Still as fresh as when The Gift first came out in 1982. Even better live too. Where did music go wrong, the garbage chucked out now. Never this quality.
Try this (not comparing to The Jam, but...): ua-cam.com/video/G6UeQwDOTeM/v-deo.html One of my favourite bands, discovered on UA-cam. And *just now,* when playing it, YT gave me these: ua-cam.com/video/W782QhqPTNQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Zd9jeJk2UHQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/6FKgLmT5s2A/v-deo.html You may (incredibly) choose not to like any of them _ but don’t say the 21st century isn’t trying!!
Class ! My older bro met Paul weller in Woking back in ,83-84! Said he was a nice bloke ! I was born in Woking hospital and lived in Addlestone up the road ! My youth consisted of this music and now I'm bald old and mainly play their songs on guitar by myself thinking of the old days 😥 this music took me through my Skool days , my parents break up 😭 parties and pubs . Quality . And I loved a JAM BADGE and a great poster out of Smash hits !! 😳😳✌️️
@theurbanghost.Yeah,fairplay mate.nice one for correcting me.(i also misspelt"technicolour"by accident)The gift will always be up there with the best in my opinion.
Bruce Foxton a great and very underrated bassist sure had a great voice too on those backing vocals ! What an exhilarating band they were ! Not much like them anymore on a stage in Blighty !
Mr E broadway saw them several times - superb act - so relevant to all working class youngsters that were struggling in the terrible years under Thatcher - my youngest brother was too young to see them when me & my other brother first saw them at Hammersmith Palais 14/12/81 My youngest brother ( a talented musician in his own right) still moans about this
He nearly did making The Gift album, was so obsessed with making the best album ever that he had a mini breakdown. Also he got shingles, which for a 24 year old is not that common. He was under a lot of pressure then, being so young and having the biggest band in Britain at that time on his shoulders. Brave move to split them up at the height of their fame.
Paul Weller is fantastic. I have never seen the Jam play live B4. But I will often do my 🥁 kit sound affect impression. 2 his great music. The Jam track That's Entertainment is my favourite A side single. Because it reminds me of a great Human League gig that I have gone to c.(like this Friday night coming up in Brighton and Bournemouth later this month 4 the 17 th and the 18th time in total.) And a good Chess match 4 Portsmouth B v Cosham. In the Cole Cup Chess match away v Cosham. When I was 4 Pawns down against my the guy that I was playing. And I still 1 the game. And Portsmouth 1 the match 4 1. I was promoted to the top board in the final. And I 1 that game of Chess 2. But we lost the match 3 2.. That's Entertainment also reminds me of a great Human League gig that I had seen.
Caught the tail end of the Jam....1982 Perkins Palace Pasadena, CA. Never could figure out why Paul Weller broke up one of the greatest rock and roll bands for the absolute boring crap of the Style Council. I got first couple of records hoping there might be something resembling passionate rock and roll, but nothing.
Bruce Foxton added a lot to the jam
Indeed... overlooked power plant.
He was just as important as Weller.😎👍
I could listen to this forever and never get bored of it..
Absolutely outstanding in every way. To me, this is The Jam at their best.
Still get a buzz hearing this. Just like the first time all those years ago.. The Jam soundtrack to my life..
Still as fresh as when The Gift first came out in 1982. Even better live too. Where did music go wrong, the garbage chucked out now. Never this quality.
Edward Pearce amazing x
People aren't the quality they used to be.

I was in the Navy and a boy presented the lyrics to this as ones he had 'written' for me! I fell for it! :)
One of their very best songs. Gorgeous.
I think ghosts is a classic also
100% - vastly overlooked
Wellers voice here is brilliant!
These songs sound so much better live...the Jam were something else
One of the GOAT bassists
I love these guys. This song is so good that it hurts.
arry a the jam is way of life and this so true to happiness
One of the tightest bands ever

I saw The Jam back in 1982 @ the Palladium in NYC. They were a great band.
"And after those of you who've watched in black n white, this ones in techicolour"
Now for those of you watching in black and white this one is in technicolour
@theurbanghost.Yeah,fairplay mate.nice one for correcting me.(i also misspelt"technicolour"by accident)The gift will always be up there with the best in my opinion.

One of my favorites. Love it!!!
flawless !
The jam peaking, love it
Another great song from THE GUVNERS
Thanks for posting this! Great Song! Great Band!
This is one of my fav songs. Thanks for sharing
I can hear the Mod roots. This song uses the 1967 four-to-the-bar snare beat, ala "Let's Spend the Night Together" or "David Watts."
Great song
Oh and the sound on these HD ones is great!!!! Thanks Mr Aceface..
wish i could have been there allways loved the jam as older brother loved them don't see my brother and lost the jam sad life .
Mr E broadway saw them several times - superb act - so relevant to all working class youngsters that were struggling in the terrible years under Thatcher - my youngest brother was too young to see them when me & my other brother first saw them at Hammersmith Palais 14/12/81

Two people give a thumbs down for this......must be Justin Bieber fans.
wot a track. shouldve been a single. the gift is a brilliant album. look at weller at those later gigs. he must have burnt himself oot.

Edward Pearce he nearly achieved making the best album.
Agreed, it is still a great album, I cannot believe it is 35 years old now.
