Why don't you like the ones from the 90's. They are the closest ones to the originals. Hand winding, thin, no date, and also the same lemania based movement that's in the speedmaster. It's not flyback but other than that I think it's superior to the other modern navitimers/cosmonautes.
How’s the winding on this watch? Does it hurt/is uncomfortable to wind the crown manually when it is so close to the ridged bezel? I had one of the older models like this and the winding physically gave me blisters which resulted in me selling it because I found that to be a deal breaker for the price.

Carpenter's Breitling Navitimer was water damaged during splash down recovery operations...
If a Navitimer then a Cosmonaut! But in the end I went with the Sinn 903 - it’s just the better watch for much less money.
