IAF did the same thing with Mig 21s. When these aircraft started crashing and there was call to phase them out of service , IAF said that they have invested a lot on these aircrafts and cant retire them. Until it gets a new engine it is not worth to upgrade these jets.
Indian Engineers are truly genius...They know where to use what...And as per current senario stealthyness is a case..
And Jaguar will give an upperhand in this case with a limited budget.

The IAF decided to modernise its MIG21 till 2027, but did you know how many pilots lost their lives?
After that, they sought Jagwar enhancements, and if any pliots' lives were lost as a result of the upgrade, who would you hold responsible for this loss?

Yes, even after DARIN III upgrade on some Jaguar, it was hard about the lack of engine power. That is present thrust of Adour MK 811 twine engines are not suitable for eny more upgradation which requires more power from the engines. If it is in the plane then they must have thought about that problem already & what about HTFE 25 engine core upgradation to HTFE 40 engine. If it is successful already then it will solve all the underpower problem arises with Jaguar. & make it a potent fighter bomber. At this crucial stage of global geopolitics instability, which may turn war any time, IAF needs its every serviceable warplanes, ready. Let us hope for the best.

An aesa radar equipped darin -3 standard iaf jagaurs not only improves its strike capabilities like carrying anti ship missile but also confers it an good secondary air to air combat capabilities especially if equipped with air to air missiles like astra-1/ astra-2 along with already existing shorter range asraam air to air missiles.
This coupled with good stealthy capabilities,stand off weapons after few more upgrades,would make it an interim solutions uptill the induction of tejas-mark-1a and tejas-mark-2 in sufficient numbers.
There are section of people who advocate that jagaurs are old and outdated but they forget even the larger and premier airforces like USA operates" old but gold platforms" like a-10, b-52 , Russian airforce operate like su-24, su-25,mig-31, tu-95 bombers .
The engine of Jaguar is under powered, most probably a Honeywell engine. To survive in a close combat scenarios, the engine should be adequately powered to pull off manoeuvres.
Great Move, Engine also available it's "Kaveri" scale up and scale down.

It is also planned to replace the present Turbomeca’s Adour engine with the HAL’s own designed HJE 2500 , which is more powerful ( 25kN ) . This engine is indigenous and has passed all qualification tests and awaiting certification from the Military Airworthiness authority, CEMILAC .

Like u said we need an aircraft like jaguar.. even in the current form of Kaveri engine is enough for this type of aircraft. IAF must initiate a program to manufacture these types of aircraft in India. With the experience of Tejas we can make this type of aircraft easily. The body should be in hard metal to withstand ground fire... Like A-10
A Quick Question? The US is still using the Sea Harriers jumpjets, even India has these fighters and was using them. Then why were these decommissioned, why can't they use them on our aircraft carriers as a stop gap 🤔 these are still good when US can still operate them why can't we? (Please don't tell spare parts or cost issues. Apart from these issues) Why can't we use these magnificent beasts????? These can be used for coastal or recon missions and bombing missions too.
Us marine uses Harriers. And they uses modified harrier while we were using original British varient.
More over, we don't have that many flat deck where numbers of the Harriers can be justified. Those fighters will be cooked at instant against modern fighters.
Using currently available thrust of kaveri engine in 2 engine configuration, can we make a attack aircraft for ground strike roles like panavia tornado or cancelled HF 73 GAF concept. All modern electronics are available within the country and for this configuration engine as well. It also be life saving miracle for kaveri engine. Old Jaguars can be replaced. What you think?

Jaguar has always been a robust aircraft able to operate even from semi prepared runways with minimum logistics support.....HAL had offered a Jaguar MAX upgrade program in the past which is somewhat similar to what was discussed in this video....but the main miss at our end was the engine upgrade....had we been able to integrate Honeywell F125IN engines this fighter would have stayed relevant atleast till 2040

They are made in India so we have sufficient spare or their spares are available form old users. In case of mariage 2000 we purchased them directly from France to counter f16.

Will only the Darin 3 be upgraded or the Darin 1 and 2s also? Jaguars alrdy suffer frm low thrust engine. How will it take so many upgrades?
We already know that IAFs this massive upgrade will never fall through like triditional IAFs acquisition/upgrade program history.

It can't. Jaguar is a bomber and Tejas is a light combat aircraft, not a bomber.

Jaguar is carrying Short range missile for almost 20 years. At first they were using FRENCH MATRA now ASRAAM.. But pylon is same.

Can CAS fighter jets be replaced by UCAVs? I think that they may be complemented by them, but newer generation CAS aircraft with stealth in the IR spectrum, advanced countermeasures, advanced targeting systems, and stronger armor may still have a role to play. Helicopters are too slow to quickly exfil after releasing payload; standoff munition may not always be useful if the target is maneuvering, UCAVs can be jammed or have limited payload, and AI isn't good enough to replace humans in decision-making.

Jaguars have another great capability - they can take off from very rugged airstrips. If these aircrafts are so useful, we should make a fighter-bomber variant of the Tejas.
