he's alive and well and living in garageband!
@@kevinturvey8213 🤪
R.I.P. Kyle and the other LPX drummers. You will be missed
Is Darcy still around??
@@NateTheMehthey’re all still there, just no more names, just styles.
@@mrufino1 fire, the actual functional improvements to it are incredible, it basically is what I dreamed of years ago.
😂
It was good to identify who they were obviously referring to (John Bonham, Travis Barker, etc.) and which style. But it sounded a bit "toyish" and unprofessional at the same time.
As a bassist, I feel very secure after seeing this 😁
I play keys, and I feel the same, lol.
I play guitar and I’m just loving it - until the next update, let’s face it we’re all toast in the shadow of the all knowing AI. The only thing saving us is our well timed signature mistakes 😂
Still not as good as real live bass/drums. In my opinion AI will actually bring more opportunities for live musicians. Let’s say a guy records his demo with session bassist and now wants to hire a bass player for his live gig. Right?
@@frwisshow has AI existing affected that scenario? That person would have needed to hire a session bassist either way?
@@frwiss he uses backing tracks like every other band band today.
If you don't use backing tracks in 2024, it would be like playing in the NFL or NBA without taking steroids. You'll always be behind the curve.
Everyone complaining about the virtual instruments doesnt see the workflow utility of it; pros can still use it as a temporary stand in to fill out other parts until youre ready to record the full thing. Been doing that with the drummer for years: lay down something simple while i track to help give me the feel/groove and stay on beat, then when its ready to map drums or record them, do it then.
I agree, and great for creating stand-in tracks whilst composing. I’ve been using Drummer like this for years, I am excited to see how the other session players can be utilized.
The keyboard parts are so generic 😂. Useless. Just write good parts
Agreed, the weakest of the trio.
I made a full EP last weekend while noodling with it, and changed all the sounds and it sounds really good. Now waiting for the Rhymer to do his parts. It's a good experiment.
Apple STILL won’t update the mixer so we can simply move channels around. Maybe in another 10 years…
Such a simple thing. I hate it.
You can move channels around, just have to do a work around by adding everything to the tracks window and moving things there….pia but doable….do a search
Gotta love his interjections like “that’s awesome”.
Just the video was looking for. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. I would love to see a video of you covering the new electronic drummer patterns and features.
Best explanation and walkthrough of Logic Pro 11 on the internet so far, Chris. Thanks so much! Benjamin
A Big Thank You Chris! I really appreciate all the hard work you do, to make using Logic easier for us.
Hey Chris! Thank you very much for your teaching!
Just tried the Stem Splitter and it’s freaking awesome
It sounds pretty bad in the example in the video, tho. Even Chris doesn't say "it sounds awesome" - which are words he usually isn't shy to use.
It's grayed out and won't let me use it for some reason but oh well it's all good
@@DocKaosBeats If I'm not mistaken it is a feature only available for computers with M1's and above...maybe thats why?
@@_DanielGarcia Oh wow thanks for letting me know I'm over here doing everything to try and get it to work 😅
It's pretty bad by modern MSS standards. I do AI Stem Separation for a living and wouldn't use it, i'd say it sounds like a basic/old demucs 4-stem model comparable to where the MSS industry was 2-3 years ago, things have moved on quite a lot.
Chris you're the goat. Thank you for the rundown, because this is insane!
great job chris!!! excellent walk thru!!!
Excellent run through of logic's new features. Explained "Session player instruments" very well.
Thank you, Chris…. A fantastic overview of the new and exciting updates.
Most excellent Chris. Thank you 🙏🏻
I’m glad because you seem look happy with new logic pro, which hadn’t made major updaete for a long time and given you new material.
Omg Chord track is awesome, workflow goes rocket with this ❤❤❤
Yeah, I've been waiting for it ever since I started using Logic!
I literally spent 10 minutes creating a down and dirty backing track with bass and keyboards and drums and I have to say - it sounds really good! I love the direction they're going here.
Chris, you always do a great job, thx 👍
As usual a great presentation Chris but all this 'band in a box' stuff saddens me. It is amazingly clever but in years to come will anyone know how to play a real instrument or understand music theory? Or how to do the sound design stuff that ChromaGlow does at a flick of a mouse? That said I will no doubt update to Logic 11 just for the Chord bar and streamlined external instrument routing!
Logic ROCKS! Thanks Chris!
Awesome Chris! Thanks for
Great info on this update. Thank you! "It goes to eleven."
Chris! Thank you!
nice! thx 4 review!!
Thanks Chris !
As a guitarist - this is a dream! Especially the drummer update that fixes everything I always wanted!
Whoa! Great job showing us all the goods under the hood, Chris! I appreciate it big time. Thank you!
Great Update and great video...💯
Damn. Can9t wait tomget this and play. Looks like there’s a lot of stuff to understand!
Thanks Chris 👍
Thanks!
Good gravy what an update
What I was waiting for: Displaying bus labels instead of 'Bus1', 'Bus2'... Drag and drop channels in the mixer. Select colors for full tracks. Plugin Search. Plugins in the library to the left. Improved plugin versions ... lot of ideas and basic improvements, maybe Logic Pro 12.
I think you can already label the bus sends, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a WLPR video on it. The others are great ideas
@@ErnestoComposer Yes, you can label the bus sends but globally, same labels for all songs, there's a configuration option to do it. In other DAWs you can label with a simple double click as you wish in every song.
Get PlugSearch 4. It now’s allows you to save I/O label templates. Game changer!!
MIDI LFOs not just on instrument tracks, and MIDI routing not just to instrument tracks…
Yes once again a garbage update helping the non musician, instead of fixing the clunky editing side of logic ,very poor these days , it’s getting left behind Logic Pro, thank god I left
ChromaGlow as a parallel processing send is gonna be incredible
It's what we've wanted for so long, a saturation plugin. It looks good, looking forward to trying it.
chroma glow bypass is insane! that's definitely $$$ saved from previous plugins
Ur videos always make me open up a new session, thx u!
Thanks Chris - as always very good presentation. Was wondering if any of the new AI features are limited to Apple silicon on the Mac.
Hi Chris. I have followed your channel for years and years and am an absolute fan of what you do. If I have to find out how to do anything in Logic you are always my first port of call. However in this video you didn't mention that if you have an intel mac a lot of these features don't work. I watched the video with growing excitement and couldn't wait to upgrade and use the fantastic things you'd highlighted it was only when I went to look at the upgrade that another blogger mentioned the intel mac issue. It would have been good if you had said this at the start of the video. I am, always and will still be a fan of what you do and appreciate the time and effort you put in:-) It may be worthwhile an update to your video for all of the intel users. Take care Phil
Thanks a lot Mac Demarco
WOW !!! That's Crazy !!!
Rest in power Kyle!
Hi Chris, great update from WLPR!! BTW, do you know if plugin/ track search is possible with this new version?
sick update
10 years, major release, and this is all we got, I have never been more disappointed, they could fix so many things,,, but thanks for the fast video update :)
WTF? Look at all the updates we've had, some truly massive shit along the way. This really is a major release, a huge step up. What are the competitors doing? They're relying on folk using third party plugins!
Like what? What do you want fixed? Why are you complaining about a totally free update?
Agreed
@@notdeluded6235 a lot of things within logic still kind of rely on third party plugins. Plugin browser? Better Sample library? modern looking synths? (ES2 IS very capable, but we live in 2024 now not the late 90s). Good update just there's a lot more important things they could address first
@@pavvel9884it’s not totally free. You paid for it once upon a time. Apple has pivoted their computers from the music, art, design and architectural uses in lieu of a new direction: targeting yummy mommies who’ll pay $ for an new Mac Studio pro and 8k monitor, on which they can edit photos of their precious little darlings. To conform to this new direction. LPX has been pimped out with gimmicks to appeal to the non musician. They’ve even said so themselves. Take a look at the annual report. LPX is being v game-afield for these reasons
This was wonderful for a newbie to the Logic Pro 11. thanks. I am a songwriter and have better knowledge of music theory than skill at playing an instrument. this will help me immensely at putting my songs to music.
Thank you chris. Can we finally type search our plug ins in LP11?
Bangin’
The "Bypass Below" feature, That's Nice... !
I am truly happy that Logic Pro 11 is finally here
Thanks for teh video. Do we know if the ARA situation has been resolved? i.e. do we still have to be in Rosetta mode to use Melodyne etc
hey Chris. I don't usually get excited about compressors but this new compressor seems amazing. Are there any 3rd party ones that sound as good as this with getting results this fast?
Can you put in chords in real time? Like if I'm playing with a midi controller, can I analyze and add the chords in tempo? Love that they've added in a chord track, this is super helpful for improvising in logic!
So far the update seems cool. I don’t see myself using the keyboard or bass session players, but I’ve loved Logic drummer for writing since i started using Logic.
Yes, there are things that could be different, but I still feel most comfortable working in Logic these days.
Me too. Did you notice any difference in the quality of the drums or the same?
The drums themselves are the same, but it looks like they may have been mixed differently (which of course can be changed). I was playing around with the retro rock producer kit this afternoon to see what they did. It was interesting to see how the stock plugins were used in a way I don’t usually approach drums. Chromaglow definitely is used on the drum presets now.
The only thing i changed was using little labs ibp on each producer kit channel to do some phase adjusting, and there was an improvement to my ears. Subtle, but definitely an improvement.
Key board session player is great tho. But love ya insight bro
Routing Midi internally! FINALLLY!!!
Ok…waiting for this for a long long time . Time to pay for Live
Oh 12 is so sweet
Great stuff, but what about a Guitar Session module? I play piano and keys, not a lick of guitar. I'm sure I'm not the only keyboard player out there.
Fab shirt, bruh 👊🏻😎✌🏻
Hi Chris, awesome video! Thank you! In minute 37 you talked about new project menu and other features, I can't see that menu options, or courses, etc, how can I have same view as you?thanks
After however many years, we finally get logic pro 11 and there isnt a single new feature that excites me
I’m not opposed to ethical AI or generative functions, but it really feels like they went so hard on it that this hardly feels like a major update to me. Especially considering the 10.X updates we’d been getting recently. I’d really like to see some move love to Live Loops personally. It needs some love to be up to speed with Live and Bitwig.
28:00 you can also have session instruments follow the chords in any MIDI instrument you program.
Hi thanks for the video ! But ChromaGlow and Stem splitter not available on Intel mac...
Having used Cubase chord track feature, Logic's seems like it wasnt well thought out. I mean, in Cubase it can analyze a track. Weird that they have all these AI features and can't even have the chord track auto analyze audio. Anyway, its a free update.
This
Logic has had a chord track before and I used it all the time, but it disappeared, now a long time ago. It could also be filled automatically based upon analysis (not very good, still useful start(. The chords from the chord track could be inserted as chords in the score. The base note of the chord could be used for transposition of patterns. (I never used)
Great video, can you play the new drummer with an e-drum like Roland?
Thanks. It's great timing since I have to buy a new Mac set up.
Currently, Jesse is drumming for me, poor guy doesn't know of his demise.
IM LOSING MY MIND WITH EVERY POINT YOURE TALKING ABOUT. This Chromaglow is INSANE.
@whylogicprorules - do you notice an upgrade in audio quality with the Logic drummer kits or basically the same? Are there any improvements in terms of panning different elements of the kit?
..hello Chris, is it possible to extract chords form an audio song in logic 11 like cubase and st1??? regards
Thanks Chris. Confused about Chromaglow. Is it not available for iMacs? I can't find it in my plugins.
Great but curious as to what prior sessions will sound like, hopefully old sounds are retained for old projects that are revisited.
Was a just thinking the same thing…. I am almost afraid to open a prior completed project.
So can I use this live? Like if I want an arranger to play back up music it can do that? If I’m a solo player?
Does,it,allow,time signature changes mid-song?
Holy F. This is amazing!!!!
Thanks so much Chris for the great intro. I hope the naming clarity of Logic Pro "Eleven" means an end to clueless Logic Pro "Ten" experts mistakenly referring to their software as Logic Pro "Ex"! 🤮
Hi Chris, do you know if we still have producer kits?
Great Video! Why did they not include multiple movies on a timeline in this update? As a media composer, I find it extremely frustrating that I can't load 2 or more movies on the timeline. Any help on this?
Does Logic Pro 2 support 7.1.4 output over MacBook Pro HDMI or is that an OS limitation? I want to mix Atmos into a 7.2.4 Anthem receiver and theatre but was running up against a lot of Mac hardware limitations.
Great video thank you! I have reported a small but annoying Logic Pro 11 bug to Apple. I regularly use Markers. The cycle range does not align to the marker selected when pressing command+U. Have you noticed that? Thank you.
37:34 how do you access lessons and the artists packs on screen like yours? Mine is very limited. Sorry, I’m a rookie lol
Just installed, said it was updated 1 hour ago, but only when I searched for it in the app store, just so you all know (unless they're staggering it per region)
Same here. Checked it several times during the day. Last time more or less an hour ago and t wasn't there. Now it is :)
Is the
session bass playable from an external midi controller in all articulations mode?
Is there a way to use your own drums and bass sounds while using Drummer or the Bass sessions?
As a guitarist and composer I’m really looking forward to expand my songs with the session players. But I do have a full band where we can play it all live, if some of my songs make it into our set. We’re already using click tracks and some backing tracks. I did love drummer in Logic 10 but the custom pattern control feels like how I wanted that extra control which I never succeeded to get with follow track.
is this going to be the same experinece on an iPad ( let's say the latest ones) ?
I am also missing the ones on the top above the region. Can I share a screen shot here?
36:00 that's pretty crazy
Hi Chris and all, Help required with Session Drummer / Keyboard etc - Manual Tab, Manual Pattern Copy and Paste from 1st pattern to an empty second pattern I can't seem to get to work. Any help would be massively appreciated.. Rgds, David
Awsome
Chris, can you do an update: lets say I have a piano or bass part (midi or audio) and want to have the AI Session Players accompany the piano or bass or both. Is there a way to do it without having to put each chord in one by one?
It sounds like ChromaGlow could replace the Kramer Tape plugin (Waves) but has the addition of HP/LP filters. Maybe use ChromaGlow then put an eq (FabFilter Pro Q 3 or stock EQ) after it for fine tuning the bands? That could be an incredible combo.
my bruther its just a saturater plugin nothing special
Does plug search still function fine with it?
These are all wonderful additions but none I'll use. Still not fixing basic functions (ie moving a channel in the mixer mode). Apple, please fix the basic functions before adding stuff no one asked for!
How do you get that startup screen with the Learn and Explore, Featured Sound Packs, etc?... Mine looks completely different
stem splitter is actually huge
Thank you soo much. Can you do a classical music video overview? Does it have produce to itunes plugin? This is gonna change america got talent. I just feel it.
Forget Logic, where did you get that awesome shirt?
Chris, do you know if the new internal MIDI in option can be configured to work with multi-channel MIDI FX plugins, like many of the third-party sequencers ad pattern generators? For example, Audiomodern makes a generator called Riffer, which can play 4 different, independent riffs simultaneously. I would to route these separate riffs to separate tracks/instruments in Logic Pro. There are also Euclidean sequencers like HY-RPE2 that can be configured to be multi-channel, routing each of its 8 lanes to independent tracks. The current workaround to make this work in Logic Pro is a giant pain in the butt, and requires you to keep all routed tracks in record-enabled mode.
Yes, you can pick up one „Internal MIDI“ source on multiple tracks, each of which set to a different MIDI In channel.
ARA Support?
Searching Plugins?
Better flex algorithms?
Moving track in the Mixer?
Updated browser?
Parallel processing like Ableton?
Grouping plugins and saving them as presets?
Apple DO NOT Listen.
We got shitty AI features that will be usable for children, a saturation plugin that we have 100 of and a stem splitter that we can find online for free.
0% Attention to the professional users = Time to switch.
Agree 100%
I agree. Not worth upgrading to me. The AI players are kind of a joke, especially the pianist. It's getting a little bit embarrassing to be honest. It's starting to look like a playskool DAW, and definitely not a professional grade tool.
