RUBrands' cardboard city terrain pieces are the best bang for your buck I've ever seen when it comes to creating urban environments for DnD or Warhammer. Sturdy, pre-painted, beautifully detailed, cheap, and easy to construct.

"Doll houses for nerds"
I love it.
Aren't dollhouses already for nerds though?
I have about 25 of them and one of the things I did was invest in some chisel Point Sharpies. I use brown, grey, and blue markers. So before I assemble them I Mark all the cardboard edges that aren't finished, such as wooden stair railings, roof edges, and the actual construction tabs that stick out of the walls and roof sections, definitely gives it a more professional look, and actually hides the tabs.
For everyone living in Europe: The Russian site is roughly half the price of the US Amazon site! Some of them (such as the ruined castle) are a third of the US price!
Suddenly the shipping and wait start to be worth it.
Believe me, I live in Russia and if I buy NOT from the official site, then you can find houses for 0.8 dollars
They make a line of Old West buildings also. I got a bunch for my birthday, inspiring me to run a Western RPG
Six Gun Sound is what you need www.twohourwargames.com/sixgunsodeel.html
The moment I heard that two story building was $10, it got my attention
Holy sht... i was just thinking last night how I wanted something just like this and I find your video today . Thank you so much
Ryan Goulding battle systems is another good one! Just had a bad ass Kickstarter!!
Illuminati confirmed.
Thanks so much for demonstrating these! Like others, I've wondered about these and a quick demo on UA-cam really answered every one of my questions. Super job and can't wait to integrate these!
Aaaaaannnd I bought them all.
What a great resource! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome product review. Thank you so much for making this video available. I'm sending the link to it to a number of friends and facebook pages.
Thank you!
I've been eyeing those for years, but didn't want to pull the trigger on them. I will now! Thanks, brother!
Thank you so much for finding this! Brought one of the kits for 50% off!
They also work absolutely great for Bolt Action. The wall sections are even somewhat modular.
Thanks man this fits the bill for me keep up the great work
I picked up about 5 sets of these a few months ago. I’m deployed right now, and had them sent back to the states, so I’m looking forward to putting them together!
Pro tip for papercraft stuff. Using a black or brown marker on the white paper edges goes a long way to taking projects like this to the next level.
Greetings from Russia. I love Cleverpaper (Russian name is "UmBum" - for "Umnaya Bumaga" - thats verbatim Clever Paper). I have a ships (and did some naval battles with boarding actions in my games, the only thing is better not to attach sails, to prevent interfer with miniatures) and buildings. And i want to infom you - they started 2 new model series especially for tabletop gamers. "Dungeon 3D" - modular dungeon (not so fun to assemble (because of modularity), but wery good to play with), and "Magic Kingdoms" - houses and ruins but with increased usability for tabeltop gaming needs. Suggest you to check that.
I have a few of these that I mix in with my Dwarven Forge sets. The scale is perfect. So far, the windmill is my favorite. Try to find a 28mm windmill for anywhere near the price of these, you will see what an incredible bargain these buildings are.
I just finished my whole table top city and this happens. Might still get some of these specially the ships.
That's how our hobby goes, I suppose, always something new. It keeps us on our toes though, what else would we be doing with our lives?.... 😂😂
I always wonder why I don't see more people talking about these. I've been collecting them for months to fill out my dnd game. They also have some more modern buildings and also famous Russian monuments like churches that could be useful.
I just bought the walls and some furniture to test this stuff and IT IS INCREDIBLE!
Holy moly! Thats pretty cool
I've been crating my own stuff out of Dollar Store foam core board, inspired by BlackMagicCraft's You Tube channel. But this stuff looks really cool also.
The answer to my prayers.... thanks Ben.
I've just started using this stuff. My players actually cheered when I showed them the new battlefields and questing area.
They also have a dungeon/underground pieces/set.
"My Players" - I don't know, I think that is somewhat sweet. :)
Awesome discovery! Thanks for sharing with us. My store can easily use these to add into our terrain supply very easily.
Folks in the UK, their stuff can be found on Amazon under Keranova. Some of it has extortionate postage, but there are a few good pieces that come under Amazon Prime.
Yep ima buy like 500 dollars worth of these, really gonna help with table immersion, thanks for bringing these to light dude!
Wow! Clever indeed! Thanks for sharing what a great resource. As a former Jr High teacher good on you for giving up your time to run a club like that I know how much else you have to do.
Yeah, this is very good quality for the cost. If you don't have the time to craft, this is amazing. Thanks for sharing with us!
Very nice, tyvm for sharing. I will be ordering these. Ty again
Thanks for the heads up - I make up toy soldier sets to give away and they do 25mm (close enough to 20mm for my needs)
I have a few of these I've been collecting to for my D&D game. The scale is really really close but find them a bit on the small side. Nonetheless, their close enough especially for the price point and ease of building them!
Thank you.
We have been using these for about three years now when we run Witcher convention games. They have held up for many, many games.
Some guys said that one is perfect for Witcher www.rubrand.com/town-ruins/
Thank you soo much for introducing me to these wonderful things!!! The First Ship and Castle will be ordered soon for our RPG-Campaign!
Wow... they look perfect
Damn. I found this video when I'd be finally looking at terrain and they're temporarily closed due to the situations over there. 😔
Wow, these look perfect, and the ships especially are super useful to me (just started a pirate campaign). Will definitely be getting some of these.
Hahaha oh man, I ran into these last year in a bookstore here in Bulgaria, and have now bought several directly from the company that imports them to the country from Russia. And I only NOW see this video suggesting the exact same ones :D
These are indeed great, though I personally always just glue them shut so they don't open - makes it safer to transport them.
I think this is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks! :)
I liked this and subbed from this vid alone!!!! Thank you!!!
Oh, man. I've been laying my eyes on these for a while now. But I found NOWHERE on the internet the info that it works for D&D scales. THANKS A LOT!
Found this ones in Moscow craft-shop about a year ago. And yes - they are cool)
This is incredible!
This was a great find! Thanks for sharing the info.
Just stumbled onto your channel. Kudos for finding these amazing buildings as they are exactly what I have been looking for!!
I'll stick to my resin pieces but as a budget solution, this stuff is pretty hard to beat.
Looks like they'd combine well with Terraclips cardboard terrain too, so you could have a nice medieval hamlet on top and a sewer system that leads to a evil lava dungeon underneath...
Seriously thank you. This is awesome.
incredible. I'm impressed
These look pretty awesome for the price! It is a struggle to find townsfolk to populate (I mean really populate!) a village, so the 2D villagers alone make it worth a look in. The tabs do look pretty ugly... but if you were so inclined you could probably cut them down and paint over the ends? Btw are there some tabs in one of the windmill blades you need to pop out?
Even though these buildings are made for dungeons and dragons they would be cool too for diecast vehicles and trains 🚂 in diorama scenes
These kinda look a bit small for 28mm heroic scales but for filling out a map with terrain for AOS I could totally see it working.
I would hate to see what some enthusiastic dice rolls or just knocking these off the table would do to them but with the cheap price they could be replaced fairly easy I guess. With as cheap and simple as 3d printers are getting though I don't know if the price of printing your own terrain can be matched anymore! Many sites have free files so you can print walls and buildings for pocket change now.
These are really cool. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Those do look pretty good. I'm betting you could probably shave the tabs that show through to hide them.. wondering also about a kit bash for parts that you can't see.. like the lower part of the windmill, tower, etc.. wondering if you could make those open up also?
This stuff looks amazing. Good find.
Ahh, the Grand sideof Warhammer Fantasy.
Looks cool. I still make my own Buildings.
Giveing me ideas,..
Love it! Great find!
You make mention during the video that these are scaled for 25/28mm yet on the Amazon site it states that they are scaled at 1/87 which is the American railroad HO scale, OO in UK. If the 1/87 scale that Amazon quotes is true then the doorways are going to be way to small for 25/28mm mini's. Can I ask were you just willing to compromise over the scale being out as it was just running a game for kids and can you confirm or deny if they are out of scale for true 25/28mm Mini's?
The Russian store lists them as 25/28mm. I went through my models with a ruler and found that the doorways are about 30mm high. Here's an image of a Mage Knight figure and one of the included paper figures for scale. imgur.com/a/dp2MyWs
Nice sets, but yeah, that door is clearly too small for that knight mini.
@@skoffs To small by like by 1mm. For that price point and quality I will happily take that trade off.
Wow I need these
Thanks for showing off (discovering) this product.
I just need to find a company producing earlier period buildings, more like Norse or Celt.
They look pretty great. How easy would they be to pop flat again for storage? Do you think they'd deal well with being repeatedly dis/re-assembled?
I seriously have my doubts. It would be great if that did work. Maybe (that's a big maybe) you could replace the card board tabs with wood or plastic that would hold up better.
You can disassemble / assemble no more than 2-4 times. Cardboard locks work on friction, after several pulling out the elastic elements are jammed, the lock ceases to hold. Better not to disassemble. sun9-42.userapi.com/c855732/v855732056/f3bf5/1ZgnQHHupus.jpg Sorry, I'm using Google translate, I hope the meaning is clear.
@@sshabunin6973 perfectly clear, thanks 😊
Man, their clocktower has ACTUAL clock inside. Not medieval of course but still pretty amazing
Oh, and as I see modular dungeon didn't come to Amazon yet. It's their new product special for TRPGs. You could find pictures here cleverpaper.org/product-category/terrain/
@@user-gr1ks9ss7c На амазоне уже есть. www.amazon.com/UMBUM-Innovative-3D-Puzzles-Dungeon-Clever/dp/B07TRC1JRW?ref_=ast_bbp_dp
Real Cool
Doll houses - No thank you.
Doll houses for nerds - YES PLEASE!
Great find. Thanks man.
If I live in the US would I still be able to purchase these.
Much appreciated
Far out. I want some.
The interiors seem an afterthought in regards to gameplay as it would be difficult to have people look in and move their chars. The levels and or roofs should be removable similar to the how the tower is constructed. But in all reality you can find paper craft ones online for free and you can use heavy card stock and a laser printer and they take about the same amount of time to construct. I did a bunch for city games for d&d and battle tech
how about this umbum.ru/catalog/Game_without_rules/544/
This kinda reminds me of Mr. Rogers
How great!
Them Russians know what's best! This is an epic bargain!
Awesome.
I just build my terrain out of black lotus cards.
No brag. Just fact.
Sassy and fabulous
what's that?
Seems kinda cheaping out, I bought a picasso and build huts from it
Looks like it's 18 $, not 10. Did you get a discount some how?
Amazon is like 20$ the Russian website is like 10$ --but the shipping is going to be about 30$ (or more depending) so if you avoid certain models that cost more to ship (such as the ruined castle) and get a large order, you can save a lot by ordering from the Russian website-- (so if you spend more than 30$, you'll save about 50% on every additional item you order in one order.) I might order the Ruined castle from amazon, since that one shoots the shipping cost up to like 90$ on the russian website for some reason.
That looks awesome! I have to ask my group how they feel, but it seems to be the absolutely easiest way to fill a table. Do they make trees?
Thank you, Ben.
I've always loved your eye for stuff in the OSR, but - honestly - I've been a little cold on the whole scene for a couple years. Since Dolmenwood, not much has perked my interest in settings or books - I've grown weary of LotFP's recent releases, found too much repetition in 'wyrd fantasy' tropes, and whereas I've really got into some of the niche products you've reviewed - much of the offerings just seem like more of the same 'different', so to speak.
THIS, however, is DIFFERENT. Cheap terrain? GOOD TERRAIN FOR CHEAP? You just never see it, because we've been groomed to want our Dwarven Forge and ridiculously time consuming builds - whether they be paper, foam, or damned Popsicle stick. ArcKnight caught me interest, as have MANY paper mini PDF companies - but, this, well is different.
Thanks for pushing forward into something that the OSR isn't comfortable addressing that goes back a long way in the hobby.
Still Watching!
Dwarven forge is honestly overpriced and overhyped.
Ain't gettin' these anymore, boys.
Hi there☺️
Looked at Amazon, very cool, do they make 15mm scale? Also how about terrain in 15mm and 28mm?🤔🤔
Thank you ☺️👍😏☺️
Is there a UK shop
Can you use this for 28mm skirmish games i.e. Frostgrave ?
I use them for D&D, and Bolt Action. 25mm and 28mm models work fine.
@@roydooley7400, do they look in place for a France or Germany Bolt Action table?
@@philippconner2818 I personally think so. I was station in Germany in the late 80's. They would work for Italy, France and Germany IMHO.
There are also additional eras covered. Wild west, Victorian, ect...
Can it withstand some terrain peices or many minis?

I don't know guys I guess I'm just stupid I'm having a hell of a time finding the stuff can anyone give me a website I can get it from the manufacturer? You mentioned them having boats and ships are those also 28 mm scale? I would be very much interested in seeing those if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
Amazing 8O
Direct site appears to be down. You cannot visit www.rubrand.com right now because its certificate has been revoked. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.
It's working for me.
@@QuestingBeast It must have been temporary as it is now working for me.
I got the stables one and they're really beautiful however, be warned, they're NOT 28mm. They're mote like 18-20mm. Normal D&D minis look huge and don't fit in the doors. No matter how you try to justify it, they're just too small but you *could* use the 2D minis as PCs and NPCs and, of course, still use regular minis as monsters.
Oh, at RUBrand it's 10 $. Never mind.
Nice! I'm actually considering putting in an order from Russia now. :0 Which sets did you get, Ben?
I was just checking out the website myself. The hamlet set looks amazing for $32.
www.rubrand.com/hamlet-terrain-set/
What scale is it?
Anyone have trouble paying for the order on their company page? Everytime it goes to PayPal, it says there was an error... I also get another error when I try to send them a message trying to explain the issue. Really strange... Hopefully they cancel the order because I cant even contact them :|
how long does it take to ship from russia?
Problem is it’s really only good for one encounter. What are you going to do, use the same building for all your taverns?
It’s ok, but still limited view if you have people seating, know if they came off at window level would had been better.
LOL, Amazon.ca these are $50+ dollars not worth it here. I was excited for two minutes.
It looks very similar to this kickstarter:
www.kickstarter.com/projects/1621774283/fantasy-wargames-terrain-from-battle-systemstm
I assume you mean rooves
Not sure if they're boosting their prices but most of your claims of 10 dollars are about 5-10 off as most buildings of the scale you're showing start at 20 bucks minimum.
The Amazon prices are about double the RuBrand site prices. Figure your shipping and wait times, choose that way.
In Russia price of those buildings is 3-5$, actually. Still a bit pricey for me - I prefer making terrain for free from cardboard rubbish that can be found all over Moscow
