The fact that you put these training sessions together for free is fantastic. I hope you know how blessed you are and will be, for sharing this artistic information and your God given talents!!!!
You are awesome…I am 69 and have never been this confused with colours!! Mind you, my age doesn’t help😂! I have been learning the past couple years and my colours were always off, now I know why! You are down to earth and unselfishly share your knowledge! Thank you Sweetie and Love your spunk and art talent! Warm greetings from Canada❤
I'm still watching but I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate all you do! I'm not a beginner but all your videos are so valuable for so many reasons! Thank you for you being you! I so enjoy learning from you! I recommend you to everybody...most people know who you are. I'm going to watch this series...probably a couples times to soak up all your great info. 😊💙💜💚💛💖
Great educator. Can tell she has a love for art and love for sharing it with others. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness.
I started with craft paint, leapt to the professional heavy body liquitex before I knew why or what I was leaping to... It's quite the leap, honestly. I no longer have to go over things multiple times, it's not picking up every fiber of the brush with every stroke, I can paint over PENCIL every time now... I can only imagine how good the paints that you're recommending are if I'm using the nice stuff from a well-known brand that a great teacher _didn't_ recommend.
I have been painting for about three years and I never had any of that information that I am learning from you thank you so much I am going to seek all your advice just love you 😂❤
Highly recommend every new beginner takes the time to watch John & Cinnamon's complete beginner syllabus. I listen on headphones as I practice brush strokes / techniques/ trees / clouds, ect. You will learn so much! I know it's hard to slow down and not just paint IMMEDIATELY, but I have learned so much and improved on my paintings in just days with the info they provide. THANK U BOTH 4 THE LESSONS, TUTORIALS, TRACEABLES, AND CONFIDENCE! 44 Picking up a paint brush for the first time and loving every moment (even the fails as I learn from mishaps)!
Many retail paint stores will take paint for disposal. I buy empty house paint cans and use them to put wet and dry paints and paint water into. When they are full, I take them to one of our local paint stores that dispose of paint. Sherwin Williams, Rhodda, & Miller are a few that do this.
I've been watching your lessons for 4 yrs now and I learn something, even if it's a tip, from every one of your lessons. I'm enjoying this! Thanks for all you and John do! Happy Art Hugs :)
I'm not a beginner but I literally watched this video from beginning to end. I loved the video. You always find a way to make all info fresh, informative and interesting. I also love YOU , you're personality always shines through as well as your deep love of art. You are in yourself am inspiration for us to paint. Thank you.
Great video! I do have a question regarding heat. When drying with a hairdryer, are you using a cool setting? Is it really harmful to use a dryer with only low/warm setting?
Thanks so much for sharing your expertise through this media, it is so informative. I'm new to painting and it's thanks to your inspiration and teaching that I'm continuing on this painting journey. I'm 77 years of age and I just began painting in March 2021 and I love it! My family are amazed at my achievements thus far. Thanks to your hubby for all his tech support & knowledge.
Thank you soooo much for this course it is wonderful !!! You guys are the best out there, I am new to Acrylic, your videos are fantastic, I love you and thank you. The fact that you are willing to do such quality videos and this course for free is unheard of in the world these days. I am 77 and live on a tiny budget so again I thank thank, thank, you.
Not sure if you will be covering this later but can you please explain transparent, semi-transparent and opaque colors. When to use them, how to layer them, how to make a transparent color more opaque, etc.... Thank you for sharing all your knowledge! Love and happy thoughts to you and your family
Terrific video, so informative. As a beginner, I'd picked up bits of information here and there but your video explains everything properly and brings all the bits I'd read together. I appreciate your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Thank you 🍀
This was one of the most educational videos I have watched in my very short career as a beginner painter. I can't wait to find the video about brushes! Thank you. Thank you.
I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. Like this one, I had no that Golden's partner split & created Liquitex. How interesting! Thank you for all your effort and energy in making these videos. I always enjoy watching. You're a wonderful teacher!
cinnamon I would just like to say, thank you, thank you for such an informative video, in fact all that you have done so far ❤. I have learnt so much from you, stuff that I didn't even know until now, and I've been painting just over a year. thank you again and I can't wait to see all your others that will be coming up and I can't wait to paint along with you ❤😁
I'm here from the course - seeing how this video presents the segments I need to review. Love the time stamps! I bought Amsterdam paints, using the pigment numbers you provided for your Senneliers. You'll be happy to know I didn't pay list price, I scored a Michael's deal on top of a rewards voucher. Thank you both very much for your time and energy in putting the course together.
I learned a lot in this one video. I had no clue you should not pour paint water down the drain. One question: Should I clean my paint palette every time? If so, how?
@TheArtSherpa Just finished watching this video and I have a comment about your recommend paints. Most of the paints you recommended if not all the ones you mentioned are expensive professional paints. I'm a beginner but even I know that you don't need top of the range expensive paint to have good results. It would also be a waste for a beginner to buy expensive paint as it would be wasted on mistakes and practices which student grade or similar would be better for.
Thank you for all these tutorials. Believe it or not I have been a professional illustrator from the early seventies and on and never really paid attention to all these minor but important details about using acrylic paints. I have always mixed them all and created well known and widely published magazine illustrations when magazine illustrations were extremely popular. I have practically done everything you said we Artist should not do. From mixing different grades of paint to putting the caps on the tubes properly🤦♂️😂. I mean everything. We had deadlines to meet and at times things got to be chaotic and dint pay as much attention to these details. Here, the admonition of “do as I say not as I do” applies. Again, thank you for all you do and teach. Dick Cole
Second lesson and I’m so impressed with the knowledge your sharing I would never have known so much about acrylic paint which makes a difference thanks - looking forward to the rest of this course 🕊
This is so awesome! You are really helping me understand some things I’ve been pulling my hair about ~ like blending. I’ve been trying to get nice cumulus clouds & I’m beginning to understand why my blending sucks. Thank you so much. You are so kind and generous to do this. ❤️😊
Thank you for your thoughts on paints 🎨. I'm a beginner and not sure of myself. I have painted 🎨some and really enjoyed it. You could say painting runs in my family. Just sad it has taken me this long wanting to 🎨 paint. I have been so confused about the paint 🎨when I go to the store. Your information is helping me. Looking forward to your next lesson. I do have a question 🤔, but going to wait to see 👀if you cover it before I ask. Thanks again for your time and help.
My son (5) is really good at painting but he haven’t have any class about it. He’s starting this videos as a part of his homeschool classes. He loves all you hats 😁
Thank you for your videos. I’m a beginner and and watching your videos before I start using all theses supplies I bought. i can’t wait t9 get started but wanted to get an idea of how to start to save me from making rookie mistakes. i love all the colors of your hair. They all look beautiful on you!
I just started an art "class " . Actually it is mostly experienced artists meeting a couple of times a week to paint and an instructor to answer questions. I am the only one using watercolors, all others are using acrylics. I figured I had better look into acrylics if I am going to try to make friends among this group.
Love you Cinnamon! I'm a total nube to this medium & painting in general. However, you are best teacher I've come across online or inperson. Also, love that you work so well w/ ur hubby (I couldn't do that w/ mine tho wonderful he is 😉). Adore his supportive Uh huh's etc. Be well!
Oh wow! I wish I had watched this BEFORE I purchased my paints. I have just looked at the tubes. I have purchased Opaque, Semi transparent, Matt, Gloss...........Heavy bodied, Series 1, Series2. I had no idea what I was purchasing. What was I thinking!
Thank you so much for all you do for us. Your an awesome teacher for sure. Also, I received my Blue Jay print today. It was like Christmas for me. Thank you both so much. 😃
I have been painting with you for a little over a year now. Love your teaching style! I am enjoying The Beginners videos. I learn something from each of them…thank you for sharing your talent with us!
Hey, Cinnamon! Longtime viewer & artist. I'm primarily an oil painter, but have picked up acrylics now & getting good! I'm about to start teaching, in both medium & now watching your basics in order to have lots of info in my head 😊 You are a fount of knowledge! Also, I didn't you if you and your family made it to Ireland....
Thankyou so much cinnamon for all the clarity. I have golden high flow acrylic paints that i bought about 7 months back. When i squeezed out they were quite dry and clumpy. Do i thoroughly shake the bottle or add air flow medium or something?
Try and gently shake to integrate the pigment and binder. You can add high flow medium to a small test of whats in the bottle on your pallet. Put out just enough to see if the medium will restore the paint. If it does you can then use more to restore the bottle. You can also let the brand maker of the paint know as your paint should not be bad after 7 months.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEOS! I GET A LOT OUT OF THEM.. I SEE THAT YOU ARE A FAN OF THE SENNELIER ABSTRACT PAINTS. I AM JUST WONDERING IF YOU THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN THE LIQUITEX BASICS? THEY BOTH ARE AROUND THE SAME PRICE IN MY AREA AND BOTH ARE AVAILABLE AT BLICK. WHICH DO YOU THINK IS THE BETTER CHOICE? THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Cinnamon, you are amazing!!! I found your channel Christmas Eve and truly love your enthusiasm and honesty; thanks for all of this wonderful information about acrylic paints!
I am SO glad you are doing this course! It is so timely because I just decided I wanted to give acrylics a shot since November's Paletteful Packs box had a set of Amsterdam Standard acrylics in it. They are advertised as "medium body". I also have a basics set of Holbein Acrylic Gouche, how much does acrylic gouche differ from acrylic paint?
thank you for a terrific video and for your generosity in providing such a wealth of info for free! i am completely new to painting and your videos are so helpful, and you are great explaining really well with infinite knowledge and humor !! and many thanks to John for providing excellent video making skills!
Such an informative class! I really have such a better understanding of quality, density, and such with choosing acrylics! Thank you and John for this very special program. So many viewers during broadcast! YaY! -t
Hi Art Sherpa, you said Acrylic can look like Watercolours and can look like Oils but how do you paint and make look like an acrylic rather than other mediums. If that makes sense.
I am binge watching! I love everything! QUESTION SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT HEAVY METALS IN CERTAIN PIGMENTS? TITANIUM, ETC? I have usually chosen hues of those colors due to cost... I also pour...I want to improve my brush painting because there is so much I need to learn. I am 66 and finally following my dream and you have done an excellent job compiling all this knowledge. Thank you. Bless you
Artist pigments in Acrylic are coated so metals even Cadmium are safer for artist. You can still have an allergy but paints that pose any risks will have safety labels on them. You can also if you want even treat your water. golden artist colors has a crash solids kits and DIY plans if you want to protect water and your plumbing www.goldenpaints.com/crashpaintsolids

Your videos are awesome ! Thank you!!!
Thank you and most welcome 💛
