Tip #6 is my new favorite step. I never used to do this. Quick wipe down with water and a thin layer of oil on the entire griddle before cooking makes so much sense to keep the griddle clean and evenly seasoned.

@RuaWaterwalker thank you. I'm making winter hats for the kids in my county that's still doesn't have electricity or homes. The big problem now is dcf is taking kids from their families in the places harvest hit. Its so wrong. They still need a lot of help. I just got my internet back a week ago. Over a month lol but there are areas hot harder and still need help. Blankets, warm clothes , Heaters etc.

Welcome to the Blackstone family! Love Blackstone products. We have had our BS Griddle since 2015, gave it to my husband for his birthday. He still uses it everyday, although we have 4 more BS griddles in various sizes, as well as the E series indoor griddle. We have loved BS for a long time and it’s our go to grill for our every day use. My best tip is to use it often and it seasonings itself more and more after each use. Don’t get discouraged if food sticks on the first couple uses, just keep cooking. Season it well, clean it properly, keep it away from water, treat it like your favorite cast iron pan and it will treat you well for years to come. BS UA-cam is your friend for great recipes and cleaning tips.

Hi BB . I agree with having everything ready before you head out to the Blackstone but in my situation it’s better to do most things on my Patio. I do most of the cooking which my wife loves but I’m messy. When I cut up veggies it gets ugly inside especially Cabbage. I cut it outside & I use my leaf blower to clean up .

    • @BlackstoneBetty
      @BlackstoneBetty 10 місяців тому +3

Love that 😂 when I say prep I mean just get all your ingredients gathered! I do most my cutting and mixing and such outside too! But hate to have to run back in and out for how many utensils or whatever I may have forgot! Also love keeping the kitchen clean for your wife!!!

One thing I have learned over the past couple of years with my Blackstone is most cooks are done on low to medium heat. It’s easier to add more heat when needed by either turning a burner up or turning on another burner.

I cook every Saturday evening. I've cooked with charcoal and with in-direct heat, I finally got use to a gas grill and cooked for years on it. I have a master built smoker that I don't use near as much anymore since I bought a Blackstone 36". I'd rather cook on it than anything else. Thanks for the heads up on the onions. Good Idea. My son-in-law has one also and has rust issues. He bought one with the Blackstone lid and I noticed there is a huge area for air to get to the griddle when not in use. We live in the humid South. So I opted for a custom aluminum cover that lays close to the top edges. I don't have those issues. I also bought a heavy duty plastic tote that just fits on the shelf under the griddle to store anything needed to cook on the griddle . Like I said before, I really like cooking on my griddle!

Happy New Year, Dez!…. Yeah, I have to “prep”, too… but like the one who said everything done on patio outside, I need to do some stuff outside to… otherwise it’s too much to carry outside to keep the cooking time in check… biggest issue is when I forgot something three times while the food is cooking! Marathon racing to keep from burning on this hot surface-even on lo/med lo…
I have a church project imminently due…with the threat of snow 17 Jan…sent a certain “somebody” an email with previous year’s project images for any suggestions to switch up…haven’t heard from yet…😔

Overall buckle up because a Blackstone is one of the best things you can own to cook on!!!

Loved the Video I was a cook for years, I do agree with and do all you said. What I will say to new owners don't be intimidated you are not going to hurt the griddle. The more you cook on it the more you will learn it is just a big cook top and you don't have to cook in small batches!! I would suggest that if you are lucky enough to have a large enough area to get a small fridge to keep stuff in if not a cooler will work. I do my prep work a head of time and keep it in the outside fridge along with all my condiments.

I received a 22 inch Blackstone as a gift on June 21, 2024. While assembling the unit a problem arose. Due to a manufacturing defect the grill would not fit onto the grill body. I notified customer support on the same day. They requested pictures of the problem which I sent that day. FOR ALMOST TWO (2) WEEKS I HEARD NOTHING FROM BLACKSTONE CUSTOMER SUPPORT. THEN AFTER TWO WEEKS THEY WANTED MORE PICTURES!! I responded that they had all the pictures they needed and should quit the runaround and send me the part! Today is July 14th and still nothing from them! They have the WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT OF ANY COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH AND I AM IN MY 70s!!! If you have a cast iron cook top ALWAYS heat your griddle on low for about 10 minutes before actually cooking. Then if you need to turn up the heat you can. This will prevent warping and cracking of the cast iron cooking surface!

Do you all live in the south east? I’m up in WA state and it isn’t quite as friendly to cook outdoors during parts of the year! Love your tips!

It's definitely harder in the elements, but not impossible!

What kind of paper towels/towels do you guys use to season or reapply oil following cooks? I bought specific paper towels that people recommended that wouldn't burn away or leave residue. First swipe during seasoning scorched the paper towel and left debris behind. Lowered the heat and tried again and it just didn't matter. Very frustrating.

@ 4:30 My wife prefers to cook with a spatula and a scraper as opposed to two spatulas.
Need to find that Kraut Dog video.

We just purchased a 36" Blackstone griddle on July 4th (how American is that?!) and have enjoyed two delicious meals on it already. I watched your popcorn video and noticed a sliding metal cover for the grease drain. Where did you get that??

I read somewhere that heating things up in pans (tip #9) can cause the griddle surface to warp as the pans tend to pull more heat...so, don't need to worry about that after all?

Love the Phillies shirt. I love my Blackstone but unfortunately I bought mine when they changed the design to where the drip tray was moved to a channel uo front. Makes it hard to clean so I don't use it as much I like.

I’ve done the onion trick for years on my carbon cookware. Although I’ve always been told to use course salt along with onions. I honestly don’t know if the salt helps or hurts. Any ideas?

Hi. Question. On every Diner their grills are cleaned shiny grey. Blackstone you char it like a cast iron skillet. Why does blackstone takes this approach ??
    Love your videos!!!

Most commercial grill tops are stainless steel, not cast iron. I worked at a Wendy's through high school and WOW did we have to scrub and scrape that thing to make it shiny for the next day. A cast iron grill top like this should turn black when you "season" it and remain black.

I just got my blacktop for Christmas and when I say I am infatuated and in love but honestly I got a 22 inch and it's entirely too small for somebody like me that loves to cook every single day..
My birthday is in a month hopefully I can get somebody to buy me a 36-inch

The 22 is great I agree but bigger is better 😂 I just posted a new 36 inch model I’m obsessed with on my Instagram! I hope you get your 36 ❤
