@@flatbrokegarage if bad quality is the problem you should call them out on the internet and see if the attention gets them to reimburse you for your loss and labor.
Thanks so much! Still trying to figure the UA-cam thing out and editing. Hell I still have trouble programming the microwave clock 😆 but thanks for watching!
Never done a cam break ,, never had a cam failure,,,my engine's road driven to work and back raced every weekend 90 to 100 thousand miles,,, Castrol GTX 10 W 30 sbc ,,Erson camshaft 296 284 split profile and those miles was Interstate miles,,,😎
Sh__ happens man. I know it sucks but just have a couple beers , sit around and think about it then start taking it apart and figure out what happen. I’ll be interested to see what you find . Thanks for posting
Just started pulling it down tonight before dinner. Going to get back at it tomorrow. Hopping it's just a lifter, but guessing it's a cam. I'll post it up when I get it apart
Thanks cuz, I'll get her going. Not sure on faith of her for a 1500 mile run right out of the box, but we will see. If nor I'll get that o'l yeller going for the tour
@@rickykey1175 thanks man, it's like this car is cursed. Even simple things are just going south. I'm still hoping it's just a lifter, but deep down inside I know it's the cam
Don't blame yourself, and you just joined an ever-expanding club of guys getting junk lifters. I put three cams in my son's car last summer. The first two failed during the break in period. I did everything right, and I've been an ASE master tech for over 30 years. I have installed hundreds of cams. The third cam only survived because I was able to find a set of NOS lifters sitting on a shelf at a small privately owned parts store. These were made before the import of thousands of junk Chinese lifters. If you have a Comp Cam set up, toss it in the garbage before you even open the box. Those lifters collapsed on me during the initial adjustment. I changed them for another set, and they failed five minutes into the break in. My buddy had his cam fail on the break in too, and it was a Comp Cam. I also had an Edelbrock cam fail. The problem is the imported lifters that most, if not all cam manufactures are using now. Good luck!
Someone else just told me that about the lifters. Maybe just the one collapsed? That would be better news I guess. I'm having a Cleveland built now. Going roller after all of this BS
@@flatbrokegarage the lifter thing is damn near an epidemic. I've heard from Harleys to cars having issues. And supposedly most flat taopets are built in like 3 factories and they are sending out junk.
Thanks man, yeah I'll get it. I've just been fighting this one. If it's not ready I have that yellow pickup I can always finish and roll on the power tour
Hi Bill, I’m interested to see what you find. Been there. Keep movin 👍🏻
Thanks! Hope toget it apart tomorrow
hey man keep keeping on.
Thanks! Yep got her back on the road. Just kinda frustrating sometimes
I look forward to seeing what you find and if it's crappy parts then you should call out the parts suppliers for their crap!
For sure, a lot of guys have mentioned that there is a run of bad lifters out there

That's cool, just the luck of the draw I guess. Next engine I have done will be a roller for sure. No more flat tappet cams for me

Go solid roller and ftw...
My first guess wouldn't be lifter failure. I saw a few issues that could have been a problem. But no need to run it in. Good luck on the next one.
Thanks, I'm pulling it down tomorrow
