I assume they still have that limiter in place given that it appears to have only gone 150mph
The Nevera is such an amazing piece of kit. Beats a car specifically designed for launches to the line (not to mention the F1 car) while being as well-specced as a Bentley. Applause for Mate Rimac.
How warm were the tyres on the F1 car? And how new/old? I used to race single seaters and ran on secondhand slicks. When cold, or even just a bit warm, I could keep my right foot still and simply curl my toes to light up both rear tyres. Similarly, I could turn the steering wheel and nothing would happen. Once up to full operating temperature, the grip was incredible, but that took about a lap or two....

@afokabest the Venom GT geared for top speed though? That's like saying Koenigsegg's are bs because they don't run super quick 1/4 times. And the Venom still traps like 165mph in the 1/4 and is RWD. The Nevera is obviously at a huge advantage being electric with 100% torque at 0 RPM plus AWD. I'm not a big fan of the Venom just stating facts. I am a huge Koenigsegg fan though.

The redbull motogp bike gave the Rimac a run for its money. Danny Pedrosa won a race and was only 1/2 a cars length in losing on the other two. I'm surprised at the f1 car.

Tbh, that better be a smooth ass road, I'd be worried about the tires the most as that'd likely pose the most danger to the driver. At least they're all mid-rear engined, so if something blows in that department, it shouldn't impede your visibility.

a modern hybrid F1 car with warm tires would be much more interesting to see. But nevertheless, F1 cars biggest weakness is their launch, since they have a manual clutch, no traction control, rear wheel drive and cold tires. They are designed for track use, grand prix tracks in particular.

Batteries don't last forever...neither do brakes or electric motors. Electric cars are not any cheaper to service in the long run. To have usable range you probably have to change the whole battery pack every 4-5 years which will cost as much as changing the whole motor on a normal car.
@300mrwa 2010 wants their information back! Most manufacturers have 8-10 years/150-200k miles warranty on battery and motors. Good luck getting such a warranty on a gas guzzler... Example: Model S/X Plaid have 1020 horsepowers. You can launch it non stop every day for 8 years/150k miles and still have full warranty on battery and motors. And solid state million mile batteries are expected to arrive soon.

My uncle have this old isuzu diesel pick up with zero mileage on it. The old champ been running for so long it’s odometer flipped back to zero, he recently do some restoration work on it the whole build cost no more than 3k.

Also, 93% of all sold new cars in Norway are electric, so it won't take long before fossil fueled cars will be something belonging to the previous generation, or collectors

Ofc all of that are the worst case scenario, the best scenario you mightn’t even need to replace your battery for more than decade. But what’s the worst case scenario on ice car? Even the worst case scenario on ice still wouldn’t cost you more than half of your car worth in 3 years. Don’t get me wrong, ev are great. And I would switch to ev sooner or later. Strange comparison: The F1 car is a hybrid with a 1.6 liter combustion engine. Sure, in a drag race that is not a wining system, but in a longer race track the Rimac Nevera and the McMurtry would not look that good.
Put a 90 at the end, a short straight then another 90 and back up to the start line. That would be too easy for the macMurty esp the second development car with 20% more mechanical grip. Oh that macmurty is also limited to 150mph. It would still win.
F1 cars arent made for acceleration and insane top speed they are made for high speed cornering its like which can fly higher a fighter jet or a space shuttle
Why do people do this with F1 cars? They are not remotely designed for drag racing, you wanna really see how they compare, put all 3 on the track as Silverstone and then see if either of them can get close to where an F1 car is designed to shine.
The McMurtry had a 150mph speed limiter, which is why it lost that race. Way faster from the a standstill thanks to that fan, but as it spent the last 2-3 seconds on the speed limiter, it lost out. Not that the Rimac isn't astonishing for a practical car.
I thought the Mcmurtry could get into the 7s even hitting its gear limit halfway down the strip? I would have thought the fan would make its launches very consistent so am surprised it wasn't half a second quicker here 🤔

The McMurtry had a 150mph speed limiter, which is why it lost that race. Way faster from the a standstill thanks to that fan, but as it spent the last 2-3 seconds on the speed limiter, it lost out. Not that the Rimac isn't astonishing for a practical car.
