I'm so speechless right now and absolutely honored. Thank you so much Marty!! I'm so happy you enjoyed my cover! You're a legend!! I'm forever grateful!
Great job Mariah!
@@powerslave88 thank you so much!!
@@powerslave88 your train of consequences cover was badass!!!
You should take Martys advice and remake the song and post it for him to see :) you've obviously got the "hardware" just download the software. Good luck !
@@darthvader1515 thank you!!
They should have placed Kiko's version of tornado of soul
LOL
XD
He'd be like, "Come on, man! Downstroke! Du du du du du du-"
dang they missed the opportunity
I been playing that solo daily marty does it best nothing against knew blood
- Marty I'm broke, but I'd really like some guitar lessons. How can I pay you, apart from with money?
- 1:22
- Oh...
LADWAC worth it?
That's fucking hilarious, dude!!! XD
lololololololool!! I'm fuckin' dead. XD
I was actually looking for a funny comment relating to dadadada 😂😂😂
That way. 😎
1:14 The irony in being told to perform more downstrokes by Marty Friedman ain’t lost on me😂
wdym
Guys, come on, put links to the cover videos in the description. They deserve the exposure.
No Tornado of souls ? really this channel sucks!
Seriously...no tornado of souls on a Marty Reacts to guitar video... @@steveo9683
Can't ask that much to Metalsucks. These guys are the definition of lazy and mediocre.
The Train of Consequences one is me!
And the whiteworm cover was made by me :D
I feel sooo honoured!!!
Thank you Marty! 😍😍😍
AlexVinchenzo Nice job killing the subtlety, asshole.
@@Mustafa-ou8qs Im sorry
Very nicely done, Katarzyna
@@AlexVinchenzo what the fuck?
jakieś polskie akcenty wow 😁💪
I achieved a dream. Thank you so much, Marty, and thank you so much, Metal sucks. It's a great honor for me to receive that words from my favourite guitar player.
@Cory Trevorson Thank you very much! Your words makes me feel very pleased!! Greets! :)
Yer I bet, good for you mate.
Awesome job brother!
A compliment from Marty is like being kissed by God.
Your a awesome guitarist keep up the great work and keep on shredding!!!
Fantastic!!! So friggin' jealous! Keep up the GREAT work!!!
"thank you so much,Metal sucks"
Man, it'd be so intimidating to be under Marty's scrutiny. The man does not mince words and I think if you haven't built up your callouses for criticism, it could be very devastating to hear him critique your covers but, honestly, that's just who Marty is. He's all about the music and he is genuine and encouraging, but will always tell you what he thinks could have been better because he sees music as one of those fields where you can always continue to improve and that's a big part of why I admire this man.
Marty is a nice guy hed say practice more dave would say dont quit your day job lol
I've never seen Marty be harsh on the fans. Playing for heroes is an amazing opportunity. It was heart rending watching Nita Strauss break down when she realized that she was going to play Perpetual Burn for Jason Becker...
@@russellzauner It's all up to interpretation. Weaker hearts would definitely feel cut down by his critiques, but as I said, they come from a place of encouraging improvement, not trying to actually tear anyone down. They're harsh in the bluntness they're portrayed, but certainly not in regards to intent.
Are you his mother?
I had the pleasure of attending a guitar clinic with Marty late in 2019 in Leichhardt NSW Australia. He was the nicest most humble guy you could ever meet. Answered everyone’s questions (including mine) and just appeared to love talking about guitar. He is not only a metal legend but a super nice guy as well.
Marty giving a great advice. Do not overcomplicate things.
I actually think that Marty undercomplicates his solos. Same goes for Kiko, when you see them playing it looks so easy.
Ariel Werle Thats the whole point. Most amateur guitar players do it wrong. Professionals are way more efficient.
@Brad Młodystach xd
All the guitar players that i saw looking video covers of his song say the same thing
We didnt get to see him critique anyone doing Tornado of Souls :'(
That’s because from what I’ve seen they all play atleast some of it wrong...
Should have had Kiko’s upload
Kiko plays it really wrong in the end
assgoblin0764 pretty sure he can play it right no problem, just likes to put his own touch to it. Marty is still my favorite, but Kiko’s work in Angra is some of the best modern metal in my opinion.
Brandon is crazy good!
A guy playing awesomely, 20 notes per second perfecly, intense feeling and harmony: "meh, not bad". A girl playing Em D G on an acoustic guitar: "damn, that was one of the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life" (almost in tears). LOL
cuz it aint about the wank
That's why guitar is more about feel and emotion than complexity. All the people who worry about shredding as fast as possible just sound like noise.
Sectric no its about chicks bro get it right
He is simping
@@TheSectric So Marty sounds like noise bc all he does is shred. He's a shredder IMO. His music centers around fast ascending/descending lines. Just because they're short doesn't mean it isn't shredding.
Always liked Marty, but after seeing this, I like him a lot more. He is very generous, and has no fear of others talents. Sadly many guitarists don't have this ability to see past their own ego. Good on ya Marty. ^-^
and he looks at his old works with such irony
Indeed
"Sounds like something out of an exercise book." Marty describes neo-classical in a nut-shell. :)
Yeah no soul just technique
Step 1. Learn drills
Step 2. ????
Step 3. Profit!
Step 4. Sued by Yngwie for plagiarism.
@@omarsharif927jason becker's altitudes is also neoclassical and it has so much soul
5:11 dude even angles his wrist 800 degrees just like Marty
Should have included Bradley Halls backwards Tornado of souls.
"I'm into girls playing guitar." You're not the only one Marty ;)
I'm into girls doing most anything.
@@chuckclickenger1162 true that!
Martys into asian girls why he lives in japan my hero
Yes omg nothing is hotter than a girl playing guitar.
@@ferevon girl playing drums is hotter....lol
That is a HUGE compliment when Marty Friedman gives you a "Fuck Yeah!"
Enough guitar talking. Tell us the brand of your shampoo, please.
He used to use Wen. Not sure if he still does.
Shampoo metal
Djentpoo shampoo. I used it too. My hair can djent now.
People went bald from Wen. The bloated dude from Went got sued. Lol
your comment made my day dude lol
Symphony of Destruction solo is one of the epic top 5 in metal. Phenomenal phrazing, killer vibrato and bends that defy gravity! Fucking amazing! Marty is a true virtuoso!!!!!
"This guys touches, is the shit." Dude I would be so fuckin' stoked, man. That's gotta feel good.
Haha yep still puts a smile on my face! Mad to think one of my hero’s has actually watched a vid of mine haha! Hope you enjoyed too!
It is just nice as hell to see someone so talented and accomplished as Marty, say EXACTLY the right words to every vid. You dont see this every day folks. A guitarist who loves others abilities. A rare trait amongst musicians.
Those last words in this video really came from his heart. Dammm how can someone not like this guy.
I remember listening to sweating bullets .. Marty and Dave played so well together. Tracks like Tornado, Psycotron and Polaris are gold! And lets not forget Holy Wars
When he says "Metal sucks!", he's not acting at all! 😁
Right joking but not joking he still loves it but variety the spice of life
@Aiden Macleod True.
@Aiden Macleod true it was just a gig for him which ironically is what made all those solos so amazing.we need more jazz players doing metal solos!
Actually he enjoyed playing metal too.
@@fidacuca not really dude. Look up interviews with him after he left MegadetH. He said every album was basically the same old shit.
5:15 was one of the cleanest and deceptively challenging parts I've ever heard. wow well done
Love Marty’s enthusiasm as he watches these videos . Hats off to all the players awesome job !
Marty, I think you are the nicest, most down to earth guy in metal. When you said "and I hope you surpass that" it just shows you care about each person's own experience with music and you are very humble. Huge fan :)
When senpai finally notices you
lol, everyone of these:
"I don't think this person gets me at all. I'm not this lame, and my real playing is so much more nuanced and special. Anyways, I really like this fan."
Had to be said lmaooo 🙏
Marty is so cool and down to earth. I love this guy
I love his support towards us girl guitarists 💕🤘🏻 made my day 💕
Marty seems to be like a really down to earth human being, yet his playing is something out of this earth. I remember when I first got my R.I.P. I was like WOW! I've never heard a guitar sound like this before. There's this devotion to music in his playing that not many guitar players have. Glad to see the master motivating future players.
Show him the Tornado of Souls cover by David Escobar. It's gonna blow him away(pun intended!).
Yes, David's cover is by far the most accurate on UA-cam and it still doesn't get the views it deserves.
She is unbelievable.
I just listened to it for the first time, very good! dude nailed it 100% check mine out sometime, i did one a couple years ago!
Was thinking the same!
When Marty Friedman says "hell yeah, 10 out of 10" to your playing you know you've made it
Very humble and kind of Mr. Friedman to encourage new players.
Getting a hell yeah from Marty... Wow
Not really my style of music (anymore), but man, Marty seems like such a nice and positive guy!
What a good soul you have Mr. Friedman, hats off to you as a great guitarist and human being!
My former band had a similar moment many years ago when Dave Mustain reviewed our CD, nothing better in the world than knowing one of your influences enjoyed your work.
Anyone here remember listening to Rust In Peace for the first time back in 1990? I remember listening to it on a cassette my younger brother lent me, playing on a boombox while doing my calculus homework... I got an A+.
Same experience here but with Countdown to extinction
Did anyone notice that Marty's actually smoking, he's on fire even when he's not playing, got's to love the guy.
the innocence in marty's comments and his honesty. his expression, happy seeing people playing his songs .... a god has descended... thanks marty .... just so you know, my 2 year old son's lullaby is your INTRODUCTION album in a loop, i did that since he was a baby ...
Hey Marty!! I used to play Scenes when I was in the barracks, needing some comfort that brought my mind home...thank you so much for using your gifts and bringing a TON of cool music in to the world!! YOU ROCK!!!
I like how real Marty is. He gives credit where credit is due, but has no problem giving solid criticism.
dave justo is marty lowkey playing his own stuff on youtube
haha :p
It's really refreshing to see how positive he is in his comments and criticisms. Totally seems like a humble, chill, fun dude. :)
I'm pretty sure this feedback from Marty is 10000x more for the musicians making the covers than just hearing him go "great stuff"
I like that Marty was honest in this video and actually put forth some criticism. I think a lot of others would have just thrown out empty praise as to avoid hurting feelings. The thing is, you learn nothing from empty praise.
Had the pleasure of watching him do a guitar clinic in Melbourne and met him after the show. Super down to earth dude. I love the way he holds his picking hand in a way that hardly mutes notes. He doesn't hide behind palm muting and it shows the crispness and accuracy of his lead notes. Unbelievable guitarist.
Haha no way! Thanks Marty!
Marty is a class act.
I met Marty in 1991. Our band was opening one show for Megadeth in Daytona Beach. They were playing a large dance club. When they finished their sound check, Marty was getting a seltzer at the bar. I mentioned to him that the guitar solo he did warming up was great. He just said "UGGGHHH" and turned and walked away. LOL. Ok, not too bad compared to how Dave treated everyone. But I get it. I think that was the sober tour. He seems like a really nice grounded person. Lots of guitarists I know would rip all these people to shreds.
Hail to the Bangladeshi kid! Proud bro! 😊
Would have been funny seem him react to a video of Chris Broderick covering one of his solos hahaha
Anyone else noticed the smoke behind Marty Friedman? That’s not Marty Friedman...this is the spirit of Marty Friedman
My Lord .. Marty is a genuinely great inspiration .. Instead of trying to find fault in other's playing , He finds the greatness in their playing . Lifting someone up is so much easier than pushing someone down .. I am willing to bet the players that he complimented .. Are now charged .. I see why Marty Friedman and Jason Becker are friends .. They inspire and are humble ..
mute and skip to 1:14 , that's me home alone when everybody goes to the groceries shop
Oh come on xD I'm dying here
His weird picking hand motion makes a lot more sense now.
Had to scroll TOO GODDAMN MUCH to finally see someone refering 1:14 in the comments... :P
My hand looks gimpy like that too when I use my left hand to jerk off
😂😂😂😂😂
thanks for having Marty
Marty is the king of melodies! I love his songs!
yeah u influence me dude. sooo much. especially when I started playing with the countdown to and rust i.p. album solos. thanks so much fr ur music..
a fan..
Marty is just such a pure and kindheartes person, it just makes me smile
Marty is my greatest inspiration as far as guitarists go. Rust in peace was the soundtrack of my very early childhood thanks to my parents. You're awesome Marty.
Coolest guy ever! Really encouraging comments!
Loving Forbidden City! I miss that stuff so much.
I think as a human being and living my life and having grown up with Megadeth and Metalica at the forefront of my musical journey I took to Megadeth a little more than any other band just because of the hard lyrics and the bad ass guitar solos and I always thought proudky of Menza and the beat that he had to keep ya know but as I grew older and my own thought progression happened the music changed as well and it was almost in harmony with my own life ya know so as I watched these guys perforn I too was a changing and that I think as a fan was sooooo fucking special to me and Megadeth carried me through alot of shit and now to be older I can sit and relate to my exoerince based tgrough their potrayal man and I think as a fan thats the biggest slap on the back that I could possibly give these guys man ...Bravo!!!
Marty you are very humble and awesome to see your influence on these brilliant young players. Dude I remember when I was 18 or 19 and seen you when you first joined Megadeth. It’s was in 89 or 90 but it was at the Metroplex in Atlanta which was a fairly small dark dank underground club where skinheads, punks, and metal heads came to see their favorite bands of the day and you were bad ass then my friend as you are now. Then it was like the next year you guys were opening up for Dio on a major arena tour and I seen you guys again but in the Omni arena in Atlanta. Our seats were so far from the stage unlike at the Metroplex where we was right up under yall and the stage was only like waist high on us kids and man you guys was right in our faces. Man those were the days.
Your mentality is what i love so much about you marty. You are a phenomenal guitarist but yet so humble. Your amazing.
Marty seems really cool. Ive watched lots of vids from Rock Fujiyama to all kinds of other clips with him and ive always got a good vibe from Marty.
Thank you for supporting your fans, you are awesome and you did so much for the electric guitar.
What a great and humble mentor !
🤘😆🤘
We need more stuff like this, this is just epic
Love his passion.
That is amazing about the connected world. Really cool Marty !
Totally agree with Marty on women playing guitar. I love seeing ladies playing and shredding. They bring an extra element to playing that it’s hard to explain. I love Marty’s positive and encouraging comments on the guitarist in this video.
Not only he's an extraordinary guitar player but he seems to be such a nice guy ... he never seems to say anything bad or mean about anybody
His tip of playing a few notes of a chord and stacking them to make them clear in distortion is genius
I like how he actually has criticisms rather than just sucking off all the fans like everyone else
Timeless aesthetic guitars hanging on the wall in the background. Take note of what is good kids and buy the right thing when you are young......
"The fingering is completely different from the way I would do it." Best line ever.
You are the nicest person in rock n roll and outside of music , and you were Megadeth's best lead guitar player ever.
I fuckin love Marty he's the GOAT
Kind of a bummer that they don't give credit in the description, it would be nice to visit these guys on youtube...
Thanks for your consideration with covers people. I have mine in this channel I'm using.
:)
I agree with Jose, thank you so much - and congrats to you also Jose, great vid! The Train of Consequences one is from my channel!
Yep, two of them are in the comment section though.
Howard Stern is such a great player and cool dude!
What a gracious and humble dude. Super cool.
Love your kick ass solos from MEGADETH. My heart broke when you were not with MEGADETH also when Nick past away 🤘
Marty does not age at all.
For me it's the hair, after all these years it's still awesome!
RIGHT?! I mean what's in the water Marty? I was thinking the same - had to check the date, thinking it was a video from back in the 90's! :)
I never thought Marty would watch people play his stuff for some reason.what a cool guy😉
Megadeth was my 1st ever concert!! It was C.O.C opening up the Megadeth at the tower theater (philly) way back in either 94 or 95
I love Polirythm song...is so amazing construction like he said
If Marty said 10 out of 10 for one of my guitar playing videos i know i can die a happy man.
every word that comes out of marty is nothing but the truth. i have never seen a more genuine artist. i hope people get what i mean. he minces no words.
Marty best musician/guitarist to me...hes amazing! He loves playing out of the box melody..which is super unique, when he watched speed metal symphony cover by fans he was embarrased, coz to him the song structure is very "Daily finger arpeggios exercise thing" 😆
As usual, Master Marty Friedman is a real gentleman and a cool guy with lads and pupils! Excellent review!
I really enjoyed this video and your comments & feelings about the music & playing
Contrats to all guitarists featured!! you did it great. I enjoyed it very much. In case there´s a second compilation, I suggest to include Alexandra Zerner
I kept expecting her to show up.
Can't wait to see you on Feb 6th! Thanks Marty!
Thank you Marty for your music contribution , you really made an influence to my choise of music , and because of your amazing solos i started listening Megadeth as well
Weird is a nice way of saying wrong. Lol. Love Marty such a nice guy
I like how Marty has real compliments.... and Smiles.
