    Make 6mm ARC load it with 75 V-max. 😊

Yes when are you going to make 6mm ARC loaded with 75gr V-max? 😃

Buddy and mine were calling coyotes in a field at night about 30 years ago. Not 5 minutes goes by and we hear this strange swooping noise, looked up and could barely see by the moonlight this owl was dive bombing us! Almost grabbed my friends stocking hat off his head, we got the heck out of there.

Sure would be great if you'd crank up production of 22-250 or 204 ruger considering its fur season....

When will more 6mm ARC brass be available? I’ve been waiting for what feels like forever. Also when will 6mm 65gr Vmax be available?

Only real memory growing up with my dad was taking me out coyote callin one time never called anythin in but dam was it exciting and just a hell of a time going out and having the possibility of one coming in. Been considering starting reloading for my 223 and i gotta say every single projectile ive looked into and put in the cart and have run through the reloading books has been a vmax cant wait gonna be a blast!

I enjoyed the video. It was an interesting advertisement for a cartridge that only Hornady employees can find ammo or components for. Frankly it seems to be going the way of the .224V.
I regularly hunt eastern Kansas public land for coyotes and I have been considering building an ARC upper. I love the idea of increasing ballistic performance but I am not yet convinced the investment in brass (if you can find it) and dies would be worth the reward.
I have a suppressed 18” 223 shooting 55gr V-max’s for coyotes and my son shot 75gr Barnes TSX bullets for deer. In Eastern Kansas I seldom have a shot on a coyote longer then 300 yards.
If the ammo and components ever become available do you think the cost vs reward of the 6mm ARC is justified at these limited ranges? I also have a .308 bolt gun shooting a 165gr SST load that I use for the longer predator setups and for deer.
I am really itching for a new build. I have thought of doing a 16” .300 blackout since I already have the subsonic ammo, bullets, powder, and dies.
That Rainier Arms 18” 6mm ARC barrel, 6.5 bolt, mag, and +1 gas tube has been sitting in my cart over at optics planet for a few months. It’s just waiting for me to be convinced first that I can get ammo or components for 6mm ARC and two that it is superior enough to justify the cost of another build that is very expensive to feed. (If I worked for Hornady this wouldn’t maybe be an issue).
If hypothetically, SHTF I would have an expensive very capable upper and it’s attached optic that is no useless because it has no ammo. I can find 223 and 308 all day. I can build 300 blk from 223 and 308 components that I already have.
It’s going to take hornady actually putting 6mm ARC ammo on the shelves and components in the stores before I spend my hard earned money for something that’s a little bit better. Convince me otherwise!!!!

      Btw - The .243 is 6mm!
This cartridge has been around a very long time and has killed millions of deer, antelope, coyotes and other varmints!

Funny watching this... thinking to myself 'ooh, I have that... oooh, I have that too'. First centerfire I used was 788 myself too, but good lord it was loaded heavy and kicked like a mule, so 12 year old me was happier with a 8x57js... took my first yote with that monster

Seth needs to show a little more enthusiasm for predator hunting😁 I recently inherited a nice Rem 788 in 22-250 like Matt's. It still shoots great and loves your 50gr V max loaded with some Varget.

For years almost all my yotes I've taken with .223 and 50 or 62gr varmint bullets either V-Max or similar, shot a few with my .243 and 75 grainers. Last few I have taken with the 6ARC and 87gr V-MAX, it is a devastating combination. I retired my trusty old bolt guns and use gas guns almost exclusively for the past few years.

These podcasts are awesome. Very informative. Loads of information.
I wanted to ask you something...... we all seem to hunt coyotes, and quite honestly, it is probably my favorite hunting due to the sheer excitement of calling them in.
But I would like you do some investigating and talk about a subject that has been bothering me over the years if you wouldn't mind. I think it is more important than people seem to think. MOUNTAIN LION. Mountain lion are decimating our deer and elk populations. There are not enough tags given out in many states and some of newer rules limit you to hunt them effectively. I live in northwest New Mexico, southwest Colorado. This is becoming a huge problem and I don't think many people realize just what these preditors are doing to our deer and elk populations. With the stage and popularity that you hold in these podcasts I thought you might be able to help.

I shot a coyote with my new rifle the other day. I shot him at 303 yards with my new 30-378 Weatherby Mag. 250 grain soft point ....what a wonderful pink mist. I could not find a piece bigger than cigarette lighter. I am going to call it pink misting!.

  • @rudygeorgiamulesandcountry1594

I shot a Remington 788 in .22-250 for many years for Groundhogs here in Pennsylvania for many years. I sent a ton of "wood chucks" to the pearly gates.
IF ... I could see it I could hit it out to 400 yards with a 3x9 scope.
This was just before we got coyotes around here in NWPA .

As a sniper for 10 years and 4 tours, I've bought my own thermal device from FLIR because the whored out, hand me down, beaten like a 2 dollar ginger hooker PVS and PAS devices. I wish they were the price they are today cause i spent my whole damn re-enlistment bonus on it and i literally cried because the army was paying very generously to keep soldiers at rhat point.. Damn early PAS-13B, which is still $3k, was like having cinder block on your rifle and needed a 4 inch comb pad to get comfortable. Once you got it dialed in it was pretty clear to about 200m. Clear enough to see the gradient in ass sweat on burkas, but nothing like today's optics.

    • @dr.froghopper6711

I feel you man! Optics ought to glow in the dark when you look at the price tag. But that’s a sure way to blow your hide. Bad guys giggle at you. I remember the first time I realized that I was gonna spend more for the glass than I did on the rifle itself. But If you’re after cold shot kills, you really need good glass!
