I had an SQ gas dryer that lasted over 49 years before it was damaged by smoke and water by a house fire. The GE washer... well, lasted only a few years between motor/clutch/transmission/pump replacements. Most people would have replaced it ten times during those 49 years.
I was an Appliance repairman for 27 years and this video is accurate. I would buy either one of those washing machines. Anything else is a waste of your money.
Thanks for this comparison. I have the TR-7 and love it. Clean clothes and no repairman. Went through junky Maytag and LG and got so frustrated with the low quality and need for repair.
Great video explaining the differences between the TC and TR series. Our family has had the previous generation of the TC series (AWN) since 2013 and have absolutely no issues with the washer or dryer. I highly recommend the TC series if you are looking for an old school washer
When my Whirlpool top loader from 1978, found the original receipt taped to the back of it when we bought the house it came with, started leaking grease out of the transmission and I got rid of it in 2010. My brother gave me his Speed Queen top loader that he was replacing with a Samsung. His Samsung broke 4 years later, and he asked me if the Speed Queen was still working, I told him it was working great. That was a good washing machine, didn't have any issues with it, have no idea how old it was but it was working fine when we sold the house in 2015. Definitely was a little harder on the clothes with the stainless-steel drum vs the porcelain drum the Whirlpool had. Nothing is built to last like it was back in the day...
Purchased (2018) a TR5 washer because I wanted the commercial washer dependability. But after 6 years of normal use the unit developed a knock. I called a local repair technician. He diagnosed a bad bearing. He said it was not cost effective of $1155 verses $1429 for a new unit. The tech said the drum bearing and transmission and tub would have to be replaced.Does this sound right. I had expected a longer life. at least 10 to 15 years.
@@gloriamontgomery6900 you won’t regret it. Its a tank . I have two. The front loader and the tr 7. Im happy with both. I got tired of failing washers after a few years
I purchased the TC500WN dryer and matching washer. I love the washer but hate the dryer. It has an open lint catcher, every time I open the door something falls in there and it’s full of lint. I purchased it in 2021, today is 2024 and my dryer is no longer drying. It does come with a 5 year warranty but it’s just the point.
We had a front loading Frigidaire and after many repairs switched to the TR model of Speed Queen. We have been happy with it. Not a big fan of the lod lock, but it washes everything just fine.
The TR-5 and TR-7 both have a hand wash cycle that is extremely delicate. I own a dry cleaners and I have a TR-5 in my plant, it does an excellent job with the delicates on the hand wash cycle. Highly recommend that model.
My 90yr old mother has had a TC series for over 10 years. Two years ago we had to have the balance ring, which is located under the top panel and surrounds the drum, replaced because the washer would walk away from the wall where it is located. I was very careful to re-level the machine and provided the shock absorbing rings for underneath the feet. The new balance ring lasted
I purchased a set of Speed Queens it is a TC model but has a fancier buttons that are electronic not dial I wish our service guy was as knowledgeable as this guy, our guy was a disaster, dangerous, I am surprised the Fire Department didn't just follow him around. How do you know if you did not get that one bad year Speed Queen?

The very best review regarding the differences between the TC and TR washing machines. Thank you for spending the time to help us make a decision.

My mother had a speed Queen for over 25 years. When she died that thing outlived her by another 8 years.
Smart woman. She knew what she had.
God bless them both
I have the one with the lid lock and also the front loader. Both are outstanding

Run the TC version on the Gentle Cycle to be more gentle on your clothes.

thanks, great explanation of the differencesbetween the two
Will either wash a comforter without grinding a hole in it?
Speed Queen Classic!
All of us that are of a certain age and income know that older machines worked much better and are much more reliable. I'm ordering the TC machine.
Mind you we had crap back then too… don’t make it sound like it was so much better than it was because he wasn’t!
Would have liked to see the price range of these.

The TC SERIES has the spin-drains like the old school Speed Queens. The TR SERIES has a neutral drain mostly.
What about the TR5, ANU ADVICE ?
I heard Speed Queen was coming out with a larger washer. Still the plan?
No that was a myth. The current machines are already a good size
I would like to see a video on SQ front load washers.
We don't currently carry them at our stores but that is changing soon and we will get something made!
The front loader is built like a tank. I have one and the tr 7
@@Joemil271Thanks! When my front load wears out I want to get a Speed Queen front load. They are more expensive, but repairs are too

Hello, Where did you purchase your w
Speed queen?
This was a great vid
Heck yeah! ❤
I second that! Heck yeah!
I will never have another front loader LG 🤦♀️. When it dies I’m getting a speed queen

Does this machine have a gentle cycle that agitates slowly?

The TC5 does

How do you know if you did not get that one bad year Speed Queen?
TR if you wash delicates mostly and the TC if you wash regular clothes, jeans, towels, sheets that you actually want CLEAN. 🎉
TC is proven over time to last. Q.E
D.
I have the tr, 4 house calls in two years. Biggest pos ever.
What year and model TR?
SO, if you want DIRTY clothes buy the TR series and you will be happy!
is it possible on the tr3 to open the lid while machine first starts to operate, or does it lock automatically once you push the button to start it??/
It locks
