My mother was a Hillbilly and never used Italian seasoning, Garlic, or Beef Broth in her Goulash. Onions, elbow Macaroni ,Tomatoes, Tomato juice, Bell Pepper, Salt, Black Pepper and a tea spoon of Chili powder. Fabulous every time. Served with mashed Potatoes and various slices of Breads. Dave good recipe & yes on us & the girls & another one we call a garbage plate & anything you have will work in this recipe , great way to use up leftovers , like the hillbilly name cause we eat about anything, lol , keep your stick on the ice.we are having an early cool fall as it has been in the low 40's at night into late morning, but I will take that over humidity
Hey Steve. Love the titiles. Keep coming up with them. I’m to the point of eating anything too. Hope all is well down there. It is getting cooler now. How is the new house. See you at the lodge.
@TheCooknShare thank you , but you are busy enough , lol, I hate moving , last time for me & I told my wife , but we are closer to the grandchildren , 10 minutes away to the girls & others
Here in California and Mom would make a terrific goulash, she would put canned spinach in it, and I hated spinach, but it was still great. How about trading tomato paste for the tomato soup? When you said it tasted a little sweet, that didn’t sound so good. I bet your homegrown canned tomatoes are wonderful though
I am from Maine and we made that but we called it American Chop Suey. I make it still and I make it with Stewed tomatoes Diced tomatoes tomato juice and V-8 Juice Onions Celery Red Peppers Green peppers Mushrooms Garlic and Italian seasoning and a little chili. I also make Home made bread and home made Garlic bread sometimes I would make northern corn bread and southern cornbread . If I know there will be kids eating I also make Honey cornbread. When I make it I make about 6 to 8 Gallons of it. I then freeze it and it taste just like I made it that day. I do pretty much the same with all the foods I cook. Mac and Cheese I cut them in to large portions to feed a person wrap them each and freeze them and it taste just like I made it that day. I use 7 different cheeses in my home made Mac and Cheese. I make enough to feed 50 people and I live alone. The reason I cook a lot is to save on the cost of cooking and time. For example. lets say it takes 45 minutes to cook a chicken breast at 350 F so almost an hour. now if you cook 12 of them for that same hour then freeze the left over chicken that is less time using the stove and less time cooking just pull it out of the freezer and heat it up.
This is very close to what like to make and i call it chili mac. I just change out the bell peppers for some mex style mildly hot peppers. And change out some chili seasonings. I love it. I’m hailing from north western NC.
Tried this, minus the black pepper and garlic… it’s fantastic!! Everyone in the family loved it. This is a rarity. Will definitely be making a huge batch of this and canning it. 😊
Agreed. Having Hungarian parents and eating the real thing growing up, this is not Goulash. It looks like Chef Boyardee’s Beefaroni, why not call it that? 😀
I'm from upstate New York. My dad would make this for us cuz, we came from a large family and it was a cheap meal. I always loved it. I haven't made it in years now I came across your recipe and I'm going to try it.♥️🇺🇲😘✌️
My mom used to make goulash and hers was tomatoes, macaroni and burger. Very bland and never cared for it. When I saw yours, I had to try it. Now I know what the fuss is about! Delicious!!! The only way it could be better is if someone else made it for me. 😂Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this recipe! I have been trying to make goulash like my mom always did but I just haven't been able to perfect it at all! Looking forward to trying yours!!!!
I love goulash. I bet I've tried 10 different recipes. This is by far my favorite. Love the addition of the tomato soup. Instead of noodles, I added mini cheese tortellini. It was so yummy.
Yep, as suspected, this was so delicious not to mention easy to make. Had to improvise and use bow-tie pasta but just added a bit more beef broth. Hubby and son loved it! Kudos to you 👏
Made this for lunch today and it was very good although a tad too sweet for my taste so i threw in a little chili powder to knock down the sweet from the mater soup. Thank you for the recipe and since you like the Campbell's mater soup, I've got one of their classic easy recipe mom used to make when we were kiddos, for chili cheese burgers (otherwise known as sloppy joes and tastes much better than manwich). 1 lb ground beef, browned and drained. 1 regular size can (not the oversize one) Campbell's mater soup Chili powder to taste (2 or so Tablespoons) 2 slices (give or take) American cheese Mix all ingredients, heat and serve on hamburger buns. Serve with fritos.
@@TheCooknShare it's actually an old Campbell's recipe they had on their can from I don't know when...guessing 70's give or take. Can't say if any other cheese would make it taste different but I avoid American cheese slices as much as possible even tho I'm American 😂🤪. Maybe a mild cheddar.
Thats the home cooking I remember & still cook this way,. I just nought my first cast iron double short handle frypan & I intend to use it for Home cooking like I remember. Making it today. It turned out amazing, Because I cant eat manufactured bag or boxed dried pasta cause it causes me so much inflammation, I bought Home Made Pasta "Tortellini for this" & it was just amazing. I used old cheddar & fresh grated Parmesan I made enough for 3 days. My Dad made something similar. he just called it Noodles & ground beef but essentially the same thing. Thats what most of us Canadians call it but its the same thing. I like the tomato soup addition as well, my dad never did this that I remember, He used canned tomatoes & tomato juice, So this cost me a total of $65 to make on account I bought the frypan. LOL
@@TheCooknShare I am eating it right now & OMG its so comforting even though I run the risk of body wide inflammation, I am so loving this cause this meal is a restricted food item due to the pasta & tomatoes but in this case the pain is worth it since I rarely do this now. I will deal with the consequence LATER :D
Good video! Grew up in Montana. Was in the Boy Scouts. At Scout Jamborees and Camporees, troops would invite another troop for dinner. Goulash was the common meal served for these invites.
@TheCooknShare house is nice , but only have a little over half our stuff out here so far , a lot of work. See you at the lodge pal
If I were there, I'd give you a hand. I know it takes time though.
@TheCooknShare thank you , but you are busy enough , lol, I hate moving , last time for me & I told my wife , but we are closer to the grandchildren , 10 minutes away to the girls & others
Not just for home, but a perfect camp dish.
For sure. I would love it done over the open fire.
That sounds good too. It was good. Yes, love the home tomatoes. Hope you try this one.
Yes, I've heard that. Thanks for all the great info. Sound like you love to cook Great stuff.
This is very close to what like to make and i call it chili mac. I just change out the bell peppers for some mex style mildly hot peppers. And change out some chili seasonings. I love it. I’m hailing from north western NC.
Yes, sounds great. Hope you enjoy. Love NC. I was down there a couple of years ago.
The meal looks delicious. And I have made it many times in different ways for family and friends. Thank you very much for sharing your recipes.
You're so welcome. So glad you are enjoying.
I'm glad he made the American Goulash there is an Hungarian Goulash which is more of a soup.
Yes, this one is so good.
Tried this, minus the black pepper and garlic… it’s fantastic!!
Everyone in the family loved it. This is a rarity. Will definitely be making a huge batch of this and canning it. 😊
Great. Love to hear that. Keep cooking and enjoying.
In New England, we call that American Chopped Suey. An absolute favorite of mine.
Oh really. That sounds good.
🏴 just made this. Easy step by step and great flavour. Thanks for a great recipe
So glad you enjoyed.
We call that American Chop Suey.
Who calls it that?
You always have the best music Dave.
Thanks so much. Great feedback.
Canned soup sodium top high. 😢 perhaps a 8 oz can tomato sauce. 😊
Sure you can do that if you like.
That really does look delish and oh so simple! Definitely going to try this out on my finicky grandkids!❤
Great. Hope everybody enjoys. Let me know.
as long as call it Goulag you are OK, otherwise I have to send the Goulash Police
Agreed. Having Hungarian parents and eating the real thing growing up, this is not Goulash. It looks like Chef Boyardee’s Beefaroni, why not call it that? 😀
That's sacrilege 😂😂,
Arent we past this crap ? Call it whatever you want. Sheesh !
Looks super yummy, will have to make this soon.
Hope you enjoy. Let me know.
My mom always made it this way,it was one of my favorites!!! Thank you ,Thank you !! Can't wait to try this

😂Thank you.
It is good and so simple. So glad you tried it.
Looks yummy definitely comfort food. It's cool here today . Think it would really be a great dish. Thanks!
It is really. Hope you try it and enjoy.
Looks amazing! You don't skimp on the bell peppers..... Much respect!
I appreciate that!
Another good one for the freeze dryer to make backpacking meals.
Yes indeed! Hope you try it.
Sounds great! Thanks for the comment. Keep cooking
Yep, as suspected, this was so delicious not to mention easy to make. Had to improvise and use bow-tie pasta but just added a bit more beef broth. Hubby and son loved it! Kudos to you 👏
Sounds great! Glad you enjoyed. Bow-tie is a great ida. Keep cooking.
Hey man just discovered your videos love the simple cheap recipes perfect for leftovers keep it up! 🎉
Thanks so much. Welcome to the channel. Hope you make and try many recipes.
1 regular size can (not the oversize one) Campbell's mater soup
Chili powder to taste (2 or so Tablespoons)
2 slices (give or take) American cheese
Mix all ingredients, heat and serve on hamburger buns. Serve with fritos.
Could have been. Good idea to cut back the sweetness. Love sloppy joes too. I'll try your recipe.
@@repentandturnfromsin Oh, I see. They did make some good ones.
Yummers....great fall dish during cold Rainey nights!
It is for sure. Hope you try it and enjoy.
Thanks for this great recipe 😊
I can't wait to try it!
My pleasure 😊 Sure hope you enjoy.
I love these kinds of recipes
Thanks. Hope you try it.
I've been making this since I was old enough to cook! Our family always called it Bum, and we still do...yummy!
Love the name. It's so good.
Looks so good, thank you, one of my favorites😊great recipe ❤
Thanks so much. Hope you try it and enjoy.

Oh really? It's beginning to get cold here as well.
Looks Amazing 😋
Definitely saving this one!
Thank you for share!
Great. Hope you enjoy.
I like the tomato soup addition as well, my dad never did this that I remember, He used canned tomatoes & tomato juice,
So this cost me a total of $65 to make on account I bought the frypan. LOL
Yes, you got that right. Love the cast iron. Hope you try this one.
Can't wait to try it!! Looks quick and easy too!
Hope you enjoy. Let me know.
Good video! Grew up in Montana. Was in the Boy Scouts. At Scout Jamborees and Camporees, troops would invite another troop for dinner. Goulash was the common meal served for these invites. Had a lot of different versions of Goulash...all were good. Goulash is good these days as a comfort meal on a cold day. Always enjoy trying a new version. Will give yours a try. Thanks for the video!
Yes, that would kind of fit. This was great. Hope you try it and enjoy.
My mother used to make this. She wasn't a hillbilly, but she's the only one I'd ever heard call it "goulash" until now.
That looks soooo good. :-)
My Grandma from SW Va made that for us growing up. Yours looks delish.
l look forward to making it.
Great. Hope you enjoy. Let me know.
