AHH we literally have the same type of hair!! I use the same products! I would suggest applying the curl enhancing smoothie first all over like you did and take three sections of your hair on each side and apply a little more and twirl it outwards! And don’t touch it too much to reduce frizz! Also maybe try waiting only like only 5 min after you’re out the shower so your hair can be super wet when you style it! I hope this helps! I also use a diffuser and have noticed such less frizz!!
Also one more thing ! When you first apply the curl enhancing smoothie, kind of apply it by flattening your hair with it first and then split the sections like I said! Then you apply more to each section and then you scrunch! So you cause less frizz!!
@@Dentaldays CARLA, I came back to say your suggestion works and there's barely any frizz omg!! I applied more product, made it flat like you said, then finger twirled, and scrunched less. The result is AMAZING. THANK YOU BAE!!
It's so nice to find other Asian women showing their wavy hair routines because I feel like we have such a different texture to our hair/waves. I've been trying to transition my hair for the past five months and grow out my bleached ends. It's been a bit frustrating to see that my hair continues falling straight on some days, but I know that this is a long process that I need to be patient with. Anyways, I'm really glad I came across this video and I'm so happy to find another Asian wavy!
Another wavy asian! I’m Peranakan Chinese and My natural hair is extremely like hers, except dark brown. Wavy, Frizzy/puffy, fine hair. I always struggled to style it and would straighten it. Wow. It’s also real thick at the back but thinner at my sides
Im Vietnamese like you, and for some reason I didnt think “our genetics” could have anything but pin straight hair lol. My hair started to change in texture around last year. I had pin straight hair before, but now the texture is definitely more on the wavy side. The same thing happened to my mom, but she never knew how to take care of it, so its just frizzy. You are the first person I saw on IG who opened my eyes to the possibility of having wavy hair! Thank you for your tips, I will definitely treat my hair to some moisture now! 🥰
I am not Asian but it is amazing how much hair changes. I used to have generally straight smooth hair when i was a kid and then when I was a teen it became SUPER curly and frizzy, and now that i'm an adult is a mix of wavy and curly. Always changing 😂
This is so true and i used to feel like such a fraud for not having the same texture of hair since birth! I used to have a stright, uniform legth bob my whole childhood and when i started to grow it around age 13, it was pretty wavy and kept getting wavier, and i kid you not-- I have a whole head of curly hair now and some parts are COILY, its insane how hair changes, but ive been told it has to do with hormone shift, and its true that this change happened around puberty so that explains it lol
Oh the joy, I'm also Vietnamese. But my hair has been wavy(not straight) for a long time probably since I was 10, (or was it 8, now that i think about it i had a bob shoulder length hair where my hair would curl into my shoulders but still look straight and then after cutting because it was too long, that's when the nightmare happened 😅) that and i always dyed it because I also have grey hair since 12yo 😥. But I'm 26yo now and I'm trying to learn how to make my hair nice and not frizzy. Accepting my curls and not always straightening it. It can get super curly, all I've tried so far is pump 2 in 1 cream, and the Shea moisture enhancing smoothie, but no gel. Thinking gel might help the frizz. Or it's my technique lol
Omg yes! I am not Asian but same thing happened to me. I used to have soft and straight hair too but now its frizzy and I dont know how to style it. My family never knew how to style their wavy hair lmao. Let's break this cycle guys!
Finally found a fellow Vietnamese with the same hair type after years of straightening my hair out, thinking I was weird lol. Seeing mostly people with tight curls doing CGM, I was sooo discouraged. But hey, glad I followed you on Instagram! Thanks for the tips, gorgeous!
I’m not Vietnamese, I’m Italian but have the same hair type as the girl in the video. I started caring for my hair around two years ago. Don’t feel discouraged, remember that almost everything you see on the internet (especially on Instagram) is not only the absolute *best* picture they could have taken, but it’s also the *best* lighting they had, the *best* filters and editing skills they developed over time... I’ve also felt discouraged when I was following the CGM and comparing myself with the other girls on ig, thinking “why is their hair looking so beautiful and mine isn’t?”. Then I ditched the CGM and I started doing what *I* felt it was best. Now my hair is looking better than ever. So yeah, if CGM works for you, great. But remember that it doesn’t fit everybody and it’s okay to change things up a bit! Sorry for the word vomit lol.
Its so happy to see someone else with the same Thick poofy wavy hair type 😆 it has been a struggle for me to find the right methods and hair care routine bcs some days my hair just won’t cooperate well and ends up very oily or very dry after wash day. Thank you for this video! Really need it and I’m definitely doing this for my next wash day 🥰
I’ve done chemical straightening ALL MY LIFE. Thank you for this video!!! I’ve been wanting to learn to embrace my natural hair after a straightening gone wrong!!
My hair was a mixture of curly, wavy, and straight, and now it's wavy and straight. Thing is... it's also thick and it really adds to the volume of my hair and I don't know how to take care of it. Lately though, it's mostly been straight rather than wavy but there are days where it's not straight at all and forms waves even when I didn't put my hair up. My hair got a life of its own. Maybe I'll try this routine out and see what happens!
How is your hair now? Did this work for you? That sounds similar to mine except mine used to be curly when I was a toddler and it’s been wavy/straight ever since
Ugh yes, finally found someone with the EXACT same hair type as mine. I'm from India and the humidity over here just makes it worse for me to manage my hair. You're soo pretty! I can't wait to order the products you used on your hair. Hope it works 🤞🏼
Hey, same here! I have been on the curly hair journey since almost a year now, maybe more. I use mamaearth's onion shampoo and conditioner, sometimes wella's deep conditioner for curly hair, then i use wella's hair mousse (if that's how you spell it). Then I let it air dry (without touching my hair, cause that gets in the way of the cast formation, but swaying them so they dry faster) and when I know for sure that my hair is completely dry, I use a serum and scrunch out the crunch. It gives me beautiful and voluminous waves. I am going to be buying a diffuser and a curl cream soon for even better results. I hope this helped but if it didn't, I'd like to know about your curly hair routine if that's alright with you. If not, good luck to you ♥️♥️
Do you detangle your hair everyday??because you know na in Indian schools braids are everything and when i comb my hair they are so puffy I really need a advice
@@manasvi5682 A wide teeth comb would do. I do have wavy hair and this comb doesn't flattens out my waves and also doesn't cause frizz. I know the school thing so I've always been a wide teeth comb person. Hope that helps!
So many n I repeat SO many of us specially Asians have wavy type of hair and we get so confused about whether it's straight or curly. This video definitely deserves a raise for my wavy queens 👑 out there! I'm definitely trying this for my hair.
omg finally someone who describe their hair that is exactly like mine. it's wavy, frizzy and straight. I wasn't born with wavy hair. after cutting my hair short when I was 13 (2016), my hair started getting wavy as it grow. I didn't know it at first so i just straighten my hair everyday before school because i didn't like how it looks. I watch videos about how to know if my hair is actually wavy or not. I started scrunching my hair when it's wet and that's when my wavy hair is more noticeable and much nicer i would say. when I was 15 (2018), my hair is not only wavy but some of them are in big curls. some people even thought i did my hair. it was probably my fav hair phase .Then when i was 17 (2020), my wavy hair started to loosen ,more hair was starting to appear straight. I then cut my hair short again in 2021 and kept it at shoulder lenght that whole year. my hair is almost straight but still have volume. It's not at all as wavy as before. im not sure why. maybe my hair does not appear wavy if i have short hair. but isn't that weird to you? bcs it is to me. I'm gonna start to let it grow long now .if it does become wavy when it's long then my question would be answer. that i will have almost straight hair when it's short , and wavy when it's long.
yoo me too! My hair used to be straight but after I turned 10(?) it started getting wavier after each trim until it got how it is now. I get some curls and some straight hairs lol. Hair is weird, hormones probably have smth to do with how much yours fluctuated. Try different routines/products maybe? That’s what I’m trying to do rn, it’s so hard finding products tho :(
I have hair types 2a all the way to 3a on my head. The hair on the back of my head is more wavy while the front is curlier. If i don’t use gel it just turns into a wavy, hyper frizzy mess. It’s a nightmare to deal with.
I’m trying to start this new hair journey as someone who just realized they have wavy hair from treating it as straight all my life.. But I’m so overwhelmed from all the products and it’s like, where do I even start? Ugh
Thank you so much for this video! I’m also Vietnamese & noticed my dad has wavy hair and I didn’t think I did until I decided to grow my hair out during the pandemic and I’m absolutely astonished and so stoked to take care of it!! I know absolutely nothing!! lol thanks again definitely going to incorporate your hair routine into my daily life!
Also whenever you shower on days that aren’t wash days do you keep your hair dry in some kind of hair mask/put up or do you still get it wet and condition it for the day?
seeing your hair journey gives me hope on my hair , i’ve been loosing hair and having wavy hair doesn’t help when so many treatments aren’t always made for all hair types.
I use the prewash serum too! It actually says to use 1-2 "dropperfuls" not drops haha so you might not even be using enough of it. I'm a boy so my hairs def not as thick as yours but it's long so I usually section it into 4 parts and use half a dropper for each one.
I’ve gotten a straight perm in 2019 and it’s been YEARS since I got a cut. So right now I have inches of straight ends with my wavy/curly roots. I’ve been finally getting into taking care of my wavy hair so I’m so happy I found you!
If you don't mind the frizz, ignore this comment, but when you're hair is frizzy wet, it's gonna be even more frizzy once it dries. Don't scrunch your hair so much. It causes friction which causes your hair to frizz. Also, I'd ditch the comb and use a denman brush or a paddle brush.
I was a bit worried that there wasnt any Asian working with wavy hair but there’s so much more then I thought. I just learned that I’m “supposed” to take care of my hair a certain way because it’s wavy. Thank you so much for sharing your routine.❤❤🥰
The reason your roots dry slower is because processing your hair (color/chemical straightening/ect) weakens the hair and breaks down the proteins in the hair causing it to have more open cuticles (high porosity) as opposed to you natural hair which has a lower porosity. Doing protein treatments prior to any kind of processing or high heat manipulation can help mitigate damage. Curly Chemistry here on UA-cam is a great resource for the science behind the anatomy of hair and how and why certain products work on hair at a molecular level in an easy to understand format. Also defusers can help dry the hair if you don't have time to air dry.
FINALLY I found someone who has the same hair as mine. when I was younger I thought my hair is just damaged from rebonding over the years. this is very helpful! thank you!
I NEEDED THIS SO MUCH!!! Asian girl with wavy hair here and i have no idea how to care for it!! It's so frizzy and i've had so many struggles over this but i'm so excited to follow this !! Thank you so much 😭
Over time, my hair has gotten waves and curls due to my dads genes. I come out of the shower with waves but my hair will dry straight because I have lots of hair and the water weighs my hair down. I'm going to look for products to help make my hair less frizzy, more smooth and shiny, and still help me keep my waves. Thank you for sharing your routine, hopefully it will help me on my journey to take good care of my hair and figure out what is best for it!

Just a thought, I used to use H&S as a shampoo for years as well, for the exact same reason (dandruff). However, during the first lockdown when I also started my wavy hair journey and started using the curly-method recommended shampoos, I've noticed my dandruff disappearing. I think H&S is really good at cleaning but not really at the "removing the cause" of dandruff, which was probably dry scalp due to the dryness of my hair. With the curly girl method and adding more moisture to my hair, that changed - and also, using one of those rubber scalp brushes that remove the dead skin cells off the scalp. It worked for me, might not work for you, but could be worth trying, seeing that H&S tends to dry out the hair. But on the other hand, the other steps in your routine do reintroduce the moisture back into your hair, so the downsides of the shampoo shouldn't be too problematic :)
if youre still having some dundruff i reccomend selsun blue shampoo. my scalp healed from that shampoo and if im having a build up i would use it once a week(i rarely use it now). her hair looks dry and its probably because of h&s. my hair looks like her hair right now (wavy, frizzy and puffy) before staring cgm but now my hair is shinny and curly after cgm. i wish she would try it.
Try using some acidic products to seal the cuticles and reduce frizz and porosity! (like Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate) When finishing the hair, use gel at the end or fixing mousse and then when it is dry, break the hard with oil! You will love the result! Kisses from Brazil.
Helpful informative video Actually ♥️♥️. I'm Just putting notes don't worry about this lecture written up 😂
When you scrunch out the scrunch you need to use a little bit of oil to avoid the frizz but your hair looks good girl! Dont feel bad about the hair coloring, just use hair mask and everything is gonna be fine❤ Greetings from Puerto Rico 🌟
Love this. We have the same kind of hair. Finally ! My top layers are curly wavy and the bottom layers are like straight. I haven’t had my hair relaxed since 2017 but it just won’t do it’s thing 🤦🏻♀️
yess kinda same! Some bits of my top layers and bangs are wavy (they go in different directions even tho i have curtain bangs) and the rest is straight!
This really helps me to see another Asian girl with the same hair type as me 🥰 I’m Chinese and everyone in my family has sleek straight hair, but mine was completely frizzy, to the point where a Hong Kong hairdresser called me explosive hair girl in Cantonese in public😭. My mum made me get my hair chemically straightened but it would only last 6 months, and I was made to feel bad that I didn’t have straight hair. It took me until I was 24 when a hairdresser told me my hair was curly and all I needed was to add curling product in to get my natural curls out. Now I’m no longer embarrassed to wear my natural hair and have stopped straightening it! ❤
6:54 - That’s what I’ve recently been doing! I use most of my products sparingly and I have these 2 deep conditioners/leave ins and I just didn’t know how to use them up as I was using another leave in at the time. I remember Stella Cini mentioned how she used treatments in her wash routine, rather than conditioner and wondered if I could do the same with leave ins/deep conditioner. I also love to use head and shoulders as I double cleanse my scalp, so it just removes all the build up I may have and then I go in with my regular shampoo. We also have a similar hair pattern, I’m just soo happy you found a routine and products that are working for you. I hope you continue having positivity in your journey and I hope you and your loved ones are well. Best wishes lovely~ 🍂✨ - So far, I honestly love it. I have 2b-3a type hair, mainly loose ringlets and waves, and I felt like as I got older, my hair started to become thinner. Since adding the leave in after I apply my conditioner, I’ve noticed my hair feel so much healthier and thicker, so I definitely agree with you on that. What I do: 1. Apply about a quarter size of conditioner and spread throughout hair and detangle lightly if need be 2. Next, get a swoop/dollop (roughly 2 nickel or quarter sized) of my leave in, rub it in my hands (“to warm up”), lightly wet my hands/product (leave ins/deep conditioners are often heavy) and spread it throughout my hair, mainly focusing on the ends. 3. Then I add about a nickel size of conditioner and mix it with water, just because I do like that slippy feel. 4. Let sit for at least 5 min. 5. Rinse (I also use head and shoulders at least every 1x or 2x a week, just to clean away extra build up, and I double shampoo my hair, so first I go in with head and shoulders, and then go in with my regular shampoo.)
It’s so bizzare I’m Indian and I have exact hair like yours , a wavy , curly , straight I’ve all kinds of strands , and I’ve LOT of hair and Indian THICK hair. It’s a task to manage them but finally learned the key steps last year in quarantine. Finally found someone with the same hair 😍😍
I’m Hispanic and Asian , omg I got the same hair as you !!! Thank Gooooood. I was like yo I don’t have anyone’s hair type all I see is curly or straight. Like this type of hair is honestly bomb af. In my opinion it does it self some days. Super voluminous, great for braids , I’m not into pin straight hair either though , every time I tried it , it just never stayed straight , it always got wavy and big again .
aphogee two step protein treatment or their curlific texture treatment works so well for any kind of damage or if you need a protein boost here & there! def my fave when i had heat damage.
I would recommend scrunching the crunch out with some oil. It’ll help prevent more frizz and may even tame some of the frizz you already have going on.
bingewatching your hair videos coz i have a similar hair type and i just finished my awkward straightened-to-natural curly hair transition phase by chopping off the last bits of rebonded hair.. your vids are so helpful! never going straight again
I’m so glad to have come across your channel. My hair is EXACTLY like yours and I’ve coloured my hair, chemically straightened it, and cut it in layers too hahahaha. I haven’t related to anyone in such a long time. Idk why but I trust you with guiding me correctly to tame my waves and finally end up loving them. Thank you for making these videos. I’m totally delighted!!
Looove the products you use! They work so well with my hair too! I usually scrunch with a shirt so reduce frizz. I noticed that when I use my hands, it gets frizzy
i have litteraly been looking for a video like this for the longest time, but since my hair is so thick, wavy, and dry ,(same as yours) its hard to find one good for me.Glad i found you it has helped me alot.
I like it big but it’s also equally important for me to have it long. I love anything that helps to protect the length. I learned I need cool water instead of lukewarm water in order to protect my hair. I had to get a special shower filter too because I’m super sensitive to chlorine and other things that are very high almost everywhere in American tap water... and also, this greatly helps my hair and my skin.
Thank you UA-cam recommendation for finally giving me something about wavy hair!!! I think as a kid I had pin straight hair but damaged it by consistently being in the pool and beach. It resulted in my hair being super dried and weird waves! Ima try to follow your routine cause right now all I’ve been doing is using shea moisturizer shampoo n conditioner. Then a leave in conditioner, coconut oil. It’s still very dry and frizzy. So idk I think ima try your method to see if it’ll work out for me.
I’m so glad I found a viet girl with the same hair texture as myself. I’m viet too born and raised in sgn. I hated my hair growing up cuz it was always frizzy and wavy in a messy way. I got teased so much in school so I asked my mom to get it chemically straightened at age 12. I would get it done once or twice a year cuz the wavy root came back and I wanted to get rid of it. Last year I cut off all the treated part and let my virgin hair grow out on its own for the first time. Best decision I’ve made for myself. Now I know how to take better care of it thanks to your video 🥰
this is so great, I have a SUPER similar hair pattern to you and I was so frustrated with buying products, and my long damaged hair frizzing up anyways, I cut it all off to my shoulders!! its all virgin now and its doing sO WELL and growing fast (it was so dry and damaged before it grew so s l o w)!! I love seeing videos like this of the actual journey for someone like me still figuring it out and healing their hair, and seeing the frizz, but also acknowledging the small wins!!
I have the same hair type and Head and Shoulders can be good apparently, but on the long run I noticed thats was the reason for my frizzy hair so I changed to Olaplex and I can’t go back after the outcome. ❤️
@@ash1186 I don't think it's supposed to moisturize but to repair the bonds. on the treatment packet itself, it says to use a hydrating hair mask afterward... maybe you can try that? I hope you get it to work, wasting money on products that don't work is sooo infuriating. so yeah I have curly/ Wavy hair and it used to be really dry, now I have a rotation of masks (olaplex 0&3 being one of them) I do and my hair is doing great
Please know that one reason to wash hair less often is that every time water evaporates from your hair, it's making it drier. It's like licking chapped lips. Evaporation is drying/damaging. Therefore I don't think you should keep rewetting your hair so much. The best thing is simply to work quickly out of the shower with your sopping wet hair. Put in a few products, scrunch, and then stop touching it. Rewet it *maybe* once to comb out any wet frizz (if you have any) and then scrunch just one more time. Wavy hair will wave up a lot on its own. You could have a lot less frizz IMO. You are very beautiful, btw!
I’m SO happy I found your tiktok bc we have the same hair type rather o just treated my hair as if it was straight bc I didn’t know how to actually treat it being the only one getting my dad’s gene of wavy hair while all my siblings have straight, but then my friends always kept pointing out the fact that the ends of my hair would always wave so I’ve recently been trying to treat it like the hair type it actually is rather than straight hair :)
I have pin straight hair so I don't know why I'm watching this but just wanted to say that you look so stunning 😍 I love your thick and voluminous wavy hair and rarely see that in fellow asians, I always thought they styled it in waves or curls. I wish I had hair like that 😊
We have similar hair texture 🥺 Okay this is very pretty, but for me it is too much step, too much energy, too much effort, too much products, too much money, and need a lot of patience which i cannot 😭💔🥺😍 you’re so good at it! Your natural hair is pretty!
I recently cut my hair super short and im growing it back all natural (I had a Japanese permanent straightening and color in it before). Starting from a fresh canvas and doing it right this time. Gonna learn to love my natural hair. Wish me luck!
Where have you been all my life? It’s so great to see another Vietnamese woman with the same here as me! I’m Vietnamese and African American and I’ve struggled with frizzy hair my entire life. My hair used to be very curly when I was little bit I think my curls got damaged from my mom using heating tools on me to straighten my hair. I never felt good about my hair and like you, I’ve experienced some unpleasant encounters with an Asian hairs stylist. I’m seriously so ha[[y I found your channel. Cam on ban. ❤️
First I just wanna say you’re so pretty!!! 🥺❤️ Your smile is gorgeous. I’m Cambodian with very similar hair and I have an amazing shampoo and conditioner recommendation!! The function of beauty wavy hair shampoo and conditioner is life changing for us Asian girls bc the conditioner isn’t sooo heavy that it weighs down our waves but it’s moisturizing enough to make our hair soft. It also smells so good! The brand is at target and it’s about 10 bucks!
I'm Cambodian too and having wavy hair their is a bit weird, I had straighten my hair with some chemical to keep straight 2 times? And straight it even can't remember but after I came to USA I'm starting to love my natural hair
we have the same hair type and I have always hated it too. I am happy I found this video! Trying to get my natural waves back and learn how to love them.
I know you said that the Head and shoulders shampoo works for you but I'd HIGHLY recommend you'd get a different shampoo especially one without sulphates since you suffer with dandruff from time to time. I'm sure you've heard but Head and Shoulders are currently going through a lawsuit because they have this chemical in their shampoos called DMDM hydantoin I believe which promotes hair loss and is very bad for your hair even causing cancer in some instances. So that shampoo might possibly be the reason some sections of your hair are thinning or even that your suffering from dandruff to begin with (I know ironic right? Its a dandruff shampoo yet it might be causing the dandruff). But since you use the Shea moisture conditioner I highly recommend any of their shampoo especially the more moisturising lines such as the manuka and shea butter lines. I hope this helped!
omg... i have the same type of hair and i always felt embarrassed of it growing up, sometimes still do and tend to straighten them a lot. thank you for making this video! i didn't know other ppl had the same hair type as me
Love this! I've been going through the same hair journey since the pandemic started and I love the results! I use the same brand for shampoo and conditioner, Miss Jessie's Pillow soft curls and an anti-frizz cream (still looking for a good one) and just scrunch and let my hair air dry. It works but I'll definitely use the hair oil tip and see the results!
Bro, we literally have the same hair type down to the same scalp issues😭🥺 it’s so reassuring to know! Like ugh, my hair is so curly in the front section (that frames my face), but the rest of it is all straight but poofy🥲 and no matter how I condition it, it just gets frizzier and frizzier that not even a hair band holds them down now
I have the same type of hair! I hate it every time i go to the salon they would asked me to straighten my hair 🥺. It’s like you must have straight hair for it to be manageable. Hello, I want to embrace my wavy hair. I think it’s pretty common in Asia/South East Asia to have straight sleek hair.
Im half Taiwanese and have wavy hair too! (except that it may be a bit looser than yours but I didn't know how wavy it could be until recently because when I was younger it was pin straight and its gotten wavier as I've gotten older) This vid is amazing thank you sm I'm going to see if this method works on my hair :p
I have wavy hair too and growing up I hated it. this looks like a lot of work, but I'll probably start incorporating some of these products into my hair routine =)
I will totally recommend you to try a different dandrif shampoo because the one your using yes it does work but it makes your hair really dry even if you use conditioner oh and wash your hair with cold water I have been doing this for so long and it makes your hair so silky and soft and helps with friz and when you sleep you can use a silk bonnet to sleep and silk pillowcase it helps make sure you hair does not get split ends when you sleep or friz.
Your routine was to interesting to see from someone with dead straight hair! I am also studying hair so I am trying to learn about every hair type. I thought I would add, you might be finding you get drandruff from a product build up. I might be wrong and it could be many other reasons but from watching your routine I think that could be it. You use a lot of products pretty close to your scalp which will build up over time especially for someone with hair as thick as yours. If you can I would place the products only to your mids to ends the only with any left overs on your fingers work your way up. Because if you could move away from using head and shoulders that will really really help with helping your curls. Head and shoulders is so drying and when curly hair gets dry can cause frizz and breakage. Instead you could try hydrate sheer by pureology which is a natural shampoo which is hydrating but also light. Or even Dallas by a brand called r and co which is thickening and also light. Adding a shampoo brush into your routine too will really help by lightly exfoliating your scalp, and only using a tiny bit of shampoo. Shampooing two or even three times with a tiny bit of shampoo is much better than using too much once. You could also try detox masks on your scalp to rid yourself of build up. Detox masks I find are just as important as hydrating masks for your ends. They really changed my hair and helped me so much. You can try it and I hope it helps! Your video was really great to watch ☺️☺️
omg this was so insightful and I can definitely see what you mean by product buildup! Thanks so much for taking the time out to watch and giving helpful tips. I'll definitely look into the products you've suggested! ^_^
Shea moisture coconut and hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie makes hair frizzy... My hair is also wavy, 2c 3a type, coarse but whenever I try to use this curl cream, it makes my hair so frizzy.... Try bounce curl avocado and rose clamp cream, its good, really good for waves
Bless you, thank you so much!! 😢🥹 I never knew where to turn to and felt overwhelmed with the 10 million products out there. Whenever I ask hairdressers about how to take care of my frizzy hair, all they ever say is just “use treatment”. Your video makes me feel like I’m not alone and that i shouldn’t give up 🩷
Hi, I’d advise you to try using a clarifying shampoo for the straight hair treatment and also to stop using the H&S shampoo! It is horrible for your hair and has so many sulfates which is super stripping for wavy and curly hair, taking away your natural oils which is why you may have such a problem with moisture. For dandruff, try tea tree oil and the ouai scalp scrub. Also try brush styling and finger rolling, for some it can work miracles and really helps encourage the curl pattern/wave pattern for those who don’t agree that waves are a type of curly hair.
Found someone who has the same hair texture as me 🥲 as a se asian it’s so hard to find products for our hair since straight hair is the norm and mostly the standard here. I used to have pin straight hair when I was a kid then it became curly and frizzy so I rebonded a few times all throughout high school and college. Now I’ve decided to stop my chemical treatments and grow out my natural waves. It’s a tedious process but I’m willing to do it since my hair is becoming dry and frizzy again due to extensive keratin treatments and hair coloring.
fyi i don’t rec goop beauty bc its business structure is like an mlm (basically a more “legal” version of a pyramid scheme). also their stuff is just INSANELY overpriced for what it is. i checked the ingredient list and it just seems to be a blend of oils (mainly castor & coconut) with essential oils in it. coconut oil IS good for ur hair esp if it’s damaged but essential oils can eventually cause dermatitis with excessive use. most def a no go for u guys with sensitive skin. generally i use oils like argan n coconut w/ shea butter (shea moisture has a good 1, just microwave it like a minute to change the texture, n then put it in the fridge to cool it down) its much more cost effective too!
Going through this right now haha. My roots are curly/wavy and the rest is more "straight" Learning to take care of it and waiting patiently for them to grow ^^"
your hair is lovely. it's what i wish my hair was sometimes cuz tighter curls are a tragedy to detangle lmaooo. but i guess beauty is pain sometimes haha
I actually do this sometimes since my hair is wavy, but my hair gets very greasy fast so I wash my hair every two days. It’s annoying because to complete this whole process takes like one day anyway so..
I would love to see a video on how you keep your hair for the 10 days until your next wash! 😁🤗 I have the same hair type and am also trying to embrace my natural waves but I can only last 3 days with all the product making my hair feel gross! Thanks for sharing this video though!
We also have the same hair waves but the ends of my hairs are twirls. It's really cute and I want to keep it before but whenever I comb it, it just go all over the place like, instead of having them in groups, every strand of my hair are far from each other 😔 I researched how to make the curls like that but when i look up for the products used, they're too expensive and my family can't afford those 😩😩 All I do is after washing my haur, I only comb it one time then dry it with towel (or clean shirt because of the fabric) from ends to roots (crunching it like you do but with towel) then after that, it looks good but it won't stay with a lot of air blowing so I tie it up whenever it's windy and remove the tie after then it stays the same.
i used to have wavy hair but i started getting it cut short and treating my hair like it was straight. so now my hair gets frizzy and fluffs up. so idk if this will work but i’m hoping that it will!
Asian mutt with textured hair here! It took a long time before I realized I have wavy and curly locks, because it's just not talked about. It seems like all Asians are supposed to have flat straight hair, and textured hair just isn't a beauty standard unless it's a special occasion. My friends and family blamed any texture I had on the humidity, and not a single hair stylist ever suggested that I might have natural texture that could be tamed with the right products. If I may, I do have a tip for anyone who is just now discovering their natural curls/waves: Start small with purchasing products so you don't get overwhelmed. If your hair is like mine and you live in a similar amount of humidity, you may not need a lot. DO switch to a shampoo and conditioner for textured hair (no 2 or 3-in-1 products, they don't do a good job), and get a diffuser for your hair dryer unless you want to always air dry. Also, get a cream or a mousse to start, you might not need both. I don't have terribly thick hair, so I can get away with using just a mousse (Not Your Mother's brand). I add a little Olaplex no. 6 when the weather is bad, and a little goes a long way so IMO it's worth the price. And keep in mind your hair won't change over night, it might take a little bit before your texture becomes super defined.
@@Dentaldays ooooo thanks so much for the tips!! I'll definitely try it out next time ^_^
@@Hangtw YAYY!! Hopefully it works !
@@Dentaldays CARLA, I came back to say your suggestion works and there's barely any frizz omg!! I applied more product, made it flat like you said, then finger twirled, and scrunched less. The result is AMAZING. THANK YOU BAE!!
@@Hangtw AHH yayyy I’m so happy!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰♥️
Asian wavy hair gang! ☺️
💯
💗
South Asian but I'm also wavy!!! Her hair looked so much like mine it's hard to find people like that who I can relate too hehe.
Another wavy asian! I’m Peranakan Chinese and My natural hair is extremely like hers, except dark brown. Wavy, Frizzy/puffy, fine hair. I always struggled to style it and would straighten it. Wow. It’s also real thick at the back but thinner at my sides
Im Vietnamese like you, and for some reason I didnt think “our genetics”
could have anything but pin straight hair lol.
Let's break this cycle guys!
yess another southeast Asian girl with wavy hair!! thank you for sharing this. I'm just starting my wavy hair care journey now ♡
Finally found a fellow Vietnamese with the same hair type after years of straightening my hair out, thinking I was weird lol. Seeing mostly people with tight curls doing CGM, I was sooo discouraged. But hey, glad I followed you on Instagram! Thanks for the tips, gorgeous!
🥺❤ so glad this was helpful!
I have natural curly hair too
I’m not Vietnamese, I’m Italian but have the same hair type as the girl in the video.
I didn’t know that Vietnamese people can have wavy/curly hair! I learned something new today! Wishing you well on your hair journey!
@@clair8880 it’s not about lighting lmao they simply have curlier hair than you
Its so happy to see someone else with the same Thick poofy wavy hair type 😆 it has been a struggle for me to find the right methods and hair care routine bcs some days my hair just won’t cooperate well and ends up very oily or very dry after wash day.
That sounds similar to mine except mine used to be curly when I was a toddler and it’s been wavy/straight ever since
Did anyone memorize the names of those products
Wait have literary the same hair as you. My classmates call me 'Hagrid' (from Harry Potter) or 'scarecrow' (ofc in my 1st language)
Ugh yes, finally found someone with the EXACT same hair type as mine. I'm from India and the humidity over here just makes it worse for me to manage my hair. You're soo pretty! I can't wait to order the products you used on your hair. Hope it works 🤞🏼
LITRALLY SAME LOL
If not, good luck to you ♥️♥️
@@gaurikakhosla5011
It most certainly helped!
Thanks.
Finally found someone who have the same type of hair like me! I can’t wait to start bringing back my waves :)
❤️excited for you to go on this hair journey!! :)
That’s what I’m trying to do rn, it’s so hard finding products tho :(
omg! are you me!?? we have the same experience 😂
Please get your thyroid checked. It can affect your hair type.
Ugh
Same
I feel the same way, I also don't want to buy products that aren't easily available in my country either?
Dont wanna spend money on so many hair products and spend time just doing hair

Is the denman brush worth it, I've been thinking of getting it
@@michellevasquez1480 some people love them. I personally just use a paddle brush. It's worth to try it out though.
Omg this is so helpful I'm growing out my curls from a chemical straightener too!!!! ♡ can't wait to start embracing my natural curls

This really helps me to see another Asian girl with the same hair type as me 🥰
I’m Chinese and everyone in my family has sleek straight hair, but mine was completely frizzy, to the point where a Hong Kong hairdresser called me explosive hair girl in Cantonese in public😭.
Best wishes lovely~ 🍂✨
- So far, I honestly love it. I have 2b-3a type hair, mainly loose ringlets and waves, and I felt like as I got older, my hair started to become thinner. Since adding the leave in after I apply my conditioner, I’ve noticed my hair feel so much healthier and thicker, so I definitely agree with you on that.
What I do:
1. Apply about a quarter size of conditioner and spread throughout hair and detangle lightly if need be
5. Rinse
(I also use head and shoulders at least every 1x or 2x a week, just to clean away extra build up, and I double shampoo my hair, so first I go in with head and shoulders, and then go in with my regular shampoo.)
Curly/wavy hair is literally sooo pretty 😍😍😍
Yesss!!! Asian girls need to rock their waves and curls too!!! Not everyone has pin straight hair in Asia.
As a asian (Turkish) who has wavy hair, i appreciate this video so much. This helped me heavily!! Thank you so so much
I’m Hispanic and Asian , omg I got the same hair as you !!!
Oh my god you have no idea how long I've been looking for someone with the same hairtype as me! This is so helpful, thank you!
That’s crazy cuz I’m using Olaplex right now and my hair is soo dry 💔
@@ash1186 I don't think it's supposed to moisturize but to repair the bonds. on the treatment packet itself, it says to use a hydrating hair mask afterward... maybe you can try that? @@etcbarbara I’m gonna try that! Thanks ! I got it because I accidentally over processed my hair…. My stylist was pissed my next haircut ! Haha
Your hair is beautiful. I'm fighting hair loss and I'm afraid that I'm going bald some day 😢 I wish I had hair like your
I’m SO happy I found your tiktok bc we have the same hair type rather o just treated my hair as if it was straight bc I didn’t know how to actually treat it being the only one getting my dad’s gene of wavy hair while all my siblings have straight, but then my friends always kept pointing out the fact that the ends of my hair would always wave so I’ve recently been trying to treat it like the hair type it actually is rather than straight hair :)

The brand is at target and it’s about 10 bucks!
ooooo i'll have to try it out!! thank you so much
I'm Cambodian too and having wavy hair their is a bit weird, I had straighten my hair with some chemical to keep straight 2 times? And straight it even can't remember but after I came to USA I'm starting to love my natural hair
AHH I USE THE SAME ONE BUT FOR CURLY HAIR
we have the same hair type and I have always hated it too. I am happy I found this video! Trying to get my natural waves back and learn how to love them.
wavy hair (like curly hair) is naturally dry!! hydration products wil def help :))
I hope this helped!
omg... i have the same type of hair and i always felt embarrassed of it growing up, sometimes still do and tend to straighten them a lot. thank you for making this video! i didn't know other ppl had the same hair type as me
OMG WHAT I’ve waited so long to see another Viet woman with the same hair texture as me!
Holly shite someone I can finally relate with same hair type FINALLY!!
Bro, we literally have the same hair type down to the same scalp issues😭🥺 it’s so reassuring to know! Like ugh, my hair is so curly in the front section (that frames my face), but the rest of it is all straight but poofy🥲 and no matter how I condition it, it just gets frizzier and frizzier that not even a hair band holds them down now
SAME OMG!!
Finally someone with my type of hair!! 😩 instant follow!! 💖
What could also help is brushing the ends first then your roots. Definitely take your time with it too.
I have wavy hair too and growing up I hated it. this looks like a lot of work, but I'll probably start incorporating some of these products into my hair routine =)
I will totally recommend you to try a different dandrif shampoo because the one your using yes it does work but it makes your hair really dry even if you use conditioner oh and wash your hair with cold water I have been doing this for so long and it makes your hair so silky and soft and helps with friz and when you sleep you can use a silk bonnet to sleep and silk pillowcase it helps make sure you hair does not get split ends when you sleep or friz.
it looks so cute, wish ppl would appreciate their natural texture
I have wavy hair nd curly at the front :)
A trick I learned to get rid of the wet frizz is to do the squish to condish method.
Loook at them baby hairs 👏🏽 keep doing your thang
Found someone who has the same hair texture as me 🥲 as a se asian it’s so hard to find products for our hair since straight hair is the norm and mostly the standard here. I used to have pin straight hair when I was a kid then it became curly and frizzy so I rebonded a few times all throughout high school and college. Now I’ve decided to stop my chemical treatments and grow out my natural waves. It’s a tedious process but I’m willing to do it since my hair is becoming dry and frizzy again due to extensive keratin treatments and hair coloring.
fyi i don’t rec goop beauty bc its business structure is like an mlm (basically a more “legal” version of a pyramid scheme). also their stuff is just INSANELY overpriced for what it is. i checked the ingredient list and it just seems to be a blend of oils (mainly castor & coconut) with essential oils in it. coconut oil IS good for ur hair esp if it’s damaged but essential oils can eventually cause dermatitis with excessive use. most def a no go for u guys with sensitive skin. generally i use oils like argan n coconut w/ shea butter (shea moisture has a good 1, just microwave it like a minute to change the texture, n then put it in the fridge to cool it down) its much more cost effective too!
girl thank you I’m Cambodian and I’ve been tryna look for some southeast Asian w the same type of hair ☺️☺️
The pic of you with straigth hair is so beautiful.
Going through this right now haha.
My roots are curly/wavy and the rest is more "straight"
Learning to take care of it and waiting patiently for them to grow ^^"
your hair is lovely. it's what i wish my hair was sometimes cuz tighter curls are a tragedy to detangle lmaooo. but i guess beauty is pain sometimes haha
your eyes are so much pretty, it's just "bling bling"!!
u got amazing volume girl 🤩 my hair is so similar to yours, but down to my waist. i think if i cut it shorter i could have that volume too 😍
I actually do this sometimes since my hair is wavy, but my hair gets very greasy fast so I wash my hair every two days. It’s annoying because to complete this whole process takes like one day anyway so..
I have to do this as well. I wanna know how to make the grease stop
My hair is exactly like yours and I never leave my hair, my forever hairstyle is low bun. Because if I leaves it, I look like ghost 😆
i used to have wavy hair but i started getting it cut short and treating my hair like it was straight. so now my hair gets frizzy and fluffs up. so idk if this will work but i’m hoping that it will!
FINALLY i found someone with the same type of her thanksss
