I was beatboxing every day, practicing it all the time..I forgot about the concept, and reminded myself of the great moments through videos once again, 8 years after...I also listened to dubstep and skrillex.. 8 years ago I saw this video for the first time and I thought about learning it. I’ve been beatboxing for 7 years now and it became my biggest passion. Thank you Tom for this revolutionary performance and big thanks to TedX for letting this artist appear on the scene
It's like half a comedy stand up and half a beatboxing performance that is pretty much the greatest of all time. His remarkable positive attitude just makes the performance perfect.
This is beyond beatboxing. This is an a cappella multi track live performance on a level of absolutely insane perfection. And the worst of all: This dude makes it look ridiculously easy.
It's blowing my mind how he's doing multiple layered sounds with just his mouth/voice. That's insane. Out of all the viral beatboxers I've seen during the internet age, he's the best one by a long shot so far.
Or perhaps it’s because you can learn the content of an educational video and have no reason to return, whereas entertainment videos can be returned to on several occasions. Especially considering that music is much more complex in our minds than a well explained theory. The whole reason you get songs stuck in your head is because your brain views it as an unfinished task. For example, you would probably listen to a song you like many more times than you’ll come to reread that little fact I just said, because you’ve already read it and have no reason to return often. You’ve already taken in that information.
i bet you're the type of person to find studying music or arts ridiculous and to hate small talk, because you only want to talk about deep matters. get over yourself
Are you? Do you beat box? Do you make sounds with your mouth? Do you play an instrument? Do you have a UA-cam account? I'd love to hear you! What kind of music do you play and sing?

The beatbox community is proud of tom. Its weird how beatbox videos tend to get the highest views on famous channels and shows and the beatbox scene isn’t as popular as it should be.
As someone with autism/adhd, i can say people as myself in schools have, at least once in their lives, beatbox out of boredom without knowing it and or trying to perfect it but this guy took this to another level.

I come back to rewatch this every now and then. Always gives a smile. His actual skill, more specifically his ability to very accurately mimic various instruments, combined with his ability to control the pads and add that factor, along side his presentation skills and persona, makes me unsurprised he’s the most viewed ted talk. It’s normally hard to make beatboxing interesting and captive for more than a minute or two, but his totality of talent makes it a pleasure.
THIS IS PURE GENEROSITY. STANDING ON A BIG PLATFORM..... HE IS NEITHER TRYING TO CONVINCE CROWD FOR HIS IDEAS AND OPINIONS NOR TRYING TO BE A MOTIVATOR. UNEXPECTIDELY HE IS ENTERTAINING THE WHOLE CROWD JUST AS HE DOES USUALLY.
This man's spouse can never catch him off guard 😂 Like when he is hanging out in the bar with his friends. The wife: "Hello honey, when are you coming home" "Ambulance sounds in the back ground and cars beeping" Tom: "Sorry love, i am stuck in traffic. I think there was an accident"
@@flintlockwoodhd7932 That's still impressive compared to GBB, even more when you keep in mind that this was a decade ago. Here Tom is playing for a new public and has to be very musical, where in GBB the technicity is more important, so people that are discovering beatbox here would just cringe seeing GBB.
@@Chdarro59 I’m not nocking this I’m just saying beatboxing has come a VERY long way Also technique is important in gbb but it still highly musical and everyone who I know is new to beatboxing and enjoys it loves gbb so are you sure you even know what you are talking about
@FLINTLOCKWOOD HD well you can't show a random gbb round to someone who doesn't know beatbox... Show them D-Low, codfish, show-go yeah ofc they'll like the musical part. Now show them some Zekka or colaps techniques they'll be like "looks impressive but meh..." OH and I know what you mean, My GF discovered it on GBB and liked it, and so did some of my friends, but I'm not talking about your average friends that might potentially like this, I'm talking about 40 to 60 yo random people discovering beatbox on a Tedx. B Ningthouja Tom’s Daughter: dad you said you’d get a DJ, it’s my sweet 16 ;-; Tom: but I did Tom’s daughter: WELL WHERE IS HE D:< Tom: why you’re staring at him ^-^
+Erica Michael Jackson beatboxed too. That was how he composed his songs. He would beatbox the melody into a tape recorder and have the band come in to record the instruments based on his beatbox recording. There is a video on youtube of him beatboxing his song "who is it" during an oprah interview.
Its a tradition to watch this again once in a while.

Crazy it's been almost 11 years. I love it as much as when I first saw it and I come back here every once in a while to enjoy
He inspires me for using sunglasses at night.
*Corey Hart is quaking.*
Hahahahahsga
Okay
Me also..
Sunglasses not for only sun.
I like his great positive attitude.
true love same here
He is more cool than you

Obviously!!
Honestly, Hats-off to this guy, cause this guy is still the most viewed talk in TED TALK!! Bro is an absolutely GOAT.
Number 1 Rule for Beatboxing: Always bring your own mic.
No mic no beatbox 🤣🤣, that's true
Covid concern!
Haha
Jea... You dont want use a mic that n other beatboxer nearly had down half his throat XD
Also waterproof mic ...
Dislikes are from instrument owners
😂
MRKI 🤪😄😄😄😄
no dislikes are from people who know bigman and know that beatboxing can be more than spitting into your mic
@@purp1e300 he is doing more than that though
@@quantumfrost9467 it just doesn't have any melody witch I don't like at all
This man's spouse can never catch him off guard 😂
Like when he is hanging out in the bar with his friends.
The wife: "Hello honey, when are you coming home"
"Ambulance sounds in the back ground and cars beeping"
Tom: "Sorry love, i am stuck in traffic. I think there was an accident"
Wife:
-¿ARE YOU DANCING AT THE DISCO WITH SOMEONE?
It's like a superpower
He definitely looks like a Tom.
NOT TRUE
its 100% true
A tom drum.
5:57 That’s insane that he can do that 🤯
Look up gbb and I think you might pass out
@@flintlockwoodhd7932 That's still impressive compared to GBB, even more when you keep in mind that this was a decade ago.
Here Tom is playing for a new public and has to be very musical, where in GBB the technicity is more important, so people that are discovering beatbox here would just cringe seeing GBB.
@@Chdarro59 I’m not nocking this
I’m just saying beatboxing has come a VERY long way
Also technique is important in gbb but it still highly musical and everyone who I know is new to beatboxing and enjoys it loves gbb so are you sure you even know what you are talking about
@FLINTLOCKWOOD HD well you can't show a random gbb round to someone who doesn't know beatbox...
Show them D-Low, codfish, show-go yeah ofc they'll like the musical part.
Now show them some Zekka or colaps techniques they'll be like "looks impressive but meh..."
OH and I know what you mean, My GF discovered it on GBB and liked it, and so did some of my friends, but I'm not talking about your average friends that might potentially like this, I'm talking about 40 to 60 yo random people discovering beatbox on a Tedx. Probability to make them cringe are not the same.
@@Chdarro59 Yh good point
Dope as it’s like he has an orchestra in his throat
Gang dam Style watch saro vs mb14, or trung bao’s wild card it is way better imo
Heath Sims ya I know he is but he’s a bit old school plus he would have done way better beats if he was against a pro
Literally impossible to watch this without smiling.
This man won't need a DJ when he throws a party.

+Erica Michael Jackson beatboxed too. That was how he composed his songs. He would beatbox the melody into a tape recorder and have the band come in to record the instruments based on his beatbox recording. There is a video on youtube of him beatboxing his song "who is it" during an oprah interview.
