    Dr. Ergin I admit I had to watch this video a couple of times but I finally understand the importance of watching glycemic load! Thank you for explaining it in layman’s terms and in keeping us educated. I believe many of us would be able to manage our glucose levels much better if we had doctors who were as patient and thorough as you are. Thank you for all that you do!!!

    Yeah, I'm pre-diabetic (and have been so most of my life as someone who has POCS). I can't go without carbs for several days in a row. I eat low glycemic carbs like injera (gluten-free pure teff), apples, berries, lots of cruciferous vegetables. Can't do rice anymore because it spikes so that's out. I use quinoa in several recipes in moderation as a binder such as turkey burgers, meatballs (albondigas), or chicken kafta I make. That's another way I sneak in carbs to keep it under control. Can't do oatmeal because it causes inflammation for me (even the gluten-free version). So, that's a no no. I grew up in the middle east, so chickpeas are definitely on the tables as well as edamame. Can't do whole grains because of wheat or gluten, so Teff, and almond/coconut flour bread it is for me.

    Cinnamon helps blood sugar to come down. I am chronically diabetic. Blood sugar is either high or low. Today after medication and insulin. Blood sugar was going up to 14.5. My dinner was a piece of fish and a few veggies followed up with a cup of tea. 33:14

      I've been studying metabolic health and am diagnosed with pre-diabetes. I now understand that you will need to have 70%fruit, legumes,whole grains and vegetables 20%healthy fat like nuts,seeds and 🥑pasta, sprouted grain bread, 10% protein from all other sources...restrict processed foods, sugar, juice. The problem is the cells are too full of fat. Keto is not gonna help anyone unless you're trying to get cancer.

    My oncologist limited me to losing no more than 6 pounds of weight loss per week when I was in treatment and on more than one occasion hospitalized me not only for opportunistic infections but also for weight loss. So I agree it is best for cancer patients to get advice from the cancer center - especially if they are diabetic at the same time. I did not have both conditions at the same time, but became diabetic when I developed hypothyroid 2 or 3 years after my BMT.

    You talk about subtracting fiber from total carbs to find out how many carbs you are getting but I find that does not always work out because some fiber is insoluble ( not processed by the body) and soluble (processed by the body). If not labeled how do you how much fiber can be subtracted from from the carbs?

    I’ve had several non Hodgkin’s lymphoma (no spleen now). They gave me the drug Keytruda and I’ve acquired type 1 diabetic. How I found out is that I went into DKA. I was already a type 2 diabetic. The doctors at Brigham and Womens hospital in Boston, MA. consider me a type 1 and a type 2 diabetic.
    Couple months ago I had a autologous (my own stem cells) stem cell transplant. I’m now in remission.
    In-between times I’ve gone into CHF (congestive heart failure).
    I am currently on a 2,000ml restriction and a 2G sodium restriction.
    So what can I eat (a paper bag?).

      @@SugarMDs oh yes, I’m on metformin and trulicity too. I just got taught how to use an insulin pump. Gonna use the lose it app to count my carbs and salt. Fluids I will be keeping track of. All this stuff is hard especially when you have had problems with eating all your life. I have lost 100 pounds. Still have about 60 pounds to go. I find it harder to loose weight now that I’m a diabetic. When I was in the hospital for 3 months because after the stem cell I acquired pneumonitis which I was on 50 yes 50 liters of oxygen. They said if I didn’t get better that I would have to live at the hospital because they were the only ones with the equipment to help me. Thank goodness I turned the corner. I’m still on oxygen right now but hoping to get off of it soon. I’ve been out of work for about 2 1/2 years so far. I start to get my vaccinations the end of July. Sorry I’m babbling. Sometimes I like to do that. Thanks for listening.

    My question why do you recommend to eat low fat dairy ( if to eat at all as it raises insulin a good bit) if fat most of the time replaced with sugar.

    • @SugarMDs
      @SugarMDs  2 роки тому +2

      Depends on your goal. If you are limiting fat due to high cholesterol you may want to lower animal fat. Healthy omega 3 fats such as fish or olive oil or avocado oil isn’t limited

      @@deniseg112 You don't have to do 20g daily. I did keto under 20g daily, for me it was not sustainable.
      For me happy medium is actually about 30g, I eat 20-40g daily, I eat under 50g daily. If you feel great with 50g of carbs and stay on same.
