I gotta whole list of complaints... my belt burnt up my ac compressor. Oil leaks, exhaust flex broken, as u mentioned, my radiator hose blew at the seam and had to eventually get new radiator 3 of the 6 rods or rockers needed replaced. Start/stop never has worked. I just bought one. My 2010 Grand Cherokee has been decent to me, so I figured I would give this guy a shot. Same dark blue as my 2010 Grand Cherokee and both are very sharp vehicles. I had a friend with one that put close to 160k on it from new over 6 years and no problems. Figured it was a safe bet and heard the Pentastar motors were improved in these model years (2014 and up). Disappointed in hearing the rocker arm issue was not resolved. Guess I will have to pay out of pocket as soon as I suspect it's faulty. So far, it is quiet and idles smooth. I did not know these were based off of a Dart. We owned a Dart from new and it almost caught fire due to a harness issue. We were able to get good money on trade though, but I don't think I would have bought it if I known it was off the Dart body. My guess is the harness is different and shouldn't be an issue apart from what you mentioned, but the "No Start" issues you mentioned are familiar with the Dart.
Just do your oil changes early in my opinion and your pentastar will last a long time. It’s when people let the oil changes go too long and the internals suffer

Not down shifting at stop sign/red light. Start stop not working for multiple reasons including driver door open yet no icon appears on dash stating such, and yes they do work for all doors and gate. Hard shifting usually from 4 to 5 or 5 to 6. But anything to do with the transmission is intermittent. Seemingly related to the tfts. A lot of people report short battery life. I've noticed that these KL's have a big power draw naturally. I had a coworker with that exact issue but I forget what it ended up being, he replaced a pile of stuff on it and if I remember correctly it was a can network issue due to pin fitment in one of the connectors under the hood near the fuse box, the vacuum leak fault just sets due to low engine/stall condition
PTU Recall! Good luck with the transmissions mine was repaired twice and just found out the hard way I don’t even have 4 wheel drive on my trailhawk. There is a laundry list of criteria that the computer wants to see in order to allow the stop/start system to function as intended, something on the list must be causing the engine computer to not allow it to stop start. The first step is to scan the vehicle and see what fault codes are in the system to help direct you in the right direction to resolve the problem

Sounds like you have something under the car like a heat shield or bracket maybe resonating during a specific RPM and causing a noise for a split second and then disappearing
I've got a 2015 Cherokee and it rattles/clunks when going over bumps. Sounds like its coming from under the car at the center of the dash. I can't find any of the suspension components bad. The front of the drive shaft has a little play but I don't know if it's enough to cause the clunking noise. Any ideas?
@@Tech-28 Thanks for the reply. It ended up being a bad sway bar end link and it was resonating through the sway bar making it appear to be coming from the center of the car. One of the ball sockets on the end link was just slightly worn. Hard to believe how loud the clunking was with so little wear and movement in the joint.
For some reason on my 2017 the rear passenger taillight went out so I went and got a new light thinking that would fix the solution and it didn’t what do yall think could be the issue?
I just test-drove a 2015 Latitude that was blowing white smoke under the hood. Smelled like oil and I told the Dealer about it, she saw it and said they'd take it to their shop and have a look at it. I'm interested in buying it,as they have it discounted at a reasonable price, but told them the oil leak problem would have to be resolved. If they come back and say it was fixed, do I need to remove the air cooler to observe the problem ? How would I know if it was permanently fixed ? Thank you
I am assuming you meant the oil cooler under the intake manifold on the 3.6L V6 engine? I would use a video scope and sneak it down under the intake into the valley of the engine right beside the filter housing and inspect it for cleanliness, whoever performed the repair should have done a nice job and cleaned up all of the oil and coolant that spilled out during the repair.
Australia - spare parts for Jeep are cost prohibitive , small problems become expensive problems unless fitting non-jeep after market parts. eg HID headlight bulbs blow like crazy and Jeep wants $400 each genuine bulb. Non genuined voids warranty. genuie turns out to be phillips bulbs. Eventually, i fitted non standard LED bulbs which work a treat. Lower control arm bushings split and failed after 70k of bitumen driving , complete arm replacement ($1300) oil filter/cooler housing replacement required after 70k ($1400) ticking sound is most likely requiring rocker and lifter replacement after 70k (quoted $2k) screen hardware is laggy and refuses firmware updates wont hold and forces reset back to default, undertaken by jeep service technicians, problem includes map updates Overall - driving the car is enojoyable when operational

2015 jeep cherokee. Bought at 50k miles, at 100k today. fixed so far... Shifter, (problem happend again after replacing "service shifter light") battery, alternator, all spark plugs, all ignition coils, all break pads, all rotors, all tires.. Next on the list, I have a coolant leak. and the start stop doesnt again work after dealer fixed it. Cars paid off.... keep or sell? lol
I bought one of the POS new in 2015. They would never even honor the warranty. On the first oil change, the dealer disabled second gear because so many ZF transmissions were failing in second. It was a very dangerous vehicle to drive after that and no matter how many times that I took it in with dash lights lit up, they never fixed a single problem. I couldn't even drive it off road without the 4WD overheating and disabling. Never again, Jeep. It is fraud pure and simple.
Wow 😮 that’s crazy! I try and steer people away from these but occasionally someone I know will buy one and they just break down or cost money all the time
I have a 2017, I don’t recommend it. I have a 4WD service message come up on my screen. I was told that in total for the part and labor it will be over $4,000. And the part is back ordered till maybe May 2025.

Alternator went bad and it’s in the worst possible place they could have designed it to be! Check engine light has been on for two years and no one can seem to figure out why, I’m Sure I have an EVAP leak somewhere that no one has been able to find, engine mounts are most likely bad ( hence why the light is possibly on) and the crank shaft is knocking , also it recently started getting “ stuck “ not going above 25 mph almost in a “ limp mode” , twice …. Oh let’s not forget the gas cap light even though it’s fine , it literally turns on whenever it decides . I regret buying this “ fiat” for the jeep name, I want to pay this thing off and get rid of it FAST!!!
My 2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude only has 44,861 miles on it and is extremely well cared for. My drivetrain needs to be replaced at the cost of $1,600 for the parts and labor is extra. I paid more to buy a Jeep because they are "suppose" to last long and be a superior SUV.......guess what, not true.

Hope your mechanic has good luck finding the concern and fixes it at a low cost! Let me know what it ends up being, it could help someone else in the future
2017 jeep cherokee trailhawk. Power keeps dropping down from 14.4 to 12.8 and goes back up on and off while idling changed the alternator and few other things tensioner, pully. Still doing it?? Also have this whirrling noise only while driving gets noisy constantly when you put it in electronic gear select in any gear but will quiet down in just normal drive mode but will get loud if i rev it a bit before the vehicle starts to accelerate?? EVERYONE DONT BUY ONE take my advice!!
Great video buddy. Are you open to doing any product review that related to Auto led lighting? We would like to arrange to have our product shipped for doing that.
Yes 👍 we would love to make product review videos on your product
Have u had a 2173 vaccuum problem with a 2.4 that just stalls while driving ? Maybe “cracked oil pump housing”?
Especially while turning oddly enough several people in forums same
I had a coworker with that exact issue but I forget what it ended up being, he replaced a pile of stuff on it and if I remember correctly it was a can network issue due to pin fitment in one of the connectors under the hood near the fuse box, the vacuum leak fault just sets due to low engine/stall condition
PTU Recall! Good luck with the transmissions mine was repaired twice and just found out the hard way I don’t even have 4 wheel drive on my trailhawk. It’s a known issue that they tried to repair with software when the actual Spine is the problem you cannot fix mechanical issues with software updates. jeeps are notorious for sucking. This has been the absolute worst vehicle I’ve ever purchased in my life. Had to get towed all the way home.
Hello, my Jeep Cherokee 2018 says battery safe mode and my radio hasn’t worked ever since, I changed the battery to the highest voltage and still saying it, do U have any recommendations??
@@TheQuelix3 it’s possible the battery sensor is faulty, however I would have someone scan the car first and see if it has set any codes that might indicate an issue
Had the same issue with my 2015 jeep Cherokee there should be a sensor on the negative battery terminal that has went bad. Have to replace that sensor to get it out of battery saver mode and your stereo should work fine after that that’s what solved my problem.
2015 Cherokee latitude. All kinds of crazy nonsense happening, service shifter message, start/ stop not active due to battery charging (w/ new oe spec agm battery) and a nice handful of mostly low voltage codes as well
Did you have your backup camera mess up when you got your service shifter message? I happen to have both of those I don't know if they're related
That's weird that you said the service shifter thing might be related to a battery because I feel like my issue might have started around that time....hmm....
@@off-roadingexplained8417so we ended up just getting rid of it. Ours was taking in water somewhere and it was running down the inside of the body (jeep has service bulletins for 16+ but not 15 and back) pop your hatch and pull the plastic cubby on the drivers rear side and feel around for water

@@off-roadingexplained8417 ofc, np! get ahead of it while you can. but the service shifter alone, might just be the shifter assembly
my stop start doesn't work on my2015 trail hawk..says stop start not available battery charging,, alternator is good and battery is new could you help me???
There is a laundry list of criteria that the computer wants to see in order to allow the stop/start system to function as intended, something on the list must be causing the engine computer to not allow it to stop start. The first step is to scan the vehicle and see what fault codes are in the system to help direct you in the right direction to resolve the problem
@@Tech-28 thanks i already y took it to the dealership and they couldnt fix it
@@jamest6837 oh really?? That sucks, did they tell you what fault codes were in the system?
@@Tech-28 nothing related to the stop start the oil pressure switch was bad and that got replaced...going in next week for the liftgate recall...its had the timing cover resealed and oil cooler repaired..igot lucky this one never has any Transmisson or other major issues
2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude great !!
142K, no probs except for the screwy transmission in low gear is jerky, sometimes feels like engine will die, but then it doesn’t, last I heard, it’s a computer issue that’s unfixable
What is the grinding under acceleration while turning hard left 2018 kl trailhawk 3.2l
Maybe axle
Should I put a ball joint delete kit on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee limited
@@brandonfisher5914 lol a what?!
It’s called a ball joint deletion kit
Slight quick grinding when accelerating. Lasts only for a few seconds and sounds like it’s coming from under the car. Any thoughts?
Sounds like you have something under the car like a heat shield or bracket maybe resonating during a specific RPM and causing a noise for a split second and then disappearing
I've got a 2015 Cherokee and it rattles/clunks when going over bumps. Sounds like its coming from under the car at the center of the dash. I can't find any of the suspension components bad. The front of the drive shaft has a little play but I don't know if it's enough to cause the clunking noise. Any ideas?
Check sway bar links, shocks, transfer case for cracks, ball joints.
Had 2 problems with mine, my oil housing leak like 3 years ago, changed for an aluminum housing and my front left cv joint went bad 2 times 😅
Just did my oil filter housing. It was just the o rings though when I pulled it out. Stuck on the alternator now
For some reason on my 2017 the rear passenger taillight went out so I went and got a new light thinking that would fix the solution and it didn’t what do yall think could be the issue?
Fuse, wiring, or socket.
Lift gate malfunction.....remote and dash buttons don't work.....Chrysler sent a recall bulletin but didn't/ won't repair
2014 purge valve, oil cooler misfire on cylinder 1 and coil not bad so far it has 100,000 but shifts like shit 🥲
do the trailhawk trim experience these issues too?
Unfortunately yes it does
I just test-drove a 2015 Latitude that was blowing white smoke under the hood.
Thanks for the quick reply 👍I appreciate it. @@Tech-28
I have this Jeep and I’m telling you right now run as fast as you can. It’s not worth it I regret getting this piece of junk!!!!
For 2016 Jeep Cherokee Overland - the "intelligent battery sensor".
Lower control arm bushings split and failed after 70k of bitumen driving , complete arm replacement ($1300)
oil filter/cooler housing replacement required after 70k ($1400)
ticking sound is most likely requiring rocker and lifter replacement after 70k (quoted $2k)
screen hardware is laggy and refuses firmware updates wont hold and forces reset back to default, undertaken by jeep service technicians, problem includes map updates
Overall - driving the car is enojoyable when operational
Are they that bad ?
@@alburns7278 well they have a lot of issues but they are a good vehicle when they do run good. This particular vehicle is mostly a FIAT product with a JEEP badge on the front

Next on the list, I have a coolant leak. and the start stop doesnt again work after dealer fixed it. Cars paid off.... keep or sell? lol

Help with hatch not opening
There should be a recall on it
I bought one of the POS new in 2015.
@@anny866 omg! That sounds like a nightmare! Was the 4WD driven hard and caused it to break or did it just break because it’s crappy?

So after watching your video and reading through all the comments, it was very very informative. Wish I would have seen this video before I purchase my 2015 Jeep Cherokee with only 43,000 miles. It was very informative a lot of the points you were making in the video making a lot more sense now, have a question about the ball joint kit is it worth putting on the 2015 Jeep Cherokee?
I meant to say ball joint delete kit
I have a 2015 V6 110k started giving me a bunch of issues when I purchased it around 75k, I’ll give a list
Back passenger window recently went out ( have no idea if it’s the fuse or motor)
Headlight on driver side is out ,
The passenger air damper is stuck in cold mode,
The PTU was replaced twice and now needs replacing again,
Also I would get lights on that would say service brake , odometer would randomly flash/ no traction control….
Alternator went bad and it’s in the worst possible place they could have designed it to be!
Check engine light has been on for two years and no one can seem to figure out why,
I’m Sure I have an EVAP leak somewhere that no one has been able to find, engine mounts are most likely bad ( hence why the light is possibly on) and the crank shaft is knocking , also it recently started getting “ stuck “ not going above 25 mph almost in a “ limp mode” , twice …. Oh let’s not forget the gas cap light even though it’s fine , it literally turns on whenever it decides .
I regret buying this “ fiat” for the jeep name, I want to pay this thing off and get rid of it FAST!!!
Love the story, thanks for sharing! :)
2015 Jeep Cherokee 93,000 miles-motor mounts.
😔 sorry to hear that

Rad fan always on high ( engine light )
Uconnect ( small 4" touch ) reboots every 2 minutes, no power to USB ports when rebooting
( tried the volume and seek button reset did not reset at all ) thank you.
The rad fan could be on for a couple reasons. The coolant temp sensor or sensor circuit could be faulty, or the air conditioning system pressures could be way to high
This car has been a nightmare. I’ve had it for almost 5 years and it’s impossible to save any money. I’ve replaced the back shocks 3 times the battery 3 times, the terminals, alternator, the transfer case twice, the radiator twice, ball joints regularly. Forget about stop/start, oil leaks, engine and gasket.. It’s just a nightmare. Im very good about regular maintenance but the car is just bad. Every month I’m at the mechanic or dealership with a new big problem. I’m at my wits end but I’m stubborn and can’t afford a new car. Wish I never bought this lemon. Jeep should be ashamed of themselves.
Whenever you get the money, trade it in for a Toyota.
The radiator goes to you. You have to change it every two years.
