"Let The Groove Get In" - Justin Timberlake (Rudi Drum Jam)

- This tune has such a unique groove / feel to it - I always enjoyed jamming along to it since I first heard it years ago (I've wanted to make a drum video of it for a long time now - just never got around to it until I had all this extra time because of Covid19). So years later, HERE IT IS! Also, big ups to J.T. - a lot of his music has a very "proggy" vibe to me (especially considering that it's essentially mainstream / pop music). Long songs, interesting structures, unique grooves, etc. On top of that, I've always really respected how he's handled his career & general public presence over the years - seems like he's a pretty NICE FELLA! Nice people that make sick music are rad (furreal).
& if you're familiar with the song, you might notice that I changed it a bit structurally. I actually removed like, a solid 60-90 seconds of it, & did my own edit to the structure. Nothing against the original, I just felt like this structure worked better with the parts I'd come up with from jamming.
Mix was done by GOOD BUDDY Anup Sastry. I've become really fond of Anup's mixes for drum videos - he leaves the drums very natural & unprocessed. Not that I dislike the more "processed" sound many of my other videos have (Lol, I hella love that kind of sound too). But for certain songs, especially when paired with a visual aid like a drum video, the super natural vibe sits quite well to me. So big ups to him for being a SICK GUY! I just like this dude. Doesn't matter what he posts, I watch it.
well that's not good mate
FACTS
You developed so much limb independence that you'll eventually end up as a lonely torso waiting for his arms and legs to finish their evening stroll...
It's this perfect blend of tasty tone, intricate groove and wonderful dynamics that just makes your videos outright addictive to watch.
I can't even imagine how much fun it must be to play like that
Oh. My. God. Also Anup killing that mix.
As a newer drummer this is enlightening to see the chops in different applications
I just realized I've been listening to you for 11 years because I remember when you used to have long hair, crazy how you good you were then just to see how much better you are now

"Yes hello is this Alex?, Hi this is Justin Timberlake's manager"..
Well this shit just makes me smile. That snare sound is perfect.
Ok, so now I'm definitely buying the SLP G-Walnut Snare. Thanks, Rudi!
Timbaland is a big part of JT's grooves and over all mix of international flare in his songs. Always have been a big fan of Timbaland and his beats from a drummer's perspective.
Well done, Alex. Really enjoyed it.
Someone who i know without a doubt can blaze but choose to serve the song has my respect
Imagine this being your first Alex video, you'd have no idea he's a Metal God😂
Hahahaha,,true, must be shock to find out when scrolling for his others drum videos

I fucking love this song!!!! I jam it all the time. Love seeing your rendition. It sounded amazing!!
Every single lick and groove in this is so tasteful.. Aamzing!
Music is universal.
I knew that was a killer groove a few years back and Rudi just confirmed.
Underrated JT song twinned with Rudi’s grooves 😌
Yo soy tu fan🙋🏻♂️🤘🏼🥁
Wow nice cymbal hit right there at 4.29!
Holy $HIT Rüdi!! You really let the groove in
JT’s 20/20 album is dope and this is sick!

So strange to see you cover a pop song :o but i'm hyped
I mean, he's done it before.
"I mEaN, He'S dOnE iT bEfoRe"

I have a lot of fun playing stuff from the first two albums, never attempted anything from this one. Really awesome to see.
I always dig your work on techdeath and metal in general, but it's really cool to see you lay your interpretation on a different music style such as this!
Your fills are super creative. Awesome as always!
You make great choices dude! The crashes minus bass!? Ooooooweee! It’s so tasteful, so well arranged. Killed it dude!

I love it! Wish the backbeat came in a little earlier, but it's a nice build-up and when it finally kicks in, it's so good :)
TBH I thought I misread when I saw the YT notification but DAMN this is sooo good. I would love to see you jam to pop song more often. You killed that!
Deadly man🔥
Your varied music taste is as wild as mine, love it! Keep the videos coming man
Dude never disappoints. Absolute monster behind the kit !
Awesome! Still sounds metal somehow :D
skills yo!
Wow! It's amazing how Alex makes people want to play more drums. Even those who do not play, but feel this desire to be able to release all the positive and negative energy (Stress) in an instrument. Just like Ray Luzier (Korn) when I first heard it and felt an explosive energy with incredible turns and grooves. Dude, you're too inspirational. Still waiting for some Ordinance Play kkkkkkkkkk 🤟🏻✌🏻😎 Thanks Alex for making our days with your works and incredible music. I really like Justin and this one of the best Jam ever made. Hug! Sorry for the English kkkkkkk from Brazil! ✌🏻
Been a fan of this song for a long time. Great time staying within the track but killing it too man!

Rüdi wins, flawless victory! 🤘🏻🔥
Good shit. Snare sounds so tight, fucking attack is snapping. Stripper g string approved
Great!!! what's your model of drumstick? Congratulations from 🇧🇷🤘
RUDI GETTIN’ GROOVY!
You touring with Justin Timberlake would make me highly consider seeing him live... obviously just to see you tear it up 👍
I’m a huge metal head, but my wife is a massive JT fan. We went to see him live, and it was absolutely awesome. The arrangement of the songs is very different to the radio versions, and with his huge band it took everything to epic proportions musically. Would highly recommend seeing him if you get the chance, pop fan or otherwise.
Brian Fraser Moore who plays for him is so good though
Dayum ghost notes!
