Man, loved the undo history trick. Thank you !!!
For the Mid / Side EQ:
-> Load up dual mono version of stock EQ
-> Click three dots next to L / R
-> Switch the Stereo mode to Mid / Side
Now you have Mid /Side EQ in one plugin instance.
Save as default for dual mono EQ :)
OMG. These tips are AMAZING! Thanks.
This are fantastic tips. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for all of these! "Play from last locate position" I've been wanting for a long long time. Sometimes it seems to do it on its own. Mostly I used the Marquis tool like I've seen in ProTools but this is much better! 👍
Yeah well done great info - thanks loved the autoselect automation parameter option !
Great tips Colin. One capability I found recently I find very useful particularly with midi regions created from audio is being able to easily make all the notes in the region the same velocity. When Logic creates midi regions from flex pitch analysed audio the velocity of the notes is often all over the place. In edit mode on the midi region one can simply select all the notes and holding down Option Shift move the Velocity slider to the desired velocity to make all the notes that velocity.
You can quantize the level of the relationship of note strength as well to keep a degree of variability
Thanks for this! Great reminders! 🙏
I have to say the one thing PT still has is the ability to multitrack edit in external editors. Ex. I can send 2+ channels to iZotope RX or Melodyne for simultaneous processing. It’s pretty phenomenal, especially when you have phase-locked multimic recordings. Super helpful for film audio work as well. I canNOT wait for the day Logic gets this. I’d never have to go to PT again. PT still also has a much better audio waveform view. But you’re right, I’ve had to go to PT less and less over the years and now I just pay for a month here and there whenever I need it.
WOW!! Thanks!!
Colin this was great. I shifted from Gband to Logic with your encouragement about 18 months ago and I have been getting comfortable with it and whanging out some projects I'm happy with that are out there streaming. At least 5 of these tips are new to me and will be saved into my favourites along with a few other vids from you. I just got vocalign recently with your encouragement too so double double doubetime! Cheers Tim P.s hope the studio build is going well
Thanks for all of these helpful tricks!
My mixes have gotten better thanks to your videos. You helped me get a different perception to music production. 💯
Thanks man!
Hi Colin. Just wanted to say a big thank you for your Logic Pro videos. They’re really top-notch!
Excellent video. Playing from a region is great! Thanks
Little hacks like these make a huge difference in terms of increasing productivity, efficiency, and workflow. Thanks for the tips, bro!
Try looking at setting the right mouse button to a third tool. Settings General, Editing. I normally set this to the scissors tool. If I want to cut something, its a right click on the mouse.
Very Helpful - My favorite tip was Option+Change Region Length implements Time Compression
Thanks a lot, Colin. New things again from you. The tool for comping the backing vocals is game changing. I knew it once, but then forgot it. Also these undo things were something I did not know.
I’m only on tip 1 and you’ve already saved a year of my life
Fantastic tips! 😊
This video has some truly great quality of life tips. Been at it for a few years and through tip #9, I found out you could also undo plugin changes! So useful
The fast automation edit select was amazing
Summing Stacks..... perfect! I have a template with 10 piano sounds I like to choose from and this allows me to group them and collapse them to make the view cleaner.
Undo Volume and Pan Changes and Project Alternatives are gonna be very helpful for streamlining my workflow. I was using save-as and labeling my songs with Mix 1, Mix 2, etc... Also, it was a headache trying to go back and change automation, but now I can use the Undo History feature. This was a good video for me. Thanks and I appreciate your help.
Very helpful. Appreciate it. For some reason, I always seem to forget to Save Alternatives. Ugh!
Hi Colin, these workflow tips are really great. I immediately started messing around with the EQ options (centre, sides etc) and got thrilled by the results. Results soon to be published in tbgc….
All these tips are very helpful and not so obvious even for the "seasoned" user.Thanx a lot,Man!
The automation tip will help.
Great tips buddy - never knew about the volume option to undo! Cheers
Very, very good and helpful for me. Almost all of them. Thanks a lot. 💪🏻👏🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great stuff Colin. I think project alternatives is going to be a new normal as my mix sessions improve. What what I would like to see is more of the building a song from the ground up. The different ways to build a song that has a mood or presence.
Great job...keep it up!
Great Tips!👍🏾🎼✨️😊
All the tips were great, but oh boy, #9 and #10 were my favorites!!!
So helpful 🤘🏼
Wow! That Project Alternatives looks like something very useful!
Nice tips! Thanks
thank you for your videos man
amazing tips!!!
Shift+Spacebar! - What a timesaver!
You just saved me a lot of headache with the tip number 5. Thank you!
And tip number 9! (I’m new to Logic)
Absolutely helpful, thanks a lot!
Great tips. Thanks a lot.
just supped to your channel,I need all the tricks..long time Studio one user (since2012). thank you so much🤗
Great video. Thank you
Hey, thanks for the great video! I’ve been learning how to make songs with your GarageBand tutorial where you made an entire song and showed us the entire process. Do you think you can do something similar with Logic or Protools and give an in depth tutorial with those DAWs as well? I think I would love to learn with another series. As always, thanks for what you do. You’re a great teacher and I love the videos.
Wonderful... have you made a video on mid/side EQing in Logic?
Awsome! Thre thombs up!
great video
"Undo history parameters" really need to be in Settings/General/Editing so it can be set as a static Logic Pref. Then you can inhibit it if you don't want it, as opposed to the inverse.
Awesome thanks
Thank you 🙏🏾 😊
Thanks!
thanks!
Hey I have a quick question regarding something heard the other day and wanted to ask you since your in expert in this. I heard that it is better to export your midi information to wav files before mixing your song. Can you maybe explain why that is or maybe even show us how it's done? Thank you!
Than you !!!!Great
Has Logic fixed the delay compensation for automation?
For the longest time, the automation would be written behind the moves with a delay based on the buffer settings. Very difficult to automate a big session with buffers at 512 or 1024 because the automation moves would not be in time.
#6 👍

❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
i actually fear logic - there seems to be nothing it can't do, and would probably take a lifetime to fully get to grips with...(and then they'd update it!)
Easy curve for the meat and potatoes of it. That’s why I gravitated towards it while in school for audio. Protools is clunky as hell to learn at least. I see no reason to go back, ever.
😮
I love your tips! Learned a lot from you. I see this vid came out 1 day ago? Dude. The song you still fucking use is starting to make me feel like I am swimming in Hell. You are seriously still working on this song? There are like ONE BILLION SONGS. Change it up for the love of god. I literally can’t come here anymore. And use chapters. Its 2025. You told mento downvote twice……… the song is good! Its just after this span of time hearing the DAW stop-and-goes is……
it's 2025, please put chapters in your videos.
Just click "ask" then summarize.
(It IS 2025, you know.)
🤷🏼♂️
Dude be happy the video was posted.
Be happy he’s helping you. Rude idiot
Please slow down : ) Your vids are so helpful but you speak as though you're in a race.: (
Thanks!
