- Shoutout to the homie Donovan Wetterstein from my Patreon! I hadn't really planned on doing a drum play-through for this song, but he mentioned to me numerous times that it was his favorite song from the album, & it got me thinkin'...! Recently started jammin' it again for the first time in a while, & decided to do it! It's a bit more chill (Lol, well, relatively speaking - it's still fairly tech at times), & is without a doubt one of my favorites to play from the album. So thanks for the recommendation, brotha!

& if you haven't already, please check out 'Fluid Existential Inversions' by Intronaut (links below!). Sacha, David, & Joe write incredible songs - it was really their writing that inspired me to come up with my drum parts. Truly a sick album that I'm incredibly proud / thankful to have been a part of. Big love to you three doodez!

The whole kit sounds amazing but the snare and kick are delicious!
Apareça!!!!
Volta pra nós Betão!
Thats the magic of a tama bell brass!
Truuu
That's all that matters in the end
That long math groove is so very satisfying. I feel bad for whoever Intronaut's touring drummer is.
Feel bad? I'm jealous, it's so tasty 😏
Their entire discography is a math groove
I was fortunate enough to see Intronaut in San Francisco last March, just before the COVID lockdowns began. I was so disappointed when I found out that Alex was not playing with them live, but the guy who ended up playing drums for them was a beast and played Alex's parts pretty faithfully. Sadly they only played like 4 songs.
Before covid, Ash Pearson played with then it was Matt lynch from cynic
00:38 is a SICK fill!!
Man, it's such a delight watching you play the drums. Every single hit sounds so clean and "just right". Thank you for your videos, I'm enjoying them tremendously. Greetings from Austria.
let's put another shrimp on the barbie! XD XD XD
@@suma5939 Wrong continent, mate ;)
@@Iamwrathster dude that was a joke from a movie :D
jim carrey's character confuses austria for australia. little movie called dumb & dumber?
@@suma5939 Oh, sorry. It's been too long since I've seen that movie to remember that. Also, I've met too many people genuinly confusing the two countries. ;)
Amazing song, amazing band, amazing drummer, amazing everything.
I hope bad things happen to whoever gave this a thumbs down. No matter your ilk or what kind of music you're into, you should be able to recognize how freaking awesome this guy is.
People with low self esteem and little to offer the world, other than negativity. The planet's covered in them.
That section at 2:40 sounds like clockworks by meshuggah as far as the drum pattern goes.
I thought the same thing!!
i literally just made that comment and then saw yours lol What a crazy poly rhythm segment !!
5/4 polyrhythm
Yoooo 100% but then he throws a linear fill out of it, so good!
Kudos to that China stand and the middle tom arm for hanging in there under pressure
it's like a rule of life or something that china cymbals are always either completely falling apart or supported by some arcane wizardry of tape and willpower
This is the perfect balance mic wise. Snare has a lovely crack. Cymbals not too loud and nice and sharp and not too much sustain. This one is my fave Rudi! Officer down was my fave for brutality and complexity but this hands down beats it. 🤙🏻
I love the combo sound of the kick cymbals. Crisp but not pitchy
Math is hard... Insane Rudi, absolutely insane!
My favorite song from the album to be honest.
That blast beat fill made my cry!
Snare so clean it hurts!!!
yo i love that part as well, just half a second of WHUMPWHUMPWHUMPWHUMP and then back to business lol
I had no idea intronaut was still around. Heard them on a compilation almost a decade ago, always liked their sound. Dreamy w good vocals.
Better than that Alex did the drumming on the last album.
Not my favorite vocals by them, but that’s ok
Their new album from last year is pretty great. Fluid Existential Inversions. Check it out!
I don't like the clean vocals
@@behindthen0thing525 I literally only heard 1 song by them, it was long and I thought the vocals sounded like Alice in chains. Also liked the odd timings, reminiscent of tool... Again my sample size is extremely small.
Intronaut has a thing with their final songs on albums really touching me deep down inside and the drums in this song are so fucking perfect!!
Alex, that was insanely good man! The control, creativity and flow are next level. I already was a big Intronaut fan but your contribution makes it my favorite album. Would be super if you could team up with them again for their next album. Thanks!
Been loving intronaut, by far my most listened to band over this past month. Glad to see the love from the comments. Keep it going good buddies.
So good. Honestly one of my favorite to watch play. Fuckin killing it man.
Such a shame to not see you with Intronaut going forward. Best of luck to you Alex.
what??
@@cashwr69 Alex served as a session drummer for Intronaut for the Fluid Existential Inversions album. It seems like a one-off thing though.
That Thomas Lang Super Stack sounds excellent 👌🏼
You play like the drumset owes you money and I fucking love it
Unreal as usual.
Great way to end an album, a fantastic one at that. Deadly kit as well!
AMAZING AS ALWAYS!!!
Insanely creative work!
I've been playing 6 months and I can tell there's likely no way I will ever be able to play something like this lol.
amazing!!
KUDOS for that segment at 2:39 to 3:00 !!! That is a tough poly-rhythm to play man. Love the videos, addicted to your The Faceless play-throughs. Metal horns from Canada
I love the tone of your snare!
Mix is fuckin' 🔥🔥🔥🔥, so is the playing. This Intronaut series of videos might be my favorite out of everything you've ever done, so good. Whole song is groove madness.
You are incredible on this album dude. I love this song. I love this album.
Tama must have hired Pearl drum engineers to work on their kits in the past decade. They sound so much better these days.
That aside, you're a truly master percussionist. I love watching you drumming.
Pearl drums sound like shit lol
My favorite track on the record, and I have NO IDEA how one can not only play it but EVEN COMPREHEND it.
Alex if you have already done this or addressed the issue I apologize,But could/would you ever consider doing a video on how you tune your kit?I think a lot of us(myself included)would love to know how you get such a great sounding kit!!I say this knowing some if not most is due to your recording/engineering etc,But still might be helpful to those of us who appreciate how awesome your kit sounds!!!Thank You in advance!!!
Intronaut is my favorite band and it's such a joy to hear and see you play your talent and kit are amazing!!! These are the biggest drum shoes to fill for me and I really think you did this band justice with your style!
Amazing work as always!!!
Sick
Dude amazing sound and spot on. I love this video. Such my jam. Thumbs up. Like the giant roll at the end
that little bit of overtone in the snare sounds so good. feels like every snare in music these days is devoid of all personality!
Absolute madness. Jesus
"que precisión"... Master this is amazing!!! :O :O :O
Wow! Amazing as always, good job.
It's literally emotional playing, just love that... Thx Rüdi
Damn, sure makes a guitar player's life easy. That groove is so smooth and spaced out.
Thank you, Alex. These videos are always a highlight in our bleak little lives.
Clearly I need to listen to more Intronaut. This jam was sick, or summet. Did anyone else hear Porcupine Tree (Shallow)? Totally mint!
I really enjoy watching Him play drums. Expert skill! Especially at the end.
Fantastic playing as always.
This guy is a monster...jaaayyzuus!!
Wow what a composition. This is impressive as hell, Kudos to you gents who wrote and can play this
Man oh man. Being Danny's successor had to have been a tall task. You definitely did it
This sounds amazing as always bro
This is sick as always! ❤️💀👍🏽
This is my favorite song on the album. Great drumming!
Mannnn!!! That kick sounds it's amazing
That snare drum is amazing
Representing Frederick, Maryland for real right here!! I am waving from down the street my friend keep doin u!!
Really digging the two floors (14 and 18 I presume) on your left. That really opens up for creative opportunities.
But most importantly; incredible playing as always. The dynamic change really adds great flavour to it
Those new pedals look sick! 🤘🤘
Also mind boggling that someone could toss a dislike on something like this!
my fav song from this masterpiece of album
Drumkit sound couldn't be better! GREAT WORK, THANKS
Awesome work my dude! As always...
Always works with the bad boy look at the end 😂 Hillarious play along!
Dude having two floor toms to the left of your kit is sick!
Snare sounds amazing! 🙂👍
Imagine that the next time you sit at your drums you decide to try and mimic Alex’s style you find that somehow you are sounding every bit as good as him.... and it feels so amazing that you are terrified of stopping just in case it never happens again. Haha! Okay no more coffee for me.
This grooves so hard!
Yes. Thanks, was waiting for another intronaut play through. Go terps 😬
That snare slaps
Dude, your fills past the 5 minute mark are so clean.
Alex ,
Covering Intronaut that’s a different level of drumming.
Really well done. !!!
He's not covering Intronaut on this video, he wrote and played on their last album which includes this song.
Mad impressive. Really dig the new pedals btw!
I love how snare tune match with the guitars
Sooooooooooo good 🤘🏼
Frick yeah!! He killed it
0:38 damn! You keep adding more interesting stuff every time.
Saw that new vid notification am I’m HERE for it haha
Rudi you kicked ass in the whole album
omfg
Duuuude....SIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCKKKKK!!!!!😎😎😎😃👍
When I see that notification I know it's going to be something great from this man
Also this is amazing, great work as always!
Jordan, do you happen to know if your related to Andrew Schoepke?
@@krishiatt7203 I am not
@@jordanschoepke1864 Thanks man, have a good rest of you're day.
When you drop check your misfortune im gonna lose my shit
Niiiice, and that ending was crazy, I still don't have it figured out yet 🤪😂
So cool dude!
0:38.... оО
Bravo!
Oh yeah, that reminds me.
...
I have to go practice...
SHAKAS!
Amazing...
Amazing kit and amazing drummer!!! How you remember all these changes??How many times you play it before you recording??
SHIIIIIII!
Cloudkicker sando needs some respect
Dude, i completely bugged out. I swear ive heard already the intro riff in a Cloudkicker old soundcloud demo, many years ago. Then, what you know, it is Bens riff indeed. I guess theyve been good friends since they toured as Cloudkicker.
Must say I think the riff was a bit lost in this song, specially with this vocals. Ben wouldve done a better job i guess.
@@danilobleal I 100% agree, but it’s still a great riff and certainly a real highlight of the album.
I would really like to see how you set your double pedal settings and what your approach is on the matter. It doesn't really seem like they're super tight or that you kick super hard.
GOD
I hope you guys join up again to record another album together!
fuck that brass snare is so killer!!! X_X
Dat snare sound
Love the thumbnail
damn, man...
Bell Brass 🖤
You are a fucking machine dude.
I’m a guitar player but the drum mastery at that 5:52 mark (overhead cam) melted my face completely off of my skull. I’m trying to gather myself but keep watching so... can someone please explain what the hell was happening there?
