They give a whole speech about love and compassion and everyone's on here hollering "TMZ!!!111eleventy" like you have to choose between them. I will never ever forget the day I randomly clicked on their Tiny Desk concert. These guys are absolute pioneers and astounding musicians.
ever since I randomly found their Tiny Desk Concert I've been amazed every time I hear them and especially see them perform, it's completely different from anything else I've heard or seen
I'm not understanding why we have to decide between Too Many Zooz, Moon Hooch, or any other band toting similar instruments. there is room in the music world for all of the great, hard working musicians to spread their message. I love them both & frankly they both bring such different elements to the table that trying to compare the two would be impossible. the two are just so different. the only similarities they have are the drums, the saxes & the size of the bands. & all 6 of these gents deserve props as the excessively talented musical badasses & rebels that they are. show some respect.
These dudes have extreme magnitude live. Seeing them is like setting your heart on fire. It was like 98 degrees outside when I saw them at San Diegos xfest. Just three dudes off stage on these restricted stairs to the side of the stage. They were there to play between act changes, but needless to say they completely derailed every act. Hope they play this smart and make it big
Yep. It's the splash he has on his snare drum. It's used to create a more dry disco/hip-hop sound (if you don't hit the cymbal), and otherwise just add an effect to the sound. It sounds great
They've all grown and improved so so much since they started, but especially the drummer. If you listen to their oldest songs, then their newest, it's like a whole different band. Around 12:30 to 13:00 I swear I hear 3 saxes. WHERE TF DID THE OTHER ONE COME FROM!?!? There's also a small chunk missing from one of the cymbals. Is that how the cymbal is made? Or is it broken? It looks too intentional to be broken, but I've never seen a cymbal like that before
Took a chance on a band I'd never heard of this past weekend, and was blown into oblivion by one of the most intense displays of musicianship and innovative expressions. Moon Hooch, music to dissolve into. Now seeing this TED talk on what it took for them to transcend their personal tensions, it all makes sense.
Tiny Desk as well. I mean, how are you gonna see the still with the cone coming out of the sax and NOT click on it?! These do indeed rock. Can't wait to see them live!
Honestly I think this was one of their worse performances and It's still amazing. So glad I had the opportunity to catch them live. There is nothing like the energy they create. It must have to had suck listening to them sitting down in that hall.
Ipwn touch I've seen them only twice. Once with an incredible sound/stage system/group. Nothing can compare to that. I went in not knowing them thinking, whatever, I came out with my mind blown. I've tried spreading the word, but you almost have to see it to believe it.
Btw, I did get to meet them because I was with other touring bands. I have to say they're like any other great band. They need to all be there. They ALL contribute. They need each other.
man. these big scenes are dispersive and whoever did the mixing on this clearly didnt understand when to bring up the volumes of the lead sax. awesome musicianship anyway and also good "stay together for the kids" speech. but tiny desk was couple notches up hands down
Does anyone know if they purposely put the tenor on a shallow equalized sound? Or is it just in this online upload? It's a bit of a loss since he plays the leading solos.
James has a great build but V-necks definitely don't suite him. Amazing performance. Never knew about all the infighting the band suffered through. Pretty incredible the amount of effort they put into making it work.
That's an EWI, electric wind instrument. That one is the original and made by AKAI, there are others, the main competition being the WX series by Yamaha that has been made on and off since the 90's, right now they are not in production, while AKAI produces EWIs full time.
Wompus Woo it’s a France company. (Sadly i forgot the name) but the custom 3D print the mouthpiece specifically for you and if you don’t like it you send it back and they remake it
Bridge Baxter it’s a French company (sadly i forgot the name) but they 3D print it specifically for you and if you don’t like it they send it back and remake it
They give a whole speech about love and compassion and everyone's on here hollering "TMZ!!!111eleventy" like you have to choose between them. I will never ever forget the day I randomly clicked on their Tiny Desk concert. These guys are absolute pioneers and astounding musicians.
Agree with u! same here! ;)
have you seen their collab song? moon hooch and too many zooz created a group called moon zooz and did a song
Tsuji87 yeah that was brillant.
Bulletstop75 just had that moment of randomly clicking on their tiny desk performance...I'm hooked
Tiny Desk today here.
ever since I randomly found their Tiny Desk Concert I've been amazed every time I hear them and especially see them perform, it's completely different from anything else I've heard or seen
try too many zooz or lucky chops, they're pretty similar
if you enjoy this, then probably Thundersmack and Meute are great choices too. There is a very similar band from Germany called Brass Riot too.
they used to hate each other and now they buy the same shoes
Stole my thunder
may you tell me the story?
Man....reminds me of the story of your mom and i
And then they broke with James anyway.
He is a strange wizard.

Jennifer Gooley Are people trying to choose one over the other? I just want them to make some more awesome collaborative music together
Never mind, I just scrolled down. Good lord, why is it so impossible for people to accept that there are two great bands with similar stiles -_-
Dead Neanderthals is the best
What we need is Moon Hooch+Lucky Chops+Too Many Zooz collab
@@maradupras7278 yes
How are these guys not more popular?!
bari 3 is easily one of the top 10 cave songs of all time!!
Song times:
3:45 - Ewi
9:19 - Number 9
13:45 - Bari 3
17:13 - Contrabass Dubstep

Someday I will reach James Muschler levels of crazy-eyes.
Drummer is in a deep state of zen concentration it seems.
macarthur19 meth what you are talking about its meth
Acid, actually. That would also explain the love montage and the crystal necklaces. And the music. God damn the music. Thank you acid.
I've never seen him leave whatever realm he exists in.
Having met them in person I can report that they are not tripping on anything but life. They are the real deal.
@@LinrudOwiee aww man must have been great to hear em live!
thank you tiny desk!
I'm so glad that this band has stuck together so well because they are AMAZING!
15:57 and 17:32 James is KILLING IT on the drums.
15:00 was a very Stewart Copeland like drum transition- epic
Why is that transition from number 9 to bari 3 so satisfying
these guys are pure geniuses when it comes to music :o
at 5:20 does James just thrown a cymbal on the ground?
Yep. It's the splash he has on his snare drum. It's used to create a more dry disco/hip-hop sound (if you don't hit the cymbal), and otherwise just add an effect to the sound. It sounds great
It’s probably safe to assume that he didn’t need it anymore and just did that to get it out of the way.
I love their sound! I can't imagine the crowd not out of their seats going nuts over these guys! would love to see them live!
They've all grown and improved so so much since they started, but especially the drummer. If you listen to their oldest songs, then their newest, it's like a whole different band. I was just moved by their perfect speech and that amazing wired harmony
I like listening to them play music!
Saw these dudes live in ATX and they absolutely crushed it!

Brilliant
my favourite 20 minute set ever
The drummer is a beast.
Since i hear you i love you, and now have 100% respect and support your way dudes, keep that! Youre an inspiraton
Saw them open for Mike Doughty in Vancouver. Phenomenal live and through them I found the collab w TMZooz. All great in their own way.
I can't beleive I just witnessed another man doing the crazy angry train like noise that Leo P does on his bari
I mean they have different styles, but yeah it's pretty similar. Just astounding that he can do it on tenor.
JAW DROPPING BREATH TAKING AMAZING. a true inspiration - both musically and humanely :)

My new favorite band!
Other than '' MATH '' ......music is the human magic of communication !!!
woww
awesome performance
spechless
When I grow up I want to be moon hooch
It's hard to tell if the drummer's wearing the team shoe.
this shit is so fire. it should have 4 million views let alone 4k...
so inventive.
needs to be in the cantina in Star Wars
omg yes
But the cyberpunk remake
Addictive !
As a person who Anli heard “Number 9”, when they switched to it, I went crazy
Stay Strong, Stay Together and Make More Beautiful songs. You are all amazing. Love You Guys. Thank You So Much :D
I lit up when they started playing #9
Now that is an intro, almost got to see them in MONTREAL,,, won't miss them again.
A bit more insight into how remarkable these guys are, and why their music is as good as it is :-)
James is a mad scientist, his laboratory is the stage, his tools are his drums, and his freak badass experiment is his beats
Are they jazz? Are they rock? Are the proghop?! Whatever, I LOVE them!
Welcome to Cave Music
These guys rock so fucking hard.
Greatest
Amo su musica! son geniales!!!!

Timothy Barth these guys are on a whole another lvl
Yeah, the tiny desk mix works so well because it's so dry. It's just music, no effects - here the flanger effect sucks life out of the brass.
That solo nah man wth 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
Ted has 7 million subscribers and this gets bearly 80k what the hell
Whole band of Whiplash
super intense
just love it
Love it. Really. Only band with horns I like.
Wicked use of the EWI here.
Just saw them play on Later with Jools Holland, playing Psychotubes! Impressive group.
Oh man, that's a whole lotta drumming from a seriously basic drum kit. These guys are proper entertainment
Sad to hear them talking about overcoming disputes now considering James has left the band.
James didn't want to go through the process of working through it.
Great band. Greetings from Spain
Hola👋
EWI is sooo cool
The ultimate Ted Talk: Let the music talk!!!
They need an electric tuba
Avery Mcguire Only if you knew.
E..electric tuba??
Electric Tuba needs them
honestly I thought they were well off with just 2 horns but... YES they do
3:43 the song starts
17:23 dubstwp time
💗
Dubstep Sax. Nice...
That transition to bari 3 was legendary. They need to do that again with some better sound equipment
What is that instrument Wenzl is playing at the beginning? It's sweet!
+JanuarysGinger its called an EWI
EWI, or Electric Wind Instrument
More specifically an Akai EWI.
Amazing!!!
what is that softer tune at 7:00 that they keep going back and forth to? Was it just improv or an actual song?
Its part of the song. Look up EWI.
This is why loopers were developed.
Does anyone know if they purposely put the tenor on a shallow equalized sound? Or is it just in this online upload? It's a bit of a loss since he plays the leading solos.
luv u!
Does anyone know what the red bari mouthpiece is
Somebody fire the soundman PLS!! Tiny desk sounds so much better and you can tell they enjoyed that set much better.
i see space clarinet i like
Simple man ez life
James has a great build but V-necks definitely don't suite him.
Amazing performance. Never knew about all the infighting the band suffered through. Pretty incredible the amount of effort they put into making it work.
Surprised he didnt pop that shit off with that flame they were all spittin
I love you even more now I know you meditate! Makes sense though. Big love ❤
James Muschler is an attribute!
what is the bari mouthpiece?
Harness for an ewi
What is that electric instrument?????? What u call it?
Electric Sax?
That's an EWI, electric wind instrument. That one is the original and made by AKAI, there are others, the main competition being the WX series by Yamaha that has been made on and off since the 90's, right now they are not in production, while AKAI produces EWIs full time.
Is that a kyber crystal around his neck?
These songs are lit af. What is the final woodwind that is the circular one?
i have no idea but it looks like some kind of clarinet maybe? I'm just basing that off the mouthpiece
its a contrabass clari.
Last instrument anyone? Contrabass sax?
I believe it is a contrabass clarinet. I'm not exactly sure what type it is, but it is definitely some type of clarinet
Evan Surmaj It's the Leblanc model 340 contrabass clarinet. It's generally referred to as the paper clip clarinet though
Makes me cry seeing how it was used, cuz I just want one to play concert band music
Clarisaxx22 Dude I feel that, but Wendell just freakin annihilates it and his so innovative with his sound and oh my lord
Wenzel*
What's the bari mouthpiece he's using?
Jacob Buchan all late but it’s a Runyon
song?
song at 15:00 ????
Bari 3
that drummer is great tho, sounds like studio drums
What bari sax mouthpiece is that?
its a discontinued one, not sure tho. i remember them posting it on their Insta saying it was discontinued and i forget what brand they said it was.
Vyzix Qwez Runyon
Can anyone tell me what the last song is called? It's a little bit reminiscent of something Meute would play.
anyone know that bari sax mouthpiece?
Wompus Woo it’s a France company. (Sadly i forgot the name) but the custom 3D print the mouthpiece specifically for you and if you don’t like it you send it back and they remake it
Wompus Woo i wanna get one but they’re like $350
@@jackmaske5501 one year later you remember the name yet?
One year later if you still don’t know it’s a Runyon
name of first bass instrument? thanx
electric wind instrument i believe
xMtysx02 it's called an EWI
Hated eachother and now literally they walk in the same shoes.
tricktaylor1983 And now hate each other again.
seems there is someone in the back specifically doing the effects? lol cool.
Wenzl is that a goddamn bass clarinet?
Contrabass
what kind of mouthpiece is on that bari sax??
Bridge Baxter it’s a French company (sadly i forgot the name) but they 3D print it specifically for you and if you don’t like it they send it back and remake it
