"That shield is part of a bygone era."
Thank you for pointing out how the shield obviously came to mean more than just being a symbol of America itself. No one can argue that fighting the Nazis was bad, then Steve literally missed the entire Cold War and Vietnam war where the US went down a much darker path, in many cases very clearly being the aggressor and oppressor, and as soon as he's back, he fights off an alien invasion, then the second he has reason to believe his government is compromised, he fights against his government, TWICE. That shield does not represent America. It represents Steve. And it could not have been more clear that Steve Rogers operated independently from the US government. He wasn't their mascot. He was trying to set an example for what they should be.

I'll stand by that I think Zemo was meant to be a childhood friend or long time supporter. A figure that "wouldn't do this for no reason" type that Sam would endlessly make caveats and justify. 18:20 I think Karli and her Flagsmashers are satires of what could be called "woke millennials and Gen Z-ers", but I think that was by accident. Maybe the showrunner, who tried to make her sympathetic, was serious, but fumbled the attempt.

    • @wafflingmean4477
      @wafflingmean4477 9 місяців тому +1

Yeah it really felt like them trying to depict a radicalised left. I'm a left winger and sorry it is VERY clear that Carli is a terrorist more interested in committing violence than forcing political action. The nonsensical way she approaches her objectives shows she's either a moron or just enjoys killing. And she wants to just... revert the world back to what it was after the snap? How many nations collapsed into nothing when their leaders disappeared? How many planes fell out of the sky? How many cities starved after losing their ability to coordinate food imports? Anyone with half a brain would want an entity like the GRC to re-establish some sort of global order when half the population returned from the dead. Expecting anything else is sheer lunacy.
When the left gets radicalised it tends to be over something sensible, like police refusing to stop murdering black people for fun. Left wingers became far more violent than usual, because the whole damn point was to demonstrate that the police were the enemy. When the entity charged with law enforcement is controlled by criminals, a display of force becomes necessary, because the left had NO ONE to turn to. The implication even if no one said it is to tell the police "Do your job or we will take it upon ourselves to enforce the laws you repeatedly violate. We will replace your law enforcement with our own, and you don't have the numbers to stop us." You know what the BLM protesters didn't do? They didn't start just killing random people who happened to be near police stations, or organising heists against military convoys.
Whether someone agrees or disagrees with the conduct of the BLM protests you can't deny that it was way, WAY clearer in terms of the movement's objectives and expected results from their methods than anything the Flag Smashers do.

I disagree. The showrunner very clearly either disagrees with the Flagsmashers or needs to demonize them because they work for Disney and Disney can’t poke the bear that is the status quo. You don’t “accidentally” have your anarchist group blow up innocent people because “It’S tHe OnLy LaNgUaGe ThEy UnDeRsTaNd”. This is a classic case of having a villain who accidentally makes too much sense, so you have to make them do evil things so the superheroes have “no choice” but to stop them, disregard their ideology, and not fix the problems that caused them to start their villainy in the first place.

Really? What’s so awful about my take? Also, one note thing before you respond: this video claims that the Flagsmashers want to kill half of all people on earth to make things the way they were during the blip. This is wrong. They do want things to be how they were during the blip, but the thing they liked and want to come back is the lack of borders, as first world countries needed more cheap labor to make up for their losses. Then again, this also has its issues as the third world countries faced mass emigration during this time, but it obviously has more merit than “Thanos was right and we want to kill half of everyone just cuz”

23:44 - real-world correction, that's not a water fountain. That's a pretty standard concrete trash bin from Prague. Explanation: the scene in question was filmed at Jungmann Square, the little monument the terrorist runs towards is in memory of Josef Jungmann, a Czech lingvist, poet, and one of the two people credited with creating the modern Czech language. You can clearly see an escalator behind Walker and the terrorist. That leads to a metro station called Můstek, specifically, it's an entrance for the B metro line. The concrete square on which the terrorist meets his end is not there irl, instead, there's a service elevator of some sort.

I don't get the whole "Zemo is a hero for wanting to get rid of super soldiers" idea. I mean I get it on some level, they're dangerous- but I mean in terms of his moral reasoning. He was quite prepared to use a Super Solider- Bucky- to achieve his ends when he needed it. Was his long term plan to destroy all super soldiers and if so why didn't he kill Bucky?
Carli is just stupid because she's a mouthpiece.
"That shield is a relic from a bygone age...."
    - Cap- used his shield to fight Thanos and save the world multiple times....
    - Used it in WW2
Was still prepared to give it up to save his best friend
Also Carli *asks WW2 veteran who was tortured in a HYDRA prison camp and also fought against Thanos if he ever fought for anyone other than himself.
She is just the epitome of the self-righteous myopic worldview of the show overall. She thinks she alone is good (no matter how many she kills) her goals are good and selfless no matter what and of course the end justifies the means.

It feels like this show was written on opposite day. They made John Walker into a likable and troubled character who has the world against him simply for being new Captain America, and made the Flag Smasher lead into a selfish monster, but play her death like she is a noble martyr. I do like her as a villain, but the show is not making me "like" her the way it wants me to.
BY THE WAY, I did some quick numbers. The Falcon supposedly travels at Mach 2 speeds, which is around 1,534 miles per hour. The distance between New Orleans and New York is 1,304 miles.
So putting these numbers together in a formula results in Falcon (or New pro-terrorist Cap) would have made the trip in just over an hour and 20 minutes without bathroom or snack breaks.
Maybe have him already be in a jet on the way as he finally open the suitcase?
    idk....uuuh....#justice4johnwalker.

  • @Wolffman109
    @Wolffman109 2 роки тому +46

I have so many changes in mind that should've been made to this show, but if I had to pick only three, it would've been these:
    1. Bucky should've gotten the shield. It was teased ever since The First Avenger, and it just made more sense, as well as being more interesting. They could've properly analyzed Steve's legacy, as well as explored Bucky's psyche better. Maybe he starts doubting his friendship with Steve Rogers, wondering why he'd give Bucky such a huge responsibility while Bucky's still trying to figure out how to be something other than a brainwashed murderer, as well as analyzing how society would react to a former brainwashed murderer taking up the shield. Most likely, the government wouldn't want the Winter Soldier taking up the mantle of Captain America, no matter if he was Steve's best friend or not, and that's why they confiscate the shield and give it to Walker. Maybe, after beating John Walker in episode 5, Bucky decides, "Sam didn't want the shield, and Walker desecrated his legacy, so I guess it's up to me", or something. It could've properly explored the theme of military veterans' mental health, which was only brought up by Bucky's therapy and John's rant, but never elaborated on. Plus, I think that in the comics, Bucky's run as Cap was more well-loved than Sam's but that's pretty subjective.
    2. The Flag-Smashers should've been scrubbed entirely. They were unlikable villains, their motives made no sense whatsoever, and I've heard of quite a few UA-camrs who say they were the worst villains Marvel has ever done. However, let's say that we HAVE to have them here. Like, it's the rules. We can just have them as starter villains to kick off the plot, similar to the role Crossbones played in Civil War. That way, we can double down on the Super-Soldier commentary that Zemo kept bringing up in the show, rather than forcing half-assed racial politics like they ended up doing. Like, Bucky could be making amends at the beginning of the show, and runs across them, and realizes that they're Super-Soldiers shortly before they die somehow. Rumors could spread that Bucky (as the Winter Soldier) killed them, prompting the government to force Bucky to give up the shield, which he will, as he's uncertain about taking up the mantle. They will then give it to John Walker, who will serve as one of the two antagonists of the show. Somehow, Zemo will learn of the Super-Soldiers, and make it his mission to kill Bucky (and eventually, Walker), citing his philosophy about them. Because of the rumors, the public will be afraid of Bucky becoming the Winter Soldier again, and that would be a good explanation for furthering Bucky's story.
    3. Sam and Bucky's animosity to each other should build off of the Captain America movies. One of the biggest expectations I had going into the show was that part of the reason they disliked each other was that Bucky tried to kill Sam three times as the Winter Soldier. First time, Bucky ripped the steering wheel out through the car windshield and lead a team of gun-toting mercenaries on a highway. Second time, he destroyed his wings and drop-kicked him off the side of a Helicarrier. Third time, he grabbed him by the chin and threw him headfirst into the side of a cage. As a result, Sam (justifiably) dislikes Bucky. The problem is, not only was there no resolution in the movies, but the show also never even brought it up once. Instead, the animosity was all about Sam giving up the shield to the government, and consequently, John Walker. And that setup was just used for more jokes at Bucky's expense, just constantly trying to humiliate Bucky and making him look completely incompetent without the all-knowing Messiah, Sam Wilson. By having them actually analyze their relationship and come to some kind of reconciliation, there would be a satisfying payoff that would make sense and pave a future for the two of them being legitimate friends.
Let me know what you think about my ideas!

@@Wolffman109Only point at which I disagree with is the thing about Sam and Bucky's animosity: I don't think the movies really support the idea that they hate one another, especially not by this point. Sam probably understood that what Bucky did as the Winter Soldier was not personal or a result of hatred it was just---- because Sam got in his way, and you didn't want to get in the way of the Winter Soldier. He tried to kill Steve too remember- but Steve never held that against Bucky.
In Endgame we see Sam apparently comforting Bucky at Tony's funeral, suggesting there are no hard feelings between them. The series just totally eviscerates Sam's character and his compassionate nature - which was part of the reason why Steve chose him to the next Captain America to begin with.
He worked with veterans who had PTSD: there is just no way a person with his training and experiences is going to make jokes and petty snipes about Bucky, or dismiss his trauma. Sam is meant to be kind, friendly and forgiving- that's what made him a good cap: but in this series its purely because he's black.
I like the rest of your ideas, and especially the social rejection Bucky might have experienced. Although, he does seem to have been quite good at hiding his metal arm with long sleeves and gloves, plus he wore a mask as the WS so would normal people on the street really have recognized him?
The part about the government not fully trusting Bucky would be a useful angle to explore - but I would take it even further. Not just that they don't want him to be Captain America because he was the Winter Soldier, but because of the whole storyline about HYDRA having controlled the government and certain Senators who employed the WS to get rid of political rivals. Its not such a reach to assume some high ups would have been worried about Bucky knowing too much about their dirty and compromising secrets and may have wanted to get rid of him.
Maybe a Senator use the flag smashers or a similar group of new super soldiers to try and take out Bucky and he ends up killing one or more of them in self-defense. That's used to "prove" he's still unstable or violent and he has to go into hiding again but first seeks out Sam to get help.

throughout it would be that she did not present a single minimally viable solution to the problem that she denounced so much.
at best she would just transfer the problem to another group of people.

I agree with everything except the idea of a criminal , a criminal is someone who commits a crime , a crime is someone who breaks a law. This is the definition but when karli says this she is implying the law she is breaking is unjustified. I’m not saying saying she is right in the laws being unjustified but from her view it is. For instance Harriet Tubman broke many laws made by the us government at the time. Many ideals that the majority of the us agreed with at the time. But her acts are seen as heroic now because slavery now is seen a inhumane and unjustified now. In the 1800s it was standard of living but now it’s seen as bad. It took multiple generations to see the Tubman was a hero. Maybe karli feels like she will be looked on simmarly by history. I’m not saying the grc is doing equivalent stuff to slavery but her feeling like they are doing this type of evil shit is up to her opinion

Not to mention there's no way Sam wasn't also filmed standing next to Zemo, implicating him in cooperating in the effort to force the best friend of Steve Rogers back under mind control. At the VERY least, it's clear Falcon needs to be dragged before the UN in handcuffs to explain the situation. And Falcon does not have the benefit of being a super soldier, a billionaire or having an Iron Man suit to deter anyone from taking action that drastic. The average spec ops team could apprehend Falcon.

Really appreciate the support. Still have other works in development. As for this series, I believe I will talk about Sharon first, then John, and finally Sam (which I believe will be the longest one) I'm aiming for the Sharon one to arrive in February hopefully.

    Four quick things:
    1. The Flag-Smasher that John Walker kills is actually called Nico, by the way. Just in case you didn't know.
    2. I honestly thought Ultron was a nice villain, but you do you.
    3. You misspelled "Soldier" when titling this video.
    4. Are you gonna release any videos talking about ways the show could "do better"? Maybe even a couple of complete rewrites?

A world without borders is simply a time bomb, and it would destroy almosy every culture
actually that's currently happening with many people having the same tastes/fashion/culture and more due to the internet
And when that happens it would be because of one leader, thus being like the way of the book of revelations from the bible

John had the patience of a saint. From scene one Bucky and Sam were children angry papa USA dared to give away the shield, they gave up.
John was thrust into that roll, and tried his best while being sabotaged by two people who wanted him to fail.
