She entirely skimmed over her relationship with her mother. Perhaps it's such a complicated, painful aspect that it's an other conversation entirely. To 'go there' would be such a huge tangent that the core of THIS important conversation would have been dominated by the foul fruit that is dealing with a mother who is an appalling, also tragically flawed human being. That being said, I would have really valued hearing more detail about the chronology of her mother's role in her life and so forth.

@@kingmaafa120 we are 💔 not just on this issue but on childhood abuse in general. My abusive stepfather was a x-dresser, had several felonies for DV, yet he had a very high-level government clearance (typically impossible) and when my mom finally left him, he made out that she was insane and he took custody of my siblings.
She and I were belittled in court for months, lived homeless for years, I finally had to leave her and go across the country to live with my dad, but she wouldn’t leave my half-siblings, even though she only had supervised custody because of his lies and because she couldn’t appear presentable while homeless.
My mom was a software engineer when she met him.
She’s broken forever; my grandmother died of grief; our entire family destroyed.
I try to maintain faith and a decent life but I’m all alone too and definitely haven’t reached my potential, have had all sorts of wild life struggles despite being a straight-A student and getting my university degrees, once I ran to the end of my educational structures I had no support or concept of how to live. Every time I get my head above water something absurd and devastating happens. Have definitely encountered abuse in partners… I leave straight away but it always involves a big financial setback and it triggering, so now I’m in my 30s and don’t date anymore. Haven’t been able to advance my career or make a family of my own.
Meanwhile he lives in a mansion on the beach with his fourth wife and her young child, wealthy and seemingly happy 🤷🏼‍♀️
It turned me away from God for a long time because the injustice was so all-consuming and destabilizing, but then I had to turn back toward God or else I would have checked out a long time ago. ❤
Love to all survivors… some days you can block it very successfully as she describes so aptly, or even process it as “I can get through anything if I got through X, Y, and Z”… but to what end? It’s deeply lonely and I haven’t found stable people to fill those gaps for me yet.
You do your best but you can’t usually block the consequences that are scattered all around your broken life forever, and you can’t escape the disheartening feeling of knowing the system is so heavily stacked against women and children.

This interview should be required viewing for every judge and every probation officer who writes pre-sentence reports.
Our treatment of victims of crime, particularly when the perpetrators are family members is appalling.
Parole board decisions need to be monitored and questioned at every stage.
Her father was, and continues to be, a manipulator, a psychopath and a danger to young children. There is no evidence that he can be rehabilitated. This is truly heartbreaking, and to my shock, I was in a similar situation. My dad had a previous marriage and son, split up with them, and ended up in prison for GBH. Apparently, he stabbed someone and pushed them through the window, trying to kill them. Then a few years later he got with my mum, who was only 17. He was nearly 30. Got her pregnant had me. Then, he decided randomly that he was trans and did full transition in the early 2000s. He never abused me, but he neglected me and my mother to the point my mum would physically abuse me and he would not intervine. He just didn't care anymore. Embracing his new woman identity and forgetting his past life was the only thing that mattered. He's technically a father of 3 but distanced himself from that position. 20yrs later this resonates with me that he was once married and been to prison, the transition was to escape his previous identity. Crazy

Here in Canada she would face the likelihood of prison and/or 10 thousand in fines. Now statistics of woman committing these crimes is being falsely elevated.

The punishments for harming the most vulnerable in our society is disgraceful. The whole Jimmy Saville story had shown the punishments are low because the system is complicit in the abuse. The whole system needs to be removed and re done.

To answer Andrew's question at 49:00. Yes! Just done a film shoot that allowed men to come into women spaces, such as bathrooms and changing rooms, just because they have long hair. Mildred's in Soho, again, allows men to share the bathroom with women. Hence, why I will not go back there. At Laban I had to share the same bathroom as men, and would usually stay in the cubicle until they were gone. It is happening. I don't care about offending people that are uncomfortable with their sexuality and force the rest of us to just go with it, but I DO CARE about women and children being safe.

The problem is people keep calling predatory personalities “monsters”. It sounds juvenile and uneducated. That is what you use to start teaching children about dangerous individuals. But while this continues it will continue to show the childish uneducated nature of society.
Using correct terms and removing words like “narcissist, sociopath , psychopath” will help society in the long run and more people will be taken seriously.

One of the most telling things Andrew said here when referring to such laxed sentences when it comes to child sexual abuse crimes is "who does this serve"? The upper echelons of the justice system have been transparent about who they are for years. Remember, when people repeatedly show you who they are, believe them. Such a courageous young woman. I will find a way to support her. ❤

    • @christinejolliffe8002

That is just horrific...... the thought that he can change his identity and have a 'clean' record is disgusting. Even if he felt that he should of been a woman, although I think its just an excuse, that doesn't make you a peodophile, its sick. Ceri you are amazing, thank you so much for sharing your story, I wish you nothing but the very best for your life. I hope he can be bought to come kind of justice, there is something wrong with the law if he can dodge his crimes. It is also really damaging to the trans community, trans people have enough struggles to be seen a valid without monsters like this on the loose. Ten years wasn't long enough, five is just a joke. I was abused as a child, as far as I know the person that did it never got caught or punished. It's awful that they expect you to call him, her. I am all for trans rights and have no problem with calling someone by the pronouns they choose, but this.... this is just...... it feels wrong.
