I seem to have mastered my Phals and find it boring now because everyone has them. But I've branched out and have acquired some new orchids for beginners. I don't have a Phycopsis. Now I'm Def going to get one! As always, your posts are fabulous and helpful and extremely informative. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Wow, Peter! Such a wealth of information you always share w us! I have only phals atm--I'm too chicken to grow anything else🐔 But the psychopsis flower is so very beautiful (and looks so different, too) from the phal flower, it makes me want to give it a grow👍😊 Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise w us! I always learn something new w your videos👍
Really nice to see two orchids from both sides of the world together while imitating two different types of pollinators (moth and butterfly). Some species of phalaenopsis are sequential blooming like the Psychopsis such as the bellina or violacea. As many of us already know, care of complex phal hybrids is usually easier.
💯 It is really interesting to me to know all the pollination mechanics as orchids really seem to be master deceivers . Thank you for your input . We need to keep the info to a basic level for beginners and entertainment , so it is always great to get comments like this so those interested can get some deeper insights too , thank you .
ah phalaenopsis my mother favourite orchid next to dendroboum, she has 25yo phalaenopsis that's still thriving, but for me i like doritis better because they grow offset and become bushy 😁💚🌿
Living in Hawaii, we have ideal conditions for orchids. A lot of my dendrobiums and oncidiums are in full sun. I just created a shaded area and would like to start mounting phalaenopsis but now I'm interested in the psychopsis orchid 🤔 I have so many ideas but never know where to start, hahaha. I want to create a walk through type garden rather than being on shelves in a confined area. Thanks for the comparison of these two species.
That is awesome! Lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world 😍 Your idea sounds amazing and for sure you need both Phalaenopsis and Psychopsis 😁 We need all of them 🤣🤣🤣
Lovely video yet again... I'd grow the Phalaenopsis cos I don't have the right environment for the psychopsis. I am also beginning to search for Fragrant phalaenopsis; please do a video on that if you are able to. Very well done Peter, waiting patiently for more content. 😂 Stay blessed!
thanks for the suggestion 🫰 I think I have better luck with Psychopsis but I think it is more because I tend to ignore my Phalaenopsis a bit too much because they are real survivors 😊
@thenaturecompany hahahahaha and I'm here thinking that you probably don't miss a thing cos of the amount of plants you have... You are human after all, but you still remain a super hero in my eyes. Cheers man!
I love them both and am growing them both. I was wondering if you would recommend fertilize the Psychopsis with tomato fertilizer? Thank you for this comparison video!
Despite SA and Austria/Vienna having the same timezone I wonder if our seasons make any difference. My - over the moon - flowers of my Psychopsis (yes, another strange name... psychosis) #1 don't even last 1 week. It has only a few freckles on the leaves. The spike is already 4+ years old. Í get 1 or 2 flowers every year and then I watch it in absolute admiration 🙄👀(sometimes I move, just kidding). No offence but there is no way to compare a Psy. with a Phal. I wanted to have a Psy with great pattern on the leaves, bought one (finally), put it on a windowsill with Phals and it got sunburn within short. So I put it away but the pattern of the leaves simply vanished. Now its under artificial light but the modeling didn't come back. It is growing well but no pattern and no blooms. I have an Onc. phymatochilum, same 'leave feeling' just bigger (bulbs + leaves), cute little flowers (my Onc. naevianums - yes, plural, never made it). That's on my cactus window and flowers every year. I don't think Phals and Psys are comparable in any way. Many regards ❣
oh sorry to hear it is fighting with you 🫂I think the reason it got burnt was the sudden move to direct light if it was a commercially grown one . "Mendenhall" is one that should have good markings on the leaves but only in very high light . Also remember they like around 10 hours of light a day , I think so far up North perhaps in winter you might get a lot less . I hope you dont give up on Psychopsis lol , I really enjoy mine 😁 I want you to have the same success and feeling 💕🫰

Thanks so much , you will never regret getting one they are so wonderful 😍

So nice of you to say 😊For sure give it a go , if you can manage Phalaenopsis then Psychopsis should not be too difficult for you 😘

😁we does our best lol , but the more you know the more you know you don't know 😊 Thank you so much for your praise 🫂

tomato fertilizer ? is this made for tomatoes or from them ? I will have to look into this either way 👌
It's a type of fertilizer that a lot of farmers use to grow bigger veggies, and to my knowledge, it's not made from tomatos.
let me look into what the ingredients are
Great information, as always, Peter!😊❤👏🏻🤗👍🪴
Glad you enjoyed it . I don't know if you could tell I had fun making this one lol

If they both grow equally as easily why not have both
absolutely , both is a win
