Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Hangers that don't have access to the taxiways. Might be hard to ever get those planes out. Speaking of, how did they get loaded to begin with? 😄
The less expensive hotels cost a ton of money per week.. its significantly more efficient to use the bigger ones rather than the cheaper ones. It also is a lot more cost-effective.
For all practice and purpose, "efficient" and "cost-effective" means exactly the same, so your last sentence is just repeating the previous one. Which means your use of characters wasn't particularly efficient.
@@itsentdev you seemed to care. So much so that you completely failed to notice that maybe I wasn't so serious when I said that. But still, I'm truly sorry I insulted your fragile ego. As one of the other commenters mentioned, runway direction is primarily determined by the wind direction. As such, with parallel runways, the direction of travel would be the same. They could both move towards the terminal or away from it, but they would never be one of each. Beyond that, it also increases the chance of accidents when the runways are going opposite directions as, though very rare, landing on the wrong runway does happen.
As an avgeek im crying rn,the runways RIGHT infront of the terminal, the runways being short, the taxiways being weird and the hangers being outside of the airport is killing me 😂
Tbh it bugs me so much that the runways are WAY too small for any sort of big plane like they're being shown in-game, yet they still land there without so much as a hitch
I never got the hang of building airports in this game, but yours looks decent! You could add a helicopter thingy that is connected to your other helicopters. You know, things that fly go well together or something like that.
@@danielros7798 I mean there is an airport in the next city and I am 100 percent sure, they have a helicopter pad. I am not suggesting they should use the same runway. Just an observation.
Having a lot of big planes only makes sense if you have enough demand to warrant such large planes, which it doesn't seem like you do, and/or there are a lot of airlines with massive planes that want to land at your airport. With your current setup the vast majority of air traffic, that being more moderately scaled aircraft, are unable to use your airport. This is actually one of the major issues brought about by the rise of massive aircraft in the real world as well.
Airports should always be built by the sea or at least far away enough from the city in case it needs expansion in the future. Its a common problem many cities face, like Amsterdam Schiphol or Hong Kong Kai Tak. Also, those hangars should be INSIDE the airport. How can the planes move out if there is no taxiway? Do they drive on the road? Lastly, the runways should be better positioned. How can you have planes landing and steamrolling down the runway into the terminal building? In case of emergencies, planes may overshoot the runway and hit the terminal building. Its just a game, but for the sake of realism this isnt it.
Loving this series so far. I think it would be cool if you looked at some airport designs from other youtubers, such as city planner plays who build very detailed airports which are extremely realistic with parking, decorations etc.
Since I've been learning more about flying an aircraft lately, I find it interesting that they don't simulate some of the basics of airport design. The runways are set up with the typical wind patterns so the planes have a decent chance of taking off into wind and landing into wind.
Normally you should be able to connect cargo airport roads with normal ones so that the trucks don’t go through the cargo terminal. It might help if you ever have traffic problems or if it gives you an interesting idea
Loved this! The airport fits in that space really well! I wonder if some smaller aircraft stands would be more efficient now. I was thinking that they were perhaps cheaper and more filled up?
There's a mod for Mega Disasters. You can quite literally make a City Sized Crater with one asteroid, and then build am entire city in it. Which honestly sounds really cool to me. XD
I'd suggest adding maybe some low income housing and warehouses/supercenters (homedepot or ikea type buildings) outside the airport, and some high density commercial zoning right next to the airport and hotels for people coming too and from the airport to shop or get food. Looks great though love the episodes!
For the money fluctuation issue, the game give you the cash when stuff is sold. I guess adding an airport means you need to stack up goods before selling stuff, making it more variable. This is also why traffic have a big impact on money. This is my guess at least.
I would like to see some more realistic railroads. Freight trains are not trucks. They dont go uphill and downhill again to bridge a road. Instead the road usually goes underneath or above the rails, so the trains can stay on level ground. Maybe think about the idea of using sunken main roads and highways more often instead of putting arching overpasses everywhere. This would also aline with the walkable city theme. The highways and main roads should stay out of the way as much as possible and people should be able to walk over it without climbing uphill.
I just realised how epic Kibitz's city is! Like, can you imagine going out of an airport and seeing how a trair sweeps past and above you?!?!?! Or street full of monorails(I hope I called them right) and trains again?!?! Plus combined with walkable areas that add buty to all this is just.... 😵😵😵😵😵😵
I dunno if you already have, but even though this is a walkable city, you should build a cab service and take up tiny little bits of the unused space and replace a few trees with the cab stands. It might relieve like 1% of traffic congestion if you really invest in it as well as other public transport/biking/walking. Plus it would be really aesthetically pleasing for the airport district lol
Fire and police for airport. Make private runway and private mini airport and private mini hangers. Also due 2 medium size terminals at the very ends of the 2 edges to fill planes fully (less seats and less waste for weeks people don't fly out). Ensure you have a convention center thats worldwide known (somehow make it the best) year round tourists then!
Please remove hangers outside of airport andcan you had in fire and police helicopter depots? Other than that great build, in weird road areas and train areas be great place to cram a bunch of offices make it look goood
Remember when people used to connect the internal airport roads to the city and then complain it was a traffic monster? Or connected the train station to the wrong (external) side of the terminal? Or connected it to the right (internal) side of the terminal but got the first point wrong (connected airport roads to the city) making traffic even worse? Fun times. The plane stand didn't like being directly opposite the junction. It was fine when it was moved over. That was the difference. Fingers crossed you realise that the planes that want to arrive can't get off the runways onto the taxiway before the video ends. 🤞🤞 Hint: it's the node at the _other_ end of the runways!! Otherwise they'll use the runway itself as taxiway and occupy it unnecessarily. Change the ticket price until you're _just_ green. Making it too high reduces trips. Making it too low boosts attractiveness that isn't used. Boosting attractiveness, therefore, means you can charge more.
Not sure where else to put this, but have you ever heard of space engineers? It's a ship/base building game. No story or anything, kinda like Minecraft. But you can install mods to have npcs attack you or put huge cannons on your ship. I feel like you could have a lot of fun in it
typically airports with multiple runways have them at different angles so there are multiple landing options if a cross wind is in one bad direction. and runways are numbered based on their navigation angle so duplicate angles don't tell a pilot which one to land on.
“This is like the best city why are they leaving” Msimple! They are across you will call back on old habbits and put efficiency and profits above them! ThT is why you should have one way roads to your airport! Only let the dolls come from the airport!
I suspect your airport costs a lot of money, AND brings in a lot of money, and these sudden jumps happen when a plane lands, because the airport both COSTS so much, but BRINGS IN so much.

Those hangars and planes OUTSIDE of the airport are reaaaally bugging me lol. You have loads more space inside where you could put them
Was about to say that. Like, where are those planes even supposed to go? On the highway as transit?
Immediately went to typing the same thing. How are planes going to reach them!?

Search SODPROPS. We use it here in Australia under certain conditions- however for this airport would never have it, so you’re right.
I think it's better you swap the arrival runaway and the departure runaway. More tidy, trust me
And extend them. Now they are too short, it just looks unrealistic…
And the hangars OUTside the airport. While having the train station in the worst possible place...

Hey Kibittz, I love this series. Would you consider building a farming district? Clean industry with organic food to your people
10:45 The stands do not connect to intersections. That is what the issue is.
I never got the hang of building airports in this game, but yours looks decent! You could add a helicopter thingy that is connected to your other helicopters. You know, things that fly go well together or something like that.
