Absolutely true!!
Malayalam cinema has been giving unconventional and off beat cinemas before the rest of the industry even started thinking about it. It was just another cinema for us.
I remember watching 'deshadanakkili karayarilla' which talked about romance Between women. Also one such movie I remember is 'Iyer the Great'.
It's crazy thinking about it now.
When manjummal Boys is celebrated all over south, for Malayalees it was just another good movie

When I watched first time, I thought going by the dialect in cook’s dialogues he is someone from a rather modern time and got stuck in chathan and Thevan’s time, sort of like back in time. But there weren’t any time distortions, they were all in the same time line.

i think chathan didn't forget about the kadukkan, instead that's how the "shape-shifting" happens, like it won't be as orginal as how it is in real , there will be always an alteration or distortion whenever chathan shifts into another being, everytime there will be something missing out, but hard to find what that is.

Great question, I've thought about it, and it might be a little illogical if we think about it rationally. Still it's a story including a mythical deity so it's better to assume it could operate like that. Might be a mistake but still passable as a 'could be'.
