a huge part of your low top speed is the gearing on my mini bike i put a 10t clutch and a 50t rear sprocket and my top speed is 41mph and i still have the governor in the engine
Kade weber a 10t clutch and a 60t rear sprocket sounds good to
Me... how do u guys think that would roll? And maybe a pipe and a torque converter also? Ty
if i have a torque converter would I still need a 10t front clutch? I want to get good top speed without losing torque
Thanks. These are exactly the type of real world tests of these upgrade parts I like to see. I like that you traded riders to show the performance increase with the weight increase (no offence RB).
Its no secret im a big boy lol. Thanks for watching man
Thank you.
I'm a disabled veteran and I bought this bike for my granddaughter. We want to get some more zip out of it.
Best way too make it faster for free without risk if blowing engine is bending back the throttle restrictors, mine went from around 21 stock to almost 30 just by doing that👍thank you for your service.
@@charliejanasik8648 I appreciate the thank you ! Yep, bent that little tab back and zoom, zoom.
Your Buddy Lonnie reminds me of Tickle from the Moonshiners lol.
YESS
Thanks for vid, I especially liked the demonstration of the carburetor work.
With my CT200 I got 24.8 MPH on stock engine and transmission with throttle screw limiter backed out and 38.5 MPH on stock Predator Hemi with TAV2 clone torque converter and throttle screw backed out. I'm about 205lbs. That was just one GPS run, I think it will go faster actually.
I'm not sure why you didn't back the throttle screw out for before/ after tests in this video. Anyone doing these performance mods would have already done that.
How much do you weigh?
if you guys eliminate the jack shaft also it would give you almost 10 mph more
I like how you guys do a before and after mph comparison when adding new mods to your eengines.
When I was just learning about mini bikes this was one of the first videos I watched.
I know its a long shot, but I would love to see ya'll make a drag bike and drag race cars and cameras. I can dream.
To be honest we probably won't be doing any collaborations with c&c. We are all busy and I have too many builds to do.
Makes sense Red! Keep up the good work, really like your videos!
Red Beard's Garage how long does it take to run out of gas
Sounds like there is some beef there?
Cars n Cameras is a good site but they tend to avoid torque specs and their builds constantly break I would have to give Greg the advantages he does his torques and spec’s/clearances like their supposed to be done besides Ike is the only knowledgeable guy on the engines.
Delete the jackshaft assembly and put a torque converter on it i have mine up to 47 no performance mods
that what my home boy did!!! got 50
but straight cain and clutch
big doesn't surprise me these things are good and yeah clutch did alright for me
That's what my does with a torque converter. Lots of torque speed and can pull the front wheel off the ground.
Tyler Lewis had my Baja Heat up to 51 with basic mods
This was really cool. I was curious what the performance parts would add. I bought two of these minibikes last summer and removed the governor and replaced the centrifugal clutch with a torque converter. I also reduced the driven sprocket down to 8T from a 10T. Before the reduction it went about 41 MPH, and now it does about 38 MPH. Definitely awesome! Enjoy it!
Thanks man. They are a ton of fun
Wheeling a lot with that 8 in there? For your top speeds is your engine still stock? Are you turning more RPM's at top speed with the 8T than the 10T at top speed?
Surprisingly yes, I can patch out on gravel and wet grass pretty good by leaning forward a bit. It wheelies pretty good too if you time it right. The engine is still stock yes, no performance mods added. I would have to say that the 10T gives you optimal speed/acceleration. We tried a 12T and it was geared too high. The stock engine couldn't push it over 35 MPH. So we opted for the 8T to get more hill climbing power. We felt that 38 MPH was fast enough to be ripping through the ditches with no suspension.
I bought the same exact bike two weeks ago at Rural King for $400 because it had some stratches on the top of the frame near the handbars. Yesterday I ordered the same stage one kit minus the muffler...I hope I get great results as well. I pulled back the set screw on the carb and noticed a huge difference. Next month I plan on removing the governor and install new valve springs....then I'll be set.
I have this frame!! bought it from a kid that bought it from you !
I rep Red Beard's Garage everywhere i ride. Thanks for being awesome and making great videos! #Nashvilleminis #RBG
I saw it when he got to the top of the hill ..big difference! 👍
You can not change the top speed with performance parts, it has to do with the max RPM the motor can make vs the rear sprocket size, unless you change that ratio the speed will stay the same.
bogus, hell yes it can. have you ever owned anything? it is not capable of reaching it's peak rpm without performance parts.
Dude I put a header on my Coleman ct200uex with the stop screw limiting that throttle to about half and that header made me 2 mph faster so bull shit performance parts don't make you faster have you ever modified anything
Your so dumb
You should unscrew the throttle stop screw to get a little more top end.
We did in the next video. We wanted to do everything as stock as they come to show the difference in the parts off the shelf
Davin Lyda did that on my daughters and it made a huge difference. But now she is saying it's to slow for her and she wants something faster lol.
Red Beard's Garage can you guys please buy a monster moto mini bike
Yeah we will in the near future
Unscrewing the throttle will get you up to 23mph
Hey RBG..Great video. I think that every one should get a shirt and cap. They are NICE. Just ordered mine today. Thanks RBG
We greatly appreciate it man
Awesome video! I received my office Red Beard Garage stickers in the mail today thank you guys so much God bless yall!
Thanks for supporting us man
I unscrewed the throttle/governor screw on the engine just below the airbox.
Just enough so the rpms do not kick on the Governor itself.
Top Speed 25.88 mph. When it hits 26mph, governor kicks in.
Btw, I'm 5'7" and 280lbs.
Yeah we have done that to these bikes. I just wanted to leave them exactly how they came out of the box for this video
I did the same, im 150 5-7 and im just under 30mph on rec90 ,mobile 1 oil :) sweet vids RBG
Red Beard's Garage do you recommend taking off the governor?
would you recommend this upgrade for the Coleman CT200U, Coleman CT200U Kit - Stage 2
The Coleman Stage 2 kit allows bolt on performance that will wake up the stock engine and give you a big bump in power! The muffler will keep the sound down while giving you more power. This kit is designed specifically for the stock 196cc Hisun engine, but will also work with the non-hemi Predator 212cc engine in the Coleman frame.
This Kit Includes:
(1) Angled Air Filter
(1) Air Filter Adapter
(1) Choke Hold Bracket
(1) Heavy Rubber Gasket
(1) Race Ready/CNC Bored Box Stock Carburetor
(1) 1" Exhaust Header w/ Screw-on Muffler
(1) Exhaust Header Gasket
(2) Valve Springs
I keep a tool bag strapped to the back with everything I need plus some extra parts ( chain links, spark plug, screws ) an impact for faster work. Dont need it often but it saves me from a long walk back to the trailer or house lol I throw my chain all the time
Great start! Looking forward to the differences.
After I upgraded my jet I had a small fuel leak, watched this and went back to check for the o ring. Gone.
Thanks for the help dude, good shit.
Unfortunately, the poor stand and the placement of the upgrades spell disaster.
You can take the jackshaft off or modify it to where you can flip the clutch around and connect both of the chains together, take about 6-7 links off and run the chain straight to the back tire I got 42 mph doing that
You may want to brace that header pipe, its flopping around quite a bit. Mine broke about 4" up from the flange the first time I hit the trails with it. I welded an open end wrench I had laying around between the flange, and 1/2" past the first bend to take the flex out of it. Also the stock air box can be ported out with a dremel to make just as much power as the air filter kit. In back to back testing it felt identical to the straight thru filter. I'm running a 1.0 mm (#39) drilled jet the ported box and stock filter, and the AFR is almost perfect so it must be moving some air! Maybe you guys can do a comparo between the kit and a ported stock intake?
Yeah I figured I would have to brace that header. I will do the video on the ported stock vs aftermarket soon
Hey red beards garage if u didnt already know on the throttle manefold there is a philips head screw that you can loosen and it allows the throttle to go back farther. Great video man keep up the good wor
Yeah we took it out in a later video
Which one
My top speed with a governor was 25 mph removed the governor and added 18 lb valve springs and now it maxes out at 38 mph
I don’t know why but I think it looks badass with that air filter on
The weld on your front rack where it bolts on to the fender broke that’s why it makes that metal noise when you goose it. Myn broke and I pulled some of the cleanest welds on it and then it broke again so I didn’t feel like pulling it off again so I just wrap it with electrical tape!
I want to buy one and lighten the flywheel, port it and put a bigger piston in the case. I wonder if they have engine mods from china that work. I'm sure the better carb improvements and filter / exhaust it really improved
the kit seemed to make it run better , sounded good also . Roll Tide from South Alabama
Thanks for watching man
The reason it went their was no change in top speed was cause of the engine. That Honda clone engine that comes with the Colman products are extremely cheap and restricted. If you were to put those upgrades on a predator it not only would have added more torque and horsepower but an actual change In top speed. Probably from all the way up to 5 mph more depending on weight but most importantly torque and acceleration
Dude your sub numbers are growing quick congrats
Thanks man
the new parts look better with the bike
A predator and a Tav 34 go nice on those.
waiting to see torque converter on the ex
Mine does 33 with stock carb and jet and jackshaft assembly. I removed the govoner as well. No aftermarket sprocket. I’m sure most of these are way tuned down than others. With the govoner on I maxed out at 26. I have a AR sports stage3 header as well
You guys are awesome. Please keep vids going. It's gonna b nice!
Pull behind mini bike camper? Would be sweet
Heck you could even go with flexible solar panels and run LED lighting and for the fancy 12 small ac heater unit
so many things to try out. 60 tooth rear without jackshaft straight from clutch 6 to 1 ratio. 72 tooth 7.2 to 1 drive ratio.
Red Beard I now have two CT200u. My 2nd was outfitted with a Uni straight pipe and air filter. My stock CT200u is faster.
It's funny the Law & Order test. One sounds faster. Top end speed it's slower. I'm gonna put the stock muffler back on.
seriously...I was just gonna buy the performance kit til I saw your comment. It's really not worth the $?
fishingtwister I have 3 working of 5 Coleman Mini bikes. All with the same torture converters. Zip tie trick on the throttle. Change out the jet also just like Red Beard does. Love my mini bikes.
@@jimmymcfarland4184 Just did the zip tie trick and first speed run of 34 mph...not sure how long i can hold open before I bend a spring... awesome free power!!
Would recommend a torque converter and a governor adjustment
All ya gotta do for free to add some speed is take the Throddle screw off and it’ll hit 25 and you’ll notice a pretty big difference
Nice demonstration & comparison of " Hop up kits " offered by " GO POWERSPORTS " . I just ordered more HOT parts for our Hot Rod engine. Also Greg, I'm currently designing a tool to compress heavier valve springs in to install the valve stem keepers and if you dont mind I'll make and send one to you to try out. ..... Bob.
Yeah man. I have some 35lb I need to put in a 420cc soon. That would work out great
Are you going to continue with the predator chopper build? It's my favorite so far would like to see the end product and especially the installation of the engine. Thanks
Yeah im just adding onto my garage right now and waiting till thats done
instablaster
Looks really snappy ‼️
Informative as always. Next steps?
Sprocket change then eventually cvt
I'm just not a fan of removing a governor, play with the springs/paddle using a mini-tach to squeak an extra 750-1000 rpm sure, but B&S type engines usually start self destructing running much over 3800-4000 rpm.
I have ran Honda, Honda clones and predators without the governors for years and never had one fail.
I have a 15T front sprocket running a 1” shaft with a sleeve no jack shaft all the way to a 52T rear sprocket 3 to 1 gear ratio Governor bypassed not removed and even though I did loose some torque I clocked 57/59 top speed. Only upgrade is a .38 jet Large Air pod and 2 stage straight header. Gearing is a big part in speed or torque and you will loose torque to gain speed. The only other thing I may do is heavier valve springs if I decide to put my 24mm Mikuni on it so I avoid valve floating. Good video but change the gears.
Red Beard's Garage please back out the set screw
Hey Red Beard! your vids are cool. I just bought a ct200u, is there a developed torque converter kit for this bike yet? I see others chopping up their frames. I don't wanna chop any part of my bike up. keep up the good content!.
It will take another month or two before they are available. They will be on the channel as soon as they are
awesome! im sure I will be wanting to convert to a converter asap!
You will have to cut the frame
i have the same bike remove the jack shaft and go torque converter 50 plus mph with a pred 212
i also weigh 250ish
We would remove ours but we like to trail ride.
I love y'all guys
We appreciate it man. Thanks for supporting the channel. We have a lot coming so watch out.
Red Beard's Garage I want to built a big block 420 to put on my mini bike
Red Beard's Garage I will be looking forward to it!!!! y'all learn me so much!!!! keep the video coming!!!!
Hey man u should tighten the gooseneck up if you do it will stop rattling when you excelarate
Love ur vids there really fun to watch
Nice video. Love your content
Thanks man
Yeah jackshaft assemblies along with the chain tensioners suck!! They make those crappy noises
Hey Red Beard love the videos. I have a stock CT200U EX and I just ordered a new exhaust and it's my understanding that I need to re-jet the carb. Could you possibly tell me what size jet to use? Thank you!
My Coleman CT200U ex gave me stock 20mph once I unscrew the trotle screw I got 25mph. I ordered the torque converter and performance kit to see what improvement I get.
Did you find the performance kit was worth it? I drilled off my throttle screw and also reach 25 but hear some claim up to 42 mph with kit while others say the stock muffler was better! Thanks
Will you be reviewing the new coleman bt200x?
Yeah soon sir
I have a mini bike with a predator 212 with only a jet,air filter, and exhaust. And I got it up to 40mph exactly. I wanna take the governor off soon
Love your channel RedBeard!!!..I’m wanting to get the ct200u and was wondering how to do that zip tie governor bypass,or should I take gear out?👍🙂
I took mine out completely and it does almost 40 Mph with no performance parts. I ordered a bunch of stuff for it including performance parts so we will see🤷♂️
Lonnie literally looks like my boy chris just without the beard lool
Gonna get two!
Good video!
i just bult a bad ass 3 wheeler two wheels up front one in the back
What about the hole that was at the top of the engine going to air intake before. Did you just plug it or put something else?
can you get a Coleman go kart and turn it into beast of a kart
Yo red beard, would the performance kit work on the ex model? I would assume so cause it's the same engine but you never know. And do you plan on doing the kit on it?
Yes it will. Next Monday will be the video where we install it on the EX
Red beard can we see some more the cf 200u ex??
Next Monday sir
Good video thank you bud how do you guys get the speedometer on your phone I got a lot of toys and I'm wondering how fast they go thank you
Digihub
Where do you get these performance parts from I want some for my ct200u but can't find them
Links are in the description of the video
Does the propulsion tube come with the kit or is it already in the carb on my bike? Thank u.. liked n subd
Emulsions tube
does the code no longer work?
Coleman is still in business?
For a while now we have had to get Coleman generator parts off Amazon , like they are fading out.
And from what I knew, they didn't make a lot of their own items anymore and did mainly badge engineering, so who makes the minibikes ?
They are still going strong as far as i know.
Hisun does half the work on the minibiked
S
Hisun makes the motor and bike, coleman puts there racks and name
YESSSSSS!
Do you know of a way to make it quiet? Also, is this the same as RLV performance silencer?
do you perhaps have a video of the installation of a stage 2 kit?
you guys wouldnt happen to have any mini bike frames just lying around would you?
No I wish we did
Hey buddy great reviews. Have to ask if you don't mind. My brother wants to buy the ct200u. He's 235pounds. The recommended rider weight is 235pounds. How is the ct200u holding up? Do you think he will be OK with it at his weight?
Cheers
I am 260 and you will see on the next video I was jumping it. Lol
I screwed up something when I took the governor off of my Coleman CT 200U and now when I turn off the choke it takes off full speed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Just make sure the throttle is set up right and there is no leak on the carb
Love ur vids
I love that “ bam bam” peoples court sound “ rotfl
I never thought about this but does anyone know if it is safe to ride in the rain with that high airflow filter exposed to the elements? Even with the cloth cover?
Great video my muffler fell off on my btx200 any idea if the kit will work? Any feedback would be appreciated!
Merry Christmas my name is Andy and I am 12 and we are installing the performance kit on my ct200u and need to know what to do to the breather on the valve cover.
What is the part number for that kit bro the dude at gopowersports was not helpful at all with helping find the exact kit you used thank you very much.???
There is a little tube running from the stock airbox to the head of the motor. You didn't mention what you did with that? Delete? Tie off?
would they still be good at the hill climb without the performance parts? thanks.
If your light they do ok
Hells ya
Do you think you could show a governor removal?
+jordon sprauve yeah when we get around to doing it we will show it.
Have you guys serviced the clutch on that thing yet? Any issues with it?
We haven't had any problems with ours and we haven't had to service them any
How did you get your sponsorship
Do any of these add ons or performance parts fit the Coleman BT200x ?
Does the jackshaft slow the bike down compared to a bike with no jackshaft?
Yeah but we off road ride a lot and want to keep it until the cvts are done
The problem is what is going to happen to the parts when you lay it over on its side?
Snap snap
Montauk Saturday 160 beautiful better performance on it it'll work better
thanks red beard I orderedmy kit and your name gave me 10% off ill let ya know how it goes.. I got the coleman 200 the trail one nice bike to..cant wait til parts get here. so is it worth putting new clutch with belt on? thanks robert
Did you find any difference in the kit compared to stock?
RBG great vid. I did the gopower stage one, and the zip tie, but didn't get the valve springs☹️ I'm turning right around 4900 rpms. Only thing I've encountered is backfire on slowing "no muffler" and a skip at idle? Think I need to go ahead and order 18 lb springs? How can I tell when valves start to float? Engine damage? Thanks.
+Melloreel you can hear them. It's kinda like a lifter ticking sound
Red Beard's Garage so do you think I should go ahead and install the 18 springs? And what is the max RPMs I should run with the 196cc motor? Thanks for all your help.
+Melloreel I would definitely do them. They float around 4200rpm
Do you have a video on how to adjust the stock carb after the jet change? My kit came with an after market carb because it is the newer version where you can’t remove the jet.
Do you have any advice for building a 4 seater with all wheel drive and dual v-twins?
I would just do one engine and get a atv transfer case. It would be pretty hard to do the twin engines
