This is one of the most challenging & unique pieces that I've ever learned, & is probably the most difficult on the entire album. & when I say "challenging", I don't mean the physicality of it (although, it is somewhat physically demanding too. Haha). I mean that it challenged me in areas I wasn't as confident in. The high-tom ostinato (for example) after the intro requires some serious limb independence, & took me a long while to get down. This is without a doubt one of my favorites from the album - much love to Sacha, David, & Joe for writing such phenomenal music, & inspiring me to try and come up with drum parts to match.

the passage at 2:45 is just fucking absolutely mind melting. and when you go to the stack with a moeller technique on the eighths. just fucking mind blowing. this song is forever one of the greatest pieces of music ever made. just brings me pure unadulterated energy every time i hear it. i cant ever not pathetically attempt to drum along to it. what else is there to say. this whole album hits differently and the drums are an incredibly daunting instrument to write for and you CRUSHED it. GOD DAMN. i cant even imagine seeing this live
This is just absolutetly incredible. It's that level of good where I know I'll never be able to play that good, but I ain't even mad, just happy for you, Rüdi. Especially after knowing out of how much pain this album was written for you. Your drums really do speak that story, especially in this song. Glad you made it out the other end my man.

@@MusaTariq25 I think theres a drumeo feature where he speaks about this. Basically he was going through a tough time mentally and at the same time had this extremely challenging music to write. To me it rendered to a pretty unique end result

Simply amazing. I remember when intonaut announced they needed a new drummer and I came and posted on Rudi's newest video at the time "wouldn't it be cool if Alex played for Intonaut" haha. Glad that worked out ;-)

Damn, what a treat to finally visualize your parts in this song and how they're done. There's some real technical stuff going on here but I love how well it meshes with the overall laid-back feel of the song. Fantastic drum writing!

I have so much fucking love in my heart and amazement in my mind when I watch this. The perfect performance, really fucking nailed it. This is my favorite band, and I was really heartbroken at the loss of my favorite drummer, but you sir really did the latest album justice, I can tell all the hard work that went into making it possible. well done! I have been a fan of yours since 2007 and you just really have grown tremendously, but your insanely talented.

There's something just really warm and mesmerising about the tom and cymbal work coupled with the guitars at 2:46. Just opens up so well and pulls you into the next part of the song.
Yeah, it's kinda like tumbling down a rabit hole, and when you're all the way down and the next part begins, it all makes sense. The cymbal accents really are the icing on the cake.

If you’ve practiced the song before, it’s not technically sight reading. The only way to sight read is to look over a piece of music you’ve never seen and play it. He probably has the sheet music as an aid to his memory.

Hahaha. He already knows the parts by memory, but the sheets serve as reminders (he's also probably looking at certain sections only to remember where a certain beat goes.) I guess it goes to show how complicated the piece is 😂

If you notice on the overhead cams, the sheets are right in front of him, above his rack toms, not to his left. Even so, I'm sure it's just general notes of hints for each section as reminders, not reading note for note.
EDIT: Scratch that, now that I full screen and look, it looks like sheet music lol. But it still doesn't look like he's reading it through as he plays.
Even worse. He says in his drumeo video that he will transcribe a song exactly as he plays it. Then he can reference it on the fly to make sure he plays it the same every time. FML
