Hey Chris, at 39:09 the new bounce feature is awesome! Bouncing Synths when wanting to use Midi was an extra pain, and this now solves it! But, a lot of times I want to perform a filter sweep, or some kind of pitch bend or modulation when bouncing to audio. The fact that it brings the volume down of the focus track and solos it, makes it not so fun or musical to do this kind of thing. Anyway to stop that behavior that you know of?
Everyone complaining about the virtual instruments doesnt see the workflow utility of it; pros can still use it as a temporary stand in to fill out other parts until youre ready to record the full thing. The chords from the chord track could be inserted as chords in the score. The base note of the chord could be used for transposition of patterns. (I never used)
Logic 11 gives the option of converting the existing Logic X track to MIDI or translating it into a new '11-style' Drummer track. However, note that the Drumkit will have changed to one of the revised kits for both the MIDI and Drummer tracks, so if there are 'tweaks' in the Logic X kit, they won't be retained in the new versions of the track. I recommend 'bipping' the Logic X Drummer track before opening in Logic 11.

Drummer Ghost Notes: I noticed that those 16th-note ghost notes (that “slow down” the groove of a straight-8th-notes beat) can be eliminated by turning Ghost Notes to zero (7:35). So many computer-generated drum patterns want to add those ghost notes for some reason. This control may not be brand new to Logic Pro 11 Drummer, but it is a good thing. It means overplaying Drummer-track drummers can be reined in (otherwise, you’d need to convert the track to MIDI and weed those 16th notes out manually.)

Can you put in chords in real time? Like if I'm playing with a midi controller, can I analyze and add the chords in tempo? Love that they've added in a chord track, this is super helpful for improvising in logic!

Great Video! Why did they not include multiple movies on a timeline in this update? As a media composer, I find it extremely frustrating that I can't load 2 or more movies on the timeline. Any help on this?
Me neither. It should be very easy for the programmers to put in algorithm for walking bass lines, so it is a disappointment. To have the bass session player in logic 11 play walking bass lines I: 1( Set it to "Manual Pattern" and jot in a rhythmically walking pattern. 2) Set the Melody to "More Notes" 3(Set Phrasing to "Long",4() Set Complexity to high, 5). Fill amount to 0.65 6) Fill complexity to 0.75. Readjust intensity and other parameters to taste for the particular section and chords.
These are all wonderful additions but none I'll use. Still not fixing basic functions (ie moving a channel in the mixer mode). Apple, please fix the basic functions before adding stuff no one asked for!
love this update. i do wish they had added a way to automate varispeed. guess the technology just isn't there yet. maybe they can make AI work on that instead of replacing jobs?
Chris, can you do an update: lets say I have a piano or bass part (midi or audio) and want to have the AI Session Players accompany the piano or bass or both. Is there a way to do it without having to put each chord in one by one?
Tons of bugs and very few useful features pertaining to external analog gear and what have you aside, as an Apple Engineering alum and NeXT alum I cannot figure out why Apple hasn't updated the ePub version for the Guide, Instruments and F/X Plugins yet.
My biggest problem is I spent $5200 on my MacBook Pro to have eight gigs of V ram, 8 TB of storage, 64 dram and they can’t use the feature. I really want.. I upgraded in 2019 to a very powerful iMac i9 (still runs like a powerhouse) and now they locking big features in one of the most used DAWs behind their own chipsets... this is super frustrating and makes me think about my next purchase.....
Great Video! Why did they not include multiple movies on a timeline in this update? As a media composer, I find it extremely frustrating that I can't load 2 or more movies on the timeline. Any help on this?
Routing Midi internally! FINALLLY!!!
Fr. This should be a no-brained in any daw
I didn’t see any “Walking” option in the Bass Player controls.
@@terje6522 thanks, I’ll give it a try
Thank you for sharing!!!
What are the Mac systen requirements for the new update . Will the updates all work with intel based Mac ?
Yes, but some features require Apple Silicon.
Thank you chris. Can we finally type search our plug ins in LP11?
37:34 how do you access lessons and the artists packs on screen like yours? Mine is very limited. Sorry, I’m a rookie lol
sick update
Most excellent Chris. Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks for this video!! I've heard that Logic Pro 11 will only work on M1 and higher processors. Is that true or not?
That’s for iPad not Mac I believe
Chris, can you do an update: lets say I have a piano or bass part (midi or audio) and want to have the AI Session Players accompany the piano or bass or both. Is there a way to do it without having to put each chord in one by one?
Tons of bugs and very few useful features pertaining to external analog gear and what have you aside, as an Apple Engineering alum and NeXT alum I cannot figure out why Apple hasn't updated the ePub version for the Guide, Instruments and F/X Plugins yet.
A lot of Toontrack and Cubase is now in Logic 🙂
Ok…waiting for this for a long long time . Time to pay for Live
Oh 12 is so sweet
Awesome Chris! Thanks for
My biggest problem is I spent $5200 on my MacBook Pro to have eight gigs of V ram, 8 TB of storage, 64 dram and they can’t use the feature. I really want.. That makes me see although I’ve been an Apple fan and I have 11 products from them and have been faithful for years, that I have to buy something new to get this technology. That’s not cool. I also have the iPad Pro 2020 and it doesn’t have the same feature the AI feature.
hey Chris. I don't usually get excited about compressors but this new compressor seems amazing. Are there any 3rd party ones that sound as good as this with getting results this fast?
Thank you for these very detailed explanations :-) Just a small question, at 28:01 of the vidéo I see, on the left, a "Browser" menu in what way you bring it up, svp ?
Ok, I understand... three quarters of the video is on the iPad version (sessions players, etc...) and the end only on the macOS version, very disturbing with the Logic wallpaper permanently ;-)
Chris! Thank you!
Wish they added the option of removing the bip it adds to the bounced files
Great video thank you! I have reported a small but annoying Logic Pro 11 bug to Apple. I regularly use Markers. The cycle range does not align to the marker selected when pressing command+U. Have you noticed that? Thank you.
Chris, you always do a great job, thx 👍
Thanks. It's great timing since I have to buy a new Mac set up.
Currently, Jesse is drumming for me, poor guy doesn't know of his demise.
Logic ROCKS! Thanks Chris!
nice! thx 4 review!!
Thanks Chris 👍
Does Logic Pro 2 support 7.1.4 output over MacBook Pro HDMI or is that an OS limitation? I want to mix Atmos into a 7.2.4 Anthem receiver and theatre but was running up against a lot of Mac hardware limitations.
Thank you soo much. Can you do a classical music video overview? Does it have produce to itunes plugin? This is gonna change america got talent. I just feel it.
No jazz or swing or bossa nova or more traditional styles?
No. But you can adjust the parameters to get some useful styles generated. Bossa Nova certainly. I've tried various jazz swing, medium tempo and ballads.
Ur videos always make me open up a new session, thx u!
Hi Chris, great update from WLPR!! BTW, do you know if plugin/ track search is possible with this new version?
Can Logic "punch in" audio (while playing along) and have it loop record? Every time I try... it stops recording on the next loop. Thanks
