to be Captain America, he was chosen after falcon rejected it, only to regret his stupidity and decided to steal that which he surrendered. And Walker was a good man. Not as good as Steve, but better than falcon. Can you ever imagine Steve confronting a senator in a childish pearl-grabbing leftist rant like falcon did. Walker threw the shield to help his partner, leaving himself unarmed against super soldiers, causing himself to lose the fight. He layed on the wire for a friend, which falcon never did or would.
Well his acting skills are undeniable, his character was written extremely well, and for the amount of time they had, they developed him pretty decent.
Dude honestly I’m hooked on your channel right now, I love the way you view things and the evidence and things you use to support. I’m subbed and awaiting more amazing videos. My favorite have to be your Spider-Man videos, I can see the passion you have for the character. I only hope you keep growing. You have another loyal supporter.
To be honest I see myself in John walker. If we’re to be a soldier who was selected to continue on the legacy of a hero and be a hero myself I would definitely feel high and mighty. If I had the chance to work with the heroes the hero I am replacing worked with id want to hands down, and if the whole time they just dismissed me and dislike me for no real reason I would get mad too. If I had the chance to gain power in order to be a better hero I would take that chance. And if my best friend died right in front of me I would be in a rage too. John walker may he be a villain or hero is a real person.
People act like they ain’t see cap kill aliens, soldiers, robots, and agents 😂😂😂😂 Tbh it’s on both Bucky, Sam, and walker They all kinda set each other up, but at least walker was trying to cooperate… until the church part and the Dora milaje Yknow it’s also their fault too😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, I just want the regular captain america back. I don't think he should be brought back, but I mean, picture this. A man who has fought for his country, takes super soldier upgrade, and accidently commits wrongdoing in the public eye, that's the story of John Walker. Who else in the mcu has had this exact same origin story? Bucky, so why does Bucky give John so much shit when they are pretty much the same person, only difference is, John Walker has a way smaller kill count, and Bucky still gets a free pass
I have to disagree with you on some points. John Walker was never a bad guy, everything he does is justified and is understandable. John Walker was a good Cap and the only reason he got stripped of it was because the plot needed him to. Killing doesn't go against Captain America's morals and we've seen him do it multiple times in film. John Walker would make a better Captain America than Sam.
I don’t see how you can not like the guy, he did nothing wrong his brother that fought with him in actual war got killed and he lost it. I would do the same as would any reasonable man. The whole show everyone just dogged on him for trying his best.
Steve Rogers is my favorite character in marvel with Clint as a close second, and maybe comics idk I really like Batman, Nightwing, and Superman. Steve is everything I'm not, I have much more in common with John walker or tony stark but Captain America has always held a closer place in my heart. Chris Evans took a seemingly one note boyscout into a flawed and human character while retaining the morals that keeps the character true. I love bucky and Sam and wish the show hadn't started from those two to focus on the flag smasher. But more importantly I'm happy the show introduced me to John Walker. John walker is just like you or me, albeit handsomer and more well built, probably a lot more likable to if I'm being honest. He's arrogant, rude, egotistical and stubborn yet despite his flaws all he wants is to do the right thing, to be a good MAN.
John Walker did absolutely nothing wrong the entire show. If anything he's more of a hero than Sam and Bucky. He offers them assistance, gets them out of jail, and is constantly holding out an olive branch only for it to be slapped away out of pettiness. Sure he kills a guy..... so what? Pretty much all the Marvel heroes have killed or brutally incapacitated people. When John kills a known terrorist jacked up on super juice however, weak people start losing their minds 🤦♂️
John Walker is easily the best and most complex character of the show, and may possibly be my favorite character in the MCU because he is so nuanced and human. He’s the tragic hero of this story because both within the narrative and out of the narrative, he was set up to fail, placed so high on the pedestal and shouldering expectations that there was nowhere to go but inevitably fall and burn out. His tragic flaw is that he keeps looking to other people to tell him who he is, and as Sam pointed out to Bucky, you can’t keep waiting for other people to do that, to tell you who to be and to approve of you. And John unfortunately looked to everyone else for a sense of secure identity instead of making his own, and the more he lost support, or when Lemar died, or when the government took everything away from him, his emotional state falters because he’s tied his identity to other people and he doesn’t know who John Walker is without them. He manages to hit a pit stop as he fell down this slippery slope into darkness by saving the hostages, by remembering his identity of being a good soldier who saves lives, he didn’t earn three Medals of Honor just so he could stand there and watch people die. Him saving those hostages was a reaffirmation that he is good inside, always has been, even if sometimes that’s lost and warped by pain and grief. But I think John’s tendency to look to others for identity is still going to an ongoing struggle, because while he’s walked away from the government, he’s walked right into Contessa Valentina’s grasp, he’s traded one set of commanders for another, and that could lead him down dangerous paths. Something the MCU can continue to explore as we see him grow into his US Agent role and figure out his own identity. Wyatt Russell was just absolutely amazing, he stole the show for me.
I really liked John and never saw him as the bad guy the writers tried to make him out to be. He was a flawed but good man doing the best he could to fill the role of a legendary hero.
Absolutely. Sam and Bucky were complete dickheads in this show. They were made bullies for some reason. But Sam used to help soldiers with PTSD, and Bucky is actively suffering from it. Yet they have no compassion for Walker at all during the show. This ruined their characters in my opinion.
The John Walker version of Captain America should have been the star of the already dead in the water Captain America 4 movie. He's a kickass machine, similar to how Bucky/Winter Soldier was before they pu$$ified him, and John Walker is something that Marvel's latest movies sorely, sorely need. Let's face it, Marvel sucks now, their movies and their comic books. Enough of the overplayed multiverse garbage, enough of the girl power crap, enough of the intergalactic battle for all life stuff no one can relate to or gives a damn about. But of course they wouldn't put John Walker in the role of Captain America in Captain America 4, then make him and Bucky fight it out at the end of the film. It's as if a competitor planted some executives at Disney to destroy the Marvel franchise. They make so many lemons now, they might as well just start selling lemonade on the sidewalk. Disney has done to the Marvel franchise what John Walker just did to that terrorist. Didn't have to be that way, but the people running the show are completely clueless and arrogant.

Wait how is Steve more human than John? Humans are inherently flawed. Steve was too pure, no one could relate to him. Unless you are an egotist and you think you can do no wrong.
I never hated the character to begin with.

Unpopular opinion: John Walker is far less villainous than Wanda Maximoff but people just can’t see it because she’s fan favorite. I don’t think anyone is ready for this conversation.
(As much as I enjoyed it) I actually can't help but agree
I can't agree only because for me he's not villain
I agree
He's not a villain at all tho. Wanda on the other hand xD oh boy. John did nothing wrong.
Wanda does evil things for selfish but relatable reasons - “YAS QUEEN!”
John does objectively justified things but is angry and hard to relate to -
“Trash.

Eh no
Yeah, John did what a soldier would.
@@Zman.gamer.6989 I mean he could have just knocked him out
@Tobs Onasanya he could've.
I actually love John Walker. My only issue is that his "redemption" felt a bit rushed, but John is one of the best characters in the MCU.
I don't think that was his redemption as such, he is still a bad guy but more of an antihero
I didn’t feel like he had to redeem himself as saving those people was just a part of his character.
I don't think he is fully redem.I think saving people is part of his redemption journey.
He always tried to do good. And it was the obvious good thing to do so he did it.🤷♂️
There was nothing to redeem, because he did nothing wrong
Lemar was the angel on John's shoulder, without him he's lost. Contessa is the devil on John's shoulder and under her influence, he'll be forced to make bad decisions. I think in the inevitable Dark Avengers movie, Val will try to make him do something horrible, but he'll stare her down and let her know that "Mercy bears richer fruit than strict justice." and leave the team. He seems like he could be a great hero if he makes the right choices.
John's a good person, he just makes a lot of questionable decisions.

John was the only well-written part of the show and the only actor who wasn't phoning in his performance besides Sebastian Stan
Yeah its pretty subjective lol

John Walker is a real soldier as much as Sam. And if Captain America actually lost Bucky and see him be killed he might have went nuts also.
Why does anyone hate John Walker? He was right.
I never hated him, I LOVED him from the very first second. He's simply incredible ❤👏
The more i hear about the character, the more i want to watch to root for him
I couldn’t hate John Walker, even if I was paid to
My man... you deserve more subs.
John Walker needed this in depth look. I'm so fucking glad that you did it.
Thanks man 🤟
@@KYDFilms FYI you also earned a sub pal. Would like to see analysis like this from you.
@@Racoon-Man Loki essay on the way 🙏
@@KYDFilms Really curious to see what steps they are taking with Loki at the last episode.
@@CaptainPikeachu
That's basically a no true Scotsman argument.
I know that the majority don’t think this but I personally preferred wandavision to this show
Dude, EVERYONE prefers WandaVision to this show. It's the real ones that actually see the potential of this show and love it. ✊😎

This show is a VERY political show compared to other Marvel's projects whether it's movies or TV shows
Me too bro I like fatws it is a great show but Wanda vision is like more
@@somethingsame8674 in my opinion it makes sense, the show is about captain AMERICA
He's the only good thing that came from the MCU phase four, now known as the M-She-U.
I love John Walker. Written and acted very well ✌🏾🙂
Walker is the best character in the show, followed by Zemo. He layed on the wire for a friend, which falcon never did or would.
john walker is my fav character,he was treated like shit but still he was a good person
After finishing the show, I actually really liked him.
Loved John Walker and love USAgent
I think that he eventually should get his own Disney + series
John Walker is an amazing character
Well his acting skills are undeniable, his character was written extremely well, and for the amount of time they had, they developed him pretty decent.
Dude honestly I’m hooked on your channel right now, I love the way you view things and the evidence and things you use to support. I’m subbed and awaiting more amazing videos. My favorite have to be your Spider-Man videos, I can see the passion you have for the character. I only hope you keep growing. You have another loyal supporter.
John was my favorite character in the show.
"Nobody wants to see Captain America brutally kill someone"
Steve fought in WWII bro
I think it’s weird that they want you too love karli (who killed innocent lives) and hate John walker (a man who saved lives in the finale)
Can't wait to see him in the Thunderbolts
Another film and character Analysis UA-camr with great commentary? Instant sub, great video!
People act like they ain’t see cap kill aliens, soldiers, robots, and agents 😂😂😂😂
Tbh it’s on both Bucky, Sam, and walker
They all kinda set each other up, but at least walker was trying to cooperate… until the church part and the Dora milaje
Yknow it’s also their fault too😂😂😂😂😂
This character analysis of MCU John walker is beyond perfect. I like this show too.
He's very relatable, too. You try and do the best you can, but there's always someone in your face to say they're unsatisfied.
Yes he is hoping he shines more in the thunderbolt's
At the end of the show i hated Falcon and loved John walker!
Wow, what an awesome analysis KYD! I this might be your best video to date.
Now that is how u do a video essays well done sir
Walker( and zemo) we're the best parts of captain falco and the white wolf
yeah that speech at the end was amazing "you need to do better senattor" 🤡🤡
John is the true hero.
Absolutely. Sam and Bucky were complete dickheads in this show. They were made bullies for some reason. But Sam used to help soldiers with PTSD, and Bucky is actively suffering from it. Yet they have no compassion for Walker at all during the show. This ruined their characters in my opinion.
Loved the Video, I enjoyed your tone, the text and the variety and timely uses of Clips Etc.

I never understood the hatred for him
Why should he be hated?
I loved watching John's arc throughout the show and wyatt absolutely killed it acting wise.
John is the best character in the show...Bucky and Sam never stood a chance
