You might think this song is great on a first listen, but you wait till you've heard it 300 times and still hear new little surprises that you'd never noticed before :D
Very common in Prog Music.
Know exactly what you mean. Have listened to it maybe 40 times and find new things all the time. Like a neverending treasure chest.
Dude you could say that about every opeth song, for sure 🤟😁
I've been listening to it since 2007.. year after year after year...i still find something new to discover even now...
Harlequin Forest. Same record...another masterpiece
Yes harlequin forest plzzzzz
The live version at The Royal Albert Hall
the grand conjuration.. another masterpiece.. same record.
Must do
@@jesseguzik114 along with The Baying of The Hounds. Opeth has multiple masterpieces in these albums.
Opeth: Harlequin Forest, Bleak or Burden.
Demon of The fall, the moor, the leper affinity, the drapery falls
Drapery falls, When, Reverie/Harlequin Forest
Live Version
@@Celatra Add When to the list
Bleak is my favourite Opeth song. It's a masterpiece.
Opeth can sound so evil one minute and then transition into some of the most beautiful melodies you’ve ever heard. So good!
This reaction transported me to the time I listened to Ghost Reveries for the first time in my life. Ghost of Perdition, in my opinion, is one, if not the best, prog metal song of the decade. It's flawless. The composition is complex, layered, dynamic and the flow of it is absolutely immaculate. It is emotional, it has a pathos that only Opeth can conjure and the lyrics are one of the darkest Opeth has ever written.
Perfectly stated
They're based in my hometown Stockholm. So I run in to them at times and I can tell you that the members in Opeth are really humble and always nice to speak to.Decent guys and incredible musicians.
Man, I can’t be more jealous in my life than reading this
The Moor is a masterpiece from Opeth, highly recommend
I agree, for me it's the best song.
What a way to start an album 🤘🏻
Still life tells a great history
Love this album
i love still life a lot, and the story behind it!
it is one of the greatest concept albums i've ever heard!
i can say all songs of the album are good, but i prefer "face of melinda", and "benighted", cuz i have a great memories with them ❤
Dude, y'all have no idea what wonders Opeth has in store. Gotta react to "Black Rose Immortal", "Demon of the Fall", "Master's Apprentices", "The Moor", "Deliverance"...I could keep going...
Glad to see someone else appreciating Black Rose Immortal, especially considering the hate it gets from Mikael himself :(
The Amen Corner also
The grand conjuring is also a masterpiece, honestly there is too many to mention as with gojira.. Its endless
YES!! Opeth fans are always recommending the same songs all over every music reaction channel. It'd be nice if someone reacted to White Cluster or Nectar, for example.
@@theofitzgerald8396 the grand conjuration gets really repetitive. It's alright as the closing track , followed by Isolation Years, but it can't hold its own ground.
That's Mikael Åkerfeldt, the vocalist, one of their two guitarists, primary songwriter/lyricist and one of the if not the best Growls/clean vocals in metal. All songs will leave you awestruck but imo for y'all next on the list should be
Deliverance
Bleak
Reverie/Harlequin Forest
Baying of the Hounds
Serenity Painted Death
Heir Apparent
For only clean vocals/their softer side
Burden
Windowpane
Yup there's your list right there
Love seeing Heir Apparent among these titans.
Heir Apparent is absolutely filthy
Mikael is the shit
This is THE list
Deliverance is one of their classics, The Moor, Hessian Peel, Reverie/Harlequin Forest, and every fucking song because they are all amazing... but start with those ones... I Highly recommend Deliverance and the Moor next...
DELIVERANCE!!!!! amazing stuff
Definitely the moor for sure.
Yeah dude Deliverance cut does just that. "Devil guides the way" section, mixed in with the lengthy end's groove. F yeah.
I will Always prefer Wreath over Deliverance
Harlequin Forrest
I agree
Agree..
Agree
That’s a big yepper
Opeth's Deliverance is in my top 10 songs of all time. I LIVE for that outro, man. One of the best outros there is!
I recommend Deliverance next!!
This!
It's a long song so be ready =)
To put it simply, this is the best reaction video I've ever seen in my life, I was dancing along to every riff and singing while I watched. This is the first song in Ghost Reveries (2005), you should do the one right after it next: The Baying of the Hounds. Same vibe! Loved this!
Yeah man. After hearing the greatest opening track an album has ever offered to be followed with the greatest track you've ever heard. Left hook, right hook, knockout!
It’s nice to see that Ghost Reveries ended up being so well appreciated by fans
These guys are wholesome
Watch it live , so much better
The thing I love about opeth is that they put more effort and creativity in to one song than most bands put into a whole career..!!!
Harlequin Forest has everything you can expect from Opeth (growls, clean vocals, acoustic guitars, riffs and THAT ending). A truly masterpiece.
Harlequin Forest ending was a failed effort to replicate the majesty of the Deliverance ending.
@@BonzoDrummerhow is Harlequin Forest a failed attempt at anything? Why do you need to put Opeth's songs against each other, kind of pointless. Opeth has made countless masterpieces and should be cherished as such, instead of comparing them.
@@theuniversewithin74 The outro is, to an experienced Opeth listener, a very obvious reference or tribute to the Deliverance outro, but one that just sounds too try-hard and ultimately fails to live up to the original.
@@BonzoDrummer So I'm not an "experienced Opeth listener"?? I wouldn't even consider these outroes to be related, other than the unique time signatures. What's the point of putting them up against each other? Why can't you just enjoy them separately for the masterpieces they are? Maybe it's you who are too nostalgic making your perception of the first song taint the other one. Deliverance and HF are two vastly different songs and the outroes are very different. I highly doubt Åkerfeldt has ever said the HF outro was an attempt at Deliverance. Going by your logic we could do this for every Opeth song and compare sections and rate them. Some songs are better than others, but I simply think it's your biased view that keep you from enjoying HF fully.
@@theuniversewithin74 Apparently you're not, no.
I mean, it's gotta be Deliverance next. The outro is the greatest thing Opeth have ever done, one of the best riffs in metal history!
as hard as it is for even me to believe, I honestly think they have surpassed their own greatest outro on Deliverance with the outro on "All things shall pass".
@@jayhood1973 Ill have a listen mate
advent live in the royal albert hall has a bazillion amazing riffs all concentrated into one song, they really are good at riffing!
Oh man... How much i wish to be able to listen to this for the first time again.
Yeah, the vocalist/guitarrist/composer, Michael Akerfeldt is pretty much the original "sings like an angel, screams like the devil" person. Hes a big Tatiana's (Jinjer) influence. I think Courtney's (Spiritbox) too.
The whole "Watershed" Album from start to finish is amazing! As well as "Blackwater Park"! "Damnation" is an amazing acoustic album from start to finish too! lol
for real, a Watershed full album marathon would be soooo sick!
A full album listen through for any Opeth album would be such an awesome idea!
Watershed is an amazing album as a whole! one of my absolute favorite albums of all time
Always great to see love for Watershed, definitely in my top three Opeth albums.
I hear the whispers of an Opeth marathon.
HESSIAN PEEL next my friends!
After that, Opeth and Mikael Akerfeldt shall make you sleep with that sweet sweet...
HOPE LEAVES
Peace and love
Years later, this is still my favorite Opeth reaction
Opeth - The Grand Conjuration 🤘
da da dum, da da dum, dadadu da da dum, da da dum, dadadu da da dum, da da dum, dadada dum dum NYOW NYOWW
@@kumquatmagoo looool
Lmao I can actually hear that.
Every opeth song is a masterpiece
Opeth - Heir apparent
Facts ! 🤟
It really was
This is without a doubt my favorite reaction video of all time now, and i've watched a lot of them. It transported me back to a time and place of having the same experience, like no other reaction i've seen. thanks yall, gonna watch this again now! Oh yea, and definitely do Deliverance next.
Thank you Brian 😊 what an amazing and transcending song this is. I can’t listen to it enough!
Seriously guys- OPETH- BAYING OF THE HOUNDS. Your welcome!
Yesss More Opeth
Folklore - Opeth!! An underrated song from an underrated album
Same about apostle of triumph
Guys please try The Moor, Moonlapse Vertigo or Serenity Painted Death
yeah something from Still Life
Basically every still life song is a masterpiece
Or better yet, do the whole album as it’s a concept album and the flow of the story will not be sufficient enough with one song
I've been listening to this band for about 15 years and have heard all of the songs you have reviewed 100s of times. But watching your reactions is like hearing them for the first time. Love seeing the joy! Amazing.
How Mikael say when start to play the song live : DE-LI-VE-RANCE
OMGGGGG THAT OUTRO IN DELIVERENCE🤘🤘💥
: )
*[long pause]* "Yeah, I think this is one of the greatest bands ever." 😂 You are so right! 🤘🏻
I gotta suggest 'Harlequin Forest'. If this reaction is any indicator, you guys'll love it.
Socratic Matt the live from RAH?
Cool technician Studio. Unless they’ve done it already and I missed it.
@@cooltechnician seriously one of the greatest videos and songs ever!
Dude you should definitely react to " The face of Melinda" by OPETH
Masterpiece
My only concern during this reaction was that she was going to get an errant arm to the face. Seeing the joy on your faces at discovering these songs is a treasure.
Opeth is one of the best metal bands..... EVER!!!!!!!
Welcome to Opeth... I'm going to rewatch this video... Loved the reaction!!
He’s name is Mikael Akerfeldt he’s one of the funniest nerdy guys ever! He’s peak growl guttural voice is unmatched,, he’s cleans are unreal!! I really recommend “Bleak” live from the roundhouse tapes brutal vocals with beautiful cleans!!!
That concert is amazing!!! And Bleak is one of my favorites too!!
Only problem with this song: it's too short 😂
💯 agreed 🤘
They got fucking flutes!!?? Haha! Love this reaction guys. Opeth is absolutely amazing. Their newer material is different but also excellent.
Drapery Falls, Moonlapse Vertigo, When, Face of Melinda, The Amen Corner, Demon of the Fall, are all great songs
Martin Lopez (drummer) is amazing. Love his style he leaves so many subtle nuggets through out.
What I like about this channel is every song reaction is killer. There’s always different genres to find here and all the songs of each genre are dam good. There isn’t a bad song reaction on this channel period. This may be my favorite of them all to be honest. This track blew me away 🤘🏽
❤ that moment you realize Mikael's clean vocals are as beautiful as his growls are brutal.
This is my favorite song of Opeth, and I fucking envy you guys that you had the chance to listen to it for the first time! I listen to this song over and over again and I envy anybody who can hear this song for the first time and discover it for the first time.
Excellent reaction video guys 🤘🏻
Deliverance!!!
Zero dislikes, the way it should be. Opeth is fucking amazing.
Oh Man!!! I was so excited for you to react to more Opeth!!! My Favorite Band!!! Your reactions says it all! Takes me back to 2005 when I first heard this album!!!
Mikael Åkerfeldt is the singer and one of the guitar players. The man is an absolute monster!
Loved the reaction, please do some more Opeth! Maybe Demon of the fall or Harlequin Forest next.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your heads explode - can't wait to re-discover Opeth with you! I recommend Grand Conjuration, Bleak, Drapery Galls
@1:37 hahahahahaha
This was the first Opeth song I ever heard and had the EXACT same reaction except I was in my car and thought I had gotten into an accident. Sooo much material in this 1 song that they could easily make 3 out of it. They are on the apex of metal for sure.
lol!!
Welcome aboard the Opeth train
😂 @ 1:37 totally shook me
DELIVERANCEEEEEEE
When things get back to normalish, you gotta see these guys live. They've absolutely killed it every time I've seen them!
That was great. So awesome to watch you guys get your minds blown by Opeth! Deliverance seems like the logical choice for the next one.
This is my first listen too an entire Opeth song and I'm kinda speechless, holy shit...thats is some tool song writing Dreamtheater Mashup epic shit....Instant fan, but hey that doesn't mean i have forgotten to keep busting your asses about Gojira-Pray live at red rocks extended version🤘
Right? This song is just 🤯... oh and hey- We hear ya on GOJIRA, it’s right around the corner 😁
@@enitaly 🤘🙏
Baying Of The Hounds is the follow up song from the same record (the whole record is solid btw), other than that you'll probably want to go with Harlequin Forest or Masters Apprentices. Same era and mix of vocals. For mostly clean vocals Hex Omega are the one! Tasteful, heavy and progressive.
Great channel you got going here btw! Cheers!
Awesome reaction guys!! Love the channel!
A list of great Opeth songs to react next:
Demon of the fall
Deliverance
Harlequin forest (live at the royal Albert hall)
The moor
Heir apparent
Those are all masterpieces, really
Add The Leper Affinity to that please
@@PHLCoffeeSnob honestly we could add so much songs to that list haha but you are right!
You should do either Deliverance or Reverie / Harlequin Forest next! Great vid btw, been looking forward to this one.
Now do Coil+Heir Apparent altogether off of the Watershed Album. For the vocals (both clean and dirty), you will not be dissapointed
I knew I wasn't the only one who counted that is one track haha
Agreed
Should always be listened together, great suggestion!
It may be too much for a reaction video, but linking "The Lotus Eater", and Burden, is a great combo too!
The Grand Conjuration is the song that introduced me to Opeth. Highly recommend it! It's on the same album.
There's only a couple of times in life that you come across a band that changes everything in your music world. Opeth is one of those bands....while out on a run in the fall of 2018 this song came up on Pandora "Slayer Radio" and I literally stopped running to see what song I was listening to. It's been a great journey since then.....great reaction! Looking forward to watching you two continue your Opeth journey!
Man!!!!!
I don't wanna sound cringy but...
I have been watching your reactions for a long time now, since the beginning of the channel almost, and I always loved the way you guys enjoy and perceive music, and I identify a lot with it!! Watching you react to my favorite band ever, and saying that it is one of the greatest bands, brings tears to my eyes.
Thales Campos Right on man thanks! 🤘
8:00 the power of music my dudes! Absolutely loved this reaction part! I was headbanging along with you.
🤘
Deliverance! Best metal song ever! Outro Is pure gold...
Love Opeth and your reaction too! My favorite band so far! Another band that have a HUGE impact in fact of the atmosphere and feels are AGALLOCH, try to check "In the shadow of our pale companion" by them, they are absolutly good! Greetings fron Italy 👌😘💯
Im 35 year old man and now Im gonna admit a couple of things here and now. This reaction video really made an impression on me, just watching you guys in this completely different setting, both of you far away in your own cosmos - this song is a true fucking masterpiece, right?! From the middle part and my tears exploded and started to flow down my lap, like ALOT, this was a totally different experience from all the other videos on this song. I love watching you do TOOL songs too, its epic! Sharing is caring 🤘👀🤘
Right on man love it 🤘
Have you ever tried out listening to the Norwegian band Satyricon? If not, then you definately should
The only way forward now is hearing Deliverance 💯
Fuck yes man. They ARE the greatest band ever. Check out Harlequin Forest, Serenity painted death or the Moor
Harlequin Forest live at the Royal Albert Hall is a great video because you also get an insight into the bands personality(also as a side note Hours of Wealth and Deliverance are amazing too!)
Opeth usually garners this type of reaction, but yalls enthusiasm is through the roof. Yall earned a new subscriber .
I was having a really shitty day, but seeing you guys rocking out to this masterpiece of a song brought me joy, lightness and a big smile on the face. Thank you
Awesome reaction!!!
This song is like watching a horror movie.
I had this in my head watching the movie Hereditary.
Opeth will take you on a journey.
Thanks!
Cool to see you guys going in on this band. Opeth have huge talent.
The most wonderful part for me was experiencing this pure joy as you reintroduced me to an old classic.
I'd love to see "Deliverance" or "The Leper Affinity" next.
LOVE this reaction. It made me feel like I was listening to this masterpiece for the first time, so thank you so much for that! Please do Deliverance and Harlequin Forest next.
Harlequin Forest!!!
The fact that a lot of Opeth songs are like this is why they're incredible.
Also lead singer is Mikael Akerfeldt.
Please again do the DELIVERANCE OPETH reaction 100 % worth it
Hey man awesome reaction!!! If you can check out the live version from the Red Rocks Amphitheathre in your own time you won't regreat it! It blew my mind!! I was supposed to see them live last may here in Costa Rica but they postpone the show for next year, hope you can watch them live too! Keep rocking 🤘
Hands down best reaction I ever saw to this song!🤘
Deliverance would logically be next. Completes the big 3 alongside BWP and Ghost of Perdition. Brutal riffs and amazing clean vocals. Anything from the Still Life album would be great too. I’d recommend Serenity Painted Death.
I recommend going for Reverie/Harlequin Forest
next since it's one of their best songs hands down.
Welcome to Opeth! They really are this fucking incredible. I have to recommend next the tracks: Bleak, Serenity Painted Death, The Moor, Deliverance, By the Pain I See In Others, Beneath the Mire, and Harlequin Forest. Live they're also amazing, but it might be better to listen to the studio versions first just to appreciate how good they are live.
Also, I recommend checking out Animals As Leaders soon! They're instrumental but heavy as fuck. Try Tempting Time, The Woven Web, Backpfeifengesicht, Ectogenesis
You guys are just amazing. Love watching your reactions over and over again. Hope you react to Deliverence next from Opeth. Think you'll both enjoy it.
Thank you 😊 looking forward in going down the rabbit hole with Opeth 🤘
i love how yall close your eyes on the pretty parts. have to close those eyes to appreciate it
Harlequin Forest next
Really enjoying your journey into Opeth. Please consider doing "The Drapery Falls" (studio version), and "Harlequin Forest" (Live at the Royal Albert Hall).
Opeth - Deliverance!
Are you ready for another Opeth song? I have seen Opeth 7 times and LITERALLY bumped into the entire band on the sidewalk when they were going to a Pub before they did the concert!!! Opeth has been a HUGE influence on my band's style of playing! Especially my style of playing drums or bass guitar when I am playing those instruments. Mikael's vocal timbre in both clean and growling is the BEST in all of metal! His guitar playing is second to none...lol
I am so jealous. I wish I could hear my first Opeth song ever again, or my second even ;) Thanks to you guys for rekindling the flame. Tracks like these are like epic dark fairytales, a journey indeed. They are the master of transition.
Love ur reaction man. Opeth is always epic! 🤘 I would recommend Heir Apparent or Lotus Eater. They're heaviest songs! 🤘🤘
Dylan, next song has to be one of the following, you choose : Harlequin Forest, Bleak, The Drapery Falls.
Edit: Please don't make us wait another month for another Opeth song. Opeth is officially the focal point of this channel for a while
Bleak!!!!!
Agreed!
Harlequin Forest at the Royal Albert Hall ofcourse \m/
@@eEmptywordSs First the studio version, then the live version. There are a lot of detalis that the live verion does not have, even though the audio engeneering and mixing is perfect in that live
Must agree with you buddy i just wanted them to see THE BAND :) and yes this performance is underrated
@@UndeadSasuke34
Mikael Akerfeldt is one of the best creative minds and performing talents of this generation. It's amazing what he comes up with in the studio and how well he translates it to the stage. The rest of the band is also incredible, but the lead singer and guitarist definitely steals the show here.
This is how i expect my friends to react to Opeth when i show it to them 😂 awesome stuff!
Mikael is a fantastic singer managing all ends of the spectrum.
Mikael voice was pure brilliance. Seeing him live in his prime was magical because he does it with suck ease. You have to did into the old Opeth. Windowpane, bleak two of my favorites
2:46 that might be may favorite reaction i'v ever seen . . . . . nice
I knew you love the shit out of this! Best reaction ever! More Opeth please !
Finally! nice reaction :) please do Deliverance next! the outro is one of the best of all time change my mind, and Hessian Peel too
~Opeth~Life changing...Great reaction, many blessing~
Bleak!!!!!
The transitions in this song are incredible, it all flows so smoothly. Between parts that sound very different from one another.
I keep coming back to Opeth. Their diversity is incredible.
