I look forward to this series every Monday. Your basically exactly where I am with mods now; except that I bypassed the governor completely by making a new throttle linkage. I only use mine off road so the K&N style filter was a no-go for me. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how well they will run with a stock intake ported to the max. I only wish they made a Uni filter for the stock air box so I could get rid of the paper filter.

Just got my CT200U-EX put together today. Took the initial test ride and said that will never do. Grabbed my screwdriver and could not move the throttle screw. I took the air filter off and the throttle screw was welded in place. I cut the screw off and got 27 MPH out of it. Wow what a difference. Going to try the zip tie trick next. I see a Go Powersports order in the near future.
What specific kinds of gas and oil does the Coleman use ?

New models have a welded screw and a fixed jet. You will need to cut the screw and use an extractor to remove the stock jet. Great video guys.

been wanting to add a QUALITY off road minibike to my toy box for sometime now. gonna pull the trigger on one soon, but wasn't sure wich brand,make,model,
but I think this settles it for me the Coleman's are great either one. as an avid bowhunter I love the Camo but the racks would be very useful on the red one but I see one of these two in my near future. Thanks for the great video

Hey man. Great vid. It appears my jett, 5:48 has a screw that can't be backed out. Like a one direction screw. How do I get it out? Also, my kit that ordered did not come with the new emulsion tube. Thanks.
You don't need the emulsion tube and its really hard to get that jet out. I will try and do a video on it soon sir
Red Beard's Garage I have a 2019 model. The screw on the Jett is shaved off so you can back it out with a screwdriver. Also the throttle screw is soldered on so you can’t adjust it either. I grinded the screw off but can’t get the jet out.

Mines a Baja Heat and i installed a Pred 212 and aftermarket tailpipe (no muffler, straight pipe!) and aftermarket air cleaner and it rocks!! Im over 200 lbs and it really scoots!!!!

My suspension would pop back all the way so I just opened it up and stuck a bolt on top with two thick lockwashers and it works perfect now. Way better for offroad

I got me a ct200uex frame, was going to build with a 420cc predator. But changed my mind to 212cc due to budget but when I'm done hopefully I can get a desired 50-60mph out of it

Red Beard, can you do a video of switching out the head light for an led light? The first thing I noticed at night was how bad the light sucked. Also, maybe you could add a battery that is charged by the magnetic coils. That would be a sweet set up for us night riders.

We installed the performance kit today, however everything didn’t go as planned. The jet in the carb wasn’t slotted and the carb screw couldn’t be backed out. I’m guessing these items are intentional due to strict California smog laws where the bike was bought. Other than that, the kit was great and the bike has that straight pipe Harley cackle to it now. Your video definitely helped.

You can move holes on the governer arm with the spring going to the carb and raise your rpm as well up to 4800rpm is max ive seen someone get one to go too
I got this RPM with just cutting a few coils out of the return spring. Nice part of cutting the spring is you can lower the RPM back down by adjusting the screw back in.

@@Odin31b I personally dont run them anymore. I have a engine with one still together and working in the engine if I have the time I will. It's more or so one of those things you have to play with yourself. Each engine will be set up slightly different where the arm with the spring to the arm off of the gov shaft that runs through the block pushing on the gear to add rotating mass to slow the crankshaft up when the arms on the gear fly outward and some more things I cant personally think of at the moment. Sorry buddy it's been a fairly long day at work today. Anyways you can also use a stiffer spring to change or adjust it. If you remove the governor and dont want to use a throttle stop screw on the OEM throttle setup you can play with the timing and jetting to adjust the max rpm it will go under load. Without load will be different it typically when free revving it will go to a much much higher rpm.

Riding in the mud I have a fix for that mr. Red beard. I watched all of that. Add it's cuz of the space between the tires. So the new bike is awesome and everything but it's too short. You need to have the calm and red one with the front end that the new Coleman as the hydraulic shocks. And there you go. I think that's what I'm going to do eventually

hey red beard you have to keep in mind you are carrying twice the weight as you pal string bean there...makes a huge difference too
Looks like it made quite a bit of difference in torque. A little more speed and Lonnie could clear that driveway! Before anything i stick a ziptie in the governor spring, cut the head off of one and put it on another. It took the baja warrior from 22mph to 33mph.
By the way just got my chain break today, its awesome!

Older post but the white choke lever has a cylindrical protrusion with no apparent use.....u shove it into the hole of the gas line after unplugging it (while its clamped with pliers) from the carb
I've got a brand new CT200U, less than two tanks of gas through it, oil changed twice, carefully broke-in, never been wet, always kept inside, never dropped, and absolutely perfect for $400. I'm in N.W.Ga if you know anyone interested. Thanks, Doug

So the kit listed in description only shows the torque converter. Which also displays that it does not fit the 200u-ex. I am looking for the exhaust as well and can't find it.
I got this mini bike for my kids for Christmas and after 3 days of light use the carburetor is leaking fuel at a pretty good rate. I’ve taken the carburetor apart fully and cleaned it, put it all back properly and now it’s leaking again after less than 24 hours. Any suggestions?

My ct200u ex’s governor screw is welded, is there a way I could break the weld, or should I just go ahead and remove the governor entirely?

RedBeard i got a ct200u ex like you modded here. And am looking to swap the headlamb for a 12v DC 18w led. I saw a honda dual coil that outs out 12v dc 50w. It may fit but wanted to see if you knew a good options
Where did you get the EX model I can only find the ct200u and I've always wanted to buy one of those. Do you think if you put a torque convertor on there that you would get some more torque for hill climbs and stuff cause the motor didn't seem to have enough torque to get up the hills. - Mini Moto

Well if you take out the governor that's bad for the motor and it will not start my brother did that and it never started so he sold it just to let you know

Just got mine in from go power sports and it didnt have the performance tube just the performance jet. Looked back online and it says it didn’t have one with it wonder why ???

Is running the engine consistently at full throttle with the screw out safe? And it won't damage the engine?
So, how much power difference between that engine and a stock 212 Predator? I just put an untouched Predator on a similar style bike, and it went 41 MPH. My 1968 Taco 22 has a Predator with a 22mm Mikuni, cone filter, and a very expensive megaphone exhaust that has only hit 39 MPH, but I'm still playing with jetting. Both have 10/60 gearing, but my the Taco has much shorter tires.
Where can I find and buy the kit u put on the ct200u-ex the camo one I can't find anything for mine I at least want an exhaust but that filter would be awesome too
Greg, look into a larger low speed jet. I bumped mine up from a 16 (stock) to a 22. fattened up the bottom end and helped the mid range a noticeable amount. Changing just the main jet makes the idle/off idle run lean.

Dear red beard I love your vids my friend got the red one from Wal-Mart and a week later I got the camo one from tractor supply his sprocket broke in half so he's getting a 12 tooth sprocket and I'm getting a stage 4 race kit and I don't know a lot about engines but your videos make it seem a lot easier I was wounduring if you ould put a stage 4 kit they say it will go from 6hp to 13ph please respond it would mean the world
I cut the bolt on the carburetor bracket that limits the accelerator arm from opening all the way and I cut 1/2" off of the spring, that runs on the outside of the accelerator cable and the Coleman CT200u EX starts fine with the choke in and as soon as I turn off the choke the mini bike takes off and only the cut off switch will stop it. Did cutting that spring cause that? If so where can I get the original spring? I checked gopowersports.com and I couldn't find the spring there.
Does the muffler do anything else beside making the exhaust more quiet?
I have a Baja mb200 which is pretty much the same as the ct200u-ex I put a torque converter on it n it doubles the top end speed
