Just got my CT200U-EX put together today. Took the initial test ride and said that will never do. Grabbed my screwdriver and could not move the throttle screw. I took the air filter off and the throttle screw was welded in place. I cut the screw off and got 27 MPH out of it. Wow what a difference. Going to try the zip tie trick next. I see a Go Powersports order in the near future.
I look forward to this series every Monday. Your basically exactly where I am with mods now; except that I bypassed the governor completely by making a new throttle linkage. I only use mine off road so the K&N style filter was a no-go for me. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how well they will run with a stock intake ported to the max. I only wish they made a Uni filter for the stock air box so I could get rid of the paper filter.
it was fun watching you guys! Definetely getting one and the kit. Make that... getting two!...to have an additional mini bike for a buddy to ride with!!!
Red Beard, can you do a video of switching out the head light for an led light? The first thing I noticed at night was how bad the light sucked. Also, maybe you could add a battery that is charged by the magnetic coils. That would be a sweet set up for us night riders.
been wanting to add a QUALITY off road minibike to my toy box for sometime now. gonna pull the trigger on one soon, but wasn't sure wich brand, make, model, but I think this settles it for me the Coleman's are great either one. as an avid bowhunter I love the Camo but the racks would be very useful on the red one but I see one of these two in my near future. Thanks for the great video
I got me a ct200uex frame, was going to build with a 420cc predator. But changed my mind to 212cc due to budget but when I'm done hopefully I can get a desired 50-60mph out of it
Looks like it made quite a bit of difference in torque. A little more speed and Lonnie could clear that driveway! Before anything i stick a ziptie in the governor spring, cut the head off of one and put it on another. It took the baja warrior from 22mph to 33mph.
You can move holes on the governer arm with the spring going to the carb and raise your rpm as well up to 4800rpm is max ive seen someone get one to go too
I got this RPM with just cutting a few coils out of the return spring. Nice part of cutting the spring is you can lower the RPM back down by adjusting the screw back in.
@@Odin31b I personally dont run them anymore. I have a engine with one still together and working in the engine if I have the time I will. It's more or so one of those things you have to play with yourself. Each engine will be set up slightly different where the arm with the spring to the arm off of the gov shaft that runs through the block pushing on the gear to add rotating mass to slow the crankshaft up when the arms on the gear fly outward and some more things I cant personally think of at the moment. Sorry buddy it's been a fairly long day at work today. Anyways you can also use a stiffer spring to change or adjust it. If you remove the governor and dont want to use a throttle stop screw on the OEM throttle setup you can play with the timing and jetting to adjust the max rpm it will go under load. Without load will be different it typically when free revving it will go to a much much higher rpm.
We installed the performance kit today, however everything didn’t go as planned. The jet in the carb wasn’t slotted and the carb screw couldn’t be backed out. I’m guessing these items are intentional due to strict California smog laws where the bike was bought. Other than that, the kit was great and the bike has that straight pipe Harley cackle to it now. Your video definitely helped.
My suspension would pop back all the way so I just opened it up and stuck a bolt on top with two thick lockwashers and it works perfect now. Way better for offroad
Mines a Baja Heat and i installed a Pred 212 and aftermarket tailpipe (no muffler, straight pipe!) and aftermarket air cleaner and it rocks!! Im over 200 lbs and it really scoots!!!!
Never mind my last comment I found it in the links thank u guys so much u are awesome so glad I found ur video I been trying to find this stuff forever
Riding in the mud I have a fix for that mr. Red beard. I watched all of that. Add it's cuz of the space between the tires. So the new bike is awesome and everything but it's too short. You need to have the calm and red one with the front end that the new Coleman as the hydraulic shocks. And there you go. I think that's what I'm going to do eventually
Thanks got the last one at tractor supply discounted cuz the mice chewed on some of the wires . Gonna have fun ride n durning corona safer at home time .
so if i buy the ct200u ex and take the throttle screw out and put the performance parts on it that should be good for riding on gravel roads right?....ps. im new to mini bikes.
Speed part beauty shots! Didn't take long for upgrades to the minis. Any more trouble from your neighbor? Made me think when Lonnie and you were riding between the houses.
Hey man. Great vid. It appears my jett, 5:48 has a screw that can't be backed out. Like a one direction screw. How do I get it out? Also, my kit that ordered did not come with the new emulsion tube. Thanks.
Red Beard's Garage I have a 2019 model. The screw on the Jett is shaved off so you can back it out with a screwdriver. Also the throttle screw is soldered on so you can’t adjust it either. I grinded the screw off but can’t get the jet out.
You all probably dont care at all but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
@Zachary Deshawn I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I've got a brand new CT200U, less than two tanks of gas through it, oil changed twice, carefully broke-in, never been wet, always kept inside, never dropped, and absolutely perfect for $400. I'm in N.W.Ga if you know anyone interested. Thanks, Doug
Buying one of these for my boys,we have a Suzuki 125 dB,and a 200 Polaris 4wheeler,I think this will be awesome and keep up easily with the upgrade on trails,my youngest is 80lbs btw
Awesome video as always. How much louder is the go power sports exhaust as compared to the stock muffler? Got some old timers in my area and don't wanna piss em off or do I?? Lol
Greg, look into a larger low speed jet. I bumped mine up from a 16 (stock) to a 22. fattened up the bottom end and helped the mid range a noticeable amount. Changing just the main jet makes the idle/off idle run lean.
Older post but the white choke lever has a cylindrical protrusion with no apparent use.....u shove it into the hole of the gas line after unplugging it (while its clamped with pliers) from the carb
I hope so to you deserve way more subscribers you have to be putting in a hell of alot of work for these videos to be this good your videos are so long and interesting it's like watching a 1 hour season premier haha
do you think youd be able to do a mini bike just for mudding or harsh wetland, with low end torque, a snokel type of thing. i bet if you made them, they would be pretty B.A. you could probable build some and sell them through your channel. your channel seems pretty promissing. thanks for the shout out on the live stream.
BackYard Karts the point of a springer seat is for comfort on a bike with no suspension. The springs under the seat become suspension for youe body, as to not destroy your back on hard bumps
I agree Kelly Best. When my EX was slow the lack of rear suspension wasn't so bad, now it can be downright brutal. It looks like it would be fairly easy to add springs under the stock seat.
Well if you take out the governor that's bad for the motor and it will not start my brother did that and it never started so he sold it just to let you know
Thanks for the entertaining videos and helpful tutorials. Using some of your tips and suggestions I built a pretty sweet go kart. Yesterday I took it out mudding and had a blast. Maybe a video on how you keep your karts and bikes clean? Especially the engines?
So I'm about your size & I have not bought this bike at tractor supply yet because it says the weight limit is 200 lbs! lol You are all up on that thing & seem to be over the listed limit. I'm sure the performance kit helps but is the frame & suspension ok so far with you on it? I want that bike bad but I'm scared to get it. I'm 250. Let me know plz
I put a predator and tav-34 torque converter on a CT200U-EX and my Baja warrior MB200. It is by far the best setup, and I can creep up steep hills with tons of torque or do 45 down the road. Getting the tav34 to fit on the 200U-EX required cutting/welding of the frame to install without engine mount risers though.
So what is the name of that same exhaust pip with that muffler adaptor. I real need one for my camo . Please reply with the info of it . Thanks have a great day .
Put a Zip tie in the spring between the governor arm and the Carb. This will give you about 4500 rpms without touching the governor. If your light on the throttle you can feel it pull against your throttle but you can over power it and gain more revs. Also help with clutch slippage. Basically free mod. Dont even have to take the tank off. I usually just lightly wrap the spring with the zip tie. If its to tight you risk opening the bends on the end of the sping if you pull to much throttle. I have also taken off tank and replace this sping with a solid rod to a better effect but i find the zip tie works just as good and is easier.
Do the air filter covers come with the gopowersports kit or do you have to order it separately? Also which of their chain breaks do you recommend? Thanks brother. Love the channel!
I have a question about the exhaust setup...I really like how the new exhaust works and routes to the back, but how loud is the setup with the new muffler vs the stock exhaust?
Had a drunk campfire talk about these little Coleman bikes over the weekend, found your videos and bought one a few hours later. This is gonna be fun
Basically how I got mine too
Went great, got a CT200U EX and slapped a Chinese torque converter on it. Great for rippin around downtown

What specific kinds of gas and oil does the Coleman use ?
@@therealming010w30 motor oil. 90 0ctane or higher gasoline

New models have a welded screw and a fixed jet. You will need to cut the screw and use an extractor to remove the stock jet. Great video guys.
RCLegion just hammerd a flat head in to it came right out
Thanks so much. Bought a CT last week and been smiling since.
Can you give me a list of all the parts you got?
I've found his videos the most useful for working on my 212 mini bike. Great format and awesome tips! Fun videos too!
Love your videos!! Great how you explain everything in depth and crystal clear!!
i got 30mph with just bypassing the goviner with no engine upgrades love your vids keep up the awesome builds!
I think we are going to mess with the governor spring before we remove it. Just to experiment
Great vid, can't wait to see the torque converter upgrade!

hey red beard you have to keep in mind you are carrying twice the weight as you pal string bean there...makes a huge difference too
Have you seen Vanguard's 37hp EFI v-twin? That thing's gotta be a torque monster. What do you think about using it on a go kart or mini bike?
It would be awesome but you would have to make a jackshaft setup. They have a 1 1/8" shaft
You should put one f those clutches you can shift with
do you think youd be able to do a mini bike just for mudding or harsh wetland, with low end torque, a snokel type of thing. i bet if you made them, they would be pretty B.A. you could probable build some and sell them through your channel. your channel seems pretty promissing. thanks for the shout out on the live stream.

really? can you mod it for mudding like that?
Oh yeah. We will after I get a few videos done on the bikes that im wanting to do
How about putting a "springer" seat on the EX for a little more comfort while riding?
thats a good idea, i wonder if that would work on a go kart with no suspension
BackYard Karts the point of a springer seat is for comfort on a bike with no suspension. The springs under the seat become suspension for youe body, as to not destroy your back on hard bumps

Dear red beard. Could u use a 12 volt computer fan as a small engine turbo by mounting it on the air box
It would make a super small difference. I don't think it is worth the effort to be honest
Red Beard's Garage would be cool tho
Kart Kid It would do more to restrict the air flow than to actually help it. It might turn 100-200 rpms. Turbos spin 80K+ rpms...
when are you putting performance parts on the 670?
Soon. Im waiting on a few things before we do the video.
I got one of these and rip it around the dessert. Still stock but fun
RBG for life🔥🔥🔥
Hi. Love the channel! If I install this kit, do I have to upgrade the valve springs? Thanks!
Hey RBG. Those bikes seem a lot faster. I just can't imagine what happens when you take out that governor. I will stay tuned as usual. Thanks
Well if you take out the governor that's bad for the motor and it will not start my brother did that and it never started so he sold it just to let you know
Awesome content, love it!!
Thanks for the entertaining videos and helpful tutorials. Using some of your tips and suggestions I built a pretty sweet go kart. Yesterday I took it out mudding and had a blast. Maybe a video on how you keep your karts and bikes clean? Especially the engines?
I may do that soon. Thanks for watching man
So I'm about your size & I have not bought this bike at tractor supply yet because it says the weight limit is 200 lbs! lol You are all up on that thing & seem to be over the listed limit. I'm sure the performance kit helps but is the frame & suspension ok so far with you on it? I want that bike bad but I'm scared to get it. I'm 250. Let me know plz
Im 250 as well so you are good to go sir
how's the kohler mud cart coming along?
What mods did you add for the drastic increase in payload the bike is experiencing?
I put a predator and tav-34 torque converter on a CT200U-EX and my Baja warrior MB200. It is by far the best setup, and I can creep up steep hills with tons of torque or do 45 down the road. Getting the tav34 to fit on the 200U-EX required cutting/welding of the frame to install without engine mount risers though.
These engines have a small 5/8" output shaft. Thats why we said in the video that go power sports is developing one for it.
Have you seen the 5/8 to 3/4 shaft adapters on ebay? Theyre like 10 bucks. And the plate does have to be trimmed some to fit the frame.
The only thing about that is the key is made in the drive pulley on a cvt. It wouldn't be long enough to fully go into the crank shaft
Where can you order the performance parts? I just bought one of these and I want it faster already!
There are links in the description of the video
I have a Baja mb200 which is pretty much the same as the ct200u-ex I put a torque converter on it n it doubles the top end speed
Oh i know sir. I can't wait to get ours on them.
At over 300lbs the 72 sprocket made it great for me
So what is the name of that same exhaust pip with that muffler adaptor. I real need one for my camo . Please reply with the info of it . Thanks have a great day .
You can find it on gopowersports
I just love the sound of these mini bikes,
Will loosening the screw that stops the throttle hurt the engine
nah
Put a Zip tie in the spring between the governor arm and the Carb. This will give you about 4500 rpms without touching the governor. If your light on the throttle you can feel it pull against your throttle but you can over power it and gain more revs. Also help with clutch slippage. Basically free mod. Dont even have to take the tank off. I usually just lightly wrap the spring with the zip tie. If its to tight you risk opening the bends on the end of the sping if you pull to much throttle. I have also taken off tank and replace this sping with a solid rod to a better effect but i find the zip tie works just as good and is easier.
what about the line coming out of the ohv box
+Hayden Hiner you can put a little air filter on it. I will make a video with that in it soon.
Where's the early crew at
These to kids left school one day an never came back but also never changed lol
That Thing was weak as all get out in the beginning lol
Do the air filter covers come with the gopowersports kit or do you have to order it separately? Also which of their chain breaks do you recommend? Thanks brother. Love the channel!
Will turning out the throttle screw hurt the engine if you hold it at wide open
No it will still governor itself
I have a question about the exhaust setup...I really like how the new exhaust works and routes to the back, but how loud is the setup with the new muffler vs the stock exhaust?
more than double the noise
That's unfortunate...I don't want it any louder but I do like the exhaust not being right under my leg. Thanks for replying!
No problem man
Whats the noise comparison with the stock muffler, is the aftermarket one any quieter?
quite a bit louder
Looking for aftermarket clutch for it for the Coleman camouflage
Is that the stock carb? I heard the stock carbs don't have removable jet?
Hey I’m having troubles finding the kit your using in the video, the link goes to the torque converter kit and I can’t find it on the website
