This was a perfect example of how to chase down a PTO switch causing the problem. You did forget to mention that there are safety switches for the control levers as well but this is a great video breakdown all the same. Thanks for taking the time!
This will help a lot of people. Just like to add you can clip your negative lead to the battery, get a reading of battery voltage like you did then go to the fuses and get a reading of voltage on both sides of the fuse so you do not have to depend on ohms that may show continuity but not carry current. Move down the diagram testing each contact switch as long as you do not have a drop of 1.5 volts then it will carry enough current to work properly.
My man . I just spent an hour banging my head against a wall.watched this , running in 60 seconds . Pto lost connection . Disconnected , put back on. Good to go . God bless you American
Nice job explaining...how to look at the electrical schematic...how to generally use a multimeter...how to systematically approach an electrical troubleshooting scenario.
Had no clue a PTO switch could do that. I'm over here with my Cub Cadet with no wiring schematic until tonight. I looked through it and saw the connections, did a search, your video popped up and confirmed my no crank possibility. I've wasted about 16 dollars, on an ignition switch and relay. I know it's rookie as hell to just start throwing parts at it but, I couldn't find a schematic until just now. Thanks for the confirmation. Gonna go try it. Update- just tried testing it and it's confirmed. Jumper allowed the circuit to work. No voltage on exit off the switch. Thank you for the video. Between this and the schematic, I finally found my problem
I guess Im asking randomly but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Milan Jamari I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
Good, no nonsense video. Thanks. My dad just gave me a Troy Bilt zero turn with a Kholer engine and said it won’t turn over you can have it. Should be able to have it running in no time now/ thanks again buddy!
Hey John, was that the issue on your Troy bilt zero turn causing it not to start? A buddy of mine said their Troy bilt zero turn won’t start and wanted me to take a look at it tomorrow but I haven’t found many electrical troubleshooting videos on Troy Bilt zero turn mowers
Nice fix, the inquisitive mind in me would have taken that switch apart just to see how it failed, it seems like the switches built today are so flimsy they just don't last. Happy Mowing we are still shoveling snow but hopefully it will end soon.
Learn the difference between crank (engine turnover) and start (run) and your explanation will be much easier for viewers to comprehend. Enjoyed the video-nice explanation of tracing wires via schematic diagram.
I have a Dixon 2750 ZTR and replaced a relay and an ignition switch. It started once but after that no dice. Had to disconnect the start wire from the solenoid and jump it with a screwdriver. I will have to check that one our. Thanks.
My Toro Z4220 ran fine for about 15 minutes. And then just die out. Have full gas. Battery is less than 10 months and tested with DVM to be 12.6VDC. Turned On heard only a click & click. What do you think the problem (s) would be? Ran fine all those other days.
Hello! I have one of them that it won't engage the blades. Already replaced switch for the blades and checked all the sensors but no luck yet. Any suggestions?
@@milusoscualquierascz265 You will then have to trace the wires back to the battery to find where you are loosing your positive, negative or both. A schematic might be a great help.
couldn't you just have moved the blue wire to #8 and the light blue to #7 and leave #4 and #6 empty and saved a trip to the parts store and the cost of the new switch?
No joke I know a woman co-worker friend of a friend, found her husband all chopped up from the mower needless to say he died, I'm not sure of details because I couldn't ask, she didn't want to discuss the matter! Horrifying and Sad. I've had my mower slip and go down hill scaring the crap out of me. I don't depend on those safeties nor would I disengage!
I think this might be exactly what is going on with mine.. after watching a bunch of vids. I'm thinking this is it. Everyone else has a different problem. But I think mine has this issue
homesteadprepper I have a dead toro time cutter & need to disable the seat safety so that I can work on it. Can u explain how u disable it w a piece of wire?
What were the symptoms? Currently going through the same thing with my hustler raptor 52 inch. It will not crank, but I know the battery is good and I also know the the ignition switch is good because I just bought a new one, so I guess my questions is when your tried to start your mower it just wouldn’t crank?

I absolutely loved it until this switch went bad, lol. Actually, it is an excellent mower and has worked flawlessly for the past 21 months. I would recommend one. I can't say the same about my Toro 48" Z master.
What was the zero turn doing? Just turning over and not catching to run? I've got a 15' Toro ZX4800 zero turn that just spins. Trying to figure this out cause it just sits with 11 hours on the meter.
Your starter is probably unassembled. 2nd generation have a problem with the nut coming loose on the top of the starter. It will spin the shaft and not the gear. Hope that helps.
I have a toro time cutter 5000 that when I turn the key to start position the little module on the bottom of the fuel bowl just clicks now I bypassed the brake module thinking this was the problem and this thing will not crank or anything anyone else had this problem and if so how did u fix the problem

I disable all Seat Safeties. The attorneys don't have to work on anything. Chasing down the Safety Sally Features can take all day.

If you don’t know how to disengage the hydros, get someone to show you. It makes it much easier to push/pull when a zero turn won’t start.
Very true and trying to push or pull this mower can potentially damage the variable piston pumps.
