"I want one of those, but I don't wanna drop the money that these companies might charge" You sir represent me very well. Get my like! Never disappoint Dave, good job!
Super job and super video! I've now got over 800 minis. Just under 4 years ago I started with zero. I did not pay much for the minis I have now...just don't have that much to invest in this hobby. The majority of what I have are cleaned-up, re-based, sometimes repainted, and sometimes re-imagined Mage Knight and HeroClix minis. I've learned a lot about working on minis from various UA-cam creators but Minature Mash-Up is one the real "go to" folks that I've learned the most from.
I've converted dozens of Heroclix for D&D. The flgs about an hour from me used to have a box full at 50 cents each, so I loaded up when I did make the trip. I'll have to search the net for that cultist next to Skaar.
Amazing food for thought! I have a box of Clix minis that I could take to the next level with these tips. Do you happen to know if white spirit is good for stripping clix?
Great tip! We had a house fire in 2011. I still have a big box of HeroClix that got covered in soot. Tried to clean them up but that didn't really work. Time to dig them out and try this out.
Way cool. I order some of the hand full if heros. Not bad. I am trying to make a tabasi or a werecat. Got any ideas? Again thank you for your amazing advise and tutorials.
I had bought some Mageknight figures to convert into some other figures. Was trying to strip the gloppy thick paint on them. I went to my go to stripping solution which is cleaner called L.A.'s Totally Awesome and a small ultrasonic cleaner I bought from Harbor Freight. Usually it does the job on minis, but not on these. I see you use acetone. Are you using straight acetone or something diluted like nail polish remover? I ask because I'm always a little scared of acetone on plastic. I don't want to melt any of the tiny details.
I'll give it a shot when I can get some acetone. I think I used up the last can I bought finally. And now I'm being told that locally stores are being forced to only sell essential items. Doubt they consider acetone essential. But I haven't been to a store lately to see if the rumors are true.
Cheapest is plastic jewel bead and wire to make a mace. Or a weapons sprue, lots of companies make these www.pippd.com/products/reaper-miniatures-weapons-pack-vi-03447-dark-heaven-legends-unpainted-metal?variant=29140114627&Google%20Shopping&CATARGETID=120152200000016772&CADevice=c&gclid=CjwKCAjwp-X0BRAFEiwAheRui1HpllbVz8IS1jzmYml94sGJYWyOY_dwE7Ohm4u4mvJUQscqtU9GZhoCGmgQAvD_BwE
I'll tell you, you were definitely one of the first guys to influence me looking over on cheap mini, and other sites... Years ago at this point. Here is some of a latest haul you might enjoy ua-cam.com/video/T94gObmJZQg/v-deo.html

Glad to see you still killin' it!

Good idea! And yes, sometimes a wash and/or highlight is all you need to make a clix figure look decent.
Thanks for looking out for us cheapskates!
Thank you.

The Mindflayer, the Xenomorph and the fat Zombie are looking amazing with your paint job!

Straight acetone and don't worry clix plastic won't melt.
