Thank you so much for this video. I am 69 years old and started learning after I retired, so I started last August 2022. I am looking forward to all of your teaching videos. I have a lot to learn because I am not gifted in knowing what to do. I have always had a interest but never had a lesson, just learning from videos. Thank you again for teaching beginners your technique. It is much appreciated.
Marcie Farris - I am the same! I retired Oct 2022. Painting (watercolor specifically) and sketching is my ultimate goal. I have zero talent or gift, but a great drive and determination. I can learn anything. Looking forward to the journey! Learning a lot here! My instructor actually told me to begin with Cinnamon’s beginners videos. YAY! Excited!
I have been fumbling along trying to paint and have just been so frustrated and soon realized I was not getting from art what I wanted. No wonder! I now see that like anything, you need the basic foundations upon which to build. I truly believed that most artists were just born with the knack to pick up a paintbrush and create beauty and I was clearly NOT one of them! Thank you so so much for your superb (free) education! I am excited now!
40 years ago I took art in high school. My teacher told me he’d pass me if I agreed to never take his class again. I did a group painting thing 2 years ago. Turned out not bad. Painted a few things and though it looked like a preschooler painted them, I had fun. Just found your site and am obsessed with your videos. I have a week off work and all I’m going to do are your videos. Thank you for your help!
This is such amazing content and all for free!! I'm someone who always hated art class and thought I had zero talent in that area. I've been creating paintings that others are so impressed by all thanks to your content. Thank you so much Cinnamon and John!
I believe everyone has talent! I think what happens is, we try to emulate someone else’s style or we compare ourselves to other people. This just ends in frustration and disappointment. You have to find your own style, your own spark, and only compare YOUR painting today, with the one YOU did yesterday. If you only try to be better than yourself….you will be amazed at what you can do. You can learn techniques from others, and get inspiration, and then let your own style shine! I hope you’re still painting away and enjoying yourself! And I agree, Cinnamon is amazing, you can tell when someone genuinely LOVES art, when they are just so excited, and bursting to give you their knowledge, because they want everyone to enjoy the gift. That sums Cinnamon up, perfectly! Happy painting ☺️
This is one the BEST art channels on YTube. This is basic which a lot of us didn't know. I started painting after watching your videos. It makes me feel confident enough to start a new skill when Cinnamon explains every fine detail and dumbs it down for novices like me. I wish Cinnamon and John more growth and Thank you for being kind and fun while being informative.
WOW WOW WOW!!! I loved this!! I love how you show us how to fix things. I love that you show us the "obvious" things, because it's not obvious to me as a beginner. You Rock 👏👏👏👏 ❤️💯❤️💯
BEST TUTORIAL I HAVE EVER SEEN! THIS INCLUDES 6-WEEKS PAID COLLEGE COURSE! 32 hours of class and painting did not give me this information!!!! I would definitely have paid better spent money to watch this $2 hour class! Thank you so much! Love the faith and encouragement you have in your students (one of whom I now am), and your perspective on talent!!! Lots of Love!-G
Thank you for actually teaching! There are so many out there on line claiming to teach but they are not breaking it down for beginners. I learned so much and plan to watch all of your series. I just came across this one first.

THIS!!! This series is exactly what i need. most videos here on youtube say for beginers, but jump into the deep end. you have explained all what gives me anxiety about learning a new craft. The name of a technique, how to do it, and what it is used for. i learn best when subjects are broken down, this is almost like a study guide. alot of videos i go to just leave me with questions, but you anytime you brought up a new thing, you imediatly immmediately explained it. this was super helpful and informative, and I cant wait to watched the next videos in the series
Cinnamon, also left message for you on Facebook after show, but need to tell you here that all your combined work on teaching us as a beginner already paid off for me because even though I am not a beginner, I already found at least 4 mistakes I have been making and you have cleared it up for me! I am ever grateful to you for making this course possible, and for understanding what we need! Thank you truly!
Spectacular presentation. So many things that I didn’t know… until I saw your tutorial. Now I’m going to set up my painting space and go through it a second time and do every step even if it means, I have to pause to get my steps painted. I can’t thank you enough for this fact, I think I’m gonna go back to the very first video you did and actually make notes. Yeah I’ll probably have a whole painting journal with all of your stuff, I feel like it’s a miracle that I found the two of you
I love the way you Cinnamon, and your husband present. You guys are so supportive of each other and very funny. Even when your husband makes a mistake with the syncing on the screen, his cheerful voice is so wonderful it just makes it ok and he is so funny. You guys make a fantastic team.
I will be watching this jewel again and doing these techniques! So much info in these beginner lessons, it's NOT just for beginners!! The Art Sherpa breaks it down and gives us the exact methods for using tools and techniques to paint successfully, every time! THANKS!♥
OMGosh, wish I had these courses five years ago when I began trying to paint again! Thank you so very much for giving us these techniques for free, they are so valuable to have. I know I will watch them over & over again until I am comfortable.
I am so glad I found you NOW, rather than after struggling with acrylics for years. Since I am just switching from watercolor to acrylic, this is the perfect time for me to learn these basics.
Oh Miss Cinnamon (or however it's spelled, forgive please... I've only seen a dozen or so eps) but Miss Lady Ma'am... THANK YOU for giving FREE art classes!!! You and John are blessing people with skills we could not otherwise aquire... We give any extra funds to homeless and such...101 people have lived with us in 15 years and we have 6 adopted and 2 natural born kiddos, so again... THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your gifts!! #MuchLove #TrueHero 🤟🏽🥰🤟🏽
I would like to say thank you so much for your channel from the way that I never had talent in my life but you make me feel that painting is not difficult I learn many things from you
Hi thank you for this series it’s just what I need. I’m 69 started an art class last year but I really struggle with acrylics so this is such a blessing. I’m hoping I will get to love acrylics as much as I do watercolour. Thank you 😊
HI! I heard you say in this video that you reply to questions and comments "after the fact." SO, I wanted to let you know that I have been binge watching your videos, not in any good order, and I have learned a lot! I didn't know that I didn't know some of these things. HA! I am a self taught artist and the artsy buy runs in my family. I'm 53 now and decided to get into more painting. Your videos are fun and very informative! Thank you so much for putting these out there and making them free! Best wishes. ❤❤
Hello there! YES what you say is True! It's great to hear that you've been binge-watching my videos. That's quite the artistic feast, isn't it? And I'm thrilled to be part of your self-taught artistic journey. Being 53 and embracing more painting is a beautiful step. Age is just a number when it comes to creativity, and your family's artsy genes are surely cheering you on! I'm glad you've found my videos fun and informative. Your kind words make all the hard work worth it. Remember, it's never too late to discover new things about art, especially when the artsy bug has been buzzing in your family. Keep enjoying the videos, painting away, and let that creativity flow. Your enthusiasm inspires me, and I'm here if you need any guidance or just a friendly artistic chat. Thank you for being part of our vibrant community, and best wishes on your painting journey! With heartfelt appreciation, Cinnamon ❤❤
Thank you, Cinnamon, for these wonderful tutorials !!! And thanks, too, to John for his fab camera work to enable us to see the best angles of what you are doing. 🤗🤗
This is amazing. Things I would have never even realized I didn't know. I fell a little behind this week watching but I am still loving this series. Thank you guys so much!
That was truly amazing. I've been painting for years, and I've been told I have talent my whole life. That doesn't make an iota of difference without these skills. I am super excited to see what happens next time I paint a canvas once I finish these beginner courses. Its awesome to see what a great team you and John make! Thank you for making these for us.
Wow! I have been painting self taught for over a year and there were two things I learned during this video that would of saved me so much time, paint and frustration. Thank you! Really loved this lesson.
Thanks you so much for all this helpful info that we can see work in real life situations- very helpful! Your husband is so sweet too! You both are so enjoyable to watch/listen to.
I watched this from beginning to end and I have to say this is a treasure trove of knowledge! I’ve just started to paint and encountered everything that you’ve discussed. 😊 I now know how to deal with those issues. Thank you for the encouragement because I lack confidence in painting knowing that I’m the first one in my family to do this.😊 I’ll watch this again and I’ll do it with you. You are a great teacher and I will always be grateful for your generosity.❤️
Cinnamon and Jon are so easy to talk to and you don’t feel awkward about asking questions about anything xxxx I would just like to thank you both as you are so easy to approach xx💖💖
This is so informative it’s needs to be watched multiple times to be absorbed. Practice, practice, practice. The next step in learning. From head knowledge to KNOWLEDGE.
I have always wanted to paint. But felt like I couldn't even draw a straight line. Thank you for the lessons! I am going through and watching the different videos and then when I get the money together we'll buy my supplies and try to paint along with you. Thank you and John for all your work
This class was fabulous! I will be watching more than once and practicing these techniques. I am a complete beginner to painting on canvas. I embarked on this new adventure as therapy for myself as my husband just passed away a few weeks ago. I need an outlet for my grief. Your course came along at just the right time - thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
Deepest sympathy Rebecca Usher 🙏 my heart is broken for you and your loss. I am so glad that you have found somewhere & something to help channel your grief, these two are so awesome, clever & comedic and I too have learnt so much, long may the tutorial comedy run. You are not alone, you will be in my thoughts and I wish you all the best on your new venture/chapter and Artistry. Peace 🤗😌
Dear Cinnamon and John , thanks you two lovely couple so much for this super helpful lesson. I😅 from now my Painting would be much much better. You are super wonderful ❤
I didn't even realize how much I needed this lesson. I can't believe how many of my issues are water related. So much valuable info. Yes, it will make my painting sessions much more fun and a lot less frustrating. 😊 Thank you so much.
I just retired this year and just found your site I took painting in college and loved it then and I guess at 75 I'm going to try it again your class is so much fun thank you
Thanks so much to both of you for all the work you put into these videos. I’m very creative person, but I’ve never had the skills to put my ideas down on paper. This series has been super helpful.
Thank you for this course, I took a "painting class" from our local library, and thought I could paint cards as another avenue to making cards, especially for scenes I am unable to find stamps and dies for. So I started looking on UA-cam for information and found you. I just finished this video. Wow lots of info! Thanks.
Just finished watching this video. It’s very informative. So many great tips. I’m going to go back and watch the previous videos before I move forward. Thank you so much to both of you for doing this wonderful beginner painting techniques. 😊😊
This is so informative, thanks Cinnamon and John , just wonderful what you do, I've learned so much from you my Friend, thanks so much, great lesson 🎨🎨🎨👍❤❤❤❤❤
It's so difficult to find information that a complete beginner needs, and you have done a fantastic job. I started with acrylics a couple of years ago and struggled a lot with not knowing how to prime my acrylic paper, how much water I needed, how to load my brush with paint properly. I was used to watercolour, so it was a very different experience! Thank you so much for this series and your beautiful energy; you've given me that spark to paint with acrylics again.
These are excellent episodes. Thank you so much for making them free. While I've been a drawing/painting artist for over 50 years, mainly in oils, then in dot art, I've been wanting to paint some plates I have with acrylic flowers and the information on brushes and strokes (as well as everything else) was outstandingly useful. In dot art, I learned the hard way about using a colored pencil instead of chalk (learned a while ago about lead pencils on canvas) on my canvas panels to trace my designs, as I paint primarily on a glossy black canvas (saves when paint boo-boos need to be erased with a q-tip). Colored pencils stick while chalk requires repeated strokes that end up denting the surface.
Thank you so much for this and all your tutorials! I'm a beginner painter and every problem you've mentioned, I've already experienced! I'm learning so much from these and all of your other tutorials. I hope each one will help me become a better artist.
Thank you! I have been painting with acrylics casually since early 2020. - it’s great to come beck to this tutorial when I need to get back to basics and practice.
Thank you so much for this absolutely comprehensive tutorial into acrylics. I am just starting in this medium having always used watercolour. You have managed to teach a beginner like myself all I need to know about beginning acrylics. Thanks again from UK
Cinnamon I love your new looks and the new way you’re doing your show. You make everything look so easy. I am going to get my brushes and paint again because you inspire me.
Awesome lesson! Great information and techniques to address some issues I’ve experienced . Just started acrylic painting 4 months ago. Thank you so much!
I absolutely love your videos! My 8 yr old daughter got an acrylic paint set with easel and she's been watching you videos and has learned so much. Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much for your videos!!I started painting again for the first time since high school in early 2021 as a coping skill for my depression. Wish I had never quit! But I never painted landscapes before and I hardly EVER touched acrylics. Having so much fun learning and trying new stuff!
Wow! Great video!! I have been painting for about 5 years & didn't know a lot of these techniques! Awesome video Cinnamon! I will stop wasting paint now! Yippie!! Thank you
When I paint I use two water cups. One is my color rinse, where I shake off the majority of the color, and the second is my cleaning rinse where I clean off the muddy paint water. The second stays transparent-ish and I change water when the second one becomes too dirty. I find I have to change water less often. I also use the second one for loading the brush when thinning the paint. No icky water to tint the good paint, lol. Much love ❤, you guys are awesome!
Wow. This is awesome. I have been painting for quite a while in many mediums, yet I still have been struggling with acrylic. At so many points throughout this video, I was not only able to see where I had failed previously, but how I could fix the problem(s). You also showed me so many ways that I have been making acrylic painting harder on myself than it needs to be. Now I can put this to good use and move forward to creating great paintings - and learning from some of the not-so-great paintings. ;) Thank you so much for all the wonderful, helpful, useful information - and for the encouragement. :)
Wonderful class. Thank you for this information. I am going to start painting and am glad I watched these first set of classes before I buy or start doing anything. Invaluable info !
Just want to say, ‘thank you so much for this very informative instructional video!’ I tend to use too much paint I’ve been trying to correct it on my own. I was painting in oil or watercolor. Two totally different animals. Acrylic has really aggravated me to say the least. It dries so quickly or it gets gummy, (I think that’s my using too much paint) Or who knows what else might be trying to make me decide to just give up acrylic painting. Needless to say, everything, and I mean everything that you taught me today is more than I could’ve learned in months and months of just struggling along. I have figured out a couple of things on my own but not enough yet to make painting w/acrylics as enjoyable as oil and watercolor is for me. Now… I am hopeful at the very least. Thank you again!! You are an exceptional teacher with great attention to detail. I personally love that because technique works every time. As a retired ballet technique instructor of 45 years, I would never bother to choreograph anything unless the dancer knows the techniques behind every step in the choreography. A dancer is made by first learning proper technique. I would venture to say It would be most useful for an artist to also follow that rule. Even if they follow no other rules. Lol My hat is off to you & your teaching style. I appreciate you for doing what you’re doing by starting with very basic, but most important lessons that will teach good technique that will last a lifetime. I just started watching your channel today but you can bet I’ll be back every day until I’ve watched all of your videos and will continue to watch as long as you are producing them. Oh, I don’t wanna leave your husband out cuz he also did a nice job as your videographer. So thank you John for all the button pushing and all the muting! I for one, appreciate that! (especially the hairdryer muting) The two off you are an awesome duo. With y’all to help me, I’m sure I will be able to find my Acrylic Goldilocks zone.💜
I loved this class. Here is a tip for other new painters. I found canvas boards at Dollar Tree for $1.25. I wouldn't use these for actual paintings, but the one I used for this class worked great. These are good for practicing brush strokes, shapes, etc. At lunch today, going to buy a few more. I want to use them to practice blending; and for my next class "Brush Strokes". I also want to use them for practicing grass, color mixing. I also learned the importance of getting a good brush - I bought some on sale at Hobby Lobby - they are in the trash. Thanks Cinnamon
These lesson are so amazing and so informative. Just broke my arm, so I can’t paint for a couple of months. Still enjoying the lessons and can’t wait till I can again hold a brush. Thanks Cinnamon and John
Greetings from Australia, thank you so much for this information. Very helpful for me as I have never had a lesson, I am completely self taught artist.

Happy i could help!
Thanks you so much for all this helpful info that we can see work in real life situations- very helpful! Your husband is so sweet too! You both are so enjoyable to watch/listen to.
So sorry I missed this but THANK YOU so much for your support
Excellent info. First I've seen in 30 yrs ❤
That is a huge really kind comment to read at the start of a day thank you so much
I watched this from beginning to end and I have to say this is a treasure trove of knowledge! I’ve just started to paint and encountered everything that you’ve discussed. 😊 I now know how to deal with those issues. Thank you for the encouragement because I lack confidence in painting knowing that I’m the first one in my family to do this.😊 I’ll watch this again and I’ll do it with you. You are a great teacher and I will always be grateful for your generosity.❤️
your awesome’
Cinnamon and Jon are so easy to talk to and you don’t feel awkward about asking questions about anything xxxx
I would just like to thank you both as you are so easy to approach xx💖💖
This is so informative it’s needs to be watched multiple times to be absorbed. Practice, practice, practice. The next step in learning. From head knowledge to KNOWLEDGE.
Thank you so much 💜
I am so thankful that you are making lessons for beginners please make a video on painting different bushes with beautiful flowers.

I’m saving this. I hope you don’t mind. As a beginner I have so much to learn and you’re an excellent teacher. Thank you.
Totally don’t mind!
These videos are a lifesaver, Cinnamon. Thank you & John so very much!!!
I have always wanted to paint. But felt like I couldn't even draw a straight line. Thank you for the lessons! I am going through and watching the different videos and then when I get the money together we'll buy my supplies and try to paint along with you. Thank you and John for all your work
So glad to help!
Peace 🤗😌
I'm sorry for your loss.

You're so welcome! Ashley Welch That is awesome thank you
This was an awesome class. I sure learned a lot a lot of stuff that other artists don’t tell you. Thank you so much! 🥰
This is so informative, thanks Cinnamon and John , just wonderful what you do, I've learned so much from you my Friend, thanks so much, great lesson 🎨🎨🎨👍❤❤❤❤❤
another great lesson. loving this course.
You are so welcome! 🌸
Omg what an amazing class, thank you so much! On another note, you guys are so cute!!! ❤
I appreciate you sharing all your knowledge. It is wonderful, I truly enjoyed and learned so much from this class.
You are so welcome Paula That is awesome thank you
GREAT CLASS! YOU ARE 'THE BEST' TEACHER ON THE PLANET! THANK YOU!

I had to split this into 2 parts, but glad I watched the entire vid. Great stuff!
thats great!
I have been painting over a year now, and I just now learned how to prevent and fix my main blending problem! Thank you!
You are totally and completely welcome
Thank you so much for this and all your tutorials! I'm a beginner painter and every problem you've mentioned, I've already experienced! I'm learning so much from these and all of your other tutorials. I hope each one will help me become a better artist.
Wonderful!
I've been painting off and on for years and taking classes. This was the most useful and helpful class I've taken.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much that is very nice to read moonmad7
You are so very welcome 💜
Thank you so much for passing along so much knowledge again and especially the boost of confidence at the end. Much appreciated!
My pleasure!🤍
Thank you for all of the amazing information. As an older beginner this has helped in so many ways. You are amazing!!!❤
You are so welcome!💖
The lightening tip? OMG, I would NEVER have even thought of that, thanks! ❤️
Happy to help!💛
Cinnamon I love your new looks and the new way you’re doing your show. You make everything look so easy. I am going to get my brushes and paint again because you inspire me.

So far my absolute favorite video of the course. So many issues I have run into are being addressed here. Thank you SO much!
Great to hear! and welcome 💕
Awesome lesson! Great information and techniques to address some issues I’ve experienced . Just started acrylic painting 4 months ago. Thank you so much!
You are so welcome, and I hope this is really helping 🌼
I absolutely love your videos! My 8 yr old daughter got an acrylic paint set with easel and she's been watching you videos and has learned so much. Thank you ❤️
That is awesome! I love hearing about the little brushes learning to paint 💚
Thank you so much for your videos!!I started painting again for the first time since high school in early 2021 as a coping skill for my depression. Wish I had never quit! But I never painted landscapes before and I hardly EVER touched acrylics. Having so much fun learning and trying new stuff!
You are a great teacher. Thank you so much.
Thanks and you're welcome too 💝
Wow! Great video!! I have been painting for about 5 years & didn't know a lot of these techniques! Awesome video Cinnamon! I will stop wasting paint now! Yippie!! Thank you
Glad it was helpful! Tina Chambers Thank you so much
Amazingly helpful!!! Basic things that I have struggled with explained!!
Glad it was helpful!🌷
When I paint I use two water cups. One is my color rinse, where I shake off the majority of the color, and the second is my cleaning rinse where I clean off the muddy paint water. The second stays transparent-ish and I change water when the second one becomes too dirty. I find I have to change water less often. I also use the second one for loading the brush when thinning the paint. No icky water to tint the good paint, lol. Much love ❤, you guys are awesome!
Great watercolor management strategy !!!
Now I can put this to good use and move forward to creating great paintings - and learning from some of the not-so-great paintings. ;)
Thank you so much for all the wonderful, helpful, useful information - and for the encouragement. :)
You are absolutely most welcome 💚
Thank you so much Cinnamon & John. Lots of great info in this Video 🎨
Love this segment! My dog sheds like crazy and gets his hairs in my paintings all the time!
Thank you so much to you and John. The closeups were wonderful. So informative for me.
Wonderful class. Thank you for this information. I am going to start painting and am glad I watched these first set of classes before I buy or start doing anything. Invaluable info !
Wonderful!, and you're most welcome 💝
You are most welcome 💝
WOW so much info, I'm glad I can look back for tips. I made a lot of notes!!
