I'm a total gear nerd and I get overwhelmed by all the amazing innovations every drum company has. At the end of the day, Tama has the most intelligently designed everything from shell construction to pedals, to stands, throne, etc. 20 years ago, I walked into a drum store and mashed on some early-model Iron Cobra pedals with my hand and thought, "these are clearly better than everything else! What is all this other shit?"
I own this, the HH905N and it’s nice. Not better than my Pearl Eliminator which is more sturdy and feels better under foot. Also, not having 2 pieces of felt on the clutch fucked me up and like an idiot I put the felt on the top of the cymbal and after 5 minutes of playing and figuring it might be on wrong it jacked up the hole of my top cymbal smh I had to take a sand pad to sand it out smooth so beware newbies. Wish I would have seen this video first but I do like the idea... less contact with the cymbal. I’ve seen other people do this, too. I’m definitely not upset I bought this, it looks nice and feels good to play. It also has some nice features I’m just a bit let down with how much the damn thing wobbles, it took me a while to balance it and I can still fairly easily push it over whereas the Eliminator is rock solid whichever way I adjust it. I’m sure it has to do with the pedal, how easy it is to fold up and doesn’t lock into place like the Eliminator does, but I’ve tightened up the screws on both sides which helped out a bit. Whatever… can’t win em all, Tama and I still love ya guys. My Iron Cobra 900 is the best damn pedal I’ve ever played… 20 years old and I just recently cleaned it for the first time, it’s been through it all and has never given me an issue and still feels better than my new Speed Cobra, but that thing rocks, too. I would be interested in a new IC 900 tho but why bother if my old one still works and feels great?
What is the overall height? I want a hi-hat stand that is very tall to allow better recording and reduce hi-hat sound bleeding into my snare microphone.
