That's the only real reason why i like Apple. If you're going to buy something from them, it'll generally last you for a decade. Computers, phones, software, everything i ever bought from them is still fully functional, even when some of these things are nearly *twenty* years old. Hell, i still use a 1st gen iPod Nano from 2006 on a daily basis, and it still has full software support, even in the most recent MacOS versions (i only had to replace the battery, because of the whole "exploding" issue, and even then i did it just to be safe, because it was working perfectly fine).
Well, do we realy "buy" Logic? It's price is half the price the other DAWS in the same league, no, we buy the dongle to use it, and this dongle is a Mac 😁
Ive been using since 2009 LOL, Logic 8 back then. Go watch a video of specifically Logic 8, it's truly insane how much has been added for literal free since my initial purchase.
This update is lowkey better than the last one. I haven't touched the dumb AI musicians since it came out. Plugin search on the other hand will get used ALL the time.
the upgrade to the Software instruments in 11 was massive. the drums sound better and the guitar tones a significant improvement. I dont use the virtual drummer / bass / key players either, but I do put my own drums in on the piano roll.
Plugin search is huge for new users too - it will help a lot with getting people into Logic. It can really take a while to know where to find things and now it will be much more intuitive, and for those of us who do know where to find things it will be a good time saver for sure
Well it's a lot better because these are things the community has asked for for years. And lots of convenience things that make the software a better experience. Those prior updates are amazing tools, but since we didn't have that before it wasn't being missed.
Amazing. The plugin search I've been waiting for 20 years :) Now we just need Apple to make Logic take better advantage of multicore CPU's like on their new M4 Pro chip.
Man I waiting plugin search for 25 years. And now I'm absolutely happy because I moved from this apple bs app (emagic originally) to real world application - S1. The main problem - Logic developers don't make music in own Logics. I have not idea how to explain that Logic looks like toy versus Cubase or S1 in everyday using.
yeah this channel is GOATed for sure. no nonsense - popped up on my feed right after I got back from rehearsal. harder and harder to find good channels like this.
I know we all froth over whatever software we have but... Logic is so good. I started in Sonar, then PT then Logic. I tried Ableton, reaper, Acid, but nothing compares to the ease of logic and I'm not forever having to reach for my credit card. Love the search for plugin feature and the new reverb looks sweeeeeet!
Very true. I was kind if thinking about switching DAWs and started doing some research. Turns out I just didn't know Logic well enough and basically all the other ones lack crucial features that I thought were standard by now. Plus most other ones are pricier (without free updates) and have an ugly impractical UI. I'm a firm believer in Logic now.
I started on cubase then went to ableton but I’m making the jump to logic this year. I just hope they copy the browser window from ableton because I’m going to miss how easy that drag and drop system is for vsts / instruments and samples
Yeah you can get very creative with that kind of thing. Ive had an EH Freeze pedal for years, and some sounds you would never guess what the origin was. Really cool to see features like that being implemented
Arranging tracks in the mixer view is nice, it almost made me cry. However, to be fair, you could arrange mixer tracks with the same result before already, just from the tracks view, not from the mixer view. You were able to add aux channels to the mixer/arrange them by enabling the read mode, so that it becomes visible in the tracks view. Really cool features in this update though.
It's great that you can re-order the channels in the mixer. However, my long desired feature is that I want to be able to order my channels differently in the mixer and main project window. For example, the project window, I might want my lead vocal at the top and drums at the bottom but in the mixer I want drums on the left and vocals on the right. This might seem like a small thing but it would really help the way I think about about my arrangements and my mixing - which are very different processes. As far as I'm aware, Digital Performer is the only DAW that enables you to "de-couple" the mixer order from the arrangement order.
Fabulous summary. Oh wow - these are great changes - I love the new momentum Logic has across Mac and iPad (I use both). The track/bus rearrangement feature is a freaking revelation. OMG… I’ve been waiting forever for this.

I bought Logic a few months ago, and the inability to move aux channels in the mixer view was literally a deal breaker for me - it drove me nuts. I'm old school, I want my mixer view arranged a certain way, no matter what order I create tracks, and that functionality exists in every other serious DAW. And not being able to directly search for plugs in the channel strip would have been the second deal breaker! Happy to see they've both been fixed, now I can give this a serious tryout.
Really quick, clear and authoritative. Nice. Im always wary of installing an update until it's been out for a few weeks but in this case, given that I'm between major projects, I'm diving right in!
Logic for iPad is almost like Ableton Live. All we need is a Macro set up like how you can press B on the desktop and route anything to one knob. You can't do that on the iPad yet.
Thanks for this video!! This is a really huge update in terms of UX and user comfort and workflow optimization! I just wanted to switch to other DAW because of missing search and mess with channel ordering in mixer and sends. Thanks God I had no time for this) Now I wanna discover these new features on LPX!
Great update. I wish they would do something about the incredibly limited filter and LFO inside Logic's Sampler, it really cripples using Logic as an all-in-one DAW.
Can't you just use an external filter and or LFO - like soundtoys? Or use Kontakt - many options out there - and that "cripples" usage??? Not for me or the vast majority of users imho
@ because a filter or LFO after the instrument isn't the same thing as inside the instrument. Just about every sampler going back to the early 1990s has a filter per sample, Logic has a filter per entire instrument. You're saying why not use Kontakt? If that's the case why include Logic's Sampler in the first place? People who use samplers need the filter and modulation capabilities in the instrument design, per sample/zone is the norm and Logic's is a very peculiar design in that you can have 127 samples spread across the keyboard but they're all affected by the same LFO/filter. I didn't say Logic is crippled I said that using it as an all-in-one is because the rest of Logic is very capable and having to use Kontakt takes away from that, especially when half the industry is trying to ditch Kontakt.
Hey Chris! Have you ever done a deep dive on the very limited aaf function in logic? Would be great especially for us writing to visuals.. but this simple update it’s something we’ve all been waiting for
Great video Chris!! This update is just amazing! I name my vocal takes when Im recording, but since updated to Logic 11, when i finish naming a vocal take, it ALWAYS takes me back to the very beginning of the song. It's super annoying..... Anyone knows how to fix this? Or is this a bug?????
There's one update that was missed, and quite frankly, it's monumental. The ability to now zoom when nothing is selected around the pointer instead of zooming around the playhead. I love all the new features but I gotta say that is honestly the most important one for me. Zooming in logic with a trackpad makes things a little easier no doubt, but it was still a pain the way it was set up.

Why does already applied plugins need to load again to the chain after putting a new plugin into it? It’s so annoying. Is this because of the au load ? Any settings to fix this? It’s a workflow killer for me
It's be great if we could insert a plugin on the channel strip with out having to move all of the ones below it. Like if it would automatically move all the ones below it down.
I would hope "all cores" would be highlighted as new feature..IF...it was implemented. Reaper, Cubase and ProTools are only DAWs I know of to use all cores. Reaper is a steep learning curve, but worth it...imo.
I am NOT seeing any button to update Logic from my current 11.01 to 11.1- I have clicked on every icon everywhere. Anyone know why the biggest company in the world can't figure out how to program an icon?
You need macOS Sonoma* or newer to update to Logic 11.1. If your hardware can’t update to Sonoma* or newer, then you need a new Mac to make the update button appear. And THAT’S how they became the biggest company in the world lol.
Hey Chris was wondering if you could help with this work flow problem. Short cut for swapping between tracks view and mixer “X” that’s cool but when it is a split between both tracks and mixer I have to grab the cursor to slide the mixer back down or up depending on what I want to do, is there a shortcut to slide the mixer back up without manually dragging it back up ? Hope this makes sense I could just get two screens but not happening right now Cheers

Well i am new to this daw on iPad Pro and i am still learning, but it looks like i made the right choice
Still no split view in arranged window!
Wow thanks great video! If I hAD TO buy a new mac I would just to get the Quantec! I had lexicon and Eventide hardware units in the 90's and 2000's but never got the Quantec!
Amazing times we live in!
Thanks as always Chris!
Why does already applied plugins need to load again to the chain after putting a new plugin into it? It’s so annoying. Is this because of the au load ? Any settings to fix this? It’s a workflow killer for me
thank you dude!
It's be great if we could insert a plugin on the channel strip with out having to move all of the ones below it. Like if it would automatically move all the ones below it down.
wonder if its been optimized for M4 To use all the cores.???
Hope this makes sense
I could just get two screens but not happening right now
Cheers
I don’t know if you can help but I’m having 2 issues with logic 11.1.1 and Sonoma on an M1 Pro max . I updated cause I wanted the last version of Logic but :
- On drum machine samples and other Logic sample takes almost 3 minutes if you want to change a sound or load another one . For the same reason I suppose is not able to open for example the demo projects
- Logic doesn’t show anymore recent projects opened
All the rest and 3rd party plugin works fine , is strange logic have problems on its own samples and instruments
I hope someone can help me cause I cannot upgrade to Sequoia due to a lot of not working plugin still
AWESOME!!! Do you notice anything performance wise?
Is there a 8(any) bar jump for example where I can type in bar # 1 then type bar 32 in real play time?
I audibly gasped with joy with every single one of these 😂
Ohhh!!! Ahora Siiii!!! muchas gracias
Why no phase button?????
Because it apple. Hipsters dont need phase button.
I doubt they'll ever change that.
Have to insert a gain plug-in. More clicks but thats the way it is.
