@@ImKibitz would you belive me if i say if your trafic system was right you could make proably twice the amount your making now. with both bigger factories and the lines ya got.
How I like to deal with large industry areas is break them up into separate section disconnected as much as possible from one another, and with their own hookups to outside trade. Build each one as big as the roads and throughput can handle, then start the next. I don’t have industries DLC (yet), but it seems like you could keep it all in the same district without too many issues if you build it right…
@qMiikey remember to beef up highway connections, spread them out if at all possible and use both left and right on/off ramps. Another good tip is to route all traffic flow through an industry area like an IKEA- large capacity one way road only (yes its possible to overload a 6 lane one way, I’ve done it). Try and keep trains and ports close and separated so your industry traffic from other “cells” doesn’t all try and use a single hub. Cargo trains have decent capacity, but I recommend at least 2 per cell.
I love how you test the game to it's maximum potential. Just few points - you can copy factory and have multiple to consume all your production - you can have 1 factory with its own dedicated warehouses to avoid traffic bottle necks. - you can have a one way train cargo system that will just move stuff around the city. No out side connection. This will reduce your internal truck traffic tremendously.
how can you assign a warehouse to only service certain areas or factories? how do you copy or make multiple of something that's only "unique" as built in by the DLCs?
Uh oh, you'd do best to remove the incinerator from the printing press factory and decorate it some other way before they burn up the gossip mags - those are critical to distracting the residents and keeping them unaware of what their lives are like - it's the real news you need to keep away from them. Also, car factory does look cool, it would be interesting to see a factory in your satisfactory playthrough that draws inspiration from it. And as always, so very entertaining, thank you.
The crop resource used by some of your factories is raw crop, aka the stuff from the harvesting buildings, not the refined stuff. You best add some grain silos or such to the industry area so it can better supply your factory! Idk if any other raw resource is used by the vanilla factories, but i do recommend giving everything a once-over just to check
Order of truckerations: -Production buildings (farms, mines, oil pumps/towers, and forestry plots) have trucks which bring their produced resources to storage, production, and export buildings. -Production buildings have trucks which bring produced resources from the building to wherever requires it - storage, refinement, factories, export. They do not retrieve resources with their own trucks. -Special Factories have trucks which export their produced goods. They don't retrieve materials themselves, but call upon production, storage, and import if necessary to bring the stuff to them. -Storage buildings have their own trucks, however only use those for internal and wide-scale export. Other buildings will use their trucks to bring resources to a storage building, be it dedicated industry storage or a warehouse, and the storage building's trucks are used to bring the stored resources to where they may be required, or to export them sometimes. *HOWEVER*, warehouses tend to import when too empty and export when overfilled, as they'll try to retain the storage level they want to be at. They function as a closer point for storage and as a buffer when production spikes or declines temporarily. -Imported materials come on foreign trucks, or on trucks related to a cargo port/airfield/train station, but buildings won't send out their own trucks to another city to come back with resources, they will only send out full trucks to other cities. And yeah money is hard to come by with industries, because the major factories lower your production export output, and thus your income, while they're building. Then, when they export their own goods, your income spikes dramatically. So you no longer have a way to tell.
Kibz, use the warehouses to buffer the unique factory goods, they have many more trucks than the factories have. Also you need either silos or barns to store the crops some factories need.
So interesting to see that you haven't dealt with the warehouses and factories yet. You need warehouses near your resources, and near your factories. Don't forget to have warehouses for your final "special custom goods" which come out of the factories. You forgot to add in silos for crops next to the warehouses. Resources -> truck -> warehouse (basic goods) -> truck -> train -> truck -> warehouse (basic goods) -> truck -> factories -> truck -> warehouse (special custom goods) -> truck -> train station for export. The warehouses only have a ton of traffic when you first build them because they need to stock up. Once stocked the warehouses and unique factories don't have a lot of traffic. Don't let the trucks move the goods across the city, use the trains for that, create a separate set of tracks for trains to travel between the resources and the factories.
Cow leather car seats for cars, also minor suggestion, have your highway entrances and exits on one side of the highway so traffic isn't crossing lanes to exit shortly after entering.
@imkibits If you set your storage warehouses to FILL, not balanced, they will only accept material to supply your factories and not export it out of the city. So EMPTY in turn means it just keeps overstock to export only. Set your warehouses to FILL.
The city profit drops because the factories are using the exported goods, which is why it went back up once the factories started working/selling. Crops are needed to which use the regular silos

Maybe you should build a new harbor area near your unique factory area, but be careful with oil industrie traffic. Sorry for my poor english, Huge fan from Brazil!

I honestly struggle to understand how you so completely understand supply pipelines (conveyers, belts, trucks, trains) in some games but just can't quite manage to apply the same thinking to Cities:Skylines. Weeks and weeks of watching you miss the importance of storages and warehouses to control load-balancing and having distributed cargo train stations instead of massive hubs. Spend time limiting the way RNG can interfere. Limit the options that the AI has to randomly choose between. Give the AI one obvious choice and limit any others. Trucks should be short distance only. Make obvious, sensible, local train cargo alternatives that don't connect to (and thus jam up) the long-distance or intercity train network. Have long distance but not intercity routes too. Think modularly. How many mines can work through one single cargo station without overloading it? That's one module. Have the cargo station from one module of mines deliver to a module of processors and have a different cargo station send their product to factories, another that supplies to an export hub (without the trains running on the intercity tracks). Everything in modules, with reduced choices at any of the node points where those modules interact with others. Storages everywhere to keep the truck journeys to an absolute minimum. Take note of the truck capacities of each factory, storage, etc. If all of the trucks of any single one are on the road, you're over capacity.
Man I know this is a month late, but like. Just set up an arterial road system. ALL of your traffic problems will dissappear. Use 6 lane as your main road, whenever 2 six lanes touch, you stick a roundabout in. Use 4 lane medium roads as feeder roads that connect to the 6 lane. ONLY the 4 lane medium roads touch the 6 lane. Then use your small 2 lane roads to optimize zoning. these only connect to other 2 lanes, and 4 lane medium roads. 6 lane roads should be long and have very few intersections, medium roads should move traffic between your 6 lanes, and your small roads should bring traffic from production/manufacturing onto the medium roads. This will obliterate 90% of your traffic. Your megastations are dope and look really cool and work really well, but they build up with traffic due to lack of lane math. 6 lane road, one train station, 5 lane road, one train station, 4 lane road, one train station, 3 lane road, etc. And use the megastations on opposing sides of the city with small loops connecting to main highway in the middle that disperses traffic via roundabout/junction onto your six lane roads to filter back into the arterial system. For train tracks, use the same system. two lane tracks jump to 4 lanes before an intersection, with outside lanes filtering traffic out, with middle lanes as pass throughs. Traffic isn't dumb it'll sort itself out, you just have to give it a chance. Also, your cargo plane terminals have railroad tracks. This means that trucks will prefer to use that terminal instead of a cargo station as it has TWO outlets instead of one, naturally. This is what's causing so much traffic on them. For using TPME lane connector tools. DO NOT let one lane cross into other lanes into an intersction without a traffic light there. Your highway system clogs up because you let far right lane cross into far left lane and cut off middle lane traffic. Right lane exits, lose a lane right after junction, other lanes pass straight through. If there's a HUGE stretch of freeway between junctions, don't worry about the lane math, but use the lane arrow tool isntead of the lane connector tool. You can set a lane to ONLY turn right and not mess with the other lanes and let them be. This works a lot better than spaghetti tool 99% of the time. You would probably be making upwards of 750k in profit in your city if you stopped letting your traffic just clog up. Spamming more production for more money only works until your traffic system sucks and breaks. I'm struggling to watch your videos simply because of this, and I know I'm in the minority but 3-4 videos of it and fuck I'm raging at the traffic. I'm way too much of a perfectionist to let traffic get below 80%. I'll literally stop everything I'm doing and redesign junctions and traffic layouts till it fixes. One last thing. DON'T EVER HIT THE CLEAR TRAFFIC BUTTON it makes your traffic 10x worse. The goods don't leave, you just lose the constant flow of exports due to clearing traffic. They immediately respawn all at once and jam everything up in other areas that weren't problems before. Okay the last tip I'll give you for real: Once you fix traffic in one place, it will move to another. Fixing traffic is tedious and takes HOURS but keep at it and eventually the traffic will no longer be an issue. Until you expand. Then it will get worse. Way worse. Like meteors all over the city worse.

Way worse. Like meteors all over the city worse.
if only Cities: Skylines had Kibb's "boop" feature 😁
So glad to see you upload this. This series is why I subscribed
Cars and food products do go together sir. Leather wheel, leather seats, leather interior, pads on the floor could even be made of special wool...
Animal products for cars, because, at least some point in time, cow stomach acid is used for tires. Also, if you have leather seats, gonna need that material from somewhere.
How many millions? Kibitz: yes
Its a goob day when kblitz uploads
I love all of your random attention to details, cut ins of brief random thoughts amongst sderious thought, and overall this along with your personality of sarcasm and humerous atmosphere, without being too overbearing, meshed well amongst your serious thoughts and great builds with good sense of mechanics and control (other than go all out "new toys!" experimental fun as this vid is, which is great entertainment and nice breaks from serious build episodes. We see you do what we all do with release of new stuff trying to learn new mechanisms of integration to all the original stuff.).
You do really nice builds, offer good advice and ideas, and have a great balance of more "fun" vids, humor, great commentary, good all around package bro youre now in my top skylines tubers, along with czardus, imperial jedi, two dollars 20, city planners, and biffa. Got urself a sub, and i look forward to seeing more. Have a good one bro, and dont melt ur brain tryin to make all this work....it wont like this youll need ton more efficient train lines, many internal lines not connected to main line w specific shuttle routes linking key hubs...youll get it but i spent MANY hours and builds learning details of all interactions of all stages of production levels and where each level supplied into other things....its deeped than u think and will take much dedication.
if you actually read this, ive extensively studied ind DLC areas and how each level of goods feed next, in what ratio, how to balance all tiers as higher lelel produced goods supply multiple things not just in industry. How your storage can hinder your buildings getting goods if not done properly...ts a large amt of variables feeding off each other. (me being chem engr, i have adv. differential equations, multi- var calculus etc knowledge and a lot of free time) So if you wanna discuss oer pick my brain id love to do so, just msg if you are interrested and a better means of communic
Oh my gosh I hope you do a series for vr cities when it comes out! Please please!
Kibitz you should send your city to biffa and do a collab with him to fix your traffic problems I think it would be fun and interesting
Have a look at Biffa's traffic management. You'll learn a lot, and your productivity will skyrocket.
13:40 POV: you laughed and you humor is broken
Please do lane mathematics! It's such a simple, fast and extremely efficient solution for most of the traffic.
Select fill on the warehouses closest to the unique factories any surplus will be sold but it should mainly be going to the factories and plus there will always be more resources to go to the factories
That one highway setup could learn some stuff from a highway interchange in Georgia in the US. XD.
you should really do traffic managing, so satisfying!
You should do a city destruction video when the series is over😁😁
Good videos mate, been binging
I love the city skylins content that you are making cepp it upp
Your vids are very entertaining, the one city skylines series I actually enjoy
This is amazingly over engineered
about the car factory needing animal stuff, leather seats
I think Warehouses also store excess goods. You've got more than you need and then you get it exported. Your factories are using up some more of what you have now, but you just wait.
So you'll need to pop down a few warehouses by the cargo trains and cargo planes. Why waste space, after all?
U got me re-interested in this dlc
Great video!!! I have to assume the car manufacturer needs animal products for leather chairs
Your car factory is using animals for leather interior and worker sandwiches 🤙🏻
Maybe a collab with Biffa would help your traffic problems? ;)
Love watching some industrial imkibiz
The car factory uses leather for the seats and possible other stuff. Hence the animal products. :)
The car factory needs the animal products for leather
Remember kibs leather, which is often used in upper end cars, is an animal product
