    Im happy you told people to sanitize. Most young people do not know. I was guest teaching at a college and I was shocked to learn that most young people do not know why you use hot soapy water to wipe store bought canned goods, and home canned lids, before ypu open them. 300 people ages 18 to 23. I wiped them off and a young lady raised her hand and asked why I did that. I said.. by show of hands, who knows why I did that. Only 27 people raised their hands. I then explained about mice, and what thry do, and why we clean them. When I aaked the 27 where they learned it, only 3 learned it from their famies. The other 24 learned it in college because of their fields of study. Please keep teaching, even the "common" information. Our young people need all the help they can get. Your a great teacher. 👍🏼

    Mrs. H, I'm embarrassed to say I discovered your videos a few day ago. I was most impressed when you was using power tools to build your green house, but I really enjoyed making those Teriyaki wings, they were delicious. Thank you so much for that recipe, It will definitely be made again and again.

    I will always be grateful to you for teaching me how to can, way back when my canner had been sitting new in the box for like a month or so. If I’m not mistaking, I think you even mentioned those of us who still had them sitting in the boxes. 😂 Anyway, thank you for this video, and I definitely plan to try this recipe within the next week or so.

    • @shellyo2945
      @shellyo2945 8 місяців тому +3

      Any oil is flammable. All American recommends using olive oil (preferably) or petroleum jelly. But I will say in the instructions that came with mine and the video put out by All American, it said to put a light coating of the oil/jelly on the beveled inside edge of the pot where the cover touches. Just enough lubricant to wet the edge, but not enough to actually see it.

    • @Madonnalitta1
      @Madonnalitta1 8 місяців тому

      Yeah, meat needs to be cooked first. Same as most canned foods, like veggies or jam.

    • @gymgirllja
      @gymgirllja 8 місяців тому +2

      @Madonnalitta, no, meat does not need to be cooked first. It gets fully cooked during the canning process. At most, you can brown meats to give them some color, but it's not fully cooked going in.
      Please review the USDA Guide to Canning books, the Ball Books of Preservation and Canning, or the National Center for Home Food Preservation website.
