- These Mini PC's are getting wild. The GEEKOM XT12 Pro is a great example of how manufacturer's are squeezing every ounce of power out of these newer chips without sacrificing thermals.
I asked GEEKOM if I could review this before deciding whether to sell it in my shop, so they sent me one!

That mini PC is better than 50% of normal PCs💀💀
It's insane.
Idk if ur complaining or praising but either or they are still pretty powerfull chips and tbh when I'm trying to get my mom a PC she definitely prefers the smaller form factor and with the egpu support it rlly in my opinion is prolly the best of both laptop and PC world
@@AndrewKuropas External GPUs are absurdly expensive. If there's any case where she would need a discrete GPU, you'd be better off just getting a notebook (or making her an ITX build, if you're up for it.) $629 is pretty competitive pricing for the mini PC but you're going to paying four figures for a halfway decent eGPU, which is insane.

@@dc8836 yeah true but still nice of em to put it there
As someone who just needed a good replacement for an old work PC, I really appreciate the thoroughness of the review.
Glad it was helpful. Replacing dated office PC's before the upcoming Windows 10 EOL is my main reason for wanting to stock these.
Now that eGPUs are becoming more and more affordable, you could get a $200 eGPU enclosure and a 1660 Super to easily turn one of these Mini PC's gaming capable
@@RobloxianX
I'm guessing those enclosures cost a lot less on Alibaba or AliExpress.
Just the waiting time involved.
@@RobloxianXNever heard of'm before, what's an eGPU?
@@Revan058 Basically, it's a special enclosure with a PCIe slot and a PSU, usually 500-700 watts where you can put in any GPU you want, and simply connect it to any laptop as long as it has Thunderbolt 3 or newer.
It's great for Mini PC's, because you can get one of these with the Iris XE graphics, and then plug in a 4070 and get great performance.
You can get a portable 17" Monitor, a Mini PC, and an eGPU. Basically a laptop but better in every regard.
I wouldnt recommend any GPU over 600 USD though, unless if the Mini PC has an occulink port which is MUCH better for an eGPU, but they are hard to come by now.
For example, right now I have been running a maxed out 2019 16" MBP with an i9-9980HK, an RX 5600M, 64GB of RAM, and 8TB of storage for almost 3 years now. But, I also use a Razer X Chroma (the eGPU enclosure) with a Reference 6900 XT when I am at home to get the best possible performance that you can on an Intel MacBook, since that's the fastest officially supported eGPU setup Apple mentions on their website.
That basically means that at home I can get the speed of a desktop 3080, and when I decide to go anywhere I have the speed of a Laptop 3060 GPU. (But do NOT hotwire them, shut your computer down before plugging in or unplugging them)
They're pretty neat!
The change from Compaq's tanky desktops in the mid-90s to smol form factor desktop is amazing.
I've become obsessed with these things
Shit's more powerful than my "gaming" laptop 💀
Shit's more powerful than my 5800x in every program I use (besides rendering video which my 4090 eats up)
My 4600g is trembling lol @@SalemTechsperts
It's a full power desktop CPU so that isn't too surprising. Intel iGPUs aren't the best but as The Greatest Technician That's Ever Lived showed, it'll handle most things that aren't super demanding. Depending on how old your gaming laptop is, the Iris iGPU could be competitive with an older discrete mobile GPU.
Can ya make vid connecting ur 4090 to it😊@@SalemTechsperts
@@dc8836nope its a mobile cpu
Love the long form videos man ❤
Glad you enjoy them! I've been working on quite a few recently, hence the lack of brain rot as of late 😂
Holy crap dude. More ports than the entire East Coast _and_ clean design meant to be worked on? _With captive case screws?!_ What a find!
UA-cam can try to force as many ads on me as possible and I will never consider them.
But when *_THE GREATEST TECHNICIAN THAT'S EVER LIVED_* advertises something, you bet your ass I'll listen.
Also the USB-C ports supporting eGPUs is freaking awesome!!! This thing is like an Apple Mac mini, but smaller, with more ports, and without the usual Apple "un"serviceability bullcrap.
I'm a new subscriber from Cameroon and you gave me the passion for computer repairs and now I've even started repairing old computers just as my old hp dual core so thanks very much ❤❤🙏
Ok, now hook a 4090 to it. lol
That’s the goal 🤫
I'll have to watch it again. I couldn't hear your voice over the singing of angels.

Wake up aspiring technicians, cause the Greatest Technician has ever lived uploaded
I like your honest recommendations will look for this when I get a new PC
It’s crazy how far computers have come from the 90s and 2000s.
Good stuff - I loved the GEEKOM A5 and this looks even better
I used to use an old mini thinkcentre that honestly worked pretty well, mini computers are swag as hell
Thanks for the review. I'll get one. Good video 👍
Didn't expect you to also be the greatest Hoovies Garage subscriber that's ever lived
Hecking love seeing that Hoovie's Garage video on one of the tabs too
We're glad to hear that you're satisfied with our GEEKOM mini PC😊
Awesome review! I'm digging these longer videos!
The Greatest AD That's Ever Lived (and so satisfying)
YAY!!! We both like the Car Wizard!
Any insight on the thermals and how easy these guys are to clean? Would you recommend getting one for a more industrial place where cigarette smoke, dust and general gooch are unavoidable? (the older pc there screams for sweet death every day)
a warning to anyone considering one of these: if one of the non-standard components (ie, the CPU cooler) fails, replacement parts are basically impossible to find…
So beautiful PC! 😤🥹
Hey great vid hope we see more of those about products that you like or we should buy over X company etc etc.
I would highly consider buying it if I lived in the US/UK/AU, what a beast of a pc🤯
Now we need a mpc like this but for gaming
What's your experience with Minisforum? I've had their UM780XTX for about a month-I specifically chose it because I wanted the highest power APU (and explicitly for gaming) that would fit in a 5x5" form factor-and have been pretty impressed with everything but the wifi.
I'm actually trying to remember if you've ever done a short about them.
Love the longer videos
Thank you, I love making them!
Really wish I knew about this sooner. My nearly 4 year old Thinkpad T15G series decided to have an internal bus failure 0002 BIOS beep error requiring a whole new system board. After much troubleshooting with re-seating everything from the RAM to the battery, nvme drives, and even the CMOS battery, I built my current 12th gen i9 desktop which costs about the same as the mini PC you showcased while being massive in size. 0002 beep error codes are sometimes linked to any of the devices mentioned. Lenovo diagnostics turned up absolutely nothing. RIP in pupperoni Thinkpad. Long live current desktop.
This mini box of speed shows that size doesnt matter, and that small things do pack a big punch
Its amazing how good mini PC's are these days!
I might consider using this. Not bad at all, and that form factor, though!!
Did I hear eGPU connection?
This mini pc is better than most of the pre builts, brand pcs, and laptops for its price, this is what people should buy.
Lmao that ASUS warranty highlight. Damn them for doing shitty things like that.

Hey its the Wizard! From hoovie's garage! Good taste
This is now on my imeadiate bucket list, just gotta find a decent 4k screen and i am ready to go
Love this
$629 is surprisingly generous pricing, I was expecting this to be hitting near $1000. It does seem bizarre that people would need as much power as a 12900 can produce but not need discrete graphics, but I guess there's plenty of use-cases. Video encoding and the like are all CPU-bound, aren't they?
I'd consider one for music production, where fast single thread performance is paramount.
@@mir-dr Awesome, thank you for the information!
The 12th gen version of this seems to out of stock or unavailable in the uk but they are selling what looks like the same unit with a revised 13th gen cpu in black where I am based in the UK which is interesting af! The fact they have egu support and captive screws and full upgradability is really impressive for the price. I’m ordering the 13th gen one to test it out! Thanks for the recommendation my dude 👍 (sorry I couldn’t order one from you! I would have if I could have!)
Don’t sweat it brother! Let me know how it goes with the 13th gen!
@@SalemTechsperts I have received it and I can confirm it’s an impressive unit! More so than I was expecting and it looks nice too. Very happy with the price to performance and that egpu support is awesome. Thanks for recommendation!
My question is… how well does it run Solidworks because my gaming laptop kicks into like 90% overdrive when I try to run the latest Solidworks
@SalemTechsperts Will this work for editing 4k videos better than a M1 Macbook?
6:20 even GPT knows who's the GTTEL. Noice!
Did intel buy the skus from geekom and stamped their brand on them or the other way around? because I have an i5 variant from intel.
I’m speculating here, but it looks to be Intel sold their NUCs to GEEKOM, then GEEKOM tuned the wattage to make them super power efficient.
Definitely impressed with this little beast~ I'm very curious what kind of performance it can manage with an e-GPU enclosure.
The only comment on this video that matters.
100000000%
Great video, thanks. Q: is the RAM upgradeable to DDR5?
No. From what I gather the RAM is DDR4 mostly due to the form factor not being able to properly cool with DDR5
I wonder if I could fit the motherboard inside my laptop, then again if I'm gonna do something like that I should probably do a framework to make it upgradable
Why not? The MacBook Air at launch in 2012 was already small enough to easily fit into one of these cases.
All I need, is to know if it can play final fantasy 14... and on what settings...
Coming your store in world cup 2024 !
I love how you say SLOT
Its so small and yet easy to work on. Other companies have no excuses to make their stuff so hard to work on.
Fun fact, there are 8 major ports on the east coast
Ventilation looks clean and ready to take some scrotum dust.
Can it do 4k tentacle cor-
I mean can it di QHD streaming?
I recently bought an intel nuc laptop with similar specs during a liquidation sale for the same price
I7-12700H, ARC A550M 8gb, 32 GB DDR5.
I plan on joining the air force soon, so i wanted something portable that would allow light gaming and productivity.
it seems good so far, i want to use it for photo editing and rendering but i have not stress tested it yet vs my desktop.
( intel themselves made the laptop i never knew they made whole machines like that and apparently no one else did because they were being lqidated lol but and insane deal for me it was $150 off because of the liquidation)
According to Salem Techsperts, the AMD APU variant will come out later this month. That's the best alternative to gaming without a GPU
@ViolentCabbage-ym7ko yeah this thing does look great especially if the amd variant is good
But i just feel like im not the target demographic lol
If i wanted it to be portable i would need a keyboard and a small monitor so a laptop is a better alternative for me just for the all in one experience
@@thecultofcagedMake sense. This portable CPU is meant mainly for work.
I recently picked up an SER6 6900HX, I kind of wonder how it compares
Will you make a video about this beast with an external gpu plugged in😫
In the greates technician that ever lived we trust
Is there an AMD APU variant for gaming in 1080p?
Yeah they have an upcoming A8 model that I’ll hopefully be getting my hands on later this month.
@@SalemTechsperts Cool! Can't wait for the review👍
In terms of mini pc which cpus manufacture is better amd or Intel?
Intel is better for productivity and single-thread apps, AMD is better for gaming.
@@SalemTechsperts I wonder if they will sell a mini pc with the r7 7800x3d
I got my grandma a NUC with 13gen i3
It was better than i expected, I'd like to see mini PC with AMD 7040 series CPU. That would be a powerhouse. Right now I could daily drive Framework 13 because of that Ryzen 7 CPU
Do the eGPU test. We need the information!
Hoovies Garage, JayzTwoCents and Linus, 👌 you also have impeccable taste in YT videos.
Gamers Nexus would be the 2nd Jay 3rd 😎
The power of a sponsored video
5:01 To be fair, when Intel says "35 watts", what they actually mean is add 50-100 watts on top of that number.
as you said, only problem is its not the greatest for gaming, and tbh while cramming everything into mini size is impressive, a normal pc still wins in looks
i love salem techspurts...
I wonder how it would game if you paired it with an external GPU
You mentioned it's upgradable. And you used it for quite a while as is, and seemed to be impressed. SO, HOW would the "Greatest IT Guy In The World" MAX IT OUT??
Memory, Ram, EVERYTHING?
Remember, with great power comes great responsibility
I WANT ONE!
Ayyy!!! Fancy seeing you here!
Computer Kettle Nice!
I know it's already mentioned in the video that it's not meant for gaming, but will it run a single-player game like The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, which was launched in 2015.
I wonder how it does with an external gpu
Id love some game benchies
I live in the uk and the price for me is like £490 which is pretty good for a mini pc like that
Can you add another ssd drive? Or is there only one slot?
1:39 you can add a SATA SSD in the slot next to the NVMe. There is also, oddly enough, another SATA connector but no ribbon or mount is included.
Does this support RTX or have graphics card?......
Its 2am but im here 🎉
I’ve always loved the idea of a mini workstation but have absolutely no need for one having a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and a gaming PC.
Hook it up to the back of your TV and use it as a server, there's always an excuse to buy cool stuff!
@@SalemTechsperts definitely considered it! Especially with a lower powered mini PC, would make a great emulator box and movie hub.
Okay but how can i connect my gpu as another box
which voice do you use for these vids?
I might get one just to have one…
Join the club, this one is now my office PC which I didn't know I needed. Typing this comment from it right now because it's faster than my Gaming PC at everything but games 😭
@@SalemTechspertsTried using an eGPU with the workstation yet?
@@penguinsushi8442 I'm planning on attaching my 4090 to it via NVMe to PCIe and making a video on it
if they made graphics chips this small and cool that would flip the gaming world upside down
Indeed. The issue is and always will be, cooling.
Wouldnt an amd cpu be better for these? They have some verry power efficient options which would work with minimal cooling and having a better igpu wpuld make them a bit more worthwhile
How much is it and can it replace my laptop for rts n old games
I am Canada, so 699? Hmmm
Big things really do come in small packages
bruh this thing is better then my laptop, like i knew my laptop was outdated but do i just cry at this point?
Yes, we cry together
It's portability makes it easy to steal
Good thing for that Kensington lock!

@@SalemTechsperts I have one of these GEEKOM XT 12 pros and i tried it. Works great
I think I bought lube jelly from the same company that made his portable monitor
When you told us the price, i was like no way. Thays so cheap!! 😂 Given the parts used in the build, and the form factor, that is a bargain.
