Hey Greg, just wanted to tell you THANKS for the recommendation for the rechargeable airbrush sprayer. TEMU has a nice green one for 21$! I didn't even realize such a critter even existed!---No noisy air compressor nor aggravating lengthy hose to work around. A huge bonus to my work! Thanks Tons!🤠👍 (edit: Wouldn't mind seeing you do a tutorial on how you mix your non airbrush acrylic paint for different artistic effects)
@@bostonbutterfly4473 They are also perfect for charcoal powder in drawing. As a 52 year old man I confess I felt compelled to tell the cashier at the pharmacy exactly why I was buying it! 🤣
You treated my OCD with kindness. As I watched the video I kept thinking to myself, “Okay I still see a harsh demarcation line between the yellow and what has become orange. Blend a little more here.” And it’s as we were communicating across space and time, because there you went! Absolutely beautiful! Probably not much of a compliment coming from me as I’m not even an artist. But my eyes are happy. 😂 Thank you, thank you!
An excellent lesson in blending paint. But in addition what brush to choose. And the demonstration will allow beginner to more advance students or artists Thank you very much.
Never mind about the brush dear 😅. I realise now I'd never been using enough paint and it was too dry to get that perfect effect ❤This is very very helpful, many thanks. What type of brush is that?
I'm surprised by how much water is used. Word on the street is that too much water may affect the paint binding, so I have always mixed some medium plus water (I do see your opinion in the video that the amount of water you use doesn't affect the binding).
That anti-water lie came from some UA-cam video some lady made. She blocked all comments so that people can’t correct her. You can literally use acrylic as a watercolor and the paint will work just fine. You can thin, glaze etc acrylics using water only and it will be JUST FINE
Interesting way of doing a piece of art! I ❤it n tks for sharing with us n keep up your amazing work and god bless u with healthy n joy in your life🎉❤😊
Anyone ever thought of using what's called a beauty blender sponge in situations like this? I've found that they can cut the blending time way down. I am still working on the technique but it seems promising.
Ingenious! Price wise it's terrific, but😅 it's a gamble. I'll tell you why. The metal part that cramps the bristles is not made to be soaked in water. Be very careful. It's usually a one hit wonder. You don't want loose bristles stuck to your art work. Too bad everything has been over priced these days. There are certain art brushes that are a hundred dollars or more!
Hi Mr Lowman 😊 only just seen your really good blending video , an area I struggle with being a newbie painter . Do you have a similar tutorial showing the blending technique , but using a larger canvas , say 40 x 50 cms and how to keep the paint wet on a larger canvas . It's just that it is easier for me to see on a larger canvas , but can not keep the paint wet . Thanks very much 😊
I always think my canvas is going to end up the same colour all over when I try to do this. I also had thought my paints weren’t thick enough, but now I will try adding water!
Very nice and beautiful and well done. In my painting, the sun is about half an inch, how i blend the sun that looks better? or how i can blend a small area in a painting? Thanks.
To blend small you can use a smaller brush like a round or filbert, get the bristles just wet enough to break up the paint, do circles on the color changes, and continuously wipe the bristles off when they fill w/ paint. Skip the last step and don't go over the area with a dry brush to avoid smearing/streaking. You can blend pretty much anything doing this, even smooth skin tones - ua-cam.com/video/tD3XEGaQwwg/v-deo.html
Some good info. Were the acrylics or canvas pre coated or mixed with titanium white paint? I know it can kill the vibrancy in colors but have also learned without it colors can also lose some brightness when dried
How do you know when you used to much water? I'm guessing the quality of the paint helps because they probably have better binding than the cheaper ones...idk. I tried painting couple years ago and my pictures kept cracking
Your paint should never crack, even after many years - applying it too thick or using a cheap brand is usually what causes that. A good paint will even allow for watered-down glazes and washes without cracking/peeling. You may want to try one of the paints below and shoot for a creamy consistency like shown in the video: Liquitex - amzn.to/3UX6XVz Winsor & Newton - amzn.to/3Telf2P Golden - amzn.to/3UW5HC4
Also folks remember gently while blender don’t push down on your brush. Gently glide across your paint. That was my down falls many many years ago. Happy painting ., it definitely is a stress reliever.
Something that has become very useful to me is a spray bottle that is mostly water, with a few drizzles of vegetable glycerin, and about 1/4 full of arcylic paint thinner medium. The liquid is transparently milky white. I can mist it over my palette, I spray it directly into cups, sometimes on to my brush, and rarely, I spray my whole canvas with it. This stops the "dusty" effect when I use too much water on my acrylic paint without me noticing. It keeps the pigments bound, extends the working time, is cheaper than using mediums directly, and somehow ends up working more smooth than water. I tend to do 100 glazes so overwatering arcylic could be a big problem for me. In fact, I would have made this gradient by glazing, and it would have been very frustrating and taken longer. 🤔I should buy a soft large brush, because all my really big brushes are rather stiff and meant for latex wall paint
Yes, once you lay the wet paint the key is to smooth everything out with large dry wash brushes. Keep switching them out when the bristles clog with paint so they stay dry and soft.
For a basic sky background I would probably do something like this with lighter blues at the bottom and a darker blues at the top: ua-cam.com/video/hpnVMVxA3zo/v-deo.html

Unless you are mixing up large cups of paint suggest to new painters to use small plastic cups

Total newbie here...i clearly do not have enough brushes! STUNNING!
Little tip, cheap makeup brushes are Amazing for blending. The foundation ones work great.

Thank you for th tutorial. It was plain and simple to follow.
Thank you for this tutorial as I find this the hardest to do without muddying the colours.👍🏻
Thank you for this tutorial. I really needed to learn this.
All the hard work you put into this piece really shows🎉
Water? Who knew! And I too need those larger brushes. Thanks for the lightbulb moment.
I use a small spray (mist) bottle and keep the canvas wet... Oh, and "PLENTY" of Blender Brushes!!!
Brilliant. Thank you. Blending acrylic paint is tricky, you make it look so easy ❤

Glad that it helped and I added the paint with a mop brush and blended it all out with dry wash brushes
I'm surprised by how much water is used. Word on the street is that too much water may affect the paint binding, so I have always mixed some medium plus water (I do see your opinion in the video that the amount of water you use doesn't affect the binding).
Exactly. What is the problem to people to just use medium?
