Funny Dannie, a year ago you had the psychopsis as an orchid you MAY never buy again. How can you not have one of these in your collection? I love these plants and it was your videos that turned me on to them. By the way the Mendenhall 'Hildos' has variegated leaves.
Hello Danny! Thank you for these videos! Happy to hear about your orchids and.... yes! My psychopsis second spike is growing! I can't wait seeing both in flower! Take care of you!
Congrats on getting the Psychopsis back into your collection. Looking forward to seeing the bloom when it blooms. This is one orchid that I would really like to add to my collection some time. Thank you for this video. Please be safe and have a great day.
Thanks for your videos on this orchid. I just ordered a Psychopsis Mendenhall from Orchidweb; I'll go pick it up hopefully tomorrow. I'm looking forward to having an orchid that isn't too difficult to grow and will bloom continuously with these incredible flowers. I plan on putting him on a humidity tray in a western-facing window that also has a bit of shade. You've inspired me to buy quite a few orchids; the people at Orchidweb are really starting to like me. :) Thanks!
I have 2 baby psychopsis (mendenhall 'hildos' and memoria 'bill carter') that I got last year at ~$7 each. They are very slow growing for me. Putting on their first new growth in my care, really hope it will get larger than the previous growth. Can't even imagine how many years till they get to blooming. I have them in LECA. Maybe they could be growing faster in more moist environment. Going to stick with it for a while to see how it works. I am in it for a long run ))))
I've been addicted to your channel and just found you a couple of days ago! I have three Phals and want to add one of these in the spring. I love your voice and projection, you should work in radio or broadcast news! Take care! ✌👏🌹
Very enjoyable and useful! I love my Psychopsis - bloomwise, he’s a workhorse, and it’s such a Pretty flower. Who did the mad laugh at the end of the video, btw.? 😆
I could relate when you said shd was special for you,i lost my phaius thankervilea yesterday. I had it for 3 years ive cried like 5 times the last 20 hours,i loved her but she had constantly root rot and shoots dieing off, so it was a tikking time bomb
Hi! Could you please tell little more about the pot mix for it? I got a tiny one - it's just one bulb about 5 mm in size with 3 leafs. Do I need to use smaller size bark for it? It came from local collector in loose sphagnum moss without any bark or some-thing. The collector recommendation were - one watering per week, just put in and get it out. My little one is Psychopsis versteegiana and I really worry about it's wellbeing.
I saw your videos on the causes of root burn... They were very enlightening and yet I don't know what kind of water to use... Should I buy water bottles and use that?
I think I used too much moss when I repotted my Mariposa, my first Psychopsis. It was taking well over two weeks to dry so I peppered the pot with holes. That did a good job in cooler weather but now we've had some warm days and the pot is drying too quickly! I'm going to try putting it into a pot surround to reduce the rate of moisture loss.
Lovely, was looking forward to watch this one. Mine seems to have taken to the new media without issues, however, the new growth, which has been growing a lot, is a bit floppy, the leaf is not very thick and it doesn't yet have a pbulb developed, I'm wondering if that's normal.
@@sinine1100 Honestly, I've no idea. I've had it for a month and I don't know how fast they grow and get sturdy, I just assumed they were like this when young. I haven't fed it with anything yet. Might be low light, bit then again I have flowering dendros and phals next to it.
Could be stress indeed and since the roots weren't established, they might have underperformed. Try to make it straight and keep it in position, many of the times they harden off in a couple of months in the position in which they are in :)
Update on my two orchids from eBay that took 4 months to come. My hot kiss, now is growing new roots & a new leaf. 😀 The other a Belinda, had no leafs, the roots also died, my first death. 😔 The package said it came from Poland.
Hello Danny,i received my new mariposa this week in a pot with very compressed Sphagnum moss and i am thinking of repot it or at least make it breath inside that media. Is it safe to repot it in a bark sphagnum mix in this period of time?It doesnt have spike. Please help me,thank you!!
WOW! Your oncidiums are fantastic! Especially color, this purple-orange-red contrast looks very cool. Where did you find your oncidiums? Ordering from orchids nurseries or in markets?
I have a question. My husband bought me an orchid last year. I repotted my orchid about 2 weeks ago and noticed that it had a plastic thing under the crown that was filled with some sort of dirt. I’m not sure if it’s purpose. I left it there and repotted it with bark. Should I take out that middle thing that came with the orchid?
Please help, I have an orchid which has white mould on the roots. I know I need a peroxide spray to kill it but I can't find any because of the lockdown. And Amazon won't deliver until late April. I'm in the UK, is there anything thing else I can do to save the orchid?
Hi Danny! I have a question on how to take care of my Dendrobium anosmum it is at the philippines mounting on a mango tree my grandma is taking care of it and one question is it a winter rest or not?
Hi, I’ve been having Psychopsis papilio for almost 3 months and it doesnt do anything for me at all. Is it because of my temp goes about 16-15 degree at night? I grow it beside Phal Amabilis and the Amabilis grows like weeds :( I dont know what’s wrong with my Psychopsis.
Hi, I would try to keep it warmer, it sounds a bot too cold and probably it's just waiting for warmer temps to start growing :) here is more info on its natural habitat www.orchidspecies.com/psychopsispapilio.htm
Hi Danni Looking for some advice,l broke the tip off an Oncidium Colmanara flower spike .Will it flower or have i lost that spike and flowers Thank you Trixie
Fabulous orchid. I think they look like mini little girls in frilly dresses. Tried to sign on to your new site, says my email doesn't exist. It's the one I've had since 1997, so what's up with that?
Happy to see this beauty back in your collection. BTW, are you participating in the Global Virtual Orchid show on April 4th? Your orchids are so beautiful and I thought you would be interested. 😍
@@MissOrchidGirl thanks! I'm looking to buy one. The only one I've found through the nursery I order from is Peloric 😒 so I'll have to keep searching lol

So glad to see another video about Psychopsis
