    Yeah. Bucky should have walked through the Flag Smashers. They shouldn't have stood a chance against another super soldier, with much better training, and several decades of experience( plus a vibranium arm) . The only possible excuse they could have given would be an internal conflict from Bucky due to his psychological trauma from being mind controlled for more than half a century. But they didn't actually seem to try that.

    I’m so glad that other people see how shafted Bucky was in TFATWS. Honestly, if they wanted Bucky to be bad at fighting they could’ve done so with a simple fix. Have him be afraid of slipping into his past life as the Winter Soldier and go on a journey of learning to trust himself. Let him realize that he can take the skills he learned as an assassin and use them for good. I think a story about Bucky accepting his past as the Winter Soldier and turning that name around would have been so much more interesting and powerful.

    It feels like this show was written on opposite day. They made John Walker into a likable and troubled character who has the world against him simply for being new Captain America, and made the Flag Smasher lead into a selfish monster, but play her death like she is a noble martyr. I do like her as a villain, but the show is not making me "like" her the way it wants me to. BY THE WAY, I did some quick numbers. The Falcon supposedly travels at Mach 2 speeds, which is around 1,534 miles per hour. The distance between New Orleans and New York is 1,304 miles. So putting these numbers together in a formula results in Falcon (or New pro-terrorist Cap) would have made the trip in just over an hour and 20 minutes without bathroom or snack breaks. Maybe have him already be in a jet on the way as he finally open the suitcase? idk....uuuh....#justice4johnwalker.

Also, Ethan can do fight scenes and play a dark, vigilant detective man like he did as Spock from the Paramount plus Star Trek series. Plus, he has the voice and has the right age of Batman where I’m looking for. For Alfred, I think Ralph Fiennes can reprise the role and play a live action version of the character. I also think Colin Firth would also be a great Alfred.

    I don't get the whole "Zemo is a hero for wanting to get rid of super soldiers" idea. I mean I get it on some level, they're dangerous- but I mean in terms of his moral reasoning. He was quite prepared to use a Super Solider- Bucky- to achieve his ends when he needed it. Was his long term plan to destroy all super soldiers and if so why didn't he kill Bucky? Carli is just stupid because she's a mouthpiece. "That shield is a relic from a bygone age...." - Cap- used his shield to fight Thanos and save the world multiple times.... - Used it in WW2 Was still prepared to give it up to save his best friend Also Carli *asks WW2 veteran who was tortured in a HYDRA prison camp and also fought against Thanos if he ever fought for anyone other than himself. She is just the epitome of the self-righteous myopic worldview of the show overall. She thinks she alone is good (no matter how many she kills) her goals are good and selfless no matter what and of course the end justifies the means.

  • @englishlady9797
    @englishlady9797 Місяць тому

    Why does the show hate Bucky? Honestly, I think its because they really only wanted to tell a story about the "first Black Captain America" and threw in Bucky for fan service. Characters included for fan usually get screwed over by writers. He can't be too competent or strong because it will make everyone else look useless, he can't be the one who teaches and mentors Sam about what it means to be Captain America bcause that would be racist. Or something. Notice he's not going to be in the 4th Captain America movie at all. ..and *everything* with the shield is so absurd. We actually already had a story arc about Steve giving up the shield in Civil War. It was designed to show us that values like friendship, loyalty and kindness were what defined Captain America rather than the shield or the recognition. Bucky understood that too, and should not have cared remotely what happened to the shield.

  • @englishlady9797
    @englishlady9797 Місяць тому

    I am absolutely convinced the reason they shoehorned Bucky into the Thunderbolts movie was as a consolation prize to his fans (the ones that remain after that atrocious series) for him not being in the 4th Captain America movie. Which it would make sense for him to be in. The film-makers don't want him in that despite the fact he was in all the other 3 presumably because they don't want to risk "the first black Captain America" (which lets be honest was the thing the series could not stop crowing about...) being overshadowed by a white dude.

    • @Wolffman109
      @Wolffman109 25 днів тому

      The only justifications I can think of for Bucky leading the Thunderbolts are either that he wants to help steer them on the path of virtue, or else that leading the team is part of his government-mandated parole.

    • @englishlady9797
      @englishlady9797 25 днів тому

      @@Wolffman109 Apparently he's hardly going to appear in the movie anyway. Maybe only for a minute or two. That aside though, Bucky is the most logical choice for a leader. He has more military and leadership experience than probably any of the others. He was a Sargeant at 25, which is actually a big deal because you usually have to be in the army for several years before attaining that rank. He was leading troops in one of the worst wars in history, and that was *before* his Winter Soldier days. He is also established as having a good head for strategy and planning, and let's face it. He's not as emotional or impulsive as Tony or as prone to bravado and heroics as Steve.

  • @englishlady9797
    @englishlady9797 Місяць тому

    What Bucky said from 47:50 wasn't logical - but IMHO it doesn't make him a jerk. It just goes to show the writers haven't paid attention to the continuity or background of these characters. Or just chose to ignore it. The stupid narratove wants us to think John killed that Jake in revenge because he couldn't get the person who was actually responsible for the death of Lamar, so what Bucky said about "going down that path" is presumably intended as an admonition against taking vengeance.( I say "presumably" because I am just trying to make some sense out of the nonsensical) It makes no sense, because Bucky never *actually* killed anyone in revenge, so he's never been "down that path" at all. He killed enemy combatants in war, people who his handlers told him to as an assassin and people who were trying to kill him. It seems to me then that his line is just one of those silly ones that's meant to sound profound, but ends up sounding empty and silly. I just see him as a victim of bad writing by this point, and that applies to Sam and John as well...

  • @englishlady9797
    @englishlady9797 Місяць тому

    One point here which I think shows the writers lack if understanding for the continuity and established character arcs. When John bailled Bucky out he referred to him as a "valuable asset". That is literally what Bucky's handler used to call him when he was the Winter Soldier: one of the first scenes in the Winter Solder they say "bring in the asset". Now Bucky is supposed to hate being associated with the Winter Soldier, so *maybe* if he heard John calling him an "asset"- a word associated with his past, that could have been an explanation for his behaviour. We could have had a line in which Bucky at least called John out on it, and told John it made him feel like he was being used. Good writers could have given us that- instead we just get ignorance and forced pettiness to create "conflict" for the entire show.

  • @englishlady9797
    @englishlady9797 Місяць тому

    I agree! The way that they handled the ending of the storyline with Yuri was just... so bad. It had like a few seconds? We deserved way more than that. Its almost as if they forgot about Bucky's trauma and the PTSD storyline completely in favour of the *terrorists and racial inequality*, so everything else fell by the waywide. Also the bar scene was so painful. It would be excruciating for a person with PTSD like Bucky is meant to have had, to have to relive, let alone re-enact the type of situation which traumatized them in the first place. That should have had a detrimental impact on him: even if he agreed to do in the the first place. Also wasn't the WS very existence supposed to be a closely gaurded secret? Natasha said as much in one of the movies. The idea that someone would go about with him openly, and unmasked in a bar, and then offered his services to a petty crime lord is absurd.

  • @TheOriginalAliKat
    @TheOriginalAliKat Місяць тому

    I agree with a lot about what you're saying, except what you're saying about Bucky and John and Bucky's fighting. First, the fighting, I think his skills decreased because the Winter Soldier fought to kill. And when they fought Thanos - he fought to kill. Now he's not fighting to kill. He would probably have to relearn his fighting style to be less lethal. At least that is what I told myself about why these baby super soldiers were kicking his ass. He mentions in CW he wasnt going to kill anyone, but his skill level went back and forth in that movie depending on who he was fighting. One thing about John becoming a super soldier - Carly mentioned the serum made her think she was dying and it burned in their veins when they took it. John was fighting flag smashers and Bucky hours later, and he was fine. As far as Bucky and John go, John says on TV that he didn't know Steve but he felt like he was his brother. That was all it took for Bucky to hate him. He is deeply mourning Steve. He was all he had from his old life and Steve basically abandoned him. Plus, Bucky was left alone for six months in a world he no longer knew. Look at what happened to Wanda - she had nothing and no one. Her brother was gone, Steve and Nat were gone, and Vision was gone. Sam, Rhody, and Hawkeye went back to their previous lives. She was alone, mourning overwhelmed her, and she lost control of her mega super power and took over Westview.(then she was left alone again and turned dark!) But Bucky is forced into therapy - something men probably didn't do in the 40s - and being forced to make amends the way the government wanted him to. So they are forcing him to relive his past over and over again while ignoring his PTSD. Also he was making amends to people that didn't seem to deserve it(the congresswoman) He avoids Sam - maybe because he doesn't want to be reminded of Cap's replacement or something. They never say why, but then Sam gives up the shield. Bucky says at one point the shield seemed like the only family he had left. Sam gives it up, and some new guy has it and claims he felt like Steve's brother. So much of what Bucky is, is tied to Steve, and the shield represents Steve. Sam even mentioned to Bucky he needed to disconnect from Steve. I also think Steve represents Bucky's innocent undamaged pre-Hydra version in his head. Then he meets John while getting his ass kicked. I am sure that's humiliating, and alpha-male responds with anger. Plus, Bucky just found out more serum is out there which makes all of Team Cap's sacrifice in Civil War totally worthless. And Bucky realizes Hydra might be surfacing again. The people who ruined his life and tortured him for decades. So the show keeps stripping down everything Bucky can depend on as well as stripping down his identity and still ignoring his PTSD(they dont even address it). I think he went to Zemo because he knew he hated Hydra as much as he did. *However*, Zemo's revenge wasn't on Hydra. He used them and Bucky as a revenge on the Avengers. He never claimed in Civil War to hate Hydra. He never even blamed them for Sokovia. He hates enhanced people - first the Avengers, then the Flag Smashers - because they think they are gods and supremacists. I think he actually felt a little sympathy for Bucky and didn't consider him like the others because he was a victim. But that wouldn't stop him from using Bucky though. But Bucky is dealing with so much internally and he doesn't share with Sam. He's going from feeling betrayed by Sam for giving up the shield to realizing Sam is a good guy, just like Steve thought. But he sees in John what he calls 'not right'. He doesn't realize that John might be an a-hole and they would never be friends but John has PTSD too. He talks about his medals and how they remind him of terrible things. Then he becomes Cap and realizes 2 things - he's being used as PR mostly and that he's not getting the respect Steve did. Not from Bucky and Sam and not from the public "Do you know who I am?" "Yes and I don't care." He's watching Bucky and Sam still getting shit done that he can't. There is straight up anger and jealousy between him and Bucky. John referred to Bucky as 'an asset' and Hydra referred to him as the asset. He gets in Bucky’s face and says it's all easy for Bucky with that serum in his blood. The same serum that was FORCED on Bucky and John willingly/eagerly took. But then John committed the ultimate crime. He was understandably devastated over Lamar but he murdered someone with the shield. They focused alot on the blood on the shield for a reason. The shield is Steve's legacy and John just bloodied it. Also, I think you watched a different fight than I did. Sam tried multiple times to get the shield and calm John down. It wasn't until it was clear John wouldn't give up the shield that Bucky intends to take it no matter what. John attempts to kill both of them multiple times and saying delusional things about he is Cap America, like he didnt just kill someone. Sam just wants to get the shield away and deescalate the situation. Bucky is justified in being angry but it is escalated because he wants defend Steve's legacy and he is also trying to protect Sam. I also think in Bucky's mind he was doing the heroic thing. They do not make John a sympathetic character when he should be. But his personality was so unlikable. It will be interesting to see John and Bucky together again in Thunderbirds. They do not explain why Bucky was so angry at Sam after the fight? Was it a warning not to give up the shield again? Was he mad because what they had to do to get it back? Or was this 106 yr old Bucky expressing he wasn't happy he was likely in pain? Who knows! I think the worst thing that happened to this show was the break due to covid. During that year there was so many racially motivated events. I think they decided they needed to address it in the show but they left in all of the other themrx so they had too many deep meanings. I hated Carly because she was always given 5-10 min long speeches about her viewpoints but then you had so many other view points and the black Captain America problem came in midstream. When Rhody - a fellow black superhero - asked Sam why he didn't take up the mantle, Sam said absolutely nothing about race to a person who would understand. He said he didn't do it because the shield belonged to Steve. That excuse made sense with all of the other issues with Bucky and John and even Zemo. The race problem only made sense with the Isaiah storyline, but that part of the story could have stayed in without them turning the whole show about race. To me some lines made no sense like when Sam says in his big speech how he could understand because he's a black man wearing the stars and stripes. Well, Rhody has done that for years. Sam basically did the same even as the Falcon just not in stars and stripes. Maybe I'm wrong but I just feel like there were too many messages and Bucky's got lost in the shuffle which made some of his actions seem very out of character. Other complaints - why did Bucky and Sharon act like they knew each other? He tried to kill her as the WS and then watched her kiss Steve but they never exchanged 2 words so why act like they knew each other? They never make 2 thing clear and bounced back and forth on them - is Bucky considered an Avenger to the public and how much does the public know about his past? John refers to they how couldn't expect to walk around without the public saying something about the 2 Avengers. But Bucky went in to see Zemo because Zemo hated Avengers and Sam was one. And Nakajima didn't know Bucky was the Winter Soldier until Bucky told him plus his date asked alot of questions like he was just a regular 30-something guy and laughs about his age. How the h*ll could the Winter Soldier live in your neighborhood and you not know it if it was common knowledge who the WS was? The who are the Avengers seems to be an ongoing issue. It came up in DS2 and Secret Invasion. And maybe others. There isn't a clear decision about who is one by Marvel so each show & movie just wing it. I am embarrassed by the length of my response lol I need to get a life

    Appreciate the iron fist shoutout. Seems it's no longer the worst marvel show.

    This show was the absolute last straw for me with the MCU. Sam and Bucky were two of my favorite characters and John Walker/USAgent was the first character I got a trading card for from Marvel and I've always been a fan. This series assassinated Bucky & Sam by making them petty, scummy a-holes. This is REALLY egregious for Sam who was introduced as a PTSD counselor who then beats on a veteran who just watched his best friend get murdered in front of him. It's legitimately disgusting. Layer onto that the GROTESQUE lionization of Flagsmasher and her squad of terrorists and I was sickened to my core and knew that the moral inversion that was shown in Wandavision was no mistake and was just the new insane state of the MCU's writing. John and Lemar UNIRONICALLY AND ENTIRELY did nothing wrong. Sam & Bucky are pieces of crap. And that's a shame.

      Agreed. Bucky is my favourite MCU character. He's tragic and used to be a good example of a couple of storytelling devices, including the vacillations of fortune. He had a lot of parallels with Steve and could actually have been a great Captain America- if only he had not been captured by HYDRA and tortured. This series could have- should have- shown us Bucky trying to reclaim his identity as Bucky Barnes and rebuild his life whilst dealing with trauma and struggling to come to terms with his past. *If* the writers had given us movie Bucky that could have happened- because he just wasn't petty or underhanded like we see in the series. He was broken and traumatized and lost, but not petty. First Avenger Bucky was kind, steadfast and loyal, which was shown by how his relationship with Steve didn't change after Steve became Cap and this is still noticable in the later movies after Steve helps him escape HYDRA. Sadly though, making characters petty and bitchy, and completely disregarding their previously established personality traits, background or development is common in a lot of series now. It is really just a cheap ploy used by writers to create "conflict" and "dramatic tension". It is an easy shortcut, because there are better ways to create both, they just require more time, effort and thought. You know what I would have done were I the writer? I'd have actually shown Bucky having a genuine breakdown because something triggered his PTSD, because that *is what actually happens* and makes PTSD suck. (Disclosure- almost certainly have C-PTSD). Maybe have it in the middle of the mission. That would be what stops them incercepting the flagsmashers, because Sam and the others have to rally around and help Bucky snap out of it, or go it alone without him whilst he recovers. Nope. I guess writers aren't brave or competent enough to show a super-soldier and Avenger reduced to a shattered, weeping, shaking wreck by traumatic experiences. Their idea of "trauma response" is Captain America beating someone to death with Steve's shield.

    So what was cap supposed to do? Wait for the supercarriers to kill millions while he waits for them to be hovering in an empty field all to avoid killing a few thousand? Those bastards had to come down ASAP.

    The song was pure girl power agenda pushing. It wasn't in the original, it didn't fit in the scene, it's an attempt to retrofit a feminist agenda.

    Bucky still IS my favorite. But I agree that his story was brushed aside. We get crumbs where he deserved fully fleshed out scenes dealing with his issues. For some of the fighting I give him the "not wanting to hurt anyone",so not fighting with full force benefit, just trying to stop them from continuing to fight. And his spacial awareness is working whenever people throw things at him behind his back. Catching the shield, knives, spears that are thrown at him from behind is kinda a signature move from him. I honestly don't think the marvel writers have the ability to write for the character with the depth he deserves. And we know Sebastian Stan could deliver, if they just give him material to work with. See the scene in Wakanda.

    I feel like John walker is a mutant before the serum. His reflexes and strength is off the charts compared to other non powered heroes.

    I agree Bucky is one of my favorite characters, but he was nerfed to death (i will always think that he should have become the captain america) At least in civil war he gave a good fight even out of the winter soldier control but in the show he can only defeat regular guys, something that even maria hill can do He gets beaten by super "people" with no training,gets suprised constantly, he cant even get the upper hand with a guy who just got powers like 2 days ago in a 2v1 fight and barely doesnt pass out after defeating him His bionic arm is a joke, its way stronger than a super soldier arm yet it seems just like antoher normal hand that gets easily weakened or deactivated by just throwing him around. By that logic a guy with a taser gun would beat him easily. The only thing he gets its the weird ability to catch stuff and the "dont be a dick" treatment
