FINALLY!!!! My favorite Alan Parsons Project song!!! It’s so chill & it makes u reflect on the past & think about the future. It takes u on another plane of thought 😑
To me, this song is about those times in your life when you say goodbye to a dear friend, knowing you'll probably never see them again. It was especially true in the days before internet/social media.
exactly. In 1978 I lost a great friend and his sister who were murdered by a serial killer. I was seventeen and my friend and his sister were 18 and 19. Everytime I hear this song it makes me sad. I lost my mom in 2018 and it makes me sadder.
Everybody needs to remember that Alan Parsons literally produced and engineered the whole entire Pink Floyd album Dark Side of The Moon! their biggest selling album ever.
Alan was the engineer. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical that year. The Grammy went to Innervisions - Stevie Wonder, Malcolm Cecil & Robert Margouleff, engineers.
I actually helped paint this album cover as a mural on the wall of our dorm in college. The song, "Turn of a friendly Card" from this album is great as well!
Agreed! That entire album is a masterpiece. One of my favorites. Another song of his, Winding Me Up (from Eve, 1979), was sometimes used on TV for an instrumental outro.
Dr. Evil called his plan the "Alan Parsons Project" lol. Great song and thanks for doing this one. Sounds so surreal, calm, soothing, relaxing, and ethereal.
I liked that song when I was young but probably didn't pay that close attention to the lyrics, I haven't heard that song in many years. Now that I'm getting up in years and have lost loved ones I certainly hear it in a different way now.
Probably my favorite album from APP. That or the Edgar Allen Poe tribute - Tales of Mystery and Imagination. Eye in the Sky is great but I love those two more. Eve is also a great album.
"TIME" is one of the 1980's most underrated masterpieces. Besides Alan Parsons and its title, TIME shares another Pink Floyd reference. Its release from the tonic D major chord down to the relative 6th B minor chord. This echos the same chord sequence at the end of the verse leading into the bridge sections in "Us and Them' from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon Lp. When our band (back in the day) needed a long slow dance song, this was the go-to song. Hands down my favorite APP song. RNB
This song always touched me, since It’s release. Now, in my 60’s, the music makes total sense, looking back the road of my life. It wasn’t easy to stay until the end without some tears in my eyes. 💔✌️
Yes for sure. For my brother, 5 years ago: "Day without rain" by Enya, "Dust in the Wind" by Sarah Brightman, "Old and Wise" by Alan Parsons, "Burnin' for You" by Blue Oyster Cult (One of his favs)
"Some Other Time" a track off the 'I Robot' album released by the A.P.P. back in 1977 is a musical masterpiece with the transitions in the arrangement and composition. The message conveyed in the lyrics is inspirational as well. 💫🎤🎸🎹🥁🔊🔥☮🎧
The waves of sound in this song! Alan Parsons has created an ineluctable passage of music that flows through your mind and body. Waves coming to shore. The years passing one by one. Carrying you off to heaven.
Alan Parsons Project is epic and timeless. There's not any of their songs that aren't reflective and amazing. My favorite has always been "Old and Wise", but now that I'm 67 and in stage 4 kidney disease, "Old and Wise" and "Time" have so much more depth and meaning to them than when I was listening to them in my youth. Thank you so much for another great reaction, more smiles, and the trip down memory lane. ✌💚✌

One can never go wrong with an Alan Parsons Project OR Alan Parsons solo effort. Superb musician. If he played his best songs in a concert, the concert would last at least 5 hours
Absolute masterpiece. They were masters of their craft. This song is so trance like, so beautiful. My brother-in-law and I used to sing this together all the time. He ended up passing away recently. He was only in his 50's. Now this song even hits home harder than before.
The singer is Alan's musical partner, Eric Wolfson (RIP). He has a soothing voice, and sung many songs on the projects, but I always think he reminds me of a highschool music teacher to me!
When I first heard this song in 1981, I was 16 years old and just beginning to learn about lust, love, loss, and emotional pain. As I’ve grown older, the impact of the lyrics become more relevant. Now, at 59, and having experienced almost all life has to offer, this song has become more relevant and every time I hear it, I reflect on all that has come before and realize time is the only commodity that matters. I love that newer generations are appreciating this great music.
Jay and Amber, do you remember the song "Magic" by the group Pilot that you reacted to 9 months ago? ("Oh, Oh, Oh, It's magic") Three of those guys went on to play with the Alan Parsons Project. The lead singer/bassist on "Magic", David Patton, is playing bass and guitar on this song "Time. The lead guitarist from Pilot, Ian Bairnson, is also playing guitar on this song
Finally, I've been pushing for this song since month one of this channel. This is one of my favorite songs of all time, always makes me want to reconnect with an old friend or family member before it's too late.
First comment for the great reaction!! “ Time” was my Dad’s favorite song; when we were playing each other’s favorite albums he especially loved this song from “ The Turn of a Friendly Card”. Perhaps APP’s best concept album.RIP Pop.
The Alan Parson Project was a Progressive Rock Band led by the late great Eric Woolfson and sound engineer Alan Parsons They're a English group most of their classic hits were in 1981 and 1982 i loved this group back in the early 1980s they're pure classic.
This is from my favourite (if criminally short at 34 mins!) APP album, which is probably one of the few non-classical CDs ever to have index tracks for the great 5-part section that ends the album.
As you can see from the comments, you basically can close your eyes and randomly pick ANY Alan Parsons Project song and you cannot go wrong. What group has dozens of different lead singers including Male AND Female, singing great Rock tunes along with beautiful ballads. They also have one or more incredible instrumental tracks on each album as well! In addition, most of their releases are concept albums which makes listening to every song a more compelling experience!!! As you can see with this song "Time", at the end of the song the music was transitioning into the next track.
It’s one of those songs that you can listen to at every stage of life, and it evokes different emotions each time. Alan Parsons is a legendary sound engineer / musical genius. Watching your reactions made me cry ❤
What you've got to remember about Alan parsons is that he wasn't just The Alan Parsons Project. He was a sound engineer and started his long and currently still going career at Abbey Road studios aged 18. He worked on and produced some of the best works for The Beatles, Wings, Pink Floyd, The Hollies, Pilot, and many more. He's still going strong at 75!
The Alan Parsons Project has made a LOT of amazing music. One of my favorites wasn't particularly famous, but it is beautiful with a great message. Please listen to "When I'm Old and Wise."
This song is off the 5th APP Album and the 1st time he allowed Eric Woolfson, his writing and Project partner to sing as lead vocalist with Alan singing backup.
That's not true - Parsons NEVER stopped Woolfson from providing lead vocals (he was already providing backing vocals). Their working pattern was Eric would provide Alan with demos of the new material which he himself sang, and between the two of them they decided which of their vocalists was best suited to each song. I think it was more of a case that Eric didn't want to be a lead vocalist before this time (pardon the pun), and possibly lacked confidence in his own voice compared to some of the outstanding vocalists they had access to (I know be was a big fan of John Miles).
❤️❤️❤️❤️ Brings back bittersweet memories. “Who knows when we shall meet again? If ever But time keeps flowin' like a river (On and on) To the sea, to the sea.”
The Alan Parsons Project was basically the duo of Alan Parson and Eric Woolfson. Parsons and Woolfson wrote the songs and Parsons was the producer. They used various musicians and vocalists on their albums however most albums had many of the some vocalists and most of the same musicians. Parsons and Woolfson also occasionally played instruments. As the years went on, Woolfson provided a lot of lead vocals as he does here and on Eye In the Sky.
I was 8 years old when this song came out It freaked me out then Now i think about friends and family I've lost when i hear it I want to just break down and cry. Such a soulful song
My pitbull Lucia died during the pandemic, September 2020. I always think of her when I hear this. And my two daughters are now older - 30 and 21. How I miss when they were small. They still need you when they're small. Lol. Point is, enjoy every moment. Because you are going to blink, and your kids will be all grown up. That's time.
The famous Alarm Clocks sound effect used in Pink Floyd's "Time" was initially recorded by Parsons for a test of quadraphonic sound, not for the song, but Parsons saw the opportunity, and offered it to Pink Floyd for use in their song.
You always hear people saying they don't have enough time for this or that. The thing to truly remember. Time is not something you have. Time is something you make! So start making time for the things and people that really matter in your life.😂😂❤🎉
My favorite Alan Parsons Project song is The Raven. It's not as popular, but it's a great song based on an Edgar Allen Poe story. Maybe you could check it out in the future. Love your reactions...you make me smile. 😊
I love this song, and I am so glad you got round to it. The voice of the late, great Eric Woolfson. I think you would love "Silence & I" and the brilliant Ammonia Avenue. Lots of instruments, beautiful vocals and orchestra! Lots more Alan Parsons Project and Supertramp.
When my mom died at the end of 2022 I was tasked with creating a 10 minute video of pictures from her life to show at her funeral. I used three songs and this was the middle song. I've always loved it since I first heard it decades ago but now it will always trigger great sadness. The other two songs were We've Only Just Begun by Carpenters at the beginning and Just Smile by Nat King Cole at the end.
“Parsons was the sound engineer on albums including the Beatles' Abbey Road (1969) and Let It Be (1970), Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), and the eponymous debut album by Ambrosia in 1975. Parsons's own group, the Alan Parsons Project, as well as his subsequent solo recordings, have also been commercially successful. He has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, “ Wikipedia

Wow! This band still blows my mind! Every time i hear them. No matter what song.
I can never listen to this without tears. Y'all did good. Very good.
I enjoy spending my "time" listening to great music with you two.
Guys, take a listen to the whole album when you have a chance, one of the most transformative albums of our time
One of the most well known Progressive Rock Bands. (PROG ROCK)
The Alan Parsons Project has made a LOT of amazing music. One of my favorites wasn't particularly famous, but it is beautiful with a great message. Please listen to "When I'm Old and Wise."
From my favorite Alan Parsons Project album - Turn Of A Friendly Card. The album also contains Games People Play.
This song is off the 5th APP Album and the 1st time he allowed Eric Woolfson, his writing and Project partner to sing as lead vocalist with Alan singing backup.
Eric has such a smooth iconic voice.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Brings back bittersweet memories.
“Who knows when we shall meet again?
If ever
But time keeps flowin' like a river (On and on)
To the sea, to the sea.”
This entire album is awesome!!
Mainly Eric Woolfson, the genius behind the project.
Some songs deserve to have their lyrics listened to. This is one.
I have always loved this song. Sooo dreamy.......
I was 8 years old when this song came out
It freaked me out then
Now i think about friends and family I've lost when i hear it
I want to just break down and cry.
So start making time for the things and people that really matter in your life.😂😂❤🎉
Why did I remember every single word when I haven't heard this in 40+ years?! I remember slow dancing to this in HS.
My favorite Alan Parsons Project song is The Raven. It's not as popular, but it's a great song based on an Edgar Allen Poe story. Maybe you could check it out in the future. Love your reactions...you make me smile. 😊
Fantastic Song, but I actually prefer both A Cask of Amontillado and Dr. Tarr & Professor Fether from that album.
The first time I heard this song when it first came out I thought it really was Pink Floyd. It's mesmerizing.
I love their album Tales of mystery and imagination. Each song is based on an Edgar Allen Poe story
SO LOVE THIS BAND!!! SUCH a great SOUND!! ENJOY, YA'LL!!! I KNOW you BOTH WILL!! HUGS!
The vocals on this song are incredible as is the instrumentation snd the pristine production with all that entails.
YAY...Time...you're gonna love it!!!
This was a great slow-dance song for us back in high school.
This song is a trip. A good trip and you don't want to come back. I was 19 when it came out in 1981.
a "timeless" classic from a master
“I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You” is a great song of theirs. Complete opposite pace from “Time.”
The singer is Colin Bluntstone and his hit Say You Don't Mind is just gorgeous! 😎
I had a stroke 4 days before my 53rd birthday on the 25th of May currently request stroke by Billy squier yes i have a sick sense of humor 😊🧑🦽😊
He has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, “

Favorite song ever! Beautiful voices ❤
Simply just a beautiful song! This is probably my favorite song by Alan Parsons! ❤️
I did hospice for many yrs and this song always came to mind…saying goodbye to dear patients…..friends! ❤️🙏
I still remember the first time I ever heard this song. Took me all of 5 seconds to fall completely in love with it. Just so gorgeous. ❤ So many great songsof theirs yet to try, I'll suggest "La Sagrada Familia". 🤪👍
I first heard of this song as it is referenced in the Grandaddy song "Alan Parsons in a Winter Wonderland". Off the album "it's a cool cool Christmas "
I've always love how the music washes over Amber.
This song came out right around the time that I graduated from high school. I left three weeks later for college across the country and I haven’t seen most of those dear friends since. This song hit so hard and still does.
One of my old time favorite songs. Meaning is so deep .
First time I ever heard of Alan Parsons was in 1987 on my first date with my sweet husband. They were his favorite group and he had all their albums which he had put on cassette tape which we listened to while driving around in his Brat pickup. I lost him 14 years ago to cancer but every time I hear Alan Parsons Project I'm right back there with him. Love their sound!
This song makes me cry - every time. I adore The Alan Parsons Project and have since I discovered them in 1981.
Why does the sound keep messing up lately?
I'm glad someone brought this up. i was worried it might be my PC; guess not.
@@richardkoehler2253 I thought it was my ear buds.
From my point of view, it is the best interpretation he has; Alan Parsons. Your music is beautiful... thanks guys.
I really appreciate how articulate Amber is with lyric interpretation. I think she should write a book.
You two are my favorite critics, because you are honest and the extrapolation of every song you hear is very entertaining
My favorite APP song. Just something about the melody, the piano and the lyrics. Just takes all my stress away whenever I hear it.
